Updating this review, I don't know why I left them a 4 instead of a 5 in the past! Original: Zinke has reasonable prices for well-trained stylists. Lo did a beautiful job with my short bob/pixie combo style. I get so many compliments on the quality of it. A master stylist is around $60-75 per haircut or you can get a great cut from other Zinke stylists for $40-50. The salon also has pretty relaxing atmosphere and a short neck massage is included with your cut purchase. Parking pretty easy to find in front of Macy's read more

I recently had an all over color applied to my hair at Zinke in Boulder, with a haircut right after the color. The color the stylist offered was a more yellow blonde, which was just what I wanted. I said that would be perfect. When she was done-the color was a brunette color. Not one blonde strand in it. I was sooo disappointed-but after it was done-what could I say? Too late to change it! And when I checked out-hair color and cut, plus a tip, it came out to over $350.00! I won't be coming back ever to be screwed over again. Just way too much to pay-especially when they can't even get it right!!! read more

I've been going to Zinke for all my color & cuts since last summer and I'm so happy and impressed. my stylist is Elisabeth and she was able to match my natural red hair color for gray coverage and designed a great curly shag for me. LOVE. Zinke's staff is so friendly & professional, especially the manager Nicole, and the atmosphere is really nice too. the shampoo bowls are different from any I've ever experienced and so comfortable on my neck! read more

Caitlin has given me the best hair of my LIFE and not only that but she corrected a horrible bleach placement I had done on myself previously. Truly she is an amazing stylist. Her ability to explain things during the appointment helped us get to a place of understanding on both ends. She is so kind and always seeking to better understand my goals and what I'm trying to explain I do or don't like about an inspiration picture. The time and care she took making sure I loved my hair is unlike any I have experienced and I think we landed on what truly will be the haircut and color that I'll have for the next 20 years. It just feels so ME and I feel like I am glowing. Truly it feels like magic. She can do anything!!!! read more

Great hair salon in Boulder. The staff is friendly and I always leave with a hair cut I love. Can't beat the location either, right in the heart of Boulder with underground parking and beautiful view of the flatirons. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience here today. I won't get into the details but there is a stylist, Olivia, who is very unprofessional, both to clients and to other stylists. Just FYI this is a teaching salon so you may get someone who is just starting out. Would not recommend. There are some talented and kind stylists here but I won't be returning. read more

I have been in to see AJ twice and loved both times! I have very dark brown natural hair and was looking for a change after not dying my hair for some time. I explained what I was looking for to AJ and she captured what I wanted perfectly. After the first color session it was 4 months before I decided I wanted to brighten it up again, great longevity. The balayage technique she did allowed me to have a soft grow out that lasted. It's not shown in the photos but my hair is very curly so I was worried how the color would translate when wearing my hair natural. Turns out it looks even better on my natural curls than on styled hair, which already looked great! The entire experience was great and I will definitely be returning for future appointments! read more

I've been a loyal Aveda customer for years and have always trusted the expertise of those who work with this company as well as the products themselves. I used to frequent the Zinke salon in Denver before it closed, and now I make the nearly 1 hr drive to the Boulder location to faithfully follow Caitlyn who is absolutely the best. She understands the color I'm looking for even as it changes ever-so-slightly seasonally and always guides me toward the perfect cut. I've never left unhappy after a hair day with Caitlyn! Zinke Boulder is located on the second floor in the mall. It's easy to find, but parking is a little ways away. I don't mind now that I'm not pregnant, but be sure to add a few minutes before your appointment time to factor in that. This location has truly dedicated all of its space to the salon and less of a spa-like, "one with nature" atmosphere like that other Aveda salons. The check-in counter is no bigger than you'd find at a hostess stand, and there are only a handful of seats in the waiting area, which is really just a hallway to the bathroom. I had to stand to wait for my last appointment as all of the seats were full. I would like to think it's rare though that the waiting area is that full, and usually I never wait more than a few minutes for Caitlyn, so it's not a huge deal. The salon area is wide open with a very industrial feel. It doesn't affect my time there, but it's definitely different than any other Aveda I've been to. They have space for about 10-12 stations, but I usually only ever see about 5-6 other people at a time, so it's not too crowded. I do like their reclining chairs and flat board wash station. It's nice to not have to strain my neck on the sink bowl anymore as your head can lie flat. Why don't more places have this?! On my first visit, we had a major hiccup where my appointment wasn't transferred from the Denver salon to the Boulder salon, so thankfully Caitlyn had a cancellation and was able to fit me in. I was supposed to receive a $50 credit which wasn't applied (this was caught by Caitlyn and fixed on my next visit). For the price I pay and the commute I now have, I wish it offered a little more comfort and customer service, but it's worth it for me to stay with Caitlyn as she really does a phenomenal job with my hair. read more

Elisabeth was great! She gave my son a quality back to school teen haircut and was very gentle with him. Thanks - we will be back!

My daughter went there after 3 weeks of waiting to dye her hair red and we drove 1 hour and then the lady who was taking care of my daughter said it was 759 but on the website it says 110 dollars for highlights and then she said it wasn't an appointment read more

The front desk help is totally inept. They did not enter the correct appointment time into their schedule, even after I called to confirm. The front desk help were then rude and unaccommodating when we asked to shorten the service with the remaining 2.5 hrs left in the appointment. She and the stylist were fixated on the fact that no one had 5 mins to wash my daughter's highlights out and therefore needed to cancel. I then wrote the manager about our experience and she is yet to write back several days later. Another time they canceled on us right before Xmas with no appointment options. I would however recommend Lauren as a stylist. She is lovely and provides great haircuts, color and service. Just not sure why any customer would pay such exorbitant prices for sloppy scheduling and terrible customer service. I will never go back. read more

I love coming to Zinke. I know my hair will always turn out beautifully. The space is adorable and so welcoming. best place in Boulder for sure. read more

Got highlights, lowlights and a cut. Fantastic work, Tara! The colors are perfection.

Didn't have a hairdresser in mind, but I struck gold when I was scheduled with Danielle. I now get my routine partial blonde balayage and trim with her, and she does wonders lifting my hair in one session safely without it feeling fried. She gets my black asian hair to a great cool tone and does a beautiful soft balayage. Also does great haircuts to help lift my heavy hair. I pay +$200 for my appointments, but I find it completely fair and worth it for the quality and the amount of time she spends on me. Studio also has friendly customer service as well. Photo was taken immediately after my last appointment with her about two months before this review was made. I make an effort to keep my tone with purple shampoo, so color is still just as pictured. read more

It was my first time at this salon so I didn't know what to expect but they exceeded my expectations. It was so clean, they are so kind, so responsive through text leading up to my appointment. I love that they have appointments later in the evening too. Ray was one of the best stylists I've been to. She made sure I was happy with the length and was so cognizant of what I wanted. I can't wait to go back for the next cut. read more

Update. Same rating - awesome and very accommodating salon as always, but I just need to make sure fellow men (and I'm sure she does great women's cuts too) know about Meryl Grace. She does a really good job with fades and trying to get the haircut to compliment that face it goes on. Few things please me more than a good hair cut and I just had to say something. Only thing about the salon in general is that it is a bit expensive - but then again, I think all salons are. I've been used to barber shop prices. Be prepared to spend a decent amount over $30. But, they offer FREE touch ups to just get a little side trim action between cuts and also offer student discount. So, maybe that evens it out. read more

I had such a stellar experience at Zinke Salon today and I have to share. First of all, they took every precaution during the pandemic, and I felt extremely safe and cared for the entire time. Every staff member was attentive and friendly. They were super kind and they made sure I felt very comfortable! Angela colored and cut my hair, she did an amazing job with the enlighten and tone service. I have never been happier with a salon service or my new blonde hair! She was delightful, professional and very skilled. The result was perfect, and I love my new hair! Angela is totally amazing, I will be highly recommending her to everyone. Angela is the best, book her, you'll be so happy you did! read more

Got a baylage for an education day and it was exactly what I was looking for! It's very rare that what you picture in your head is what the hairdresser delivers and that's exactly what I got! Pros: Talented colorist (without punk rainbow hair of her own) Cons: location...I live in Denver, but she's worth the trip for me! I am a very picky customer... especially when it comes to my hair. Megan has done exactly what I asked her to each time she's colored my hair and am always impressed with her results. She has made me look like a natural chocolate/caramel Brunette, as well as a bright (not bleached!) Blonde. I have fine hair that is easily damaged, so instead of over-processing my hair quickly, like most stylists (time is $), she allows the color to process slowly without heat, keeping my hair healthy! She is the only stylist who doesn't make my hair break off when I go blonde and who can layer and style my hair to look thick and full. Megan is not only talented, she is also a delight to be around for your time in the chair! read more

Ariela (Ella), is one of the best stylists I've ever been to! If you are needing a blonde specialist or a balayage specialist she is your gal. Not only is she a great stylist and keeping up with all the trends, she has a heart of gold and is very attentive in her clients. I'm writing her a 10/10 review because of the amazing work she has done to my hair. Look below At the pictures so you can see what i am talking about! read more

I just had the Global keratin treatment done. The stylist applied the chemical very sparingly to my hair. My roots are what needed the most attention as I had a lot of new growth and hadn't had keratin treatment done in over a year given covid, and that's where she applied it to the least. The very top of my hair was practically untouched. She started applying it at least a 4 inches from the root. When I asked her about applying it to the root, she said the solution would creep up to the top as she combed it through. This hasn't been my experience before when getting keratin treatments. Usually, the stylist applies it to the root. Long story short, I left there with the same problem I walked in with...my roots are still in the same condition. Friendly atmosphere otherwise read more

I booked an appointment so I could celebrate my 40th bday with a new haircoupe. Saturday at 9.30, appointment made on the phone. We drive all the way down from the mountains to be there. I arrive at 9.20, nicely on time and they tell me I am to late, my appointment was at 9am. I should have checked my text. A text I never got. Then I should have checked my mail. A mail I never got. What I did get was a sorry and goodbye. They can't keep up with their scheduling and I just have to be happy with that? Great job, people, not. read more

I had a hair cut this week. The salon has new processes in place to keep their clients safe and comfortable during the Covid situation. The salon is SPOTLESS clean. Everyone wore masks, there are limited people in the salon and they sanitize galore. Thank you for the awesome cut and color!! As usual :) I appreciate all the attention to detail to keep Boulder looking good while staying safe! read more

Went to get bangs and got a horrible result. I showed her a picture and got the worst "bangs" that she cut from the middle half of my head and made them too thick and out of place. Cannot even blend the length with the rest of my hair because she cut it too short. Thanks for the horrible experience. read more

I made an appointment online for late in the day before I had to leave the country in the morning. When I got to my appointment, I was told that the online system to make reservations doesn't work so I didn't have an appointment. They didn't offer any apologies for the inconvenience, the 3 girls at the front desk didn't tried to set me out with anyone or apologized for the flowed system. When I was leaving all I heard was the sarcastic "happy holidays", to try to make me feel like it's my fault for being upset that their systems don't work and I I didn't get the appointment that I thought I got per their online system. I love Lauren and she is great and I love to get my hair done with her, but besides that, this was a terrible experience. I hope they train their front desk more about customer experience. They clearly have none. read more

My daughter was unable to get in with her normal stylist and took an appt so she saw someone new- she asked for the same haircut with curtain bangs- the stylist didn't say a word to her during her appt and she came home with a choppy mess that was nothing like her normal haircut. She called back and asked for a refund and was told it would take 48 hours for a manager to get back to her- I called back for her to see about getting an appt and the girl was very rude with me and I will admit I cursed after I felt like she wasn't willing to listen to me but within 10 minutes my daughter received a text that she was issued and refund and no longer able to have services from their salon...AS IF she would go back! they are mediocre at best as stylists and overpriced read more

I always loved zinke and have gone there for 5 years, but after my last haircut, I will not be back! When I arrived there for my appointment, they said they had nothing scheduled for me. I get it, mistakes happen- but then they said they had no record of me in their system despite me being a customer there for YEARS! The front desk girl was really not that helpful, but they did end up working me in with my usual girl. The whole hair cut felt rushed and made me feel like a major inconvenience. I get hair cuts 2 times per year MAX so I want it to be a great experience, especially for how much they charge. Well, since she rushed through my haircut, now I'm left with one strand of hair that is randomly much longer than the others (see photo below). read more

Nina Mango is a national treasure for us thick, coarse, and curly-haired gals. She's got an eye for detail and an artist's hand. I always struggle people who are able to do my hair without butchering it, and she is a diamond in the rough. read more

I never really write reviews unless I have amazing service or extremely poor service. So here it goes; This salon needs to train their stylist better. I went in for a basic trim, (i'm trying to grow my pixie cut out). I told the gal that I just needed the sides and back trimmed up just a bit. What she did was unacceptable. She cut the sides and back completely off and basically gave me an "army hair cut" Ya know, the kind thats super short on the sides and long on the top. She didn't even blend the sides in. I had a bowl cut on the top of my head! I was so upset that I immediately left the salon, thinking that It would look better after I style it at home. NOPE. I got home and saw how badly she butchered my hair. I did go to a different stylist at a different place the next day and the gal fixed my poorly butchered hair. I will NEVER go back to Zinke. EVER. read more

I've rarely liked a haircut on day one- but this cut was different. Alexus did exactly what I asked and it came out beautifully. I've been going to Kiley at Zinke for almost one year now and I've never been happier with my hair! Kiley has color corrected and cut my hair, and most recently given me the most beautiful ashy balayage. I've gone to several stylists for this look, and none could pull it off like Kiley. She is amazing and comes highly recommended. She is also a super warm and fun person while you get your hair done for a couple hours! Booked an appointment for a cut and highlight via email. There was no online booking option for the service I wanted. No big deal. Seven emails later, it was my understanding an appointment had been scheduled. Waited a few days but never saw a confirmation email. Didn't think too much of it. Day of I call the salon several times to try and confirm but never got through. At this point something definitely seem off but desperate times. I took work off early and showed up at my scheduled slot, only to find out they had no record of my appointment. When I mentioned I called several times, the girl at the front said their phones had been down for days. Offered to get me in with a different stylists for a cut and color at separate times. Needless to say this was extremely disappointing experience and I don't feel like nearly enough was done to try to accommodate me for their mistake. I'm from out of town and needed my hair done for an event the follow day. Guess I'll be rocking my rona locks instead. read more

Very professional and they stylists where super friendly. Probably the best I have ever looked after my haircut. Will be back soon!

Cassidy did an amazing job on a fresh new haircut for me. I went from scraggly shoulder length hair to perfectly cut textured bangs and layers! I had a photo of what I wanted and she matched it exactly. Cassidy let me know the work it would take to maintain my bangs since I have not had them in a decade and showed me their Aveda dry shampoo. Supper efficient - I was in an out in less than 45 minutes; she really knows what she is doing! I am excited to see what she can do with some blonde highlights next time I come in. Highly recommend! read more

Beware if you purchase Aveda products. I bought a Black Malva shampoo that stained my tub. Because I had bought it more than 2 weeks prior they would not refund or exchange the large bottle of shampoo. They do not stand behind their products, even when they are flawed and discontinued. Beware when you purchase a product you are not sure that you love! read more

I have only good things to say about this salon! I came in a few days ago for a partial balayage with Kiley. After a very thorough consultation, we decided we were going to do full foilayage highlights (balayage wrapped in foil). Kiley also gave me the price upfront, which was really helpful and gave me the opportunity to tweak my appointment in case I felt the price wasn't right for me. During my appointment I was given a neck massage, delicious Aveda tea, and a great hair washing. My color looked amazing and I've received so many compliments on it, and I swear my hair has never felt cleaner or sexier after my wash and blowout. I would highly recommend Kiley and Zinke Salon! read more
