I have been a customer over the years at this location. I have a client phone number with them (which you have to enter into the computer when you arrive) and I receive texts staying I have five dollars off if I spend over $60. I went in a couple of days ago spent $80 in total I gave them my credit card and said please deduct five dollars as was stated in my text. The owner said it was too late that they had already run my credit card and they couldn't do it and that I should just wait for next time. I said just void that and run it again and he refused to do it. I don't understand if they know me as a customer and have my phone number in their system that the discount is not done automatically. Horrific experience the other day at Contempo. I made an appointment for my 82 year old mother and I to have pedicures. When we arrived, we were told to wait although my mother is obviously frail and walks with a cane. The woman at the desk spoke over my head to the next customer to let me know she was done with me. While checking out I was told they DO NOT ACCEPT credit cards which I found strange because I paid by credit card there about a month ago. My mom was gracious enough to pay and tip with Venmo. $45 for a basic pedicure is already high, and my mother did not even get her nails polished. Today I see that my credit card was automatically charged $82, in addition to the $100 that my mom paid at the time of service. Not only do they accept credit cards, they had mine on file! This was an ugly experience. I will never visit Contempo again, and strongly urge others to consider this nasty behavior. read more

Been a customer for as long as they've been in Gunbarrel and the services have gone downhill. The basic for $35.00 is not more than a polish change and a slight rub. If one wants more then one must go for an enhanced service with price increases up to $65.00. Over the years, these folks asked that tips were in cash and most everyone complied. As of August, they now charge a 3% fee for using a credit card; their cost of doing business, not for the services rendered. This place is becoming a factory. It's been convenient for me to come here as I live in the neighborhood. But right now, I'm not sure if I'll be coming back. read more

My experience has always been decent. I usually go to a nail salon that is higher quality further in boulder called polish. But when one of my girlfriends want to go for a pedicure then we just go here.They're products are ok but when they massage your legs I can't help but hope they stop.The technician rubs way too hard and in the same area over and over again. And I hate to say this but conversing with the workers it close to impossible all the words they know are the essentials. I'm not trying to sound rude to any extent I'm just reporting what I've noticed. The one positive is that they know they're nail art if you have naturally long or fake nails. My friend wanted a nail art from one of they're choices and keep in mind she has shorter nails. The technicians talked for about 20 min about her nails in the back. Horrible and painful experience. Just got a pedicure and i came in with gel on my toes and he electronically sanded it all off, thank god it came off as my nails started to get hot. He didn't use any nail polish remove after sanding top gel coat off. He then was just so fast and aggressive with the massage even placing the toe seperaters like he was upset. He kept cutting the tips of my nails with cuticle cutters. Then after he applied gel polish he kept cutting my nails with cuticle cutters!! He also rounded out my big toe (naturally they were flat, I've always cut them straight across). It looks like I have a bug thumb where my big toe is suppose to be! Not only that but he kept digging into the sides of my nails with cuticle cutters even after my toes were polished. Really disappointed as I paid $50 for a horrible pedicure, both feet look totally different from each other. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and hoping I don't develops an infection being my big toe is in so much pain!! Hurt even to step on the gas pedal driving home. They of course were not able to issue a refund but said I could get discount for next visit however I will never return to this place!! 0 stars read more

I really wanted to love this place. The way the manicure started was great. She asked about my preferred nail shape and kept adjusting it until I was happy. Then the cuticle work was really thorough. everything was going great until the last cuticle where she cut me. Okay it was an accident I get it but I asked for alcohol to clean it and she pressed acetone on it instead! Polish and everything else was fine. Overall-- average manicure. I'm visiting family and brought my niece and sister in for pedicures. I am a 2-3 times a year pedicure person so I don't mind paying a bit more for a good experience. By a good experience I think about price, neatness of paint job (should be neater than when I paint my nails), quality of the 'spa' foot prep experience and quality of massage. The only thing that was really worth the $27 I was charged was the massage. I had two different attendants work on my feet and the paint job was terrible...just so spotty. I greatly appreciate the work that goes into providing this service, so, like I said, I'm not put out by paying a bit more for a good experience. As compared to other salons I've visited while staying with family in San Jose, Carlsbad or back home in Seattle, this place was over priced for the service it provided me. I observed other clients (regulars I believe) getting a better experience and the work on my niece and sister was okay...I was just surprised they were okay being so sloppy with me. read more

I have gotten my nails done here before and I've never had an issue but now. I paid $55 for a refill for my acrylic nails, I get my nails done once a month which they tend to last for me. The lady that did them took 2 and a half hours which is absurd since the most I've been there for a refill has been an hour and a half. This time it felt super awkward since one of the ladies literally stood next to me for a good 15-20 minutes just talking to the other girl and looking at my nails. Clearly I have no clue what they were saying but it's uncomfortable. Usually my nails last a month, I've had them for 18 days and they're unsticking themselves from the Cuticle part (if you have acrylics you'll understand) I've never had an issue like this since now and I will definitely NOT be going back. read more

Way too bright! It's like a cafeteria. Bright and white. They not only speak another language to one another the entire time you're there but they also play television streaming from their country. Not very friendly. If you just want your nails done it's fine. If you'd like to relax and zen out don't go there. read more

I came here for a pedicure and it was the worst pedicure I have ever had. I get my nails done regularly but I just moved back to Colorado from California and I thought I would try this salon since it was right down the street from me. My pedicure lasted less than 10 minutes and the lady only put lotion on one of my legs. She got distracted and left me for about two minutes and came back and went straight to painting my nails instead of finishing the lotion/massage part of my pedicure. Note - I do not get my nails done on a regular basis but this was for my wedding. I was recommended to go here by my boss. Her nails always look nice and natural even though they are tips. So I just figured I would get the same done. Cost for tips $35 Time spent - under 45 minutes but close. Recommended technician - An Establishment - standard set up with "booths" that look like they came straight out of the eighties. Framed pictures on the walls of nails of scary lengths. Two TVs running at the same time. An is very nice, patient, and pays some serious attention to detail. An also did two donuts on my cuticles with her drill bits. Wasn't the end of the world - did draw blood. I did see her sray down her utensils with alcohol. When I was done cooking my nails I went to pay and then started digging for my keys. An ran over and checked my nails and they were destroyed. She had to re-do them and she wasn't rude about it in the least. Then as I was working on my skin cancer for the second time in the nail cooker I knocked two nails together and created a spider web of polish between the two nails. This time she just removed the "string." I personally didn't care at this point because apparently I am an oaf when it comes to nails. They still looked good. Time Lapse - It has been six days and my nails are already growing (they grow fast) so I can see the acrylic (?) near my cuticles, but I am still receiving compliments. My nails came out more Jersylicious and squoval than expected. I guess I should have said something about design but she ran with it. The nails look nice but I would have liked them maybe a little less wide. I guess just speak up. Tip in cash. Nail Removal - Told it would take about 15 minutes. It took 45 minutes and three different people...seriously. I can still see the ridge in my nails, but the fakes are finally off! She filed my own nails down into odd ovals, which I don't care for. I think I spent more time with my figners in acetone than is probably recommended. She offered to paint my nails in clear polish after I washed them but I wanted my nails to breathe so I declined. Good decent place to get your nails done. I got gel manicure and spa pedicure. The ladies were very polite. The ladies really did care about doing a good job on my nails. My gel nails were coated 3 times with the color and twice of the clear coat. That's a real good amount of coat that will last at least two weeks. My pedicure was nicely done. I was there during lunch so I had to leave shortly after my gel nails were done. They did a good job about making sure my pedicure stayed that way it did even after I put my flats back on. There seems to be a lot of regulars that came there which is a sign of good solid business. I recommend going to this nail salon if you are in the Gunbarrel Boulder area. read more

Last appointment was as a walk in and this most recent shellac/gel manicure lasted just over two weeks, about normal for a gel mani and keeping in mind that I am ridiculously tough on my manicures. Contempo nails is seriously the place to go. They have the best prices compares to anywhere in the Boulder county area that I have ever been too. I took a break from them a while ago ( the location in Boulder) and I have had nothing but bad experiences at other nail salons. So I have turned me and my friends back over to Contempo nails! They did a great job. I received a mani and pedi, and did gel on my nails. They work on your hands while you are receiving the pedi so it was faster than normal. Everyone was friendly and effecient, the salon is very clean, and the price was as expected for the service. I recommend an appointment as it was clearly a hopping place after 11am. read more
