Amazing food, prices great for the quality & portion size. Super friendly staff and perfect little comfy country cafe

Lamb sliders are so yummy!

We love coming to this restaurant every time we visit Garner State Park. They have the best lamb sliders! Chicken sandwich is also very good. And their pies are delicious! Service is a bit slow, but worth the wait.

This place is really charming, but it sucks that the service and the food isn't better. We came here for breakfast, but apparently they do "limited menus" so we could only pick between eggs, toast, biscuits, hash browns, home potatoes, bacon, or ham. I originally came out here because I saw pancakes in previous reviews and was in the mood for pancakes. The food was mediocre and it's disappointing that a small town country place serves you artificial butter spread & premade frozen hash browns. The customer service and speed of receiving your order needs work. They also got our order wrong which no big deal, we still ate it. I really hope they improve because this place has potential to be so much more.

I was in town for a volleyball game and decided to wait to eat in Utopia instead of back home. My yelp search led me here. Food was ok, because I was hungry. Didn't live up to my expectations, based off of other pictures I saw online. Portions were very small for a $22 tab. Waitress did the minimum, not very friendly or welcoming. I had the pepper steak and baked potato. Salad was no good though, I did my best to eat it..I don't like wasting food.

Every time I'm Utopia I need to stop at this Southern style and cozy. Their pies are delicious and in this case Grilled Chicken sandwich. If you go for lunch is packed. They are always courteous and friendly. Great service!!

Side salad was no bueno

Can't have too high of expectations for a cafe in the middle of nowhere, but this place was pretty good. I got the burger and sweet potato fries and thought it was great. I had some friends get a side salad and it was awful - room temperature and weird textured lettuce with no toppings. Other than that, everyone enjoyed their sandwiches. Friendly service, cool atmosphere.

This place is great ! Food is really good southern style . Love the small town vibe and the history with it being in 7days in utopia . Services was very friendly

Breakfast taco with fresh salsa

So, here's the deal. In a large city, Lost Maples Cafe would probably get a three star rating from me. But in a small town like Utopia, where options are very limited, it definitely shines brighter than the rest, so four stars seems more fair. The menu options are a bit limited but everything we ordered was freshly made and tasty, including the vegetable omelette, homemade biscuit, and the breakfast taco, served with a side of fresh salsa. Pies are very fresh, and the coconut meringue top and filling were among the most moist and freshest I've had in many years. It's worth coming here for the pie alone. The staff is friendly and create a family style atmosphere. Everyone in the place was relaxed and casual, embodying that small town feel that so many people seek to experience and recreate. Utopia definitely got it! Good stuff. I recommend.

Although it is a drive from our area, it is worth the drive. Excellent food and service.

This is our favorite brunch in Fred…read more Sam has taken care of us many times and she's wonderful! The whole staff here is top notch. They updated their porch to have more coverage which will be great once summer really hits. Inside is great too. We've sat in all the areas. We went all out for our brunch date (mom & dad time out). Cold brew with vanilla, caramel iced latte... yummmm! We started with zucchini fries and they were hot, crunchy and delicious. I had the brunch burger (it was huge!) with sweet potato fries. I love their sweet potato fries. Husband tried the special- biscuit love - says it's good for anyone who loves gravy and brunch dessert was the banana French toast - we got the banana on the side and a side of berries. Yum yum yum. Soft and pillowy. Thank you Sam! See you soon :)

She really made the experience. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, substituting bacon for ham, with a biscuit and gravy on the side. The Eggs Benedict was good. I loved the unexpected touch of Swiss cheese, which added a nice twist to a classic dish. The hollandaise was a little on the sour side, but the bacon was cooked perfectly. The biscuit and gravy was the real star of my meal, so good that I almost wish I had ordered it as my main! Definitely getting that next time. My husband went for The Big Ass Sandwich and loved it. Fair warning- it lives up to its name. It's big, it's messy, and it's absolutely worth it. He said the same thing I was thinking: we need to come back. We'll definitely be returning on our next trip to Fredericksburg. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great breakfast spot with good food and even better service!

This restaurant is located in an odd location behind a motel in Bandera. I got the chicken club…read moresandwich, which I really enjoyed. The Texas toast was fragrant, and the flavours of the sandwich blended very well together. My cousin got the fried catfish platter, which didn't have much of a flavour, but he said that means it's a river catfish. He is a catfish connoisseur and liked it. The jalapeno hush puppies that came with it were excellent. However, the coleslaw had a very odd flavour, and neither of us liked it. It tasted acrid to me. I didn't really like the fries because of the seasoning, but I still had a few. The server initially gave my cousin water instead of the sweet tea that he ordered. They served us our water and sweet tea in mason jars, which looked very nice, but the water was not pleasing to my taste buds as it tasted like unfiltered tap water.

I had a mushroom swiss burger and onion rings with ranch...so yummy. Cons and the reason for the 3 stars...There weren't any clean tables and the menus were dirty...we saw that there was only one guy seating, getting drinks and serving. I'm guessing he was also the cook, because it took an hour and a half to get our food. Another guy showed up near the end of our meal and was helping take orders. They were obviously short staffed, but I was proud of the guys...they were hustling.

Had a girlfriends weekday luncheon here and had an enjoyable lunch. I ordered the all you can eat…read moresoup and salad bar, perfect on a fall day. The chicken tortilla soup was fresh, with good amount of chicken and veggies. Cheese and chips were plated on the side. The salad bar had a good variety of veggies, pasta, dressings, and fruit. Honestly I was full after one bowl of soup and salad ! lol wasn't able to take advantage of all you can eat. Service was friendly. They had a great outdoor patio, awesome weekend entertainment. If you know Matt Simmons, you know I like to arrive ahead of schedule. Gives me time to soak in the vibe of the place and, more importantly, work on a proper buzz. Got seated immediately, but I'll admit, it took a good 8 to 10 minutes before anyone checked on me. I was sitting there parched and looking like a forgotten extra in a cowboy movie. Once they spotted me though, things turned around fast. Service kicked in, drinks flowed, and all was forgiven. Still would've liked to sneak in a beer or two before I had to start fielding questions about my week at work. Normally I'm a Bud Light guy, but for whatever reason, this felt like a Miller Lite kind of night. You know you made the right choice when each one tastes like it's opening the door to the next. Menus were a bit of a letdown. Flimsy, faded, and borderline sticky. I went searching for fried mushrooms, but the print was so rough it looked like it said "Fred shrooms." A place with this kind of rep should fix that simple detail. Food-wise, I ordered the large pepper steak and took a trip to the salad bar. Gotta give props to the young gentleman working that station. It was spotless, organized, and clearly taken care of by someone who gives a damn. That salad bar had more hustle than some kitchens I've seen. The pepper steak, ordered "hot," packed a solid kick that had me nodding in approval. Not just spice for show, but real flavor that lingers in the best way. Final thoughts: clean place, friendly staff, no surprises on the prices. It's what you expect from a solid steakhouse experience. Not mind-blowing, but dependable, and sometimes that's exactly what you need. Four stars. One for each Miller Lite I wish I had before the table filled up.
