Unprofessional. Bad communication. Catherine cancelled my appointment via text due to weather, offered to re-book me with another employee and assured me that my "appointments won't be cancelled, Melissa lives very close to the Phenix Salon Suites. She will definitely be there tomorrow! I'll go ahead and move your appointments to 10:45 am tomorrow with Melissa. I apologize for the inconvenience and I hope you have a wonderful trip!" A mere two hours before my appointment, Melissa texted me to also cancel my already-rescheduled appointment because she now lives over an hour away in Fort Collins. I understand that snow can impact a business but the employees that work here are clearly not on the same page to the detriment of their clients. Catherine assured me my appointment wouldn't be cancelled due to Melissa's close proximity to the salon. That was a lie. And then Melissa, knowing how far away she now lives from Boulder, waited until just 2 hours before my appointment to cancel on me. I don't see why, after this, I would avail myself to this business in the future. read more

Meaghan Clare was a delight and made this Brazilian wax the least painful one I have ever had. She was calm, slow, and very deliberate in removing the hair. To add to that, she was an excellent conversationalist and made me feel at ease. If I could give her 25 stars, I would. The small space in the Phenix Salons was very clean and all of the COVID-19 procedures were very clear (text when you arrive, wait outside, temp check, masks, cleaning between client, etc.) I felt safe. read more

So today I tried this place for the first time mostly because my normal place couldn't get me in. yelp had said it had good reviews and I had boudoir photos to take the next day and wanted a nice, tan line free bronze. Karen said she had availability to get me in and having done a few spray tans at other places I figured it would be much the same. I got there and karen was very polite and made the embarrassing parts easy. She recommended the Lava Tan and said she was going to go darker because of my natural skin tone. Totally was fine as long as I wasn't orange. She quickly did me up and I left not really thinking about it but when I got back to my office, man I was DARK. I started freaking out googling other reviews and the tanning spray she used while my intern kept laughing at me because I looked like Snooki. I tried finding pictures of people who'd used the same tanning solution while wondering if I was gonna keep looking like a burnt sweet potato for my pictures. Flash forward to post shower and I am sooooooo happy I ended up keeping the colour on the whole time. I am a beautiful, even, sunkissed brown and I couldn't be happier. I'd definitely go back and do it all over again and took this as a giant learning experience. Trust the tan lady. She knows what she's talking about. I love coming to waxed and bronzed for my Brazilian so much that I will drive two hours out of my way to come here. The staff are very pleasant and the wax is as quick and painless as possible. This place is so wonderful! I've been in twice so far and plan to keep coming back. Karen is a wax goddess who works swiftly and definitely knows what she's doing. I came in for a lip wax and it was the first time I didn't break out afterwards. We also did my arms in the same sitting and it was super gentle and brightened up my tattoos. I came back a few days later to get a spray tan before a weekend getaway and it was one of the best I've ever had! A lot of spray tans I've had in the past have a yucky fade that rubs off in weird areas and looks super unnatural after your first shower. Not this one! I'll be making this a regular stop to stay glowed up throughout the summer! read more

Brazil on the Hill received some pretty good reviews and it was close by, so I put my faith in them to rip out my hair. Getting an appointment was super easy, but when I got there, I was left waiting for around 10 minutes after my appointment time. I filled out the sheet saying specifically that I have sensitive skin. Once Katie came to take me to one of the back rooms, I explained to her that it was my first time ever getting waxed anywhere except my eyebrows. She told me we would do just a regular bikini at first instead of a full brazilian which sounded good to me. There was no consultation other than her telling me to keep my dress on and take off my panties and put them on the chair. Katie came back in and without letting me explain what I wanted, she started putting hot wax on my upper bikini line. And I commented, "ow, the wax is hot" and she didn't say anything about it. She proceeded to use a strip to rip my poor little hairs out. I've read a lot online on how you should always use hard wax on the bikini line, especially for sensitive skin, because it doesn't remove a layer of skin. There was no mention of what kind of wax used here on the website, waiver, or in person. The heat made me very uncomfortable and my skin is very irritated. When the first strip was pulled, I vocalized my pain, and Katie told me to be quiet because they "have other customers". In between strips, I tried to tell Katie what I wanted, and she told me that with my length of hair, what I wanted would look weird. I felt very uncomfortable by her saying that, because it seemed very judgmental, and people online say that esthetician should not be judgmental is because it is their job to look at people's private parts. I should not have felt embarrassed about my body when someone is doing something very personal for my body. The wax continued to feel very hot on my sensitive skin. Katie went back over places multiple times with more wax strips which is dangerous because it removes a layer of skin every time. Hard wax can be used over spots multiple times but not soft wax (which again, was not advertised). When she was done with the regular bikini, she asked me to sit up and look at what I have to see if I wanted to continue with a brazilian or an extended bikini. My skin was sticking to itself because it still had wax residue on it, which was painful on my red, bleeding, sensitive skin. When I said I was done, Katie (very aggressively) rubbed oil into my freshly waxed skin and I vocalized "that hurts" and she did not respond. Once she was done, she just walked out. No words on aftercare, or if I was even ready to go and put on my panties again on my bleeding, oily skin. I would have loved to hear about aftercare from a professional to avoid ingrown hairs because I'm susceptible to them, but I didn't get any assistance. For a first timer, it was not the best way to end an appointment. Luckily I did get the 50% discount for being a new customer, but even the $18 I spent was not worth all the pain and discomfort (both physically and emotionally) I went through for a gift for myself on my birthday. EDIT I got a call earlier today from Katie herself apologizing for the service I received and she offered a full refund. I still didn't get the service I wanted or expected, but I added a star for the attempt to fix it.

Star is easy and efficient to communicate with, her home based studio/salon is a pleasant environment, and most importantly, she is technically accurate when it comes to the spray tan. On one occasion I wanted a little bit of a darker color, and on the other occasion I just wanted a light application of color and a few specific areas. She did a great job on both applications. Her prices are reasonable and her services are great. Unfortunately, that's not an easy combination to find sometimes. The bonus is that I SWEAR I look thinner when I'm a little bit tan, even though I haven't lost a pound!

Later, I was contacted by someone who was "not" the district manager, but someone who would try to help me... this facility also has absolutely no sound barriers. There are no ceilings to each room which isn't a necessity however they are so short that you could literally hear paper rustling beyond the next wall. I am actually quitting Palm Beach Tan because of this particular facility as it will be the only one I can go to from this point on. Even if they worked out my membership issues that were in my opinion, a bit of a rip off, the facility itself really is very basic and you feel like you're undressing And doing your tanning, etc., in front of the world. It's a very loud facility they can hear you and you can hear them. Unfortunately, the woman that tried to help me was also trying to teach someone who was new and so that person was getting about as much education as the woman who was working the desk had which she said she doesn't normally work at that facility and did have to call a manager who also could not help me. Overall, I would say this site needs a lot of work if they would like to have a higher clientele of people and be able to justify the amount they tried to charge or up charge me... Then they might be able to do so, but as it is, as I said, I am quitting Palm Beach Tan after a visit to my Texas homebase Palm Beach tan , which is really awesome. My husband and I were both members at the highest platinum level and now we are quitting. And to be quite honest, there is nothing they could do to get me to return to this particular site.

But one stylist said she could take me, so I gave her a shot. Her name was Wendy, she was very friendly and had a great sense of humor. I think we both had a good time while she was doing her thing. I could tell she was very knowledgeable and knew what she was doing by techniques that I hadn't seen in years, such as using a straight razor on areas of my hair, etc. Before I knew it I was thinking to myself that this is gonna be a great cut, and it was. Most definitely one of the best cuts I have received in a long time. She explained why she did this & that to control my type of hair and gave me really good tips to take with me. I will be back for more of the same in the future. This is the first review I've wrote on Yelp, it's just something that I'm not into. But during our conversation I was telling her that although our businesses are totally different, they are similar as far as clients and word of mouth are considered. So when I was telling her what a great job she did and that I didn't want to forget to grab her card so that I could return one day, she politely mentioned that if I really liked my hair that she would appreciate a review. And now that I am almost done, I'm glad I took five minutes to say thanks and I hope it helps her with her business. It's not easy to be out there working for yourself, I know how hard it can be. I might be a little fragile on some days and need the assistance of a walker and/or wheelchair and they have stayed so over the phone. If they see my caller ID they do not answer the phone, if I turn it off or use my husband's phone to make an appointment, they call back and cancel mee appointment. At first, I wasn't sure why they kept doing this to mee and they confirmed, they do not want to do my nails, due to my disability. I purchased pedicure "Lavender upgrade" for extra $65, noticeably, running thru my quality time, barely placing, my feet into hot paraffin wax, not mere moment's pleasures and loosening up, part of extra(s) paid amenities. The owner felt, it's ok, skip some of actual amenities, like pushing back +cutting cuticles (should be been done earlier) prior to coloring nails, adequately entire coverage, lasting impression. Also, they can fully either push me +/or rid of me, quickly, skipping massage, so they can tend, to all person(s), continues to "walk-in(s) without any appointment(s). There's 2 reason(s), I make appointment(s), prefer not to waste day; and, my request(s) for certain nail tech, knows my preference(s). And, repeatedly, making requests "cuticles" blaze work of my nails; going to nail salon is like "treat" supposed to endure relaxation and for some respite. Last, my "cuticles" I've repeated, multiple times and throughout. Prior to payment, finally cut cuticles and it's strange, they didn't push them back, either. They clip cuticles in less than couple minutes and gets your CC and says, that'll be extra $10. second,I'm 2nd generation Asian American, my husband, also Asian and friendly candor and worst uses all of it, take advantage(s), due my ethnicity want to taken care of within time frame. Yes, I'm Asian, disabled and wear oxygen. However walk-ins without appointments, continues to come in and owner, accepts them, tells them to pick color, drops me, like hot potato. Then, she would ask another person unaware my preferences plus, she's unable to understand/speak English, why make an appointment? I should come in, as walk-in since they do not seem to turn people away.

Karen is amazing! Highly recommended. When I came in, the salon was super cute and very clean with pretty art on the wall. Karen was warm and professional and definitely put me at ease since I'm not the biggest fan of waxing. She continued to talk me through the process, was super gentle and really knowledgeable about the different kinds of waxes she chooses and why, how to manage ingrown hairs, what's the best way to keep things lasting longer, etc. Definitely impressive. And she had a variety of items to buy and sent me home with some in-grown hair prevention care, which I've so been needing. Super great experience overall!! I have no words for how amazing Karen is! Every single time I go in for a services she always makes me feel comfortable and assures me that it is all about me. The past couple of times I have gone to receive eyebrow waxing Karen had me grow out my eyebrows so that she could reshape them and give them a better look. This past Friday when I went in I never expected my eyebrows to look this amazing! Karen is my GIRL! I had previously gone to EWC where Karen started and left when she left because she was the best! She's so good at what she does, and is also amazing at giving advice and being a supportive friend! I love going to see Karen because my waxes are always perfect and she is just fun to be around. Karen is so skilled at brows, it's unreal. She's got major talent when it comes to her services, including spray tans! My roommate and I both swear by her. Let me tell ya, my best friend and I just moved to college up here and we were so nervous about finding a place to get good waxing and spray tans but this place is beyond amazing. After have a terrible first experience at a name brand salon we came here and it was the best experience ever. After a painful waxing experience years ago that left me with thin, scabbing eyebrows and little confidence, I vowed not to let anyone touch my brows again-until a friend recommend I see Karen at Waxed and Bronzed. I come to Waxed and Bronzed all the time for my waxing services! I usually see Melissa, but all the ladies here do a great job with everything. They did have to reschedule my appointment today, but the weather and roads were so bad that I wasn't surprised. Glad they stayed home and made the right decision for their safety. If you're looking for a great waxing service or spray tan....this is the place to go!!! Brazilians are painless and spray tans are beautiful and evenly done. I love it! Waxed + Bronzed is the best experience I have ever had with waxing (and that is coming from someone who was a EWC regular for almost 2 years). Karen is wonderful! She is a thorough as it gets. I have never had a Brazilian wax that lasts so long without hair growth. And when hair does grow back, it is minimal! She is also a wizard with brows! I have never trusted someone more with them. Prices are more than reasonable for the amazing service you receive! I won't go anywhere else! read more

I found this place while I was staying in Boulder. Now that I am living in Frederick, I make sure I continue to visit once a month with Megan Claire. Hands down, she is the best in the business! Meaghan Claire is an absolute gem of a human! This place is great! Karen made me feel comfortable from the start. Chatting during my bikini wax helped to distract me from the discomfort and it was over before I knew it. She's so fast! I came here for a bikini wax before vacation, and was very pleased with the experience. My waxer (Chantal) was very nice and professional, efficient without being awkward. The process was very quick, and I appreciate that they use hard wax that doesn't require strips to pull off. They also used natural products for cleansing before and after (witch hazel, sunflower oil, baby powder, aloe vera.) Prices are very reasonable as well. read more

Chantal my waxer is amazing. I have been going to her for a little over a year now. She is very educated on waxing techniques and after care to treat my ingrown hairs! She's works quickly but diligently. She has now started to my lash lifts as well and I'm more than pleased with the results that I get every time.
