I have been very satisfied with the services I've received from Brazil on the Hill over the past…read morethree years. The studio space is very welcoming, clean, and full of calming scents from the natural products also being sold there. I recently bought a mango butter cream that I LOVE. My Brazilian wax treatments are never as painful as I expect, I feel comfortable, and I always leave my session very satisfied with the outcome. I highly recommend Julie from Brazil on the Hill. She is awesome:)

Hello Earlier today,…read moreas a birthday gift to myself, I decided to pamper myself and get my first ever bikini wax. Brazil on the Hill received some pretty good reviews and it was close by, so I put my faith in them to rip out my hair. Getting an appointment was super easy, but when I got there, I was left waiting for around 10 minutes after my appointment time. I filled out the sheet saying specifically that I have sensitive skin. Once Katie came to take me to one of the back rooms, I explained to her that it was my first time ever getting waxed anywhere except my eyebrows. She told me we would do just a regular bikini at first instead of a full brazilian which sounded good to me. There was no consultation other than her telling me to keep my dress on and take off my panties and put them on the chair. Katie came back in and without letting me explain what I wanted, she started putting hot wax on my upper bikini line. And I commented, "ow, the wax is hot" and she didn't say anything about it. She proceeded to use a strip to rip my poor little hairs out. I've read a lot online on how you should always use hard wax on the bikini line, especially for sensitive skin, because it doesn't remove a layer of skin. There was no mention of what kind of wax used here on the website, waiver, or in person. The heat made me very uncomfortable and my skin is very irritated. When the first strip was pulled, I vocalized my pain, and Katie told me to be quiet because they "have other customers". In between strips, I tried to tell Katie what I wanted, and she told me that with my length of hair, what I wanted would look weird. I felt very uncomfortable by her saying that, because it seemed very judgmental, and people online say that esthetician should not be judgmental is because it is their job to look at people's private parts. I should not have felt embarrassed about my body when someone is doing something very personal for my body. The wax continued to feel very hot on my sensitive skin. Katie went back over places multiple times with more wax strips which is dangerous because it removes a layer of skin every time. Hard wax can be used over spots multiple times but not soft wax (which again, was not advertised). When she was done with the regular bikini, she asked me to sit up and look at what I have to see if I wanted to continue with a brazilian or an extended bikini. My skin was sticking to itself because it still had wax residue on it, which was painful on my red, bleeding, sensitive skin. When I said I was done, Katie (very aggressively) rubbed oil into my freshly waxed skin and I vocalized "that hurts" and she did not respond. Once she was done, she just walked out. No words on aftercare, or if I was even ready to go and put on my panties again on my bleeding, oily skin. I would have loved to hear about aftercare from a professional to avoid ingrown hairs because I'm susceptible to them, but I didn't get any assistance. For a first timer, it was not the best way to end an appointment. Luckily I did get the 50% discount for being a new customer, but even the $18 I spent was not worth all the pain and discomfort (both physically and emotionally) I went through for a gift for myself on my birthday. EDIT I got a call earlier today from Katie herself apologizing for the service I received and she offered a full refund. I still didn't get the service I wanted or expected, but I added a star for the attempt to fix it.

I've been going to Michelle since she was waxing for another location in downtown Denver and loved…read moreher from first pluck. She's got a gentle hand and a gentle heart! Her technique is so gentle and she's so pleasant to be with that it makes the whole experience much more tolerable. She's always so sensitive to my comfort throughout the session, checking in with me and letting me know what's done and what's coming up- I just really appreciate her for this reason. In fact, she's so gently that once I was even able to have her wax my bikini area even though I had a migraine (my choice! I was going on vacation and didn't want to take her up on her kind offer to reschedule without penalty.) She gave me special treatment to ensure I was comfortable, and sincerely I was. I've gone to far too many estheticians that just rip, rip rip, without ever checking in, leaving you red and sore afterwards. Michelle never forgets what she's doing to you and how painful it can be, and your comfort is her too priority. I was so excited to find out that she opened up her own business, and it even has free parking! I live between Boulder and Denver, so lucky for me her move didn't change my commute to see her. Michelle's new place is inside a very clean health facility, which makes sense to me- waxing is, after all, a bit of healthy self-care, so an environment focused on health makes more sense to me than one that tries to convince you you're at a luxurious spa (don't be fooled by those places! There is nothing pampering about having every body hair ripped from your body via scolding hot wax, and you know it, yet they charge you as if there is.... hmmm). Her room is privately tucked away in the back- a little tranquil sanctuary true to Michelle's laid-back style. Go check her out for any of your waxing needs- I am confident you will love her too!

I will continue making the 45min drive from Denver just to get waxed by her. SO WORTH IT! She has extensive specialized training in waxing, and it makes all the difference.
