Went here for the first time yesterday, and the first time I left my hair was 6 or 7 inches shorter…read moreeven when I asked for only three inches off. Keep in mind my hair was pretty long before this and I asked to keep it long. I even showed my stylist what I thought three inches looked like on my hair. As for color, I asked to become a more summery brunette with some caramel highlights, lowlights, and subtle money pieces. I showed multiple inspiration pictures of my own hair that I had previously had done, and all I needed was to basically fix my roots and add more dimension. I expressly told her that I did not want to be blonde in the slightest. I don't know how I could have been clearer with what I wanted, but the first time I left, I was basically an ashy blonde with bright, almost white money pieces. Basically she did whatever she wanted to and did not listen to a single one of my wishes. I went back to get it fixed, aka to just get the bright blonde pieces toned down to a more golden and warmer color, and left a dark brunette with hair shorter than I have ever had in my life. The stylist kept telling me that she did not think I needed to get anything fixed and that everyone thought what she had done was beautiful. She seemed reluctant to fix it in the way I asked, and I had to reiterate multiple times that I previously told her I never wanted to be blonde and that is what she had done. The stylist did do the fixing for free, but the original service was $300. I would expect better results for the price point especially after still being unhappy with the end result. I usually never leave poor reviews but I have also never been in this much shock and genuine despair after a hair appointment. Safe to say I never want to come back!

The photos I showed the stylist are of natural-looking neutral/ashy brown hair but I ended up with streaky silver highlights that look totally unnatural. There were also a couple orangey unblended pieces. This was my first color at Kantor and it is also the first time I've been unhappy with my balayage results. I've always gotten ashy/neutral browns at other salons, so I don't understand why this took twice as long (5 hours) and why I ended up with super light highlights when the prompt was brown. When it was clear there were issues, there was no time to fix it. I had also scheduled a haircut that somehow wasn't entered into the system, and there was no time for that either (although the price I paid included the cut). The stylist offered to fix it two days later and I initially accepted, but cancelled after feeling anxious about entrusting the same person who created the problem with fixing the problem. When I called to cancel and told the receptionist I was unhappy with my color that I was too anxious to go back she said "alrighty then, have a nice day" and that was that. Would have been nice to get the cut I never got refunded, but that at least affirmed my decision to go with my gut and never go back. I am so annoyed that I wasted so much money at Kantor on a color I hated and a cut I never got, but I have learned a valuable lesson. I will never again get my hair done without a prior consultation to make sure we are on the same page, and I will thoroughly research the stylist and salon before putting my hair and money in their hands.

I've gotten a massage here two different times, with two different people, and they were hands-down…read morethe two best massages I have EVER received. They were both 1-hour massages. My first one was with Roxanna, and my most recent one was with Joan. I think I will talk more about Joan because it's fresher in my memory, but I also remember loving Roxanna's massage too! Joan started by applying firm finger pressure on my spine, neck, and shoulders, she said that she was trying to see where I was tight / problem areas. It felt really good! Then she went through the usual full-body massage, and I could tell that she was very experienced and skillful. Everything felt soooo nice, my nerves/muscles even tingled a couple times :) I love that feeling... I also told her before the massage that I would like her to focus on my legs because I'm most active there, and I really liked her technique of raising and bending my legs in order to get a better massage into them, loosen them up, or whatever the massage-terminology might be :) I love the addition of the aromatherapy oils (I always choose the peppermint, it just smells so invigorating and refreshing, and is apparently good for sore muscles). I also love the hot towels that they place on your feet when massaging your legs. The salon/spa itself is nice because it's tucked away from the bustle of Pearl Street, in a quiet side road near the canyon. Going there always feels like a special little private retreat :) The spa rooms are softly lit, warm, and there are heated massage tables so it's just such a relaxing, quiet experience. They are also quite separate from the salon area which is nice. I will definitely be back!

I have loose curls and before my haircut today it was super long and just hanging there - blah. I went to Stephanie not sure what I wanted - I just knew I needed a change and something a little more grown-up looking. I also told her I wanted something easy and that would look good with little to no product. Stephanie was super helpful with suggestions and convinced me to try a shorter and more modern look. Then she dry cut my hair -- something I've never had done before! So far so good! Followed that up with full shampoo and conditioner wash (smelled fantastic!) and then she diffused my hair to show me how it would look when it dries naturally. I love the results! While it's a bit shorter than I thought I wanted, I am so glad she talked me into it! I can still pull it into a ponytail and the texture is SO MUCH BETTER than past haircuts I've had since she thinned it a bit as she cut it - another technique I've never had used on my hair before. I love it. This is better than I was hoping for and I'm so glad to have a lot less hair as the summer heats up. If you have curly hair, you've got to go see Stephanie! On top of the fabulous haircut and enjoyable conversation, Stephanie's salon is so pretty - light and airy and natural. I was reminded many times that I had a lot of hair, and the whole process just seemed to be too much for her. They are not offering blow drys right now bc of Covid so I saw it once I got home.. they did offer to fix any problems within a week but I won't be going back.
