Really appalled by the haircut I received and treatment of me in Longmont. I asked for tapered/waterfall curtain bangs that curved at the cheekbone and end past my jaw. I booked a transformation cut so we had time to discuss and go over photos. Sahara honestly came in with an attitude and at one point scoffed "there's a lot going on here" (well, yeah, transformations are a big deal). She cut the bangs as shown in the photos which was not what we discussed at all. When I expressed displeasure she went and got a different employee who refused to validate my concerns but tried to clean it up and then hurriedly ushered me out without rescheduling (guess I'm banned now). Anyways, if you want bangs, do NOT go here. They used the excuse that Sahara was not confident cutting bangs (but didn't bother contacting me in advance to reschedule my appt and were happy to let her cut these). Just moved to Longmont and it's always challenging finding someone to trust with my curly hair. I did the curl lab with Sahara, who has naturally curly hair herself, and am so glad I did. She was friendly, personable and wanted my feedback and input throughout the whole cut. Unprofessional management and zero inclusivity for people of color. I booked an appointment specifically to fix a botched grey coverage job from a stylist with poor vision who left many greys uncovered. After I asked this salon if the stylist's vision was able to see greys given my recent experience, the owner rudely texted that she was cancelling my appointment on the same day that I had set aside time for it. She could have easily just booked me with someone whose vision she felt confident in instead of canceling unprofessionally. Of note, at least 7 other stylists from other salons happily and readily confirmed that their vision was up to date and they'd be happy to fix the botched job. Instead of offering a solution or booking me with a senior stylist, they chose to inconvenience me and waste my time. Furthermore, I was deeply uncomfortable with how they handled the mention of curly hair for a person of color on the phone. They acted as if it were a specialized "oddity" like people of color are alien beings and most of their stylists are whites only (yikes), rather than a standard hair texture they should be trained to handle. Highly unprofessional management and a lack of basic inclusivity for people of color. I have taken my business to one of the many other local salons that were happy to help. Plenty of other salons in the area are more than happy to provide professional service and inclusive care--go elsewhere. read more

I came in looking for a cute pixie for the remainder of the summer. I was nervous because my hair is curly which is difficult to cut anyway, and I was not disappointed! In fact, I was blown away with the quality and professionalism that was offered here! My stylists name was Craig, who has around 40 years of experience and curly hair himself. He did fantastic with cutting my hair and following the inspo photo I showed him, and really made sure to customize it to my face shape and curl pattern. He gave me tips for how to style short curly hair and made the whole experience pleasant and comfortable, including starting with a dry cut and going from there. Butchered my hair! I went in for a full baby light and instead my stylist took enormous chunks, applied too much bleach so that it bled out of foils leaving bands on my head. She also over processed my hair leaving the bleach on for 1.5hours, double the maximum recommended time. I am horrified with my service, my hair is damaged beyond repair and I am left with a long recovery process. read more

I came to studio boom to get bangs done. This was the first time I've ever been to a hair dresser and Shea (curly haired specialist) completely butchered my hair. My bangs were cut so far above my eyebrows and super uneven, same with my face framing. The pictures posted is the day of and two days after. I personally do not like leaving reviews let alone bad ones so I tried calling to talk to the owner/manager about it rather than leaving a review and was told I would get a call back but never did. They don't stand behind their services or products..and ghost you if there is a problem. I'd like to start by saying it was really hard for me to write this. I've only written one negative review in my life but if I can save anyone from wasting time, money and being embarrassed to walk out the door like I have been for months now..I feel its worth while. I spent thousands of dollars at Studio Boom in the last year and two months. I got my hair dyed, cut and extensions done there. The first time my extensions were put in I loved them. But..every time I had to move them up I had to go back within the week to have them fix the placement because they either stuck out the side of my head or gave me a halo effect. I had three different stylists in the time I was there due to their regular turn over.. i really loved the first girl..who came back at the end and ended up being my first and fourth stylist. This constant switch off made it so no one really knew what i liked. I treat my extensions like a baby..I use the products they told me to..I sleep in a silk turban, add oil to the ends and only use very good styling tools. My first set of extensions were still very wearable at 9 months. But, I wanted to go longer. So, I got a new set ..costing about a thousand dollars with installation. They had just switched their hair and promised I would love it more than I did the other. Within a few weeks I was having constant issues with knotting. I brushed it every 10 minutes when doing nothing but standing still and it still happened. And you know what..if they had dealt with it correctly I wouldn't have faulted them. I told my stylist when I went to get my roots done at about a month after they were put in just how much I hated them. She said not to worry and that the owner stood behind her products and would fix the problem at no cost to me because she wanted her customers to be happy. This was an obvious lie. Instead I spent the next two months going back and forth with questions that became very apparent they were trying to find out how to blame me. I will add the conversation to pictures. You can see I was nice about it all the way through. In the end all I wanted was an answer about if they were going to help or if I needed to remove them because I couldn't stand having them in my hair. After the last message they never replied..they sent my calls straight to voice-mail and never returned my message. I now have to go pay another company to remove their defective product..after looking like a homeless person who doesn't own a brush for the last two months. That's what thousands of dollars at Studio Boom will get you. I'd like to add that I do not blame my stylist. I believe she was really trying to help me. read more

They fit me in with Brandon after 5 minutes of waiting, and he listened to my requests for keeping length while trimming my hair into a style. By the time he was finished, I had several clients tell me how much they liked my hair. I love a business that is willing to take a walk-in, despite them being extremely busy at the time. I was told the stylist was 10 years experienced but it did not show. I could not tell the style wasn't what I wanted because at the end when she styled my hair she curled it. I have reviewed Studio Boom in the past but I wanted to share a bit more since Lindsey did my color just yesterday, Dec 8th. I have had Bonnie, Nicole that is no longer there and now Lindsey color and style my hair over the past two years in fact Lindsey has been coloring my hair and taking care of my requests since early this year. She is amazing! I must say that I had nothing less than perfect service from all three, all artistic and all uniquely talented but circumstances led me to Lindsey and I am HOOKED. She gets color and she gets me! This salon has some of the best professionals in Colorado and Lindsey no doubt stands out, she is a superstar! I have lived in Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago and overseas in Denmark so I have experienced much talent but this place is IT. The receptionist's are kind, professional patient and beautiful! That being said my first impression from the beginning has been stellar. This is a busy salon and yet they make certain to offer the attention that is bar none, the atmosphere and the energy is very positive which makes a big difference! I am extremely picky at times in the past I felt like my expectations could never be accommodated but this place makes it happen. I am shocked to see any negative reviews, I guess there's always that but I have never experienced anything but great results. I love being able to experience the other talent when my person is not available as well. I'm a hair snob -- I admit it! Having lived in London, NY, Milan, Florence, etc., I know good hairdressers. I jumped to Studio Boom due to moving closer to Longmont, & some people from my old place in Boulder, The Parlour, were now working there. I've had excellent hair cuts, styling, color & service generally. However, I'll mention Caleb and Sahara in particular for great color as well as courteous, warm service. The prices have been very reasonable too -- although I'm guessing that may not last. We'll see! read more

I tried to book an appointment on their website. It looked confirmed and I showed up for appointment and they said they didn't have it in their system. When you're working and have to take the afternoon off, only to find you don't have an appointment, it's pretty unacceptable. The worst part was the staff persons attitude. Cleary blaming me and offering no apologies or attempts to make it better. Technology fails, but how companies treat their customers when that happens says a lot. Determined not to make the same mistake we went in early and inquired around how long it would take and cost. Very reasonably priced and we made an appt for the following week with Brandon. Brandon was amazing!! He was enthusiastic, engaging and inspiring. He put my very excited but very anxious daughter at ease immediately and helped guide her through the long creative process in a way that she could understand and helped her stay engaged for 2.5 hours. And despite getting the wrong quote for the services he actually re-estimated the effort (she has short hair shaved on the sides) and time and gave her a substantial discount. I rarely go anywhere but cheap hair cut places (or cut my own hair) due to budgetary restraints. But a friend gave me birthday $$ so I could splurge. I had an ok experience here. The stylist I booked had to cancel last minute so they asked if I'd be willing to see someone else. I'd never been here so I agreed. My haircut was extremely dated - like late 90s layers à la Rachel from Friends. The color I got was semipermanent and faded within a month. I was upsold on some product as well, and the product is good quality but I felt very pressured. I will be getting my hair done back home in NYC whenever I visit from now on. read more
