I am so happy I discovered Lily C at Planet Nails! It's easy to make an appointment online, I am always greeted with a smile and everyone there is so friendly. The pedicure chairs are wonderful! Usually someone comes by with cold cans of sparkling water, which makes me feel pampered and valued. Lily C is a delight to spend time with as she does my builder gel nails. She's artistic and can do anything if you bring her an inspiration photo. One thing I really appreciate: I lost a fingernail in an accident and it has taken forever to get it to grow back in a healthy way. She's advised me on the right way to treat my nail and is always extra careful so it doesn't hurt. I always enjoy talking with her, too! I am moving to Spain next month and she will be missed. The only other thing I'd mention (and it's still 5 stars!) is that interior is dated and could use a refresh and tidying up. It would be worth closing for a few days to give the place a makeover. This is a superficial thing yet there are lots of choices for nail salons in Boulder and I'd like to see Planet Nails' interior reflect the excellent service and wonderful people that work there. read more

I thought the second experience here would be the same or similar as the first. Unfortunately, I was met with genuinely the worst service and an extremely rude nail technician. She was impatient almost the entire time and would get aggravated and would cut me off whenever I would ask a simple question about my cuticles or asking if she can cut a nail more since it was uneven. When she was cutting and filing my nails, she constantly kept nicking me and was cutting deeply in my skin on 5 DIFFERENT fingers. It constantly was stinging and throbbing even after I left!! I'm so saddened by this, especially since last time it was a great experience for me. But if one nail technician is able to hurt me this bad, I can no longer trust other technicians. read more

I'd give this place 4 stars. A friend and I came over the weekend to get bubble pedicures. It was really busy and we had to wait, even though we made appointments. I would suggest going mid-week if you can. The pedicure chairs were really big and offered arm and thigh massages. The opulent pedicure chairs were a big plus! I didn't get a lot of leg massage during my pedicure, but the shape of my nails and color application was great! Good work overall. Prices were average, even a little cheaper for the area. Here are my critiques - the shop is pretty small and there really isn't a lot of space to wait to be seen. My friend wanted a regular pedicure, but was handed a book with only gel colors and so there was a mixup where she got gel instead of regular polish. I would suggest this place if you're in the area and want a quick service type of treatment. If you're looking for a more spa like experience, I would recommend going to another spot. read more

Been here twice. First time I got a full acrylic manicure set. They were so bumpy and all different shapes. The worker also had terrible BO. The second time, again, all my nails are different lengths. When I walked in, I started looking at the different color options after checking in and one of the workers just came up and moved the cart of color options to the other side of the room for no reason. The man doing my nails cut way past my nail line on most fingers and it's very painful. My left hand nails are significantly shorter than my right hand nails. Halfway through the appointment a woman came in complaining about her nails hurting and how she couldn't handle it anymore and had to get them taken off. And to top it off, the worker kept using the drummel on my skin even after I said it hurt and made me bleed. Overall, there must be better nail places in Boulder. read more

My partner and I made last minute appointments for pedicures and were so pleased with the service David and Tina provided to us. Parking was vast as we came in early. Not to mention the lot is large and shared with other small businesses and King Soopers. Seating was comfortable and the pedicure options were many (both for bubbles and colors). I appreciated the book of colors to choose from for nail color. The even more exciting part was that they each were available for both regular polish and gel (so you can match your fingers to your toes). The atmosphere was calm and while the tv was on (American idol) it was at a level that was easy to either decide to listen to or tune out. Both David and Tina were intentional and in tune with our individual needs. The only things that could have made it better for me was some magazines to read and beverages. I really wanted to like my Christmas Mani/Pedi today, after my monthly aesthetician (waxing) appointment in Boulder, since I didn't have time to get back to Denver for one, and since salons are open later in Boulder. Unfortunately, my gel pedicure didn't trim my nails short enough, or ask me, and my dip manicure didn't make all my nails even when I wanted file only. More importantly, initially I said I'd match my hands to my toes, but later wanted a "white gold," and asked to look at the color swatches again. I was never brought them, and instead this gold was recommended. I said, sure, I'll try it, and I didn't like it that much with the dip powder, but she said it'd look beautiful once done, with the gel color on top. After 2.5-hours of my mani / pedi, by the time it was done, I thought the gold is way too yellow, not at all the white gold I wanted / for which I asked, but I didn't want to invest any more time, so now I need to re-do it. I even asked ChatGPT, to see if I was imagining this gold being terrible on my skin color, and even AI agreed it looks bad. So I'm disappointed, after also investing a lot of money, and needing to file a few of my toenails smooth, as some also had sharp edges, and I didn't want to rip my sheets. I wish I'd been more adamant about wanting to see the colors again to choose my "white gold" rather than just trusting. read more

My daughter & I went to the salon again yesterday on her bday for a set of bday nails for her & just a regular clear mani for me. We've been here about a dozen times over the past several years without issues. I wouldn't say it's top quality, but I've not had any problems there until this time... The staff was very friendly to our faces. & Then turned around & spent the entire appointment saying nasty things about us to the other staff members, assuming we couldn't understand her. When one of the employees noticed we started getting uncomfortable with what was being said, she started to disengage with the older woman who apparently really needs to fuel herself off of pure negativity. I texted my kids that we wanted to get out of there ASAP after our manis. 1 clear (VERY sloppy) dip manicure & 1 set of short acrylics with 1 plain black star design on 1 nail...took nearly 2 hours. Which isn't TOO terrible IF they had done a stellar job. My daughter was sliced by the employee doing her set & when it started to bleed the employee tried to put alcohol on it!! And then proceeded to rip it open even further causing more bleeding & intense pain. We are about to leave the house to head to an urgent care to get her antibiotics for it, as it's already started to flare up. Which also tells us that this place is not only unprofessional quality & rush even when there's nobody else around..but that they're extremely unsanitary!!! Don't waste your time or money here. The 1 person who used to do an amazing job at this place no longer does the same thourough job she used to do in keeping the place together & highly functional. I am very disappointed in the experience that we had & we will definitely never be returning to this salon. We really wanted to make this our go-to place after we saw Eagle go downhill in the exact same way the past couple years. It seems to be the trend in Boulder. Upping prices again would be entirely reasonable if clients were actually able to reliably get a QUALITY mani or pedi. Boulder is so disappointing in that regard in almost every sector. You're better off driving to Denver, it's the only place we've found any reliably decent salons that haven't shut down or switched owners since Covid! I have mixed feelings in posting this review because I really liked the lady who did my nails the first half dozen times as I went here. She was very sweet and accomodating.. but it sounds like she just wasn't able to retain staff with a similarly integrity-driven vibe. So I really wanted this to be our family's place. We do weekly salon visits for repairs, etc bc we have to maintain professional looking nails constantly. So this would've been a great opportunity for them too. I'm impressed each time I leave this salon! The staff is hospitable in ways I've never experienced at a nail salon, and the techs are well rounded. I've requested most services, from cat eye polish to pigment powders and 3D gels, they do it all! The techs have a great eye for details in reference photos so you can expect your nails to look just like, or very close to, your favorite pictures. I'm indecisive, so I came in with multiple reference photos that had attributes I really liked, and my hands came out looking better than anything I could have imagined. Also, they really get into the spirit of special occasions. For the month of December they did a spinning wheel give away where you could get complimentary services, or gifts. They will do what they must to keep their clientele and that alone says so much about the business they run. We've gotten quite good at doing our own mani/pedis so expectations are high when we have to pay. In town for a wedding, we scoured area nail salons on Yelp far too long. Planet Nails had the least negative reviews but also had the least appealing store front. The staff, however, kindly received us and Miss Africa was a pleasant surprise! She was very kind, gentle and oh so thorough with my basic pedi. Meanwhile, my daughter wasn't as satisfied with her French dip mani done by Jenny the manager. Admittedly, she did ask to have her nails cut short, so she didn't mention a word to me or the manager and was ready to go. But the manager noticed on her discontent. In a very professional conversation, she offered to fix what wasn't right. She had Africa remove what she (the manager) had just done, then Africa did a new mani very much to her liking. If we lived here, we'd definitely come back! Update: I've discovered we were charged for the fix! Again, my daughter didn't mention a word to me or the manager. If I had known, I'll assume they would've comped the fix or at least discounted it. read more

Against my better judgement, I decided to try a new place for a pedicure because I had time to kill while in Boulder and I was due for one. Never again. The woman who did my nails was super sweet, but my nails looked horrible and the bubble pedicure was nothing special and not worth the extra $10. My nails weren't cut or filed evenly and some are crooked and cut at an angle. I'm not sure what happened there. The woman also put way too much nail polish on that even after the timer went off after drying my nails, I still ended up having all of the polish smudge off just minutes when I got to my car so three nails lost their polish, and I'm very careful even after waiting for them to dry in the salon. It's the worst pedicure I've gotten and I wish I had just waited to go to my usual for the past 15 years, B Nails in Denver. Thankfully, nails will grow and I can get them fixed back at my usual, so it's not the end of the world, but it was just really disappointing and a waste of money when I was really looking forward to a pedicure. read more
