I've been here a few times, coming back to give them another chance, but at this point I am fed up... They get my order wrong every time I come and I have allergies that require an EpiPen. We ordered 3 tacos and it came out to close to$25 ridiculous. We didn't even order the specialty tacos... such a scam. If you want good breakfast tacos go literally anywhere else. They gave me unseasoned potatoes and an avocado slice in my taco to make up for them getting my order wrong. My boyfriend only got potatoes egg and cheese, like how do u get that wrong?? I will never be coming here and will do my best to help other people stay away. Go to Granny's tacos- down the street if you want to get your moneys worth- any other family owned taco spot is better than here. I read about all the drama going on with the murals and people getting their panties in a wad about the "Indigenous"murals on the exterior walls (which by the way were already there when the place was a tire shop) and quite frankly didn't really agree with all those opinions, so I decide to go check this place out for lunch since it's not far from where I work. My feelings align with quite a few reviews I've already read about them.... overpriced for what you get. I ordered the chicken sandwich which was one of the lower-priced items on the menu at $10. This sandwich was definitely not something I would ever pay $10 for again. First of all it was too dang small... maybe if the taste was out of this world I would consider it but since my last bite had two or three small bones in it I have no intention of ever returning to try anything else. Solid neighborhood food and coffee for East Austin. Quick, convenient, constantly good and friendly staff. The outdoor turf area has bags and ping pong table, and would be a great place to meet up spring/summer with friends. Personal favorite is the cauliflower muffaletta - bread is wonderful, olive mix and arugula are fresh, and the roasted cauliflower is perfectly cooked. They used to have a wonder pork porchetta that was done on the rotisserie, but haven't seen it on the menu in a few months - hope they bring it back, would be great for the fall/winter. read more

Was house/dog sitting in the area and walked over for breakfast. They have lots of outdoor seating and are pet friendly. Had a chorizo taco and it was very yummy. What I like the best is that it was nice and hot, freshly made. The coffee was perfect, hot and just a little string the way I love it. As great restaurants do Lou's Bodega will pull you in from more than one direction .I confess what chefs call "large format dishes" often sparks the oversized, overpriced, Instagram chum. BUT my doubts were no match for chef K.K.'s, dripping's rotisserie potatoes, Cole slaw, and Pork porkchetta, rotisserie cooked to a cheeselike ripeness and carved into diffrent slices to show the diffrent facets of pork. Lou's eastside crunch was a fantastic and filling salad. Easy take out available with call ins and simple parking out front to pick up. Rotisserie chicken is a must and fantastic and super filling and flavorful. Salad itself was filling and had flavor considering it was kale based. Lots of crunch and healthy and tons of bites. A few beers available and menu is updated no stop so you know what to expect. Great operation and prices typical of a lunch spot at $15 most with meal with protein. Finally tried this place and I was definitely disappointed. I ordered the beef sandwich. Too greasy. And I ordered the Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts weren't even trimmed. The burger was skimpy for a 10$ burger. The fries were undercooked to the point of being raw on the inside. The strangest part though, was how hard the doughnuts are. Maybe there are other good items, but the green chili cheeseburger and fries that I had, was simply not good. read more

Update - went back to eat. The chicken is incredible. Highly recommend. Beef was good, but definitely get the chicken over the beef. The sprouts were not good.....very soggy. They'd be much better if they baked or broiled them to give them a little crispness. The custard is fantastic. I didn't eat so just reviewing based on the atmosphere and drinks. But it's fantastic. Nice, big outdoor seating areas (dog friendly) with lots of shade and ping pong tables. They did an awesome job preserving the beautiful murals which were here from the previous business. Very fun atmosphere with lots of charm. The draft cold brew coffee is great. The foods looks and smells good. I'll definitely be back to try it out! A welcome addition to the neighborhood. read more

Great concept from a great homegrown restaurant group. Dont miss the porchetta, cauliflower, or piri piri sauce! All of the food wildly over delivers. The remodel of a classic Austin tire shop paid homage by keeping and restoring the original murals, and it's not hard to spot references to the building's past. Ok they have the most amazing salads. I come here all the time for a healthy lunch or dinner and I have never had a better Greek salad in Austin. My boyfriend gets the 1/2 chicken or one of the sandwiches and they never disappoint !! I love this place. read more

Overall solid take away or eat there spot if your ok outside. They discontinued a family favorite, their cesar salad, Whick was a main reason we loved this place so we have basically gone from picking up 2-3 times per month to not going at all. That cost them a star in our book. Somehow the other items without the salad fall flat. Also price vs qty is a bit high for take out, as you can sit and be waited on many places near by for the same cost of a meal here. Their whole chicken is very small so a half is a bit small to make a dinner out of it and salad/sides. read more

Lou's is thoroughly awesome. The staff is super pleasant, everything on the menu is ace, and the dining's areas are spacious and welcoming.

Don't have outrageous prices for sides like Brussel sprouts if u are going to fill the box 1/4. Place has good food but prices don't match quantity on half the menu. Educate the kitchen that you are charging a lot for this kind of food - big portions should be a given read more

The food is really good. Especially the chicken and beef. You can make it your own by picking which sauce you'd like- my personal favorite the smoked paprika piri- piri. Prices are on par with other Austin restaurants. They're back patio area looks really fun for when the weather warms up- there are ping pong tables and cornhole. Take a lot of the reviews for this place with a grain of salt- a lot of reviewers have not tried the food and instead have only given poor reviews based on this new restaurant's location, what used to be there, and the mural that they kept instead of getting rid of. Avoid this place...We ordered drinks at 10:45 and the bartender asked us if we wanted to leave the tab open. We said yes thinking we might order another drink later. A few minutes after we noticed that the bar was closing so we asked to close our tab. The lady informed us that our tab had been closed and we would be charged %20 for not having closed our tab. I said that we did not no the bar was closing or we would have closed the tab. She said that we should have known the bar was closing. Absolutely hostile attitude toward us. This place is a favorite of mine. The breakfast is great, chorizo breakfast tacos are the shit. Dirty orchata I can't usually go there without having at least two. The custard will give you an aneurism it's so good. They have great dinner selections the rotisserie beef dish is knock your socks off worthy. The atmosphere is killer. I don't know why more people don't congregate at Lous they have an awesome open space to play bags, watch the hipsters roll by on scooters and suck down 36,000 Lone Stars. The Nutella bun is incredible. Reminder on the orchata for all you tourist folks orchata is a Mexican concoction and most places that have it do it right and it's worth trying out because Lous has great horchata. The salads are awesome they have great to go salads and other wrapped goods if you live in the area and want something to take home or to the office. It's also awesome they have tons of parking which is very rare in this area. read more

Lou's a great. Their b-fast burritos are all delicious and the burgers also quite good. Very consistent in quality and staff is very pleasant to deal with. Glad they are still operating during COVID and providing great food for East Austin. I how they continue to thrive. If you haven't tried Lou's, I'd highly recommend you do. I've only had them to-go sinceI'm not comfortable eating indoors during the pandemic.
