I haven't written a review in years, but this felt like it needed attention brought to it. The food was good. HOWEVER, the greed and gall is hard to swallow. You can see my order attached. Their website's description of the item, and my request. I understand not all restaurants will submit to special requests, and that's fine. However, what they did was classless. Instead of making the substitution, or just not complying and giving the crab rangoon anyway, they simply deleted the crab rangoon and didn't make up for them in any way. I received 4 chicken wings, 2 chicken teriyaki, and not a lot of boneless spareribs. So they took my money for the crab rangoon, and kept the crab rangoon. Very disappointing to essentially not get something you paid for.

After having traveled to China many times I learned the difference between "American Chinese" food I grew up with and "Real Chinese" food which is totally different and amazing. Rose's serves American Chinese food, so it's not fair to judge this for anything else. Our first foray here included Beef with Hunan Style Beef with Mixed Vegetables and Fried Dumplings for take-out. Very fresh ingredients, vegetables were not over-cooked and generous portions for very reasonable prices. Rose's has a pretty extensive menu and also has some sushi at moderate prices- which I didn't try.

I used to live in Medford and would come here all the time. I really enjoy their Chinese food, it tastes fresh and it's not too greasy like some places. I always get the meat fried rice, chicken teriyaki and the shrimp lobster sauce. I was really shocked that the shrimp was so big, it is not like the baby shrimp they typically serve in the rice. The chicken teriyaki is cooked to your liking, you just have to let them know so they don't overcook it. I have also tried the chicken wings and the chicken fingers and those taste good too, they're nice and crispy. The customer service isn't the greatest but it is not the worst.

Always love ordering from here whenever I'm in Medford. The sushi always taste fresh and my tempura has a whole lot of crunch even when. The combination plate does not taste heavy like 'typical' Chinese take out. The food does not seem to be heavily coated and I don't feel sluggish after finishing it up!

Recently moved to Somerville and I am in search of good Chinese food . Some places were a hit or miss . I drive by Rose's Restaurant almost every day . After doing some extensive researching I've decided on this place . Went to pick up on a New Year's Day late at night . Food was ready and packed very well . Owner - staff seemed pleasant . Surprisingly food was absolutely delicious. Ingredients were fresh and piping hot. Rose's will be my go to Chinese spot when ever I crave for it .

Good restaurant, delicious food, order from Rose's Chinese restaurant years, very good service

Zoomed in on the pork fried rice. Cooked rice is not opaque inside like this.

I forgot how swanky looking the place was, and that still impressed. -- Egg Rolls: Cradled in a wicker basket, crisp on the outside, celery, and pork on the inside, a bit dry, but good flavor. A little above average. -- Spare Ribs on the bone: Painted on every surface with a nice char to complement the glaze. A thicker cut than most. Just like last time, they looked like a reheat, but still had very good texture (tender, moist) and decent enough flavor. Above average. -- Pork Egg Foo Yong: A trio of thick patties flooded with light brown sauce. Good crispness underneath. Soft and tender with big chunks of pork that wasn't dried out. Good overall flavor from the fry, the onions, and the pork, as well as the sauce. Near-elite to elite. -- Kung Pao Chicken: A little different here, with much larger shreds of chicken, a little darker than most, less celery and peanuts than most, a profusion of peppers, and pleasing spiciness to the soy-based sauce. Very enjoyable. Above average to well above average. -- Peking Noodles: A little different, and in a good way. More of a fine shred than a crumble, much spicier, and a little gloppier. Good feel to the egg noodles. I don't get this dish often enough to compare, but I enjoyed it. No OMG moments, but no complaints. Solid lunch, flavorful entrees, and I departed with a higher opinion than before. Upping to 4 stars.

Everytime we show up for dinner there is always alot of take out orders which is a good sign. There is one very nice waitress which runs around alot when the place is packed but she does a very good job of providing timely service to everyone. We really enjoy the hand pulled noodles which is a must every time we done in. They are cooked perfectly and are packed with flavor of whichever dish you choose them with. We also really enjoy their dry hot pot, especially the shrimp dry pot. It's a stir fry kind of dish packed with several veggies like red peppers, broccoli and much more! The soups are also very good and rich in flavor and are perfect for a chilly day. Some of them are served in a large portion so they are perfect for sharing. You really can't go wrong with any dish! The menu is insanely long and they have a code system for each item tagged with a letter and number which makes it easier to order. We really enjoy dining here and it's always fun to try a new dish from their large menu!

One that you had…read moreonce, one that eventually drifted apart due to whatever circumstances, and then finding each other again in the most unexpected moment and regaining that wonderful traction of a friendship all over again. Yes, I'm talking about food. It was once a tale of two spots. One in Watertown and one right here. As I resided in closer to the Watertown location since the move here, I frequented it and found solace in their dishes - absolute comfort food that was done very well. However, like all businesses, things change and eventually the business was sold. I knew there was a transition period and the owner and chefs stuck around to "train" the new owners. I hoped that the "good" would remain and that the new owners would continue the tradition of wonderfully curated dishes and keep the regulars coming back. Did it happen? No. I gave them about a month of repeated visits to gauge their level of culinary competence but it never came through. Long story short. I stopped going and that feeling of lost love began to fester. I didn't think much of it. I thought he had sold this place too since I've often overheard him saying how hard it was to run this business to his associates as he tried to satisfy every customer walking in the door or ringing the phone off the hook. So when I finally found a chance to be on this side of town, I decided to stop by and give it a shot. Maybe, maybe I thought, the new owners here would do a much better take on what they had taken over. What I didn't expect after placing an order was to see the owner walking out from the kitchen with dishes in hand to serve another table. Eyes wide open, I couldn't help but say, "HEY! Good to see you again." He in return showed the same look and smiled greeting me back with fondness and delight. That's when I spoke to the lady and asked more about the whole situation, wherein she explained how they sold the other place but kept this one. Regulars of the other spot now take the 15-20 minute drive just to come up here instead for a meal. I smiled. It made sense. They must have felt robbed when they went back after the place was sold. Food wasn't even remotely the same. Don't even talk about service either. Anyways, long story short, when the food came out. I felt this completeness return back to my soul. Here, once again, I felt home away from home. The food did me justice. The flavors impeccable. The culinary finesse was displayed thoroughly with each bite. So it is, once again, I found my long lost love again in Boston and can't wait to be here every single Sunday for a wonderful special meal that teleports me back to what "Home Tastes" like.

Food was about 8/10. We didn't try any of the true Sechuan dishes, so I couldn't tell you how "authentic" it is in the spice department. However, we did not regret coming here instead of braving the traffic and terrible parking situation in Chinatown on a Friday evening. Prices were about average: not great, not terrible. The two of us shared three dishes with a little bit taken home in a to-go container, for about seventy bucks with tip. Service was good even though our server's English was spotty at best, but she was prompt, energetic, and plenty friendly enough. They leave a tall pitcher of water at every table, which I wish every restaurant would do. It shows that they don't expect to make most of their money pushing overpriced soft drinks and crappy beer like many places. Ambiance is actually pretty good, though the tables were pushed closer together than I would've liked. This would not be a bad place to take a date. I saw a lot of young-ish couples, many of them sharing large pans of whole baked fish with veggies...will have to try that next time!

Fish Fillet with Hot Chili Sauce水煮魚片: As expected of their signature dish! The basa fish fillets were incredibly tender, the Szechuan peppercorns were fragrant but not numbing, and the overall flavor was oily but not greasy. The server would remove the chilies after serving, so there was no need to worry about the spiciness. Beef Fillets & Cabbage with Hot Chili Sauce水煮牛肉: Redder and spicier than the boiled fish. The Szechuan people present commented that this was the only dish with flavor. The beef was very tender; although you could taste the tenderizing powder, it wasn't a big problem. Scallions and Szechuan peppercorns contributed much to the fragrance. Pork Intestine with Preserved Vegetable酸菜大腸: Surprisingly, it tasted like... Hakka cuisine? The pork intestines were cut on the thicker side, not the usual kind, but the slightly sour and spicy flavor with a light thickening was just right. Spicy Frog in Fried Pot乾鍋牛蛙: Despite the name, there was a lot of sauce; the bullfrog meat was too tough and chewy. Not recommended. Ma Po Tofu (With minced pork)麻婆豆腐: Very delicious! The tofu was very tender, and the Sichuan peppercorns were very fragrant. Duck with Peking Plum Sauce京醬鴨片: The duck meat was mushy and lacked texture, and the Beijing plum sauce was heavily diluted. I had a feeling of not knowing what I had eaten. Sichuan Spicy Dumpling紅油水餃: I loved them!! The dumplings were large, the filling was generous, and the skin was on the thicker side, giving them a good chewy and firm texture. Besides the chili oil and peanuts, there was a hint of vinegar, which was very refreshing. Steamed Juicy Pork Bun小籠包: The restaurant claims they are handmade daily. Plenty of soup filling, but slightly oily; the skin was chewy but not dry, unfortunately one was broken.
