She is an expert in her field, is a lifelong learner in terms of continuing education, and is also one of the loveliest humans I've ever met. Was told my child's haircut would get reduced in price after it was done. So, I booked a $120 haircut under that assumption, as I was told to do. This was one of the worst salon experiences I've ever had and I would strongly encourage anyone considering extensions to avoid Alli. To start, I had to chase her down every step of the way--just to get a quote, instructions to pay, confirmation the order was placed, and help when things started going wrong. The install was sloppy and careless. Two tape-ins were placed on a thinning area and started painfully pulling out my hair. Beads from my weft fell out within days. When Alli wasn't available to fix one of the pulling tape ins, I had to go to another stylist at Twig to prevent further damage. When Alli found out, she gave me a hard time for seeing someone else--despite being unavailable herself. At that point, I canceled my next appointment and asked to pick up the hair I had purchased. When I finally received it, two pieces were missing--and after looking up the product online, I realized she had ordered the wrong color. When I brought this up, she deflected blame and misrepresented the truth rather than taking responsibility. After a long back and forth, and with help from the Director of Operations, Twig eventually returned the hair and refunded me for that. However, another stylist later confirmed that there was a whole other list of problems with the install: the wrong bead size was used, the tape-ins had no backing, the placement was poor, and the weft was badly sewn and not blended. The lack of transparency, professionalism, accountability, and care was shocking. I strongly urge anyone considering extensions with Alli to go elsewhere. read more

A dishonest and misleading place with hidden charges. The receptionist was not straightforward in telling me how much per cut and said it was $79. As it turned out, that was the hourly rate. Emily is fantastic! She is an experienced stylist but new at Twig so I was able to book her last minute because my hair was a dry, snarled mess that no amount of conditioning could touch. Emily was so thoughtful and knowledgable about how to restore my hairs moisture and she spent a lot of time combing it through with conditioner. Then she gave me one of the best cuts I've ever had. Carlee is the absolute best stylist and colorist I've seen. I've been going to her for years and love her work so much that most of the time anymore I just tell her what length I want and maybe a couple words to describe the vibe and then let her take it from there. I have very thick and wavy hair that Carlee always turns into something cool, and then when I wanted to color it all purple? Buddy you know she made that dream come true. And furthermore, Carlee has kept my hair healthy through all the bleaching and coloring of maintaining the purple for nearly two years, and now as I transition back to my natural color. Last week, I had an appointment for hair color and a cut, my fourth appointment with one of the stylists at Twig. I let her know that I wanted to transition to my natural color after having had a dark color for a while. I ended up with three distinct bands of color in my hair, and as my hair grows out, I will have four. At the last minute, the stylist proposed a "Blondie bob" and I agreed. So she cut off three or more inches of hair. The haircut is a hack job. See below. It's completely lopsided, with random chunks out of it. I guess the stylist was in a hurry. When I called the manager to complain, I got gaslighted. "I thought you liked it!" No, I was just not seeing the extent of how screwed up my hair is. And, "the stylist didn't have time to do what you wanted." Basically, well, you asked for it. My hair color has three distinct bands of color. And as my roots grow out, there will be four. As a solution, the manager suggested I "use a clarifying shampoo." And to just deal with it. Bottom line is, I paid $450 for this. read more

I had been seeing a stylist regularly at Twig for over one year, spending an average of $275 per appointment. My last 3 appointments were cancelled at the last minute by the stylist, each time for a different reason. I am sympathetic to emergencies and sickness, but when the third appointment was cancelled due to "car trouble" I hesitated to reschedule again. I asked to speak with the management the same day; 4 more days passed and I reached out again. The manager, Megan Y., finally emailed to give her "sincerest apology" about the consecutive cancelled appoints, to tell me that my stylist had a family issue come up (why did the front desk give me a different reason?), and rather than make an overture to compensate for the recurring inconvenience she suggested that I go to other salons in the area. Very unimpressive customer service to a loyal patron is disastrous for your business reputation, Megan Y. and Twig! I ended up finding a mature, reliable stylist and colorist at a salon for 50% of the cost of Twig. What a stroke of good luck! Now I don't have to navigate a pretentious salon with poor management skills and overpriced hair services. What a win! read more

this review is for Maria and the Twig experience as a whole! I transitioned from platinum blonde to a color melt to help my natural color grow out nicely and stop bleaching my hair. Maria did an amazing job! the color transition is really artistically done- it's beautiful, is a gentle seamless transition from my dark brown hair to my blonde (which lets me enjoy my blonde a little longer!), and is especially impressive because I was kind of vague with what I wanted :) this was my first time in Twig, and it's a really great salon. clean, friendly staff, and by far the most comfortable sinks (truly. your neck will thank you) I've ever experienced in a hair salon. Michael Harmon is a superb hairstylist! I came in for a big chop and my first balayage. I am delighted with my shoulder-length bob and such a beautiful, natural-looking, lived-in color! A few months ago, I was brand new to Boulder from the East Coast, and my first attempt at finding a new stylist resulted in an disastrous haircut that left me devastated. Someone on Reddit recommended Lily at Twig, so I booked an appointment for the following week. I thought I'd have to go super short to undo the choppy mess left by the previous stylist (different salon), but Lily listened and worked with me. I was so relieved that she was able to preserve some of the length and leave my hair looking as good as possible while I grow it back out. I've gone back to Lily for cuts and color since then, and I've been happy with her work every single time. Making an appointment is super quick and easy online, the staff is always pleasant, the salon is clean and spacious, but most importantly, I've only seen clients leave Twig happy with their hair. I got a perm from Carlee almost a year ago and it lasted the whole year and just kept getting better with time! Just did another one and I'm obsessed. Did not expect my hair to get healthier with this perm, but I've put less heat on it and just been able to let it do its thing and it grew 4/5 inches in this past year! She uses curl culture, which is ammonia free and thioglycolate free, making it one of the healthiest perms you can do (smells much better than a traditional perm as well). From mop to fun and flirty! Cielle is Ah-Mazing! I haven't done a thing with my hair since 10/19, except for some neurotic trimming during the pandemic. She took my tired, lank head of hair and turned it into the most fun and happy style I've ever had. The after picture is a little compromised by the mask, but you see all those curls and body? I've never had a worse experience at a hair salon before this. I had to go back and get my hair fixed after stylist messed up, and it's still not right. I don't want to list her name because she was really kind about the whole situation I just don't think she knew what she was doing . I made sure I specifically said I wanted a shadow root so the grow out wasn't noticeable and for her to blend it. She could just not get it right. It's about 1.5 months after my appointment and I've never seen a worse grow out. If I wanted an all over color with choppy grow out I would have said so. I specifically asked for partial highlight/balayage with root shadow so this wouldn't happen. I would like a full refund because of this, but I cannot call to ask now as I'm out of the country. I've had multiple people including my family point out how bad it looks. Absolutely horrible. read more

Reconsider if you're a parent. Kids bring home all kinds of stuff from school and you can't predict when you're gonna be violently ill 24 hours in advance. The cancellation policy is unforgiving and they will charge you hundreds of dollars because you couldn't go to the salon without vomiting for the length of a cut/color. It is understandable to charge a percentage, but 100% is savage. Parents, find a salon with a more understanding cancellation policy. read more

They cancelled two separate appointments. The first time they cancelled it was the morning-of the appointment. The second time they gave me a week notice but said they couldn't reschedule until later in the month, which defeated the purpose of the appointment which was to color and cut my hair for an event. They did not offer any compensation (ex: a discount for a future service) either time. read more
