I can't believe I have not reviewed Tori. I started going to her a few years ago. She actually gets that I do not want to do anything more than blow dry my hair and do very minimal styling. She makes sure the cut matches what I want. She likes to get lots of details to make sure she is doing what you wish with your cut, but also offers feedback if she thinks you may not like the result. I also started bringing my mother to her. She does a fantastic job with her as well. She is friendly, fun and professional. Best thing she does is text you the day before with your appointment time. Tori has done wonderful things for my family's hair! She listens to each of us, so our hair looks great all the time. She gives us several ways to contact her for an appointment and she reminds us a few days ahead of time (just in case we forget). In addition to all of these things, she's a great person! I found many times when I went to salons, the person working on my hair would barely talk to me or would talk to their coworkers. Talk about feeling uncomfortable! Yelped for hair salons and came across Tori's. Glad that I did. When it comes to hair cuts, I have always had my friends n family not even notice any difference. Needless to say that am scared to try bold / different cuts and stick to longer than shoulder length hair, coming out of the salon just as I had gone in... This time I had it enough and told her I wanted something short. She took enough time in walking me through different cuts that she could do and how it would be etc and helped me choose one. I wasn't going to write a negative review, I never do, but after telling the story everyone has been so horrified that they implored that I write one. So here it is. I went to Tori because of all the great reviews. I get fantastic service in Boulder but wanted to find something closer to home. I couldn't believe how mortifying the experience was. My mother was in town and was with me so can attest to all this being true. Here it is step by step: I live 10 minutes away, so to be safe left for the appointment 20 minutes early as I'd never been there before. My GPS system took me a completely incorrect way, and I ended up in a trailer park maize near Tori's house. I was frantically trying to find the house and looking at our map once I realize it was totally off and so could not call to tell Tori we were running late. Once we were close enough that I could find my way, I tried calling and received no answer. We rang the door bell, and after about a minute or so (at this point we were 13 minutes late- I was looking at the time aware of my tardiness), Tori came to the door with sopping wet hair. She was clearly annoyed, but I didn't blame her because we WERE late. I told her I was sorry we were late and started explaining that my mother was visiting from out of town (actually out of continent) and she was just going to wait there and read a book. Tori responded by telling me that she was running behind and only had time to do colour, not cut. Now when you do colour it takes a long time, and ten minutes one way or another is not going to be a huge difference. But I didn't question it, not really thinking my tardiness was the cause of this big change of plans. However I did pause because I wasn't sure it would be worth having to take a second trip somewhere else for cut. I felt bad though, she'd set the time, I was late. Oh well. I'd go ahead and do it. So I sat down at her chair, She asked what I wanted and I told her. She started touching my hair like I was infected with the plague and said "I'm just looking because it looks like you haven't washed your hair in a long time and...". At this point, the way she was touching me and her tone, I did interrupt and say "Uhm, I just washed it two days ago (or yesterday. I don't remember now which I said. But in fairness it had been two days. I hadn't washed it THAT day because my hair gets washed during the hair appt)". She said something to the effect that she was just checking to make sure I didn't have lice. I was horrified. I do NOT have lice. I do have a very standard case of dry scalp however. She then said she had to make sure it was dry scalp and not lice. I again, assured her, being increasingly insulted, that I do not have lice I have dry scalp. She then says (now the 3rd lice comment) that if I ghad lice she couldn't't work on me. I told her of course, I wouldn't even BE there if I had lice!!!! clearly she was trying to get me out of the door. For being 15 minutes (????) late (actually it was 13). I realized there was no way that I could have someone so unprofessional and rude do my hair. She obviously did not like me, did not want to work on my hair. I was out of there. Never ever have I experienced anything like this and never ever have I walked out of somewhere like this. I'm not sure if it was personal issues that got taken out on me. I do not think being 13 minutes late earned my being so insulted and badly treated. I do not doubt that Tori does great work, the reviews clearly suggest that. I'm sorry I couldn't experience the same level of service as everyone did. PS: After that experience, I started scratching my head. I felt so self conscious. I had it checked- for the record I DO NOT HAVE LICE. I knew this for a fact before but she really got to me. Anyone in the hair industry would have recognized this to be dry scalp in seconds and certainly would have made sure it was something else before even SUGGESTING out loud tp their customer they had them. Know how you are looking for the right color, the right cut, the right person to "do" your hair. Well, there she is in Longmont. Really. Truly. You know the drill. Been going to the same person for years and don't want to change but you know you should. Tired color. Tired style. Tired cut. Well, I changed. And, I am so glad I did. I have been going to Tori for many years. I am very pleased with her attention to every detail. She takes time to cut your hair just right. I am usually in her saloon for about 3 hours every 6 weeks to get a cut, color, wax.I also look forward to her head massage. Her prices are very reasonable but the service is the best. I had a great experience at Tori's Hair Studio the other day. I moved here to Colorado & had yet to find a "Keeper" stylist until now. Tori really has a way with her clients. She gives you her full attention & she listens carefully to what you want & has a real knack for creating that perfect haircut.
