Crispy Chow Fun
Stephen H.

N8: Crispy Chow Fun, fantastic and one of my favorite dishes. Miss my vegan noodle dishes. Good crisp on the noodles. Shrimp good presentation, okay texture, not much flavor. Wish sauce had a thicker consistency, was very watery Thai iced tea, super sweet!! Skipped Chocolate cake but so wanted a piece At least three other tables for late lunch unlike last time when no one was there!! Always a fun enjoyable eating experience. Prices keep climbing, but then this is SF. A decent amount of to go business while I was eating. 3% fee applied to credit card payments, passing another charge onto the customer Unsightly tables with dirty dishes the whole time I was there!!

I had lunch and dinner here 4 days in real while my husband was hospitalized at UCSF. The staff was so friendly and attentive. The portions are generous and tasty. It was so nice to have savory vegan food. This not a fancy restaurant but it was clean and would come back again.

The vegan community would adore this Delicious hidden gem in San Francisco. Service was excellent, they made sure I got everything thing for my meal. The inside was pretty clean and smells like fresh cooking in the air!

Still my favorite for a good vegan meal from LOVING HUT on Irving Street down the hill from UCSF. Staff always welcoming. Ambiance is nice, cute and bright. Seating is plentiful. I'm usually running errands in the neighborhood so I order to go. Favorites: CHAMPION BURGER - house mix soy burger w/perfect fries SPICY ORGANIC TOFU - wok fried with onions, peppers, spicy seasonings GURU'S CURRY - a mild yellow curry with mix of varieties of tofu & veggies CHOW FUN W/SOY JERKY - wok fried fun noodles, soy jerky, bean sprouts and veggies PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE - smooth, moist and not overly sweet. BROWN RICE - Will Order if absolutely lazy instead of making it at home. Honestly their brown rice is better. Loving Hut continues as a favorite for a hot vegan meal. Hope to dine in one day to try their WON TON NOODLE SOUP, AU LAC FRAGRANT CLAYPOT RICE, SPICY ORGANIC MA PO TOFU, SPICY CHA CHA and more. See you there!

Loving Hut is a popular vegan pan-Asian chain with locations around the west coast. This spot is a full service restaurant with an excellent menu for vegans and those wanting to try some tasty food. I ordered their Taro Rolls, Chow Fun, and Mushroom Veg medley along with a small side of brown rice. They were able to prepare everything quickly and the food lasted well in its takeout containers. I was a fan of the chow fun and the taro rolls, which were crispy and close to perfection. Something I still struggle with Loving Hut though are the prices. They still feel quite steep for what you get, but I think SF pricing just continues to break my little heart. Either way, I'm glad Loving Hut is around and available for us to enjoy.

The food is still very good. Restaurant has not changed very much. I will definitely come back again. You order food through the kiosk. The total bill includes a mandatory service charge.

Google Maps tells me it had been 9 years since my last visit to Loving Hut. Now that there's only the one San Francisco location in the Inner Sunset, I'm not at all surprised. Thankfully, it was always the better spot with a more extensive menu, including all the pan-Asian hits and some unique Western fare too. Though it's hard to resist hot and sour soup, I took a small gamble on the wonton noodle soup, which paid off big time. Plump, tender dumplings swimming in a light broth with plenty of crisp green veggies, floating on top of thin wheat noodles? Yes please, I could happily eat this everyday. The "ham" slices are a really fun addition, adding a touch of five-spice and sweetness to the mix, along with that all-important plant protein, of course. Pro tip: This is the same price as the plain wonton soup, sans noodles, get a better bang for your buck with the full works. I'm so glad this still exists, just as I remember it, if not better.

The customer service was immaculate. However, the food was mediocre. The spicy lemongrass was exceptionally salty and the fried rice/ocean basket were okay. Otherwise, the place was clean, tidy, and well ran.

I literally fly 2900 miles to eat here. I mean I had to travel to the Bay Area for work but I only went without a fight with the expectation that I'd be spending some time in the city and having lunch at the best Loving Hut location! It's been years but the SF LH didn't let me down. Lovely staff, amazing food, large portions and no guilt!

I had been to the Loving Hut in downtown SF and even one in Tampa, FL yet was a first going to the one here. It was date night so my girlfriend and I decided to go for all vegan, Asian goodness of Loving Hut. We ordered family style including: Soba Noodles adding tofu Chinese Broccoli that came with a soy protein that I liked yet my girlfriend didn't care for the soy protein although she felt the Chinese Broccoli was seasoned just fine and an order of organic brown rice Everything was really good especially the noodle dish really shined bright. I think if we came back we might order two different noodle dishes for the one my girlfriend requested shined bright packed with flavor and adding tofu was a wise decision for a bit more protein along with nice texture. We were going to go for some vegan ice cream for desert aka vanilla and cherry ice cream yet all they had was strawberry ice cream as the others were sold out. The staff here was very friendly and a big thank you to the Foghorn bar next door letting us enjoy our meal on their patio after we purchased a small bottle of wine from them. Loving Hut does vegan food quite alright and the noodle dishes here are especially the winners!

The food was very tasty and the service was very good (and kind!). Eat here because this restaurant has good karma. Let's create a gentler and more loving world...!

I realized I had not added seating accommodation to my reservation and tried to call, but no one answered. When we arrived, the hostess told us we would not be able to sit in any of the currently empty booths because reservations were coming in later. We were seated at a table off the dining space near the kitchen, my mom was a little too chilly and the booth didn't have enough neck support. I expressed to the host that though I was sorry I had forgotten to add accommodation, that this was just not the way to handle the problem. I was able to speak to the manager, who had been outside taking orders and was clearly working very hard that day. (Her name is quite uncommon so I'm just going to call her M, but I really appreciate your help!) She asked me what my concern was, and I told her, at which point she asked me to wait nearby while she figured out if she could rearrange some tables for us. The bartender was incredibly kind and served me while I waited, and distracted me from imminent tears by sharing intricate details about each drink he was making. I learned do they have a myriad of health oriented cocktails, with ingredients like turmeric, ginger, and aloe liqueur. The manager returned and said that she had already seated my mother in a new space and escorted me to the table, which allowed me to relax and enjoy the meal. At the beginning of the menu, they list the ingredients that are currently in season, and at the back of the menu, there is a color wheel, telling you the benefits of the colors of food. (Purple foods can assist with memory and brain function!). We ordered the asparagus, which was in season, spicy cucumber, and the Aji grill for two. The tofu that came with the grill for two was my favorite thing that we ate. I think you can judge a vegan / vegetarian restaurant by their treatment of tofu. Perfectly seasoned with a crispy outside and I would come back just for this. The cauliflower steak was also pretty tasty. The cocktails are excellent, we tried the BLACKPINK and my mother tried the espressotini and we were really happy with both. I don't know how popular their bar scene is, but I imagine it would be a nice way to meet other vegan and vegetarian folks over light bites. Our waiter Daniel made sure to give us the Mother's Day special dessert the restaurant had created, which was an avocado Grenache with fresh berries. If the experience had started with less stress, this review would be five stars, but I'm very grateful to the staff for doing what they could to correct it and ensure that we had a great Mother's Day! I would love to visit again and update my review :)

I used to have a very great dining experience at Tane Vegan Izakaya in Palo Alto (another vegan sushi spot), so I just knew this place would hit! And I'm not wrong!!! I'm having a coffee date later so I only ordered two rolls: Candlestick and Boddy & Soul. Candlestick came out with a whole fire presentation, I was surprised and almost forgot to film. The roll had spicy tofu, cucumber, avocado, seaweed pearls, shichimi, and it tasted just like California roll no joke! I was shocked! (I mean it's not 100% alike but definitely around 80-90%) Boddy & Soul is recommended by staff. It's one of the most ordered item and I totally get the hype. The roll has tempura spicy tofu, green onion, sesame, spicy aioli, sweet soy. It's crunchy and the sauce was super flavorful, even better than some regular sushi I've ever had. You have to try it!!!!! Honestly I'd go back again multiple times just for this roll. Overall vibe was nice, service was good, food came pretty quick too. I'm not a vegan but I really enjoyed this place and for sure it converted me into a regular now!
