Brazil On The Hill

I have been very satisfied with the services I've received from Brazil on the Hill over the past…read morethree years. The studio space is very welcoming, clean, and full of calming scents from the natural products also being sold there. I recently bought a mango butter cream that I LOVE. My Brazilian wax treatments are never as painful as I expect, I feel comfortable, and I always leave my session very satisfied with the outcome. I highly recommend Julie from Brazil on the Hill. She is awesome:)

Hello Earlier today,…read moreas a birthday gift to myself, I decided to pamper myself and get my first ever bikini wax. Brazil on the Hill received some pretty good reviews and it was close by, so I put my faith in them to rip out my hair. Getting an appointment was super easy, but when I got there, I was left waiting for around 10 minutes after my appointment time. I filled out the sheet saying specifically that I have sensitive skin. Once Katie came to take me to one of the back rooms, I explained to her that it was my first time ever getting waxed anywhere except my eyebrows. She told me we would do just a regular bikini at first instead of a full brazilian which sounded good to me. There was no consultation other than her telling me to keep my dress on and take off my panties and put them on the chair. Katie came back in and without letting me explain what I wanted, she started putting hot wax on my upper bikini line. And I commented, "ow, the wax is hot" and she didn't say anything about it. She proceeded to use a strip to rip my poor little hairs out. I've read a lot online on how you should always use hard wax on the bikini line, especially for sensitive skin, because it doesn't remove a layer of skin. There was no mention of what kind of wax used here on the website, waiver, or in person. The heat made me very uncomfortable and my skin is very irritated. When the first strip was pulled, I vocalized my pain, and Katie told me to be quiet because they "have other customers". In between strips, I tried to tell Katie what I wanted, and she told me that with my length of hair, what I wanted would look weird. I felt very uncomfortable by her saying that, because it seemed very judgmental, and people online say that esthetician should not be judgmental is because it is their job to look at people's private parts. I should not have felt embarrassed about my body when someone is doing something very personal for my body. The wax continued to feel very hot on my sensitive skin. Katie went back over places multiple times with more wax strips which is dangerous because it removes a layer of skin every time. Hard wax can be used over spots multiple times but not soft wax (which again, was not advertised). When she was done with the regular bikini, she asked me to sit up and look at what I have to see if I wanted to continue with a brazilian or an extended bikini. My skin was sticking to itself because it still had wax residue on it, which was painful on my red, bleeding, sensitive skin. When I said I was done, Katie (very aggressively) rubbed oil into my freshly waxed skin and I vocalized "that hurts" and she did not respond. Once she was done, she just walked out. No words on aftercare, or if I was even ready to go and put on my panties again on my bleeding, oily skin. I would have loved to hear about aftercare from a professional to avoid ingrown hairs because I'm susceptible to them, but I didn't get any assistance. For a first timer, it was not the best way to end an appointment. Luckily I did get the 50% discount for being a new customer, but even the $18 I spent was not worth all the pain and discomfort (both physically and emotionally) I went through for a gift for myself on my birthday. EDIT I got a call earlier today from Katie herself apologizing for the service I received and she offered a full refund. I still didn't get the service I wanted or expected, but I added a star for the attempt to fix it.

Prior to booking, we called to ask specifically about using a SpaFinder gift card and were advised that it would be accepted. However, after our service concluded, I was informed that the gift card was not accepted after all. Had I been given accurate information, I would not have proceeded with the service that day. During this interaction, a young blonde-haired employee approached the front desk, stated "of course we don't take it," rolled her eyes, and walked away. I've had acrylic removed and dip put on 2x and 1 pedicure. I've easily made appts but could have walked in for how many technicians are working (I've been on Sat and Mon). My 2nd appt I added on my 3 yr old daughter last minute no problem. The cost is the lowest, without quality suffering, in the area and I drive down from Estes Park. I couldn't believe the cost for my appt yesterday. $53 for dip removal and application AND my dtrs nails! Sure, hers took about 7 mins but the woman who did them while Phillip did amazing work on mine, was so kind to my daughter who had never had her nails done. I'm new to nails having bit them until age 38 so I'm learning but the photo is from yesterday and Phillip did exactly as I asked. We considered tips for my broken thumb nails but he worked with what I had which is what I preferred. I share this though bc he could have done just about anything with his skill set. Only ding would be if you want to get funky or decorative on a pedicure, they didn't have any options. Might have been a language barrier. I absolutely recommend this business. read more

Best nail salon in Boulder, without a doubt! Tony has been my nail technician for a year and a half and I am thrilled each time I leave the salon. He recently did my nails for my wedding and I got SO MANY compliments! I've also had several pedicures as well and I always feel pampered and very happy with my feet, not just my toes. The staff here is genuinely friendly and seeks to provide top notch customer service. The selection of colors (regular, gel, or powder dip) is impressive. And then, when you go to check out you'll be amazed at how inexpensive their services are! To receive the quality of work at those prices is a pleasant surprise for your wallet. And in Boulder that's pretty rare! I am so bummed they'll be closed for a few months as they prepare their new space next door and get settled in, but I can't wait to visit them there! Be ready to visit them when they reopen! You won't be disappointed! read more

I love Lotus Nails! I moved to Boulder last August and was looking for a great local nail salon. My roommates recommended I try Lotus Nails. I have been going there ever since the first time I tried it out. The nail techs are extremely nice and make sure they make my nails exactly how I want them. Tony is so kind and gets every detail of my nails perfect. He is extremely informative when explaining the process and warned me about the possible damage that can happen to acrylics when left on too long and start to lift and water gets inside them. I have been getting acrylics on and off for years and not a single other tech has told me that! I love the concern and care he puts into my nails and he is such a nice guy to talk to. I am glad I chose Lotus Nails and I definitely won't be going anywhere else for the rest of my time here in Boulder! read more

Highly Recommended!!! You Will Never Feel It Until You Try It Out... Greatly, We Did... It's hard to find a nail salon when we travel around that supply our needs satisfyingly. Luckily, I visited Boulder with a few friends and booked an appointment at the high-standard nail salon, researched on Google, Facebook, and Yelp. We all experienced a great time while spending time to enjoy the week. We all smiled and left happily with the services, products, and staffs at Lotus Nail. I see they (Nail Technicians) are so friendly, supportive, caretaker, and very professional at their jobs. Especially, they know what they are doing, so we do not spend a lot of time to be hard, so we relaxed the whole time. That's what we are looking for. We will surely come back here again for the great and the best. Thank You Very Much, Lotus Nails!!! read more

I had a great experience at Lotus today getting a gel manicure. The staff was really friendly and the owner(?) introduced himself to me and offered me water. There were tons of gel colors to choose from and the owner told me that if a nail chipped within a week, I could come back in and they would fix it for free. The woman who did my nails was super careful. Usually I end up with a poorly cut cuticle at some point during a manicure, but she took a long time and was really gentle to make sure my nails were prepped well. She also took a long time painting my nails so that they came out perfectly. It took a lot longer than most manicures, so I would suggest going when you have the time. However,I would rather it take longer and come out beautifully than be a rushed job. read more

I have never been so happy with a nail salon in my life! I get pedicures and gel acrylics at Lotus Nails and have been a customer for about a year. There have only been a couple times where I wasn't 100% happy with my nails and the customer service made up for it entirely. They do fantastic shape and designs. All of their technicians are great at what they do and super friendly/cool. EVERY time I go to get an acrylic fixed (let's say one week after I got a fill/new set one of the nails broke off) they put a new one on for free and have never asked me to pay, infant, they have refused my money. Tonya is always very welcoming, very accommodating, and is very easy to explain to when you have a more thorough nail request. Both times I got acrylic nails. The first time, I got stiletto-shaped nails in a solid nude color. She didn't have a nude gel, just shellac paint to go over the regular gel color. I prefer gel vs. shellac, I think shellac sometimes looks cheap. BUT the color ended up looking great, I wasn't a huge fan of the shape (it was my first time trying it) but she did it exactly like I showed her since it was a mix between stiletto and almond. Extremely clean & spotless. Staff was nice, especially to my mom. I appreciated that. The chairs for our pedicures were nice, worked, and the service was exactly as described. Overall nice experience & we will be back.

I have been a customer over the years at this location. I went in a couple of days ago spent $80 in total I gave them my credit card and said please deduct five dollars as was stated in my text. The owner said it was too late that they had already run my credit card and they couldn't do it and that I should just wait for next time. I said just void that and run it again and he refused to do it. I don't understand if they know me as a customer and have my phone number in their system that the discount is not done automatically. I will never set foot in there again.

Instrumental piano music playing. I got a deluxe pedicure and it was truly lavish. Lots of extras and steps that elevated the experience like a heated neck pillow. I live right around the corner and haven't tried this place before bc of the reviews. Anyway, check this place out and don't let the reviews keep you from trying it.
