We were there on 10/22/2025 for lunch. There were three of us and we sat outside. The service was extremely slow - there was a short wait to get our drink orders which wasn't a big deal. But once we ordered, it took 45 minutes to get our food....literally. I had to go inside and ask about it. When I did, I approached the register where a man with red hair and a beard was doing something. He saw me and lifted a finger and said that he would be with me in a minute. So I stood there for about 5 minutes with zero further response. I spotted our waitress and asked her about the food - she said that each order was made to order. But we ordered soup, a grilled cheese sandwich and a grilled shrimp basket which shouldn't have taken 45 minutes. Finding decent food in Uvalde is a challenge, and the appearance of this place got my hopes up. I waited over 30 minutes for my to-go order. The potato wedges were under cooked and not seasoned at all, literally not even salt. The "aioli" served with them is just mayonnaise, no other flavors at all. My wife and I were fans of the previous location, so we decided to stop at the new spot. I will say our expectations were blown out of the water. I got the steak and eggs and my wife got the omelette burrito. The staff was helpful and attended to our needs. They pride themselves in cleanliness and everything looked nice. The outside and inside are very pleasing to the eye and the music was a good mix. The outside has plenty of shade provided by canopies. We decided to eat outside to watch the football game. I got a michelada while my wife got a mimosa. The michelada mix was delicious and my wife enjoyed her mimosa. It's a great place to sit and enjoy some time on a date night or with friends and family. I'm from San Antonio and only came to Uvalde to bring a plushie to the children killed at Robb Elementary. I specifically went here because i need the Tesla destination charger that was just outside. Food: 5 Coffee: 5 Ambience: 5 Service: 3 I enjoyed the place but service was rather spotty. I initially ordered over medium eggs in a croissant sandwich with no meat (no sausage or ham). The sandwich was delivered with scrambled eggs and with sausage. I told the server so. He apologized and offered to replace the sandwich. I was starving and just said it was ok, but that if after removing the sausage I could taste even a bit of the sausage, I might gag. I was fine. I knew charging my car would take a long time so I ordered a caramel latte and a red velvet cupcake. After waiting half an hour, I went to the counter and advised a young lady - who may be the daughter of the older lady - that the gentleman server may have forgotten my coffee and cupcake. She looked up the computer and my order was there. She said she was gonna prepare my order straight away. The coffee came soon enough. But no cupcake. After 20 minutes, I went to the young lady and asked if she forgot my cupcake. She apologized and brought it eventually. Glad there's finally a place between SA and Eagle Pass where one can stop for some decent caffeine that's not gas station Java. The place is nice, small and chill. They have a limited menu of eats (which I haven't tried). They also have a limited selection of beers (domestic plus a couple of IPA's, ciders, and heffes). The place is never empty and you always see people enjoying their coffee, food or pastries. For me, coffee needed a bit more umpf. Maybe they used a bit too much milk the times I've gone or maybe it was the barista or maybe the beans. I just know that the last time I went, I also ordered a separate espresso shot on the side. While definitely espresso-y, it just didn't seem espresso-y enough. IDK, I need someone else's opinion but for my taste, coffee, like with the Tylenol, while they all work, I need mine to be cold & flu severe strength. It was unfortunate that passing through town, I selected a place to stop that has excellent reviews. On walking in, we weren't greeted, so a customer waiting for her order told us to sit. We did - after 15 minutes waiting, still no service. I went up to the counter to look for a menu, and when my husband asked about ordering, one of the two employees told us to sit and someone would be with us. We chose to leave. Wish I could add a stellar review, but this place gets a bad review for service. After trying the coffee at the local convenience stores and restaurants I found this little gem. You can get a latte, cappuccino or other specialty coffees. I'm sure you're familiar with Johnny Smith, the protagonist from Stephen King's "The Dead Zone" portrayed famously by the inimitable Christopher Walken. Whereas Johnny could touch someone's hand and "see" in his mind's eye a potentially life-threatening event in that person's immediate future, my psychic "gift" is much more mundane. In my case, whenever my foot touches the floor of a crappy restaurant, I become immediately overwhelmed by preternatural mental images of the gastronomic atrocities to follow. As my dad and I entered The Local Fix on a recent afternoon, my body became rigid as flashes of culinary abominations appeared in my head. To the bemusement of all around me, I yelled out, "Here...today...we will be served watery queso, a mushy, flavorless burger, and stale potato chips...but it's not too late! We can leave! We can...survive! Go! Go!!" Alas, my dad did not heed my warning and I was too psychically fatigued (and hungry) to do anything but sit down. Big mistake. I roll my eyes whenever Yelpers complain about wait times, as the maundering diatribe invariably reads thusly: "We proceeded to wait [x] minutes for our food while the waitress proceeded to chat with her friends and then I proceeded to ask for the manager, who then proceeded to apologize, and then I proceeded to wait another [x] minutes!! Hands down worst experience ever! I'd give zero stars if I could!!1" In this case, however, I must submit to cliche and note the excessive wait times my father and I endured. We waited at least ten minutes for a waitress to acknowledge our presence, at least five minutes before she returned to take our order, and approximately twenty minutes for our appetizer to arrive. The exiguous dining area (twenty tables, half of which were marked off due to COVID-19 spacing requirements) was teeming with waitstaff, so the service should have been prompt. When our appetizer of queso arrived, I knew my vision had been accurate. The queso swished around the bowl like dirty dish water, the first of many signs of an incompetent kitchen staff. Queso should be smooth and velvety, not thin and watery. Even the grimiest, cockroach-infested taqueria in Southside San Antonio could execute a simple bowl of queso. Hell, even *I* (winner of the prestigious Little Lord Fauntleroy lookalike contest) could plop a brick of Velveeta in the microwave and produce something more authentically Mexican than this swill. To add insult to injury, the accompanying tortilla chips were cold, stale, and unseasoned. The "Wrangler" burger I received was a far cry from the menu's description of a patty piled high with a fried egg, bacon, cheddar, veggies, and mustard on toasted jalapeno bun. The beef had the textural appeal of a microwaved Boca patty, the bacon was thin and flaccid, and the mustard and fried egg were conspicuously absent. The spongy bun bore no traces of jalapeno and turned to mush the moment I attempted to pick up the burger. The lettuce was fresh (five stars--whoo-whoo!), but the tomatoes were pale and mealy. Even the side of homemade potato chips -- surely an easy dish to execute -- was an abject failure; like the tortilla chips that accompanied the queso, these were cold, stale, and unseasoned. To the manager's credit, she apologized for the poor experience and comped the queso, but that does not excuse the incompetence we observed throughout the entire meal. The final indignity: the cash register was out of paper, so I had to pay for the meal sans receipt. If you must dine in Uvalde, Texas (not exactly the culinary epicenter of Texas, I assure you), then stick with fast food. Better yet, buy a $1 frozen cheeseburger from the local Family Dollar and cook it on your car's radiator. I guarantee it would be more palatable than anything you could order from The Local Fix. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to work on my Christopher Walken impression. read more

Let's start with the drinks. We had ordered a 20oz caramel macchiato with almond milk & a 16oz caramel latte with almond milk. Both were supposed to be hot. When I asked what temperature they steam the milk to, they said they didn't really know; that they just steam it until it's hot. A milk thermometer is $1.95 pretty much anywhere. Just buy one and save yourself some upset customers. And I looked at the steaming wands and they were completely covered in milk. Just a nightmare waiting for the health inspector to show up. So we get the drinks and they are completely wrong. We received a 20oz caramel latte (hot) and an iced 16oz caramel macchiato. The caramel macchiato was straight up liquid sugar. It was barely drinkable. And it was supposed to be hot. And then the blueberry muffin we got tasted old. Moving on, the Tailspin that we got was decent, but hardly anything to write home about. The wrap was dry and the chorizo wasn't great. I get it that coronavirus is waging its own war on our world, but you can at least make drinks and food halfway consumable and appealing to the customer. Update From my boyfriend: Literally can't get a decent drink from here. Ordered an iced caramel coffee and received just a regular coffee. No caramel. Went back in and told them there was no caramel and the girl put like 5-6 pumps of caramel in and now it's just like straight caramel. Went in a couple days ago and asked for the same drink, but received a medium when I asked for a large and there was no caramel then either. Three young gals ran the shop with excellence, poise and a few giggles.
