I love going to Cynthia!! I've had many facials with other providers in the past and I felt like they didn't really listen to me when it came to my sensitive skin and/or they were pretty rough with extractions leaving me with marks for a week. I was worried about doing a peel as I'd heard mixed things about them and even had a friend who had a peel go very wrong. But Cynthia was so kind and reassuring, she truly listened to my concerns, and I loved the peel! We did a light one and my skin was just glowing afterward! So happy I found her. I also love that it's just her in a quiet secluded space and I always enjoy our conversations! read more

I just had an amazing first facial with Cynthia. She was kind, patient and knowledgeable. She uses only very clean and effective products and I never felt any shame about my clogged pores and rough skin. She has a very holistic approach to skincare and is knowledgeable about how diet and lifestyle affect the skin. Her office is conveniently located downtown and very quiet and peaceful. I'll definitely be going back. read more

I had my first facial with Cynthia! Wow what a fantastic experience. I choose the dermaplane and my face felt and looked great after! I brought some of Cynthia's products to start doing a facial routine and they feel amazing! It was such a relaxing experience. I trust Cynthia's products and feel good supporting a local women's business! Thank you Cynthia!! read more

My skin has never been as good since starting to see Cynthia for facials every few months and listening to her recommendations. I know walking into her space that I am going to have the most wonderful experience - I pretty much walk out on cloud 9, between the blissed out experience and knowing that my skin is going to look flawless. Prior to starting with Cynthia, I would have frequent hormonal acne break-outs that would take days to go away or leave ugly marks. After only a few visits, I finally feel good enough to go make-up free in public--she has made such a difference in reducing my hyper-pigmentation and I've never felt happier in my natural skin than I do now. read more

Cynthia's products and acne facial healed my hormonal breakouts in under a week. She is a saving grace. I had tried everything, from gut healing to prescriptions from the dermatologist. Her 3 step skincare routine is simple, to the point and most importantly effective. My skin hasn't been clear in over a year. Now I can finally leave the house free of makeup and confidant. Her kind energy and knowledge for skincare made me feel comfortable during my service. Thank you for saving my skin!! Seriously she's a magic maker read more

I can't say enough about Cynthia and the amazing work she does. I came to her 3 years ago with sensitive, dry, acne-prone skin that I had tried everything for. I tell her all the time that she is my "skin whisperer" because she has transformed my skin and, in turn, my confidence. In the past, I would switch between "reputable" brands until they stopped working, desperately trying to find my holy grail products. Since meeting Cynthia and being introduced to the products she uses and carries, I haven't changed my skincare in 3 YEARS! It is the only skincare that truly gets better the more you use it. Most of all, Cynthia is the kindest, most gentle, and most caring person. I truly look forward to my hour with her! The whole experience is warm, relaxing, and full of genuine compassion for you and your needs. Go see Cynthia. I will never go anywhere else! read more

I started seeing Cynthia when I became pregnant and could no longer use benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid products on my skin. With everything else on my body that was changing, I was hoping to make my skin at least one of the constants. Before my first appointment, Cynthia and I spoke on the phone about my skin concerns so that she could tailor the treatment for me. She was warm, friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable, which she has continued to be throughout every one of my treatments. I've had facials before, but Cynthia goes above and beyond to provide a spa experience. From the setup and mood in the treatment room, to the comfy robe provided, to the hand massage and warming mitts, what some estheticians might treat as a simple facial becomes a whole experience with Cynthia. My face absolutely glows after I go to see her, and my problematic skin isn't just more constant and manageable, it's significantly improved. I also struggle with hyper pigmentation, which has lessened significantly since I've started going to Cynthia. She's also recommended top quality products that don't even compare to the drugstore versions I was using that were, in all honesty, probably contributing to my skin issues. I have standing monthly appointments with Cynthia and look forward to every treatment. She's shown me what happy, healthy skin can look and feel like, and I know I'll continue seeing her post-pregnancy, too. read more

Cynthia is truly a miracle worker!!!! I started working with Cynthia four months before my wedding with problem skin and a terrible breakout. On my wedding day, my skin was practically flawless. I look forward to our appointments and always walk away feeling relaxed and positive. Her facials and peels and gentle, yet effective and the Sanitas products are super concentrated and feel so good on my skin. I don't even have to wear make-up anymore. If you need special occasion makeup, she does that too! She did the makeup application at my wedding for myself and my bridesmaids. We all looked gorgeous and the make-up was natural yet great in photos with staying power to last the afternoon sun and evening. I cannot say enough great things about Cynthia! Make an appointment, you will be hooked. read more

Cynthia is a dream come true! I have always struggled with acne, even into adulthood. I've been to so many dermatologists and have tried so many products. Cynthia was able to make SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS with my skin in a way no one or no product has been able to ever before. I love her holistic approach to skincare and I will be telling all my friends to see her! If you have any doubts about her services, just go meet her and see how her own skin glows! read more

It's no wonder Cynthia and Tru Skincare has 5 stars. I had a very enjoyable service with Cynthia this week and hope to make treatments with her a regular part of my skincare regimen. Cynthia is very professional and takes the time to speak with you about your skincare routine, problems you may have, and how she thinks they can best be tackled - I did not feel like I was getting a one sized fits all facial. Consistency is really important when choosing services like this so I appreciate she has a small business where only she does the service. Her space is clean and inviting, tucked away from the Pearl Street mall, in a very convenient location if you're looking to enjoy Boulder afterwards. I felt her pricing was reasonable especially considering you are supporting a local, independent business. I'm a fan! read more

*Update - Sept 2015: Cynthia did it again! She did the makeup for my twin sister's wedding, and we all had such a great time with her getting ready, and the makeup lasted the entire night and we all looked so pretty. Thank you, Cynthia!! Review from May 2011: Cynthia is wonderful, and so are her services! I definitely recommend the Derma-Sonic Lift facial! It was amazing! I got the facial three days before my wedding, and on the day of my wedding my skin was really smooth, beautiful, and flawless! I really love Sanitas products- they don't have any preservatives or additives, and they make my skin feel fresh. Cynthia also did my day-of wedding makeup (three days after my facial), and I loved it! The photos were fabulous, and so was my face throughout my entire wedding. I'm grateful that I was able to find Cynthia since my wedding was in Boulder, but I wish I found Cynthia when I was actually living in Boulder! When I come back to visit, I'm definitely going back to see her! read more

Absolutely amazing. As all others have mentioned, Cynthia is a miracle worker. She not only has really helped with some breakout and pigmentation issues, but she also helped me identify a small bump on my face that needed some extra attention & wound up having to be removed by an amazing specialist she referred me to. BUT, that (slightly major) bump issue aside, she has also done wonders for the rest of my skin overall. I first saw her a few months ago, to address the sporadic breakout/pigmentation issues I was experiencing. Instead of suggesting products for me to buy/use right off the bat, she said she wanted to see how my skin reacted first to assess what the next steps should be. So we started off with a light peel/acneic facial, and it did wonders. My skin was clear & glowing for the rest of the summer. I went back a few weeks ago to get a deeper peel since it was becoming Fall. She yet again did an amazing, professional job, and this time around we discussed a product treatment plan, and I have been using her tailor-made all natural product line and loving it. My skin looks & feels awesome, and I can't wait to keep going back to her for even better results each time! Not to mention she has touched base with me a few times since my last facial to see how my progress is going, and the added personal touch really goes a long way. If you are looking for a professional, personal, and outstanding facialist to develop a long-term relationship with to help with your skincare issues/needs - then Cynthia is without a doubt the person to go to. I'm so thrilled I've finally found my Boulder skincare guru! read more

Everyone needs a skincare professional that they can trust, and Cynthia Sass is not only that but SO much more! She's totally knowledgeable in natural and modern ways to take care of your skin, and she's so sweet and sincere as well, you're sure to make an instant friend during your appointment with her. Her services are top-notch and the atmosphere she creates is relaxing and nurturing. I loved her honesty and prices, and she gave me great advice (and high-quality products) to make healthy skin a daily achievment for me. I was totally unfamiliar with facials, and I learned so much from my very first visit. I went in initially for a special day with my mom, and ended up coming back for several sessions of her Pro-Peel for Acne. It was amazing! Check out her website, www.truskincareboulder.com to learn more about Cynthia (she's done makeup for celebrities!) and see what products and services she offers. Whether you're looking for a special treat for yourself or need some serious skin rehab, I bet she totally offers what you're looking for. :) read more

I am so glad to have found Cynthia! I treated myself to a facial after many years of not being able to afford one. Cynthia was so knowledgeable about skin concerns, especially in our dry, high-altitude environment. But most of all, she had a gentle and caring touch. I literally cried! I bought her personally formulated "perfection balm" and it is the best face cream I have ever tried. She provided me samples of her eye cream and face wash, which I will definitely pick up soon! read more

Cynthia is a true professional. She clearly puts a lot of care and attention into what she does, and is effective as well. I go to her for an acne facial and she's very thorough with the extractions while also working to make it a relaxing spa-like experience. Wow. Truly as good as it gets. Cynthia blew my mind from the first time we spoke on the phone. Her caring demeanor is first-class, not to mention the effectiveness of her service! I felt wonderful after our time together and she actually brought life to my skin again! I struggle with acne prone skin and the acneic peel did the trick to lightening hyper-pigmentation and easing current blemishes. She spent a fair chunk of time discussing acne triggers and encouraged me to keep fighting to gain answers to holistically heal from the inside out. She never pushed product and answered all of my questions with ease and concern. I highly recommend and look forward to seeing her again! read more

In the past, I gave skincare little to no thought, and I was shy of getting any kind of skincare treatment, as I was rarely satisfied with the results (if I experienced any at all.) This all changed when I met Cynthia. Her calming demeanor, realistic approach to skincare and her unmatched treatments have completely changed my outlook on skincare - not to mention my skin. Cynthia designed a no-fuss skincare regimen for me, and it's never looked better - bright, even tone, less blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles less pronounced. For those who are looking for sustainable, real-life skincare and amazing results, there is none better than Cynthia. read more

Cynthia is awesome. I had really bad acne, and at the age of 25 got really fed up of looking at it. A friend recommended I go see Cynthia. 4 months (1 visit per month) later and my skin is completely clear! Not only that, she's really fun to chat with, and the experience is really calming. I highly recommend Cynthia if you want to make your skin perfect, you want to get pampered or you just need to relax! read more

Cynthia did my makeup for my wedding and was AMAZING!!! I don't normally wear makeup, but she made me feel so comfortable and talked me through everything she was doing. She made me look stunning, but still like myself. It was a very natural beautiful look! I am so pleased I chose her! She was so warm and welcoming. She listened to what I wanted and was so kind! I can't get over how beautiful she made me look!! I highly recommend her for wedding makeup! read more

Cynthia has been nothing but helpful, kind, and highly effective at treating my skin. She follows a holistic approach to skincare and uses Sanitas products. Over these past four months of treatment, my breakouts have gone down substantially. Cynthia prescribed a simple, couple-step routine for my skin. She builds on what you are already doing and makes tweaks based on your visits. My skin always looks brighter and nicer when I leave. If you are looking for a facial expert, Cynthia is the one for you! read more

I found Cynthia Sass and Tru Skincare by reading positive reviews online, so I thought it was only fair to make sure I added to it! Cynthia did my wedding make-up and the make-up for 8 other women on my wedding day - ranging in age from 14 - 60. We had such a fabulous day and Cynthia added to all of us feeling our very best. When I first consulted with her, I knew I had met the right person - she has such a positive, calming essence about her that makes you feel comfortable, relaxed and happy. All of us felt so good after she was done. Each woman looked like the best version of themselves. She made all of us feel so good. It was great to see the closest women in my lives feeling relaxed and beautiful - it really made for a wonderful day (and awesome wedding pictures!). read more

I have had embarrassing adult acne for over a year now and have been everywhere trying to deal with it. I went and saw Cynthia YESTERDAY for a facial, and already my skin is already thanking me and looking better. She was so kind, helpful, and professional that it made the experience that much better! I got a "calming acneic" facial with a small peel. I left her studio and went back to work with barely any redness. I definitely recommend her and I, personally, will always be a client! read more

I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review as I have been Cynthia for almost two years straight. I go to her for eyelash tinting- a service I thought I'd never be able to get again as they outlawed it in MA where i grew up. I am as blonde as they get and without wearing mascara I feel like I look dead, but hate wearing make up. For $25 every month or so, Cynthia solves this problem. I go in and come out 25 minutes later with dark lashes that last me a month. Its over and over the best $25 I can spend. Her space is calming and she is the nicest most soothing woman in the world. I am so lucky to have found her. GO! read more

I just had my first facial from Cynthia at Tru Skincare. She provides excellent service and is a truly lovely person to spend time with. My skin is glowing. read more

It's not surprising that Cynthia Sass, owner of Tru Skincare is considered the best in Boulder. Her commitment to whole holistic health, her immaculate attention to detail combined with the rare ability to really listen to her clients, makes her truly one-of-a-kind. When I first moved to the area, I had many problems with my skin and felt unsure of what kind of help I needed. Cynthia took the time to understand my concerns, my history, and my goals towards healthy skin. She customized my treatment, and new products, to give me the best, most luminous skin of my life. She truly believes in a lifestyle approach and her methodology is easy to follow. And what a difference it's made!! I can not recommend her enough for anyone who's tried it all, and is now ready for the absolute best. The studio is clean, professional, and ideally located downtown. Seriously, give yourself the ultimate gift of gorgeous skin and book an appointment today! read more

Cynthia is nothing short of amazing!! I've ALWAYS struggled with acne, and now still battling it in my mid-30's. Living in New York, I had worked with a few different dermatologists and always had a lacking resolution - too many harsh products and too many prescription pills, some were so sever they would make me physically sick. I had roughed through a few years on my own, different products, watching my diet, etc. After moving to Colorado and having some life/hormone changes, I ended up with worse acne - specifically cystic. After a couple months of frustration and doing some research (staying away from any dermatologists) I came across Cynthia. It has been the best thing for my skin in my entire life. (That is not an exaggeration). The products she uses are really wonderful and make my skin feel clean and feels like beautiful skin again. Although I still have an occasional breakout and it can frustrating, the treatments I get absolutely tame them and I find that the breakout area clears up much faster. I've switched all my products to the Sanitas brand as well, and it's been a really great experience. I find myself very lucky that I found Cythia. read more

Cynthia is great! I was traveling for work with a hectic schedule and an event the next day in another city, and naturally had an awful pimple situation. Wonderful facial and gentle peel. Truly a pleasure meeting Cynthia. Not only did she discuss how I was treating my skin from the inside out, she offered dietary suggestions as well as excellent advise on how to be and live healthier. The Sanitas line of products is very good and the esthetician applies a very soft touch.

Cynthia is incredible! I went to her for a couple facials to get my skin in order before my wedding. She is incredibly gentle and my skin looked amazing afterwards. Impressed, I asked that she do my wedding make-up, as well as my bridesmaids', and was totally blown away. I opted to go for a strong lip, which I never do, and I'm glad I did. My make-up looked fantastic and so did my pictures. I absolutely trust her to help me look my best. Cynthia rocks! read more

I agree, Cynthia is a skin miracle worker. I have been her client for about a year and when I follow my skin care plan along with drinking the powerful smoothie my skin glows. People even started complimenting my skin. Cynthia incorporates health and nutrition into her plan which is huge. I look forward to my appointments. Cynthia is always professional, warm and caring. I leave Tru Skincare feeling calm, happy and positive. read more

Went for a lash tinting - and ended up with black eyes. The upper lashes were partially tinted, the lower lashes not at all. What WAS tinted was the peach fuzz below my eyes on my cheekbones! Someone dyeing lashes should put adequate protection on the surrounding skin to prevent staining. I can't believe Cynthia smeared the tint well below my eyelashes and onto my face. The lighting and available mirrors in the salon are so poor that you can't see what she did until you get home. I did notice that my upper cheeks were smudged/bruised looking in the salon, but Cynthia told me it was just the skin, and would fade in a few days. That would have been bad enough. When I got home, I noticed that it was all the peach fuzz hair below my eyes that was tinted. I would have had to wait a month or more for the hairs to fade. I ended up shaving! and plucking the one inch wide area that she had dyed black. Never again! read more

i love cynthia! she's awesome. she knows her stuff and is totally no fuss. so many skin care places are either over the top or so pretentious they make you feel inadequate for not getting facials every week. not cynthia - she's just really cool and knowledgeable about skin care. she also does not shove products at you, which is great. facials are a treat for me and it is nice to know i can go to her and just relax. i recommend any service she offers. I've just gone in for facials and a brow wax but certainly trust that any treatment would be worthwhile. read more

Cynthia is unbelievable!!!!!! She was so caring, thoughtful and kind. I went every two weeks for a facial when I lived in Boulder and my skin looks amazing. I wish she would move to the east coast ! She never, ever pushed product on me and when I asked her about products, she was very intelligable in regards to how the products work and what to use when. I had a million questions and she answered them with true concern for my skin health. She was also very caring on a personal level. This is five star service and ANYONE in Boulder (whether your male or female, a resident or just visiting) should experience TruSkincare at least once. Cynthia is an angel and she has changed my outlook on skincare for the better !!!!! She also knows how to extract without scarring and with minimal pain. What a relaxing environment !!!! This is truly the number 1 place in colorado for skincare (or dare I say number 1 place in the west !!!!!) and the number 1 place Im going to miss now that Im back east ! read more

For me, the test of a good facial is to see how my skin looks and feels several days AFTER a facial. I must say, I am beyond impressed with Cynthia at Tru Skincare and the facial I received recently. The Tru Skincare studio is nestled into a quiet little nook off of Boulder's bustling Pearl Street, and esthetician Cynthia Sass makes her tiny studio work beautifully as a private sanctuary. I received the Derma Sonic Lift peel and facial and I was thoroughly gushing with gratitude afterward based on hoe my skin look and felt. First of all, Cynthia's technique is soothing, calming and gentle. I was very curious about the "sonic" part of the facial, which apparently treats skin's elasticity via ultrasound. I am hooked! Afterward, my skin felt smoother, looked clearer & brighter, and for several days afterward, the glow continued. I am definitely going to continue with this treatment on a regular basis for consistent results. thank you, Cynthia! read more
