Came in for lunch because we were in D'Hanis already. Reviews pushed us to eat here and we are glad they did. Ambiance is great. Small town diner feel, friendly employees, awesome decor. If you're a stuck up city-slicker, this is not the place for you. Food came out quickly, drinks never ran dry, and the food...oh man. Wife had the chimichanga with chicken, smothered in queso. Beans were surprisingly delicious, rice was really good, and the queso was fantastic. Great flavors. Large size. Relatively cheap. I had the Mexican stir-fry with chicken. It's unique, and definitely something everyone should try. I wish it had more squash, but there was plenty of chicken, a small bed of rice and fresh avocado. Another great find in the San Antonio area. We will for sure be back. read more

We have always enjoyed the fish on Friday night. We had dinner there last month and it wasn't the same. The place didn't smell good, the tables were dirty. If you touched the table top your hand stuck!!! The coleslaw had no flavor. When my husband mentions our concerns to the owner, he just shrugged his shoulders as if to say "if you don't like it, don't come back". That's exactly what we'll do! read more

Stopped by for lunch while driving around house hunting after seeing the reviews and menu. I got the Mexican stir-fry, which turned out to be tender, delicious steak with a wide variety of fresh vegetables. My husband got the Hunter's Choice. It was extremely tender and the hints of chili in the seasoning made it more than great. We also got the queso, which was hot, cheesy, creamy and delicious. The chips were light and very crispy, making it a perfect compliment to the queso. The onion rings were hand breaded and huge.. huge. All while having a great flavor. The restaurant was very clean the team very courteous. We'll be moving to the area in a month or so and will definitely be back here to try more of the menu. read more

My friend and I try a new restaurant every month that is not in San Antonio. Last week we tried Cowboy's. It did not disappoint!! I had the sour cream chicken enchiladas. These enchiladas were well stuffed and I could have done well to order the senior plate with just the one. The rice was also very good. My friend got the senior seafood plate that comes with 3 pieces of fish and fries. She had the grilled catfish and liked it very much. I took a pepper steak and baked potato home for my husband. The pepper steak was obviously homemade and he said it and the potato were excellent! The reason I mention the baked potato because I read a review that someone said the baked potatoes are boiled and the chicken fried steaks are from frozen. I asked about that and a gentleman at another table interrupted the waitress and told me that was not true. He was eating a chicken fried steak and baked potato. The meat is cut every morning and tenderized. This restaurant does not disappoint!! Great service and great food!! read more

So, for what we had I'd say this place was pretty good. We each had the cheese enchilada plate with a crispy taco which I believe was called the #2 plate. We sat in the back room which looked like it was meant to be a small dance hall that was added on to the place. So, while I haven't tried a lot of stuff off the menu what we did try was really good. I will say this though, if you're from San Antonio (like me) I think it's customary to get tortillas with your meal, they don't do that here, so make sure and ask for them when you place your order. After a morning of yard sales and flea markets and no breakfast. Both me and my wife were starving. We decided to give Cowboys a try. Let me tell you, what a wonderful surprise once inside. The decor is so inviting. Lisa and Danielle were so delightful. They made us feel very welcome. The menu has something for everyone, Mexican food, steaks, and the best catfish ever!!!! We drove in from Neals Lodges in Concan for dinner, the steak house we were going to was closed, Cowboys is just across the railroad tracks so we took a chance. We walked in and sat at a table right away. We all ordered sweet tea and it was fresh and delicious. Their menu is a mix of country and Mexican food. First appetizer, chips with salsa and queso. The chips were super crispy and warm, the salsa and queso paired well. Main courses were chicken fried steak, green beans, mashed potatoes and side salad; catfish (fried) and shrimp (grilled) basket with fries; and chicken fajita supreme nachos. Nothing disappointed! I will tell you we live in Houston, I've had my fair share of chicken fried steak, I would put Cowboys chicken fried steak up against my favorite local any day! Thick cut of meat and not too much breading, not over seasoned, just perfection! The green beans were like a stewed green bean, with tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions, already seasoned to perfection! Mashed potatoes were buttery and delicious. The grilled shrimp was seasoned well and also very tasty, along with the fried catfish. The fries seemed homemade, long cut, also seasoned well. The nachos..... lord have mercy! Chips piled high with beans, cheese, jalapeños, lettuce, tomatoes, fajita chicken, and a big scoop of guacamole... there are no words! I forgot to mention the salad, they have what we refer to as "the good ranch"! If you are in the area, it is a hole in the wall but not somewhere you pass up!
