Seems pretty ridiculous Went to the salon once in December for an overpriced and very poor work with Keratin treatment. NOT WORTH IT. Then went back for a bang trim because I liked the haircut, the staff was nice, hairdressers were nice and skilled. Products and Values are deficient, very disappointed by greed. The first photo is what I wanted and the others are what I got. I asked for a mushroom brown balayage, key word BROWN. The photos I showed the stylist are of natural-looking neutral/ashy brown hair but I ended up with streaky silver highlights that look totally unnatural. There were also a couple orangey unblended pieces. This was my first color at Kantor and it is also the first time I've been unhappy with my balayage results. I've always gotten ashy/neutral browns at other salons, so I don't understand why this took twice as long (5 hours) and why I ended up with super light highlights when the prompt was brown. When it was clear there were issues, there was no time to fix it. I had also scheduled a haircut that somehow wasn't entered into the system, and there was no time for that either (although the price I paid included the cut). The stylist offered to fix it two days later and I initially accepted, but cancelled after feeling anxious about entrusting the same person who created the problem with fixing the problem. When I called to cancel and told the receptionist I was unhappy with my color that I was too anxious to go back she said "alrighty then, have a nice day" and that was that. Would have been nice to get the cut I never got refunded, but that at least affirmed my decision to go with my gut and never go back. I am so annoyed that I wasted so much money at Kantor on a color I hated and a cut I never got, but I have learned a valuable lesson. I will never again get my hair done without a prior consultation to make sure we are on the same page, and I will thoroughly research the stylist and salon before putting my hair and money in their hands. read more

BEWARE As a small business owner, I hate to write this review because I am sympathetic to the challenges of operating a business. However, people need to know that Kantor & Co. is doing very bad business.   After getting a great cut from Eileen Kantor at Kantor & Company, I turned to her to salvage a California-sun-and-surf-blond color gone horribly wrong. Good quality color is essential for my online body care health and wellness business, which requires I be camera ready, so I was desperate to fix the monochromatic dust flour mess I had received at another salon. Eileen Kantor presented Tyler Boleyn to me as a genius color specialist. The 6-1/2-hour, $600-dollar fix was not actually a fix. It certainly wasn't the Julia Roberts-blond I'd provided as guidance (see photo). Disappointed and much poorer, I took their suggestion that I wait a few months to fix it in order to avoid overly-processing my hair. I waited 4 months and returned last week for a back-to-back color with Tyler and cut with Eileen- even after Kantor rescheduled me 4 times!, I was ready to do the final fix I had waited patiently for. I was surprised to find out last minute that my color was not, in fact, with Tyler (who was inexplicably unable to do my hair) but rather with Kelly, a new stylist who Eileen assured me was a master colorist with over twenty years of experience. Being an open minded customer because of owning my own business, I decided to trust Eileen. A big mistake. I show up at 7am (a God awful time for a mother of two young children) to meet Kelly and show her my Julia Roberts aspiration photo - the same I showed Tyler, and begged for help. The state of her own hair should probably have tipped me off, but Eileen reassured me, Kelly was exceptional even affirming me during the four hour process!!!!! (Eileen ended up having to cancel my haircut that was supposed to follow- even though I had waited 2 months and was rescheduled many times for this service also). The Result.... No exaggeration, I looked like Elvira (see photos). When I asked to see Eileen, she suggested that maybe there were mixed messages about what I wanted. Really?!?!? The same Julia Roberts photo showed to all of her stylists? Elvira vs Julia Roberts- come on. Not only is it terrible form to cast the customer in the wrong, it is especially wrong when the customer has paid tons of money to your company and remained loyal despite failed services- giving second and third chances for you to perform and make things right. Even though Eileen was more sympathetic and accommodating in a private conversation before I left (she offered to do my missed cut and find a fix for the horrendous color, booking me early the next day), two hours later I received an email that read: "This email is to let you know that after some consideration and meeting with the team, I feel that we are not a good fit for you. We wish you luck on your hair journey. We have canceled your haircut appointment tomorrow."  I was shocked! This experience calls into question not only the ability and talent of Eileen but also the integrity/ability of each stylist on her "team"- they do all work closely together and consult on each others work. Why didn't one single stylist on the "team" think "Dear god we can't let her leave looking like that?". The "team" all thought it was my problem? I was the one who was not a good fit for their salon?! I was confused? As a business owner, how could Eileen let me walk out of her Salon with hair that obviously, and not at all subjectively, looked this bad? Did she have no conscience about how her salon and reputation would be reflected? Did she even care? Kantor & Co butchered my hair, accused me of being a poor communicator and unable to discern good hair from bad, and then dumped me. Bad service, bad form, bad business. Fortunately, I found an incredible salon in Denver, Hazel and Harley's, with Brittany- a true genius colorist, who worked magic, reversing the damage of two bad colors (Kantor being by far the worst) in 1 session and got me back to filming the next day. BEWARE- only go to this salon if you're looking to spend exorbitant amounts of money for untalented stylists & unprofessional salon services or if you just want a Halloween costume! read more

I have difficult hair and she is the first person I found who really understands how to work with and listen to my complaints as well as desires. She has an amazing collection of really high-end scissors and hairstyling tools. In addition, she spends time learning new techniques, and always upgrading her hair cutting and styling game. Yikes! Went for a blowout while in town for a wedding and they somehow managed to dye my mother in laws hair pink! When brought to the stylists attention she alluded that her hair was already like that (it wasn't), then when we got to the checkout counter the man's arms were stained magenta. They said it was permanent dye that would wash out and had very little care or concern. How does this even happen with a blowout??? Nevertheless, it did not wash out and I give them 0/5 stars. read more

Absolutely phenomenal cut and blond coloring from Eileen! I have "difficult" hair that is unusually slow to process and has been really messed up by other stylists a few times. Eileen took such care to understand exactly how my hair has behaved in the past, what I wanted in terms of color and style, and then to create a really perfect, bright, natural blond. I chose this salon because it came so highly recommended in the Boulder Collective. I had my first haircut with Eileen Kantor. She is fabulous as a stylist! I immediately recommended her to one of my friends. She recently opened her own school as well. This is where her strengths lie. A couple of weeks after my appointment, I received a strange email from the salon noting that Eileen didn't think she was creative enough to work with me and was concerned about being able to style my hair the way I wanted. She said she would recommend me to one of her other stylists, a mid-level stylist named Tyler or I could find another salon. I found this odd and said I thought she was great and didn't care about the styling. I asked to speak with Eileen but she would never speak to me over the phone - only through the salon's email. I agreed to try Tyler. (He is a level 5 and Eileen is a master stylist - equivalent to at least a level 10 and an instructor.) He did a fine job - nothing special, but it worked. I will say the styling was one of the worst I've ever had though. I bought something else and, when I got home, thought, "that seemed expensive." I called to find out how much the item I bought was and how much the cut was. They charged me the master stylist rate. When I questioned this, I was told they charged me the master stylist rate because Tyler consulted with Eileen prior to the cut. (I've had my hair cut in NYC, DC, London, etc. No salon in the world charges for a mid-level stylist to consult with their boss.) I noted my dissatisfaction and they offered to put me back with Eileen. Great - that was what I had requested previously. She wasn't available for my next appointment so they asked if I would be ok with Tyler. I said "no problem at all - as long as I'm paying his rate - not a master stylist." The next day I receive an email telling me I don't fit their culture and all of my appointments have been canceled. The friend I recommended also went to Eileen. Eileen did an excellent job and then immediately sent my friend to Tyler as well. Three months later, Tyler screwed up her color. When my friend tried to get the situation rectified, Eileen refused to speak to her as well. The next day, she received a similar email noting this wasn't the salon for her and good luck in her hair journey. So there are two things here. It seems as if Eileen was trying to build Tyler's book. No problem - just say that - but don't charge people a master stylist rate when they are mid-level. The second (also related to the first) is that Eileen Kantor does not know how to deal with conflict. The company has such a following that resolving conflict does not appear to be necessary. Other clients will fill that spot. As long as you have no conflict and don't mind paying a lot for services, this salon can work. If you have conflict, they will not address it and will cancel any future appointments if you press the matter - even if you are very professional about it. read more

I'm beyond excited that she is has branched out on her own. You'll notice that her salon is different. They work as a team, and don't be surprised if you have Eileen and another stylist working on you at once. I followed one of the hair stylists, Kim that was at another salon to this new one that just opened. I have been seeing her for about a year and every time she did my hair, I was very happy that she got me from the dark brown hair I have to a blonde that wasn't brassy. I now live in LA and have serious trust issues with my hair because I have horror story after horror story. I asked for a cut and color the same as before but when I saw the end result I was very disappointed with the outcome. I was in foils the entire time so I couldn't see what was going on underneath. When I finally did, my hair was a neon highlighter yellow blonde. It looked like I was wearing a wig from a Halloween store and kept telling her it's really blonde.. it's super blonde.. it's almost platinum blonde, don't you think it will look weird when my dark hair grows back.. and she just said it wasn't ready. She began to cut my hair, which I didn't notice until I left but she gave me backwards bangs. The back of my head is completely short when all I asked was the smallest trim because I'm growing my hair out. She kept rushing going back and forth between me and another girl and when I was done, I noticed my hair had harsh lines that didn't blend together and asked her to fix it. When I went home, the friend I was staying with who also sees Kim said how horrible it looked and it looked bad because I have a darker skin complexion. I was only visiting for 3 days and wanted to make the most of it but was so embarrassed with my hair that I didn't even go out. I called the salon the day after which is a Friday. Their website said they were open but after calling them all morning there was no answer. So I decided to go there to find someone to talk to. The receptionist told me they were closed because the stylists were at an event and would be open tomorrow but did not indicate this at all on a sign or their voicemail. In a rush to get this fixed, the receptionist spoke with the owner Eileen and got me in on Saturday, a day before I was leaving. I showed them a picture of what I wanted done and that this highlighter color was not natural and just damaged my hair. Instead of the owner fixing my hair herself, which she should have done, she put my hair in the hands of an apprentice who was still learning. She walked her through it but left before I was finished being shampooed to see the end result. When she finished drying my hair, it was gray. Very gray and streaky and not the blended ombré honey blonde. I had salt and pepper hair and felt so embarrassed. It looked okay in pictures but was ugly in person. Not only that but my hair was so damaged and so gray that after consulting with hair stylists on my own - they told me the only way to get the blonde I would want would be to go dark again and start the year long process all over again. I was so upset I just wanted my money back. I called in on Sunday - again no answer. I called on Monday - again no answer. I left a voicemail and asked to speak with Eileen because this was so unacceptable. Instead of her reaching out to me, her manager Jessi assisted me. I told her what happened and they said they were happy to refund me. She sent me a refund receipt and said I should receive it in 5-7 business days. It has been 3 weeks and I still have not received my money back. All they give me is excuse after excuse as to reasons why they're credit card company hasn't returned it, instead of taking responsibility for it. I put my hair in their hands and trusted that they would take care of me and received the complete opposite. Instead I received a botched haircut, damaged straw hair to reverse they're mistake but didn't make it any better and excuses as to why my money hasn't been returned. I would have just left it alone if they refunded me like they said they did, but that's one too many flags for me to never come back and never recommend people to come here. read more

Eileen is a magical, badass unicorn hair fairy! I have been a client of hers for over 5 years now and have followed her moves to various salons and now am absolutely thrilled that the place I get my hair done is her own. There is no one on this earth I trust with my hair the way I do her. With 5 years of working together comes a great deal of familiarity - she understands my hair very well and my likes and dislikes and even then she never fails to sit down with me at the top of each appointment, look me in the eye, and discuss the details before picking up her scissors. That kind of attention and service is something I appreciate immensely. Eileen is a true artist but she is also able to be direct with her clients. I adored her from our very first appointment where she was honest enough to tell me that nothing she could do that day would make me love my hair. I had had a bad cut a few weeks earlier and she gave me a timeline for how long it would take for me to be happy again and what I would need to do to get there and she was spot on. I'm honestly sad I even have to write a review. I am still waiting for this company to refund me even for the product I sent back unused. I had the WORST experience here with Jessi & how the manager Brianna has handled it since. I came in for a consult first to make sure we were both on the same page as to what I was looking to achieve & so she could formulate a plan on doing so. Basically when I left & was in my car I went to push my hair back as I wear it back often (something I made sure to mention in the consult). Upon doing so I noticed that I had just paid $354 for a woman to not even TOUCH my roots (main reason I was there!) I basically paid her to redo the blonde I already had & leave my roots looking awful & untouched. I went back in & showed the receptionist as Jessi was with her next client. You will see I reached out to the owner via email & you'll see how the manager responded. Jessi asked if I could come back in 30 min & she would put some more foils. (So no she did not immediately offer to fix this per the managers words - I needed to come back). Why in the world would I waste more of my day with this? I had things to do which was why I booked an AM appt with her. She didn't even do a full foil. She did not touch underneath at all & I was livid she thought a few extra foils would do what I asked for in the first place. Attached is my email & her managers response along with photos of my hair prior & immediately upon leaving the salon. It's now March & I still am waiting to even be refunded for the product I sent back. I live in NYC but spend summer in Vail. Due to Covid I was unable to get the Cezanne treatment in NYC and there are no salons in Vail that offer it. After some research I discovered that Kantor in Boulder is a certified Cezanne salon. I called and an angel by the name of Annika answered the phone and between her and Kevin they found a time slot for me. I drove to Boulder a week later and entrusted my hair to her. The salon is 100% Covid compliant but also exudes warmth and care for the clientele. They treated me like a repeat customer, I felt so well taken care of and my hair looks AMAZING. Had a great 1st experience with Kantor this weekend! The salon was reco'd to me by a friend in my Moms' group; appointment was easy to schedule and the salon is easy to find in Boulder. My goal was to get rid of my yellow-tinted blonde hair and return to a more platinum shade. Jessi did just that! The blonde color she highlighted to is BEAUTIFUL and exactly what I had in mind. Jessi is a sweet girl - fun to talk to and efficient in her work. I loved that she showed me pictures on her phone of work she's done in the past to make sure we were on the same page before starting work. I can't offer a 5-star review at this time because I felt the prices were a bit high. I have been highlighting my blonde hair in Boulder, CO and Austin, TX for too many years to count, so I feel like I have a good understanding of what services cost on average. Before Jessi started my 3/4 highlight and haircut, in all fairness, she told me how much it was going to cost, and I went with it because I was excited about what we talked about. But the price is at a point that if they continue to raise it (annual, or whatever), I will be priced-out of the salon. Overall, would highly recommend Jessi as a resource for blonde hair! read more

I want to remain anonymous, so I am using a fake name, but I would like to share my hair story in hopes that this happens to no one else. One year ago I had hair that was so long and healthy (about down to belly button). I decided to cut it at the end of the summer. I then moved to Boulder (for my freshman year) and wanted a new change. I got a balayage (at a different salon) which looked beautiful. My hair was still healthy long at this point about down to just below my chest. I went to Jessi in hopes to get my hair blonder. I wanted to get it as light as I could while still being healthy. My hair appeared healthy, and I left the salon very pleased. However, once I washed my hair after getting it styled I realized how my hair was damaged. I thought no big deal its bleach my hair is at risk of getting a little damaged, I'll just give it time and only dye my roots. After going to Jessi the 3rd time, (The first time I went was a single process baby lights, the second and third I ASKED for root touch-ups, with about two months wait in between.) I changed my focus to making sure my hair didn't​ fall out. I have straight pretty thick hair that has never before been damaged. The last time I got my hair done was in January. In late March I cut 4 inches off about to my collarbone and went to a trusted salon in California to get it dyed to my root color. My hair is working its way very slowly to health. I am not using heat on it, using great products, and leaving it be and I still am getting breakage from the damage caused. I would not recommend Jessi and I am very upset with what happened to me. I wish I were told that my hair could not be processed as much as it was by her. If my hair could not take that bleach, I would have been more than happy taking it as light as it could while still having healthy hair or not bleaching it at all. Again I am not ever going to this salon again, but I hope this is read and taken into consideration when choosing this salon. read more

I'm really enjoying this salon! I highly recommend it. I was new to the area and I posted on a local Facebook group asking for suggestions about where to get my hair cut. Four people recommended Kantor and Company. I went with the majority and it has worked out great! I was having issues with my hair in the new climate and my hair dresser was able to help me address all my problems. I unfortunately can't remember her name, but if you go in and ask for the blonde stylist originally from Texas, they should be able to tell you her name. She is awesome! read more
