Amazing service! I…read morecame as a party of 2 at 5:20 (just before opening) on a Saturday night and we were the last party to be seated as the first round of walk-ins! We got seated right by the window, so lovely! The ambiance is so nice and the decor is so cozy and cool. We got the free peanuts and cucumber salad first- so flavorful and a nice way to whet our appetite. The scallop vermicelli was SO buttery and flavorful. I wanted another order!! The claypot rice came steaming hot and full of meats! Get something to cut it with! The black bean clams were delicious but a tad salty so it's nice to have with the claypot, or even an order of veggies and plain rice! We ended our meal with shaved ice that was layered with black bean, custard, and boba! So refreshing and a perfect end! I would come back 10000%

Anyway, having tried it, I can say it was good, but not so good that I'd expend that much energy to secure the reservation. Have to say, service was really great. Servers were attentive without being overbearing, which is always welcome. We ordered several dishes and dined, as they suggested, family style. To start, we were given two complimentary dishes, the roasted peanuts and the smashed cucumbers; both were nice appetizers. We ordered the Chiu Chow green beans, the Mongolian beef noodles, the claypot rice with lop cheung and bacon, the salt 'n peppa prawns, and the whole fried petrale sole, the last two being on the day's "specials" board. The winning dish was definitely the green beans. All the food was good, but seemed to be a bit overly salted and highly spiced. The piece of beef I had from the Mongolian beef noodles was tender, but one of my friends thought her piece was a bit tough and too chewy; we all thought the beef could have been cut into smaller or thinner pieces. We also shared two desserts since it was a birthday celebration (there are only three options offered). We had the red bean shaved ice and the mango pudding. Both were good (not "oh, boy, yummy" good, but good). Nice to try. The price wasn't outrageous ($200 including tax and tip), but I think this will be a "been there, done that" experience for me unless a friend absolutely wants to go again.

It is no longer impossible to get a reservation, but I wouldn't chance it and just try to walk in. Because the restaurant is so small if you happen to have luggage with you, they will store it for you, like a bag check, which I thought was pretty neat. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share because that's how you eat here. I really enjoyed the caviar taro puff. The duck liver mousse was the only dish I could do without. It ended up being on the sweeter side since it is banana bread, and I wasn't the biggest fan of the flavor combinations. The grilled zucchini was amazing as was the heirloom tomato salad. We also get scallion rice noodle and fried rice with the spam on the side. They do fried food very well. We got the fried game hen but since we had a table of seven we increased the dish to six pieces instead of four. We probably could've done with just the four cause they ended up being huge, which was surprising. We also got the swordfish Katsu, which is also fried. Out of the two I would probably get the swordfish Katsu. Mainly because even though the food is so deliciously fried, it was still a lot of fried food. We also got the chips and dip which I think will be a crowd pleaser even for pick your eaters because they are basically elevated potato chips with dip. For drink, I went with the carrot tea. If you like carrot juice, which I love this is a great tea for you. I would definitely get it again if I come back. Service was superb and very attentive and quick. I love the decor of this place with the open kitchen where you can watch everyone at work. If you have a chance to eat here, I highly recommend that you do.

This came with a stellar recommendation, and it definitely did not disappoint. The restaurant was beautiful and there's an open kitchen right in the middle. We were seated near the kitchen in a booth. I told our server that I am lactose tolerant, and she said something that I missed. She then walked away and came back with a pink slip with all the items on the menu on what I need to avoid and dishes that they can make modifications. I thought that was such a sweet touch that I've never experienced before. For appetizers, we got the tuna poke and pig head croquette. The fresh tuna poke on top of a crispy nori was a very tasty bite but the tuna was a bit chewy from the sinew. The pig head croquette was amazing. Perfectly fried and meaty bite. It paired well with the fresh cube of watermelon and fish caramel sauce. For entrees, the black cod was a huge surprise for me. I didn't think I would like it but it became the night's highlight. The fish was perfectly cooked and served on top of crispy rice with a very mild but impressionable coconut green curry sauce. The second highlight for me was the pork shoulder chop. Very tender and juicy cut with really good sauce. The miso cabbage and the candied pecans really gave that extra oomph to each bite. Lastly, the fried game hen was fried so perfectly and was super juicy inside. The pickled carrot was meh for me though. For desserts, we ended with a milk tea panna cotta with stone fruit granita and tuile. It was made with coconut milk which is for a lactose intolerant girly like me. Not a budget meal, but imo, well worth the gastronomical and hospitable experience.
