Nick is amazing! If you need a person, someone you would travel across town to see to get your nails done, this is the person. Not only does he tend to your cuticles when you get a full set which most nail techs do not do, he gives you a hand massage, he takes his time insure they blend with your nail bed and do not look chunky and he is so detail oriented! I can show him any picture and he brings the design to life! I will have this as my nails tech until I move out of CO! Highly recommend you book with him! Only issue I have is he is booked often and if he has an appointment before yours it can run over and you end up waiting a little long for your set appointment. I've been stopped on public transit, by my own students (I work with undergrads), and by strangers everywhere that compliment both my quality and design. Kelly makes sure you leave with a design you want and strives for perfection. I'm terrible at taking photos of my hands and they still look great. As for the pedicures, by far the best I've ever had. A friend recommended I try Empress Nails Salon after a horrible experience with another nail salon and mediocre service at a different nail salon before that. I made an appointment and was seen within the hour. Mondays tend to be slow for them. I tried dip nails on my hands for the first time ever, and their "luxury pedicure." This place is spacious, not too loud, and takes hygiene very seriously. They do not use cheese graters on your feet. Instead, it's a hand mixer with a sanding piece on the end, and after massaging the gel into your feet, they sand away the dead skin and calluses. It is AMAZING and much safer! They also offer various scrubs for the pedicure, and I tried the honey one today. So luxurious! Don't get me wrong, the manicure was fantastic too. I've never had dip nails before so I had no other experience to compare it to. I love that it's healthier for my nails than gel, though! The prices were a little higher than I've paid in other places, but for the service and hygiene standards, it was well worth it. My manicure was $40 and the luxury pedicure ($45) with gel polish ($15) was $60 for a total of $100, before tip. I look forward to going back in a couple weeks and trying ombré dip nails! read more

I came here December 30th. And honestly forgot about my nails until yesterday, January 23rd. One of the dip nails finally cracked. I realized it was time to get them done again. I work in construction so my nails don't typically last a full 2 weeks let alone 3! I am very excited to have found a place that can do my nails to last. I'm a bit sad because my natural nail broke when I was removing the bits of cracked nail so I have one shorter than the rest. But I am still highly impressed. If I could give Empress (especially Vicki & Nick) a 10 star rating, I would do it in a heartbeat! Since I live in Littleton now, I've tried maybe 8-10 different nail salons in the Denver area since & I keep coming back to Empress because of the people and the quality of their work. I get my nails done with dip powder once a month with either Vicki or Nick, and they are the ABSOLUTE best!! Vicki does my moms nails as well and they last for at least a month without chipping, lifting up at the cuticle, cracking, etc. Nick has been doing my nails recently and he is PHENOMENAL. He's so kind, really easy to talk to, insanely creative & very attentive to detail. I came in this month wanting something different & he gave me this stunning rose gold/marble dip manicure on my real nails. I've been here before and loved Kelly, I'm usually hesitant in general getting my nails done and when the first time with Kelly, my nails turned out great! I knew I had to come back. My friend and I called to make appointments and asked to be seated together. When we arrived we had to wait an hour and a half to get our nails started , red flag number one. During my set, she stopped and went to do another lady's nail, mind you I already waited an hour and half even with scheduling an appointment. Then she continues to do my nails and not once shaped them or filed the underneath like you normally do for any set. So I waited 3-4 full hours for a set that wasn't even shaped. And at the end of it all, I still tipped regardless of the horrible service and nails, because granted it's still a service and it took hours for absolutely no reason. As for my girlfriend, I felt really bad because I told her this was a great place and it was her first time here. She asked for ombré nails and mid way the lady told her she couldn't do it exactly like the picture because pictures are photoshop, if that's the case just be honest say you can't do it so a different idea can be chosen or not to proceed with all that time just to remove it all. After it was removed my nail told my girlfriend If she waits after my set she can get her done in 30 mins ,( mind you we been here for 3-4 hours at this point ) My friend proceeds to say no and that she can pay for the removal or anything that was serviced. After finishing my nails she pushes even more to tell my girlfriend to come back tomorrow she will discount her. On top of all of that i understand the conversation between the nail techs because I'm Vietnamese and it was horrible the things they were saying. And still received a tip from me. Anyways I never like leaving reviews like this but if you're considering to come here , don't unless it's with Kelly. read more

Not for me. I've had dipping done for a year; I love the product as my nails are stronger with dipping than gel polish/shellac. My normal lady, in California, spends an hour doing my dipping, shaping the product so it looks like a natural nail. My appointment today at Empress was maybe 30 min and it looks like I have horse hooves on my nails, thick and not well shaped; the nails are also not smooth. I paid $48, with tip, in California I paid $42, with tip, and had gorgeous nails that would last 3 weeks. I personally didn't find Empress relaxing, it's too big and things felt rushed. The tip of my nails were shaped well and the technician helped me pick a nice colour. Obviously a lot of people are happy with Empress by the Yelp reviews; just wasn't a good fit for me. Update: tried another nail salon recommended by a friend 2 weeks later. The dipping was applied the way I am use to it being applied: thin, no bumps, by a patient technician, and for $42 including a 20% tip. When the Empress Nails dipping was removed my new nail tech noted my nail bed had been damaged. read more

The last two times I have gone into empress nails they have gave given me a really bad manicure - within days shellac was falling apart not to mention the planters wart they gave me on my foot. I picked this salon because it had almost 5 stars and I was looking for a new salon since my favorite place changed management. To say that this was the worst service I've ever had since moving to CO, it's an understatement! I should have left the moment my technician said she was still DRUNK from last night after a night clubbing and getting back home at 4AM. Yes, she was drunk, you're reading this right! And she's the one who told me, almost like bragging. Unfortunately I found out about this "little detail" after she was done with my pedicure and started my nails. Mainly cause she was downing Mentos to cover the smell of alcohol and she had to catch her breath a few times. I thought she was going to vomit on me! The Pedi was the worst I've ever had, lasted 20 min, she kept leaving while in the middle of it, didn't get the cuticles cut or pushed, didn't scrub the bottom of feet, the nail polish is all over the place, she cut my nails so short, it's embarrassing! Then I got a full set and it is nothing like what I asked! I had to ask her to reshape my nails twice because they're crooked, they're chunky and the nail polish, again just uneven. I could go on about all the things she decided to share which we're very unprofessional and made me feel extremely uncomfortable! But I don't want to tell her business around. It was a lot and very graphic, the lady next to us kept looking at me in shock. Needless to say, I'll never be back! I'm still shocked about it. I didn't even get her name but she had pink hair. I can't believe they allow people to work in that state. Wow! Nope, I'll let the picture speak for themselves ‍ Oh and I tipped 20% because I just do, it's Christmas, yet I didn't get the Christmas gift everyone was getting, probably cause I did basic services instead of buying all the extras they were trying to sell me. Positives: the salon is beautiful and so spacious that it is cozy and relaxing. The nail tech was very nice all in all. Negatives: my shellac nail quality is alright. Some are thicker than others, are rough and bumpy which you luckily can't tell cause of glitter, and not painted to rims of the nail bed. It looks as if they are grown out a week. Online it says they do eyelashes, and when I asked all she said was not right now.... Asked for just gel polish no manicure and still got and paid for manicure. The service was rude, the pedicure was rushed with no massage and the end result was embarrassing! We asked to have them fixed. The same person who originally did them came to redo them with the same rushed, one coat job with no base coat or top coat. A second person came to fix the polish and once again rushed and only put base coat & top coat on 2 nails. I know how these services should be done as I did nails for 13 years & these people should be ashamed to send people out the door looking like this. Had a horrible experience at Jasmine Nails off Tower Rd and was hesitant to try a new nail place (CHEAPPPPP nails that broke off, tons of bubbles on polish the same day, expensive and pressured me into upgraded services, and MORE!). I called ahead for an appointment and was put in that day. Check-in was easy on their tablet. My nail tech was not too chatty with me but I do not mind at all. I care about service. She provided great quality nails at an affordable price. Which is what should be. Polish was much nicer, nails have lasted longer. I do the dishes frequently and the shellac polish still looks good! First time here today and I made an appointment the day before for a mani/pedi right when they open. They made my appointment for 9:30 and when I got there, they already had 4-5 customers. I was worried they wouldn't see me right away as they must've opened early, but they had me pick my colors and got me right in. One of the techs suggested the OPI gel polish over some of the others & I was pleased she told me there was a better selection over another. They seem to get busy pretty early in the morning but I didn't feel rushed. Received a great pedi and I really liked that they didn't have someone working on my mani at the same time as my pedicure. I don't really like having my nails done in my lap. My nails turned out great, my toes turned out great, and as of today, I will be returning. Amy did a great job. I am very sad because I really wanted to like this place! It is a very convenient location for me. The staff here was very nice and I was pretty happy until the end of my manicure. I let the lady talk me into doing the powder dip instead of shellac and I was okay with paying $10 more because she said it would be better for my nails. She never had me soak my fingers for the manicure, did the paint, then began cutting my cuticles. I get manicures done 2x a month so it's not like they were terrible. Anyway she cut my finger so much, it continued to bleed the whole time I was there! It was very cold today so I put gloves on. When I arrived home, I was excited to show my husband my new color and all he could see was my bloody finger! Anyway, I feel like she could have said sorry at the very least. I'm give this a 3 star rating, but I had a decent experience overall. The 3 stars is just because this is a brand new salon and they definitely have some protocol to set up. (3/25/17 was my first visit). The salon was beautiful. My nails looked great, my pedicure was thorough and my brow wax was done well. They were also very clean and offered 20% off to all customers for their grand opening. I ended up getting passed to 3 different technicians because my nail tech had another customer coming in though, so figuring out tip was a nightmare. Is really hard to find a good nail salon in CO. My first time here and my last. Honestly I never understood what's the point of making appointments when you still have to wait. Made the appointment for noon arrived 10 minutes early and had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. All the one star reviews about this salon is true. All the tech is not experienced enough. I decided to get French tip with dip powder, white tip is uneven on all nails, and when I brought up that my thumb is uneven and crooked the male nail tech mumbled "crazy" underneath his breath. It took him 30-35 minutes to complete my nails and is all uneven in length and shape. Still tip him good for a 30 minutes service. Went home and filed my nails to how I wanted and have to paid 55 for his crappy work. Two days in and some nails look like is about to come off near the cuticles. I really wanted to like this salon but I didn't have a great experience. First, I'll start with the positives. The space and tools are clean and the staff is nice. But my gel manicure was so horrid I had to go back to have it redone. The gel was uneven and it wasn't painted all the way down my nail bed. It looked like I'd tried to do it myself (bad). My pedicure was lovely except that the callous removing process left a cut on my heel and it now hurts to walk. They offered to redo my manicure so I went back in. It was much better the second time but the next day I already had a snag on my fingernail and now two days later, two nails are chipped. For the price, I'd expect my gel to last the full two weeks.
