Have been a few times but this was by far the best Greens experience we have ever had! We came in to try the tasting menu and it was such a great deal! All the foods were super flavorful and tasty! Our server was very friendly and went through all the options and described each one thoroughly. We went during sunset and got a window seat and there's no better spot in the city! Can't wait to come back again!

Food was good but service was lacking. Our server seemed unimpressed and inattentive. He seemed annoyed to even check in on us. Waited 10 minutes to even get the bill paid.

Came here for brunch with a larger group and it was such a great experience. The views are beautiful and the location right by the water makes it feel really special. Everyone in our group loved their food. We shared the fruit plates to start, which were beautifully plated, and I had the spring rolls as a lighter main. They were so delicious, full of flavor, and completely allium free which I really appreciated. There are lots of vegan options, plus vegetarian dishes that can easily be made vegan.

This place is a vegetarian haven (obviously). We split a lot of options here, including the pizza, tofu sandwich, etc. Highly highly recommend the tofu sandwich! The service was quick and they accommodated us even with a crazy busy line. We got to sit outdoors - there wasn't a lot of sunlight protection but it was a beautiful day nonetheless. 10/10!

Took my family here for my sister's birthday! I'm not sure if they usually give any complimentary desserts but we weren't offered any. Maybe our waiter forgot but I wish they had remembered or offered when I told our waiter the occasion. Falafel platter - (8/10) a great assortment and variety perfect for sharing! I loved all the different sauces. The olives were a bit too salty/strong for this pairing but overall enjoyed this dish Spring rolls - (7.5/10) The tofu could have used a bit more seasoning/flavor itself so definitely recommend eating the roll with the peanut sauce. Butternut squash pizza - (6/10) not bad, but not great. It's a bit on the bland side and the flavors are a bit muddy, so I personally wouldn't order this again next time. Shawarma bowl - (8/10) a delicious, filling bowl that seemed to be the tables favorite!

We had a wonderful experience at Greens! Made a reservation for opening time and arrived at sunset to the gorgeous view of the East Harbor. Here's what we got: Falafel Platter (seasonal hummus, muhammara, lemon labneh, crudite, house made pita, olives, marcona almonds, roasted delicata squash): all three sauces and the sides were absolutely delicious and the falafel were fantastic; lightly crispy outsides and fresh taste. For a shared plate costing $28 though, I do wish there had been more than three falafel! I would get it again, though, as it was a great starter to the meal. Roasted Brussel Sprouts Salad (kale, marcona almonds, sherry shallot vinaigrette, Manchego cheese): I'd just make sure you have a good idea of what you're ordering; the sprouts are cold, which makes sense given it's a salad, and it had a great taste, but I'd been expecting crispy hot roasted brussel sprouts so I was taken aback. For my own taste, I'd skip next time, but it was still good! Hodo Tofu Brocchettes (sweet potato, cremini mushrooms, cipollini onions, couscous & pomegranate salad, tahini garlic cashew cream, zhug sauce): this was delightful, with an amazing mix of textures and flavors, pops of sweetness and tanginess from the onions and pomegranate seeds, and so much fun and variety; all delicious. I would order this again! For dessert, we got the Matcha Coconut Cream Pie and the Cinnamon Apple Quince Bake. Opinions were split as to which was better, I'll say it was because both were fantastic. I did lean more towards the cinnamon apple quince bake, though, since I'm biased towards apple crumble type desserts à la mode. Overall, 4/5 stars for the food, but the kind and attentive service put Greens at a 5/5; thank you so much to Teddy for bringing such joy, peace, and humor to our night.

My vegetarian friend was visiting so thought I'd come back to Greens as my first experience was great. This time, despite reservation the wait was about 20-25 min to get our table and it was quite loud. Our server was very kind and attentive but could tell they were not expecting such a large crowd on a weekday so it was a little slow getting our bottle of wine and food. The food itself was pretty good with great flavors. I got the curry with coconut risotto which was delicious. The cauliflower was a bit too salty for me but good cook. Would come back with vegetarians anytime!

Fresh Conchiglie Pasta + Greens Veggie Burger / both absolutely delicious!

Full disclosure ... I've been a vegetarian for nearly 30 years now. But part of that means I've eaten a lot of vegetarian foods at restaurants that promote "vegetarian-friendly" as offering a Garden Burger. Not knocking those places at all. I'm very grateful that plant-based eating has grown over the decades, but Greens is in a league of their own. Tips for first timers. 1. Make a reservation. They allow 15 minutes past your time, but instead of worrying about that, just give yourself plenty of time in that bay area traffic. 2. Parking is first come, first serve in the shared lot. It's a paid lot. 3. If you can, get a window seat. If we eat with our eyes, we might as well get one of the best views in town of the Golden Gate Bridge. I compare it to eating outside at Cafe Orleans in Disney's New Orleans Square -- if you've been there, you know what I mean. 4. Seasonal menu so I apologize if the items I mentioned below aren't there when you finally get here. Fresh Orange Juice ($6, Grade A+) : Squeezed and slightly pulped. Yes please! Definite treat and the oranges they used were so sweet. Fresh Conchiglie Pasta ($30, Grade A+) : Chanterelles, spinach, corn, porcini cream sauce, spring onions, herb butter, grana padano - I cannot stop talkin' about it. Who doesn't love a fresh pasta. While most pastas are heavy, this is light from the first to last bite. Definitely top 3 of all pastas I've ever had and the common thread, all were freshly made pastas. I love the shpae of these pasta shells - perfect for trapping the sauce. Greens Veggie Burger ($22, Grade A+) : Lentil mushroom patty, cheddar cheese, chipotle aioli and avocado crema. This ain't a boring Beyond burger! Although there were no ingredients that screamed "bacon undertones" I tasted bacon undertones. I was not complaining. I compare it to a smoked tempeh. The burger had an awesome texture and the toasted bun is a smart choice. I thought at first it would be too hard, but it needed the hard toast to carry this burger. Comes with 2 housemade pickles which complimented this burger nicely. Dessert - Black Sesame Mousse ($12, Grade A+) : black sesame blondie, black sesame praline, and black sesame cookie crumble. The story behind this item is wonderful - a regular customer requested this and after 6 months of trial and most likely wonderful errors, this dish was born. Smooth and sily mousse with the texture of all the black sesame delights. I'll miss this when it's gone, but I was promised it won't be gone forever. Dessert - Pear Pistachio Galette ($14, Grade A) : Pistachio frangipane, honey thyme ice cream, and brown butter sauce. Enjoyed this very much - subtle sweetness and the ice cream was a great compliment. Light and refreshing dessert - won't weigh you down. Bottom line. Best service. Thanks Kathy for taking such great care of us and your recommendations were spot on. Incredible location overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. This is a vegetarian and vegan must bookmark!

Food is always amazing and a menu that changes. (my favorite part, and why it's in my top 5). I am always delighted by something I have here. I am not a vegetarian, and I appreciate this restaurant. Mocktail menu with plenty of choices. Service is always friendly, but it is always slow. The servers have an unmanageable amount of tables, so they cannot be as attentive as they should. I always wait longer than needed for the check, or dessert, or something like that at the end of a meal here. I prefer the indoor tables with the amazing views. Bring back the orange ginger muffins to go! The delight today was the falafel platter. Oh my!

On my first visit to Greens to catch up with a fellow vegan colleague, we had a great time eating on the patio. The food and ambiance was so good, my colleague decided to have her 30th birthday dinner there a few months later. With a preselected menu for food and cocktails for our small group, we again had an amazing time. She requested that our waiter from our first visit tend to us and he and his team were spectacular. As a new resident of San Francisco, I think I will continue to have this restaurant be my go-to for formal dinners with good friends and family.

I'm not much of a "fancy restaurant" connoisseur, which is part of why I'm giving 3 stars--but I was still impressed by a few aspects of our experience. The squash blossoms, unfortunately, were quite bland. We ended up asking for chili oil to add some flavor, which helped a bit. We also ordered cilantro rice to pair with the tofu dish--honestly, it felt like a necessary addition and probably should be included with the dish by default. The highlight was definitely the view. We were seated a bit farther from the windows, but if you can, I highly recommend asking for a window-side table!

Filo pastry roll with broad beans
    Nick C.

I think I ordered poorly: the filo pastry had remarkably little crispiness, and the broad beans stew beneath it, while tasty, did little to satiate the appetite. Has this dish been taken off the menu already? The pasta looked much better, regretfully. I am a fan of the decor, which has a certain 1970s vibe to it, and of course the views from the huge windows over to the Golden Gate are amazing.

    Anisha Y.

Greens is one of my favorite spots for special occasions, and the window seating is absolutely incredible--stunning views right over the water. The space itself is beautiful, with warm wood details throughout that make it feel both elegant and welcoming. Service is consistently excellent, and the menu rotates with the seasons, so the vegetarian dishes are always fresh and flavorful. Even my meat-loving partner, who almost never goes a meal without meat, really enjoys this place.

We understand Chinatown restaurants may not always provide "fine dining" service, and honestly we were not expecting that. But the attitude from the short-haired lady server was extremely unpleasant. What made the experience worse was that the staff were loudly chatting back and forth in Cantonese the entire time using rude language and gossiping nonstop. Customers come to enjoy a meal peacefully, not sit there listening to staff complain and bitch about things across the restaurant. Bought my tix online and waited for the day to arrive. I included the offspring and +1 for the event. Got there early and found parking basically in front, a miracle in SF. Doors opened at 5:02 and we were greeted by the chef and staff all dressed in green like the Jolly Giant of commercial fame. The tables were decorated with flowers sprouting from funny shaped radish and turnip "pots". Did I mention that the dinners have been called whimsical......... So it begins. We got two juice pairings and two alcohol pairings and both were really interesting. The local Chardonnay on lees and the martini were winners in the alcohol category whereas celery ginger kombucha and citrus drink were rulers of the nonalcoholic category. Some refills were provided, yeah! First course - Miso celeriac soup with foraged herbs, walnut dill bread with kumquat jelly and chive butter. Rich and tasty soup with great bread though two smaller pieces would have been better than one large to enjoy the spreads. Second course - Lacto-fermented beets, roasted carrot, little jellies with spicy carrot salad and hummus. Everything was unique with interesting flavors and consistencies. Loved the little jellies made with agar and the carrot salad, Wow! Third course - Mushroom and beet pub pie over purple cauliflower béchamel. Amazingly flaky vegan puff pastry, don't know how they did that without butter. Filling was earthy and savory complemented well by the béchamel. Dessert - a selection of citrus based seasonal treats including chocolate, little cake balls, candied kumquats and aquafaba. Not just great for being vegan but actually a triumph. First time trying aquafaba and it really tasted like a light, neutral whipped cream. Big fan of the candied kumquats too. They even stuck a candle in the birthday girl's bowl and led the obligatory serenade. Overall a fun experience that reflects Alex Lauritzen's passion for vegetable based cuisine, taking it fully to the fine dining level but doing it with joy and whimsy. Staff and service were attentive. This was the eighth mushroom with dinners occurring once a month. They may also do pop up a La carte service but I'm not sure. It was a bit spicy. The beet poke was an interesting combination - I'm impressed they were able to capture the essence of poke! The spicy sauce pizza was good - you can't tell it's vegan at all. The restaurant was very cozy and intimate. The staff were all really friendly! The food came out pretty quickly.

This is a really beautiful, upscale vegan option in San Francisco near Fort Mason. I took my mother…read morefor Mother's Day. I realized I had not added seating accommodation to my reservation and tried to call, but no one answered. When we arrived, the hostess told us we would not be able to sit in any of the currently empty booths because reservations were coming in later. We were seated at a table off the dining space near the kitchen, my mom was a little too chilly and the booth didn't have enough neck support. I expressed to the host that though I was sorry I had forgotten to add accommodation, that this was just not the way to handle the problem. I was able to speak to the manager, who had been outside taking orders and was clearly working very hard that day. (Her name is quite uncommon so I'm just going to call her M, but I really appreciate your help!) She asked me what my concern was, and I told her, at which point she asked me to wait nearby while she figured out if she could rearrange some tables for us. The bartender was incredibly kind and served me while I waited, and distracted me from imminent tears by sharing intricate details about each drink he was making. I learned do they have a myriad of health oriented cocktails, with ingredients like turmeric, ginger, and aloe liqueur. The manager returned and said that she had already seated my mother in a new space and escorted me to the table, which allowed me to relax and enjoy the meal. At the beginning of the menu, they list the ingredients that are currently in season, and at the back of the menu, there is a color wheel, telling you the benefits of the colors of food. (Purple foods can assist with memory and brain function!). We ordered the asparagus, which was in season, spicy cucumber, and the Aji grill for two. The tofu that came with the grill for two was my favorite thing that we ate. I think you can judge a vegan / vegetarian restaurant by their treatment of tofu. Perfectly seasoned with a crispy outside and I would come back just for this. The cauliflower steak was also pretty tasty. The cocktails are excellent, we tried the BLACKPINK and my mother tried the espressotini and we were really happy with both. I don't know how popular their bar scene is, but I imagine it would be a nice way to meet other vegan and vegetarian folks over light bites. Our waiter Daniel made sure to give us the Mother's Day special dessert the restaurant had created, which was an avocado Grenache with fresh berries. If the experience had started with less stress, this review would be five stars, but I'm very grateful to the staff for doing what they could to correct it and ensure that we had a great Mother's Day! I would love to visit again and update my review :)
