Tex weather permitting lol) In a courtyard with lovely fragrant sycamore trees. We started with the sampler platter. YES!! So good. Save the dipping sauces for your main course. Then we moved on to the main dishes. Whiskey burger was amazing !!! Onion rings were just so crispy and perfect. Country fried steak is delicious with the fanciest plating ever. We stopped at The Local Fix after church on Sunday over Labor Day weekend after seeing the numerous positive reviews. It wasn't particularly busy when we arrived, and we were seated quickly. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a cool, relaxed vibe that immediately made a good first impression. For breakfast, I ordered the eggs Benedict, my wife chose a vegetarian scrambled egg dish, our kids split pancakes, and my oldest son ordered the steak and eggs. We also added two sides of sausage patties. Unfortunately, the kitchen was very slow considering the restaurant wasn't especially busy. Service also wasn't particularly attentive during the wait, and we were left wanting drink refills for quite a while. Once the food arrived, there were some definite highlights. My eggs Benedict were good, with perfectly runny yolks. My wife enjoyed her entrée, and the kids liked the pancakes. The standout was actually my son's steak. The ribeye served over potatoes was very good, perfectly cooked, and had excellent flavor. Unfortunately, the scrambled eggs alongside it weren't nearly as successful. They came out more like a uniform yellow mass rather than the light, fluffy scrambled eggs you'd expect. The sausage was another example of the inconsistent execution. We ordered two sides: one was noticeably overcooked while the other seemed slightly undercooked. Overall, The Local Fix has a great atmosphere and the kitchen is clearly capable of putting out some very good food--the ribeye in particular was impressive. Our experience was just inconsistent. Better attention to cooking consistency, faster kitchen times, and more attentive service would have made this a much stronger meal. Super cute, reminded me of my home city Austin. However, although we were seated so quickly, it took the waitress a good 25 minutes to get us-1 coffee, 1 orange juice, a muffin and a yogurt parfait that were already ready at the counter. They had tables to eat there but they also had a counter if you were just grabbing and going. I really wanted to like The Local Fix, but this was honestly one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. The food was terrible from start to finish. The rice was crunchy, the lettuce was brown, the tomatoes tasted old, and the chicken had this strange mustard flavor that completely ruined the dish. The bread was dry, the tortillas were practically raw, and the "quesadillas" weren't even quesadillas. The only good thing on my plate were the beans, and that's saying a lot. On top of that, there are no vegan options, even though Yelp claimed they did. I asked for vegetable fajitas, and they looked at me like I had two heads, like it was the weirdest request they'd ever heard. They definitely do NOT have vegetarian or vegan options, and they made no effort to accommodate any dietary needs. The asparagus and broccolini came out raw with zero seasoning. Nothing about our meal was enjoyable. If you want actual Mexican food, you're better off going to Taco Bell at this point. It was a bit windy and too warm to enjoy the nice patio with tables and large umbrellas shading the space- maybe next time. Staff might need a bit more training on the menu options- drink list as well as food options. With that said, staff was helpful in finding answers to our questions. A bread basket with infused butter was an unexpected treat- butter was a bit chilly and slow to melt in order to infuse into the delicious bread. We ordered shareables (didn't share!) potato skins and calamari- breaded with cornmeal, both delicious options (lots of marinara). Additionally ordered sides of honey roasted potatoes that were actually cubed hash browns with onion and peppers - a bit of a disappointment, yet tasty when some of the infused butter from the bread basket was added and mixed in- and the honey rainbow carrots, which were perfectly cooked and a delicious combination of sweet with the savoriness of the carrots. I wanted to try a local spot in Uvalde and The Local Fix was at the top of that list. I didn't get to experience the ambiance or the service because I only Doordashed the food to my AirBnB. I was impressed by how quickly they completed the order to be picked up. I ordered: - The Tailspin ($9.50) - Breakfast Taco with Chorizo ($3) The Tailspin was so good. It is a Breakfast Wrap with Eggs, Potatoes, Bacon, Chorizo, and Shredded Cheese. The tortilla tasted fresh and the combination of the bacon and chorizo was so satisfying. The best part is also the runny yolk from the egg as you take each bite. It becomes even more filling with the potatoes. For under $10, this was a great pick. The Breakfast Taco with Chorizo was an okay choice. The combination of the egg and Chorizo is always a classic, but for some reason the tortilla for this was a bit hard and tougher to each compared to the Tailspin. The Chorizo scramble was tasty though especially when adding the salsa that came with the Tailspin. I had a regular Americano and my wife had her decaf Americano. My Americano was acceptable but not as flavorful as before. My wife's decaf Americano was flavorless and looked like dirty water. Wonderful little find! Was traveling towards San Antonio w a colleague of mine and he suggested this place since there's a charging station for his Tesla. Definitely did not disappoint. Perfect little rest stop before your long road trip. Located about 11miles from the border patrol check point near Uvlade, it is right off the branching of a split lane street on 90 fwy. Parking is easy since there're 5 spots right in front of the store including the charging space, plus a small parking lot next to the store. It seats about 29 people max, with very hip and modern interior decor. Great ambience. Initially ordered the oatmeal and eggs, which were very good. The oatmeal came with fresh apples, chopped almond & nuts, local honey, simply hearty. Also tried the honey bear (w blueberries), honey hulk (w spinach) smoothies and omelettes. Amazing drinks. Healthy & very filling. Staff is very friendly and accommodating, adding to an even better experience. Will definitely come by again when traveling to San Antonio. The wait was awhile, we came at an off time 3pm and there was only one server. I have been wanting to come in for awhile and finally had the chance. I had looked up menu items before arriving making sure there was something for everyone. We were given dinner menus which did not accommodate for my kids whatsoever. The coffee was good my husbands burger was delicious my chicken Caesar salad was good but the hot whole chicken was served on top of my salad making it soggy and not very appetizing. I think if they served it on a plate and not a bowl so the two could stay separate would be much better. They made up for not allowing my kids to have just steak and fries (which I had seen online) by giving us a dessert. However they did not tell us they could not serve us the steak and fries until they brought the food out giving me no time to order my kids anything else.
