We read the reviews for this place & they seemed fine. The prices seemed reasonable too. So we decided to give it a try. We had a work party last night & we each ordered our own meals. I ordered the General Gao dinner combo with vegetables & brown rice. The vegetables & rice were good, but the chicken wasn't. Instead of nice, soft, tasty cubes of chicken, it was like eating fried chicken fritters. The chicken was very over cooked & hard & chewy. The chicken was cut up into thin sliced patties, not the typical way to make General Gau. I couldn't eat much of it-I threw it away. Two other coworkers who ordered orange chicken meals had the same bad experience. This was our first time eating here. I'm not sure I would return. read more

The chicken and broccoli and the house special beef were both absolutely scrumptious!! So tender, so flavorful, so amazing. The duck sauce ($0.55) is worth the upcharge, but left us longing for an egg roll to dip in it. We found it to be somewhat disappointing that they only offered one small side of rice for two main dishes, but we made it work. Got delivery from Door Dash. Arrived fairly quickly so at least main dish was still fairly hot. Had gotten a meal from this place before and thought it was not that good but wanted to give it another chance. Did like it a bit better this time, but still found it pretty mediocre. Got Kung Pao Chicken, fried rice and Spring Roll. All came well packaged. Portions are a decent size. The Chicken was ok...but did not have quite the zing I like in Kung Pao. Spring Roll was fine but a bit undercooked and the rice was ok but kind of bland. Better with Duck Sauce. Hot And Sour Soup was tasty but far from the best I have had. This is not really a zing review that old Stinky P.is posting, and maybe he will order from them again sometime, but will be in no hurry to do so. read more

We ordered a rainbow roll, drunken noodles and beef curry soup. The beef curry soup had great flavor and nice tender beef. The noodles were a great addition. The rainbow roll was nothing to write home about, but nonetheless good. The drunken noodles unfortunately were wayyy too saucy. I should have ordered some rice to eat it with after but that's ok. The flavor was good, albeit incredibly sweet , but no spice AT ALL and the menu said spicy. The broccoli was cooked nicely. Again the chicken was nice and tender. After several visits, it's safe to say this place is overall better than average. Their sweet and sour chicken along with general Tsos is really fantastic. That being said, there are a few things that aren't that good. First , their fried rice is pretty oily and has a weird flavor/aroma too it. It's almost peanut buttery. Very weird. While I didn't order it this time around, their Lo Mein is loaded with onions. And the last thing is rather trivial but irks me. They don't provide any duck sauce with their meals. You must purchase a rather small portion for $.55. Is it good? Absolutely delicious. This last visit, I paid for 2 but the receipt on the bag reflected only one. Guess they got me for $.55. Massively annoying. Could easily be 4.5 starts if not for the rice and duck sauce. read more

The lunch menu left a little to be lacking. The sweet-and-sour chicken was greasy and was fried and something that had a bit of an odd taste. The fried rice really had no depth of flavor and was bland. However, the dumplings were phenomenal and the sauce was good. I was charged additional monies for Duck Sauce and I didn't get any so a bit of a quality check on the delivery. I used to live closer to Lotus Express, so I'd go every so often. I hadn't been in a few years, so I was happy when I found myself back in the area near lunch time. I grabbed myself an order of tofu, veggies, and rice with red curry. So good! The tofu pieces were HUGE, and nice and crispy on the outside. The veggies were fresh, perfectly steamed... the curry was so creamy with the exact amount of spice level I like. (Medium spice). The order was so large, I could barely eat half. I saved the rest for dinner, and shared with my husband. Was just as delicious the second time around, even after being reheated in the microwave. Their food is as consistently as fresh and tasty now as it was when I was a more frequent customer, and I highly recommend it! read more

One line: quality Asian comfort food in Somerville! Stopped by today for lunch with a few friends and I was immediately impressed with how clean this place was! There are about 5-6 small tables and a bar facing the street. The menu has everything from Thai, Chinese, and sushi, with a number of beef, chicken, and fish options. I went with the Orange Sesame Chicken--normally 9.25, but I ordered the lunch combo for 8.25 which included veggie fried rice and a choice of appetizer (spring roll, dumpling, or crab rangoon--I went with crab rangoon). The food came in 5 minutes or less and the presentation was really impressive--the appetizers came on little individual dishes and the rice was arranged nicely. The chicken was tender and some pieces were crispy on the outside. The sauce was thick, sweet, and very rich. The rice was a nice texture but a bit dry (however, it may have just felt like that because I'm used to oily rice...) I LOVED the crab rangoon. It was perfectly crisp and so tasty--also incredibly filling. 3 hours later and I can't imagine being hungry anytime soon. The service was excellent: very responsive and quick.
