It saddens me to write this review, as I previously wrote a positive review about Sierra when she gave me a haircut. I even bought one of the overpriced Kerastase products directly from the salon, so she could earn commission of the sale. I really enjoyed her as a person, especially since we talked nonstop for hours as she was doing my hair. We really bonded and lifted each other up. I liked the vibe of the salon too. I thought I finally found the place and the stylist to continuously return to for the next couple of years. I book an extended partial with blonde highlights, black lowlights, and with a dusky plum maroon coverage (#754257 cc). It was supposed to be thin streaks so that my curls could coil into one color. When I went in for the consult, I respected Sierra as a stylist. I asked for her professional opinion to elevate it and make it sustainable for a college student like me. She suggested we go with a high contrast color. I go home to think about it, and then return the next day. I figured the color would be similar to the reference picture I showed, just with a little more saturation to make it brighter. I was never shown a dyed hair sample, photo, or test strand of the color Sierra chose. I never got to see the final product in the salon, since I had to leave with my hair wet. To be transparent in this review, I payed 235$ including tip. I was ecstatic to see how it would look when it dried. Unfortunately, it just didn't turn out like how I would have expected it. I tried styling it with my natural curls, blown out, and tied up. It was just too vibrant (#ec5b67 cc), a different shade, and overall, just not the color I had in mind. It was also just too chunky of strands, and not as much blonde as I requested. I built up the courage to go back in for a redo service consultation. I was hesitant, as I did not want to come off as a Karen. We talked about possible options. I opt to just stick with the chunky stripes, and just request more in the back of my head to make it more cohesive. I am told to book the last slot in Sierra's schedule to alot for time to change the pink, free of charge. The salon has a "NO REFUND POLICY", which "guarantee's a complementary correction service". Sierra emphasizes that she can't add additional services/sections for free since I did not originally pay for it, which I understand and agree with. I go in the next day, where I ask for the salon on-site manager, but I settle for the Head Color Specialist (even though the policy online states it should be discussed with the onsite manager). We clarify what sections of my hair are included in the Extended Patial, and we clear out a game plan to proceed. TBH they clowned me for how I wore my hair and said "EW you shouldn't bring ur hair to the front of your face anyways". Whatever, I shrug it off bc I just want my hair fixed, until I bring up the color of purple/red/pink. This is ultimately the reason I am writing this review. I decided I wanted the original dusky plum maroon (#754257 cc) or at least mute/darken the color already on my head. Sierra 360s and tell me that we can do that, I would just have to pay for it as an additional service. I am shocked! I figured that "correcting" the color, which I was told in the second consultation and found on the website's policy, should be included in the "correctional service"? She stays firm with the fact that it would cost extra to change the color she put in my hair in the og service. I don't argue with her because I still obviously want the other adjustments I am entitled to. I paid for the og hair coloring service, and even paid an additional fee for extra product. I just don't understand how the 1/3 of the color doesn't fall into the definition of the correctional service? I had no way of knowing that the dye that Sierra chose would result in that shade. Her definition of "higher contrast" was different than what I had in mind, so she refused to accommodate my request. I find it ridiculous that I would have to pay for what I originally consulted for. It feels as if I am being punished for respecting, trusting, and relying in my stylists' skills, education, and professionality. Worst part is... I really fw the salon and the stylist until I had to endure this shameful display of customer service. I was trying my best as a defenseless 19 yr old girl to advocate for myself in the most respectful way possible. Up until she refused service, I planned on still going to her because of our connection. I didn't even request for another stylist to do it because of my faith in Sierra. I believed in her to ultimately create a final product I thought we would both be proud of. Last bit, she offered to dry my hair at the end of the 2nd appointment, just to wrap up our session and leaving with half my hair wet still wet... read more

I have been seeing the same hair stylist for 10+ years in my home town, so trying a new place was scary! The salon itself is cute with warm/friendly vibes. The online booking system was straightforward, but I'd recommend calling if you want to add something specific to your service that you aren't seeing online. So I've been thinking about this review for awhile and want to start with the pros. The Parlour is a lovely salon with an excellent vibe and I was greeted promptly and professionally. My stylist Elly has a warm and genuine personality, and we had a nice conversation. I got a very skilled haircut with Elly with expertly executed shaping and layering. I would give the haircut 5 stars. The cons are enough to deduct 2 stars from my review. The sales pitch started during the shampoo with questions about the products that I use (Redken, Chi and Biosilk) and then several disparaging remarks about them. I was then subjected to a never-ending infomercial about the products she used (2-3 products during the shampoo and then another 3 products during the cut and blow out). I was very uncomfortable and felt pressured and asked about the cost of a couple of them to appease her. Elly responded $30 and $40 for 2 of them, and I said that I would take the $30 Brazilian blowout spray. When I was checking out, the receptionist announced my total of $167. I was taken aback and asked how much the haircut was -- it was $80, which meant that the spray was $87 (I'm guessing that the $30 quotes price was for a smaller size??). First of all, the website said that a ladies haircut starts at $45, and while I did expect the haircut to cost more than that, I was not expecting almost double. I was too flustered to do anything other than hand over my credit card and a $20 cash tip to Elly. I am new to town and regret that I will have to restart my search for a new hair salon, because even though I received an excellent haircut, it's not worth the bait and switch and barrage of sales tactics. read more

I first went to the Fort Collins Parlour about two years ago. Having Asian hair (thick, wavy, and often dry) can be tricky and challenging. It was difficult for me to find a place in Boulder. I used to trek all the way to Aurora in fear someone would screw my hair up. But, all that anxiety is now gone. I enjoy every visit to the Parlour. Every stylist is wonderful, nice, and so insightful to taking care of your hair. I appreciate the wonderful work Rachel just did. In addition, I really appreciated her knowledge and shed light owards maintaining healthy hair. I had no clue how to keep my hair sleek and smooth after a shower. She's so helpful. They also allow you to do pre-booking, like the dentist, but less painful. My ignorance all these years, I just didn't realize there was the option of pre-booking a hair appt. LOVE IT. read more

I received the best haircut of my life here from Celia. The Superbowl had just happened, and I said "I want hair like Tom Brady's wife", and she said "We can do that." She then told me to trust her as she worked. Well, I'm glad I did because my hair looks amazing!! Before this haircut, my hair was so heavy it was weighed down and nearly flat. She cut in beautiful layers, thinned my hair, and now all of a sudden I have beautiful natural waves and curls. She also gave me tips on how to easily style it at home (without doing any work). I had been going to a much pricier salon for almost 2 years when I finally had enough of being butchered and gave The Parlour a try. I've had two cuts and one highlight session all from Alex (girl) and am absolutely stunned at her ability to LISTEN to what I want and work with my hair and face-shape. The cut is so great that I can literally wash and let air dry if I am in a rush. And my fine, limp hair still manages to look great with a little tossle. Alex is also good at showing me easy ways to style it, since she understands my request for low maintenance. She spent 10 minutes consulting with me to make sure we had the right color picked out and that I was realistic about what the results would be. I've been going to Chelsea for about six months. I live in Denver and trust me this place is worth the drive! I'm a "Texas" blonde and have been getting highlights for 13 years. I've had a hard time finding someone in Colorado to give me the color I want and to do such a thorough job! My foils are always right at my scalp too, which means lasting coverage. Never have I left with that queasy feeling that the stylist didn't listen or rushed and I'm going to have to go somewhere else to fix their mistake! Atmosphere is definitely trendy but not too hipster that I feel out of place coming in in yoga pants and a tshirt. (I'm a nurse that works nights). She's efficient, very skilled, knowledgeable, professional, and will help you make the right decision (and not make decisions for you). She has a good sense of what you might be comfortable with, if you're trying something new, and the more you see her, the more she can recommend styles that you might like. After paying 160$ for brassy, blonde highlights with 1/4 inch of root show at Voodoo, (I went back to have them fix it and they made me feel bad!) my friend suggested Shannon at The Parlour. She transformed my hair and now, 3 years later, she colors all of my friends' hair! She even does the hair for the guys of Big Gigantic. Shannon is laid back, funny, and so talented. Haircut with Sean at the Parlour was a great experience. For me to spend $70 (with tip) on a cut is a rare treat. I am a single mom. Sometimes these higher (than normal) haircut experiences have been lessons in humility as I'm lectured to about spending more money on my coloring (I do it myself) and cuts (I have to wait longer than normal between cuts because of cost). However, Sean at The Parlour is the consummate professional while at the same time being down to earth and non-judgemental. He gave me some great tips today, most of which involve technique v. spending more money. He is very skilled and gave me a great cut for my hair type. He also listened to what I was looking for. I've been going to The Parlour for almost twenty years.... well, when I'm in Boulder, which isn't constant. I've lived in NY, London, Milan and various other glamorous cities, and I will vouch for The Parlour's services being on that par -- but without that sort of cost. Yes, they're not cheap, but "you get what you pay for". I've had great experiences at their Estes Park salon and also Flatirons Mall. However, downtown Boulder is my usual, and of course it makes it fun being downtown as well. Since I've been coloring my hair since prehistory, practically, I try to have salons use ammonia-free color now. They do a great job with that at The Parlour too. The owner Gene (sp?) is a super guy too, BTW. Treats customers like stars, and old clients (like me) especially. read more
