Los Alamos is the best TexMex restaurant in Uvalde hands down. If you're in the area and you're hungry, stop in...but make sure they're open because they have odd hours and seem to close at 3pm on weekday. Confirmed with some dude that works there: their hours are Mon-Sat 6am-3pm. I stayed in Uvalde for business for 2 weeks. We made it a point to stop in for lunch at Los Alamos whenever possible because the food is just hat good. The enchilada plate is prolly the best enchiladas I've had outside of San Antonio. They're legit. I also tried their burger---it's a burger--nothing to write home about but good nevertheless. The waitstaff if mostly friendly but if you come in at like 2:45 when they're about to close, they'll be slightly less accommodating (understandably). For example, our waitress was trying to get us out the other day and didn't serve us our customary chips and salsa. Nothing major...just the little things. Anyway, there's a couple of other TexMex restaurants in the town that are decent, but I'm over the opinion that Los Alamos is the best of the group along the highway 90 corridor that cuts through the city. The breakfast tacos are enormous and fresh as can be. This place is comfortable and roomy with good parking. Highly recommend and will be back. Clean restrooms and friendly staff... looks like a fave with locals :) The hours are for breakfast and lunch at this location and there's another place run by the same family that's open for dinner, Julio's. read more

This is not gourmet mexican food, but probably comparable to what your next door neighbor might make on a weeknight. There were 6 occupied tables when we came in and 2 waitresses but it took so long for them to acknowledge our presence that we nearly left. Once she took our orders, the food came quickly, but tea refills did not happen. The chips are thick and a little greasy, but ok. The salsa is mild. I liked the salsa, but the portion of salsa was so small, I ran out. The guacamole was the best part. Very creamy. The cheese enchiladas needed more cheese inside. Otherwise they were tasty. We rate the cheese enchiladas at average. The beef chalupa had a generous amount of beef, but not much seasoning. They are stingy with the tomatoes. The place is clean and food is good for the price. Whenever we decide to take a trip to Uvalde, this is the place we usually go. :) The owner and his son are nice, and the food is AMAZING! Last time I went, I got the quesadillas, and they were perfect. Everything was done just right. The tortilla had a light crisp to it, but it wasn't stale. I would definitely recommend this, for anyone who would like to try Los Alamos. And then yesterday, I tried the nachos. They were quite good too- The chips are always homemade, they use real cheese, and they put plenty of guacamole on each nacho (I personally LOVE guacamole. Though if you're not a big fan of it, you can always ask them to leave it out). If you're looking for Mexican food in Uvalde, then this is the place I'd recommend. read more

In complete fairness the food is good. But it is very expensive for a hole in the wall and service is extremely slow. You will wait 45-60 minutes for you food to come out. In the meantime, you need to yell for a waitress if you want a refill or anything else because they do not check on you. I was disappointed with the breakfast quality & value. All I can say is that my meal cost more than average for breakfast & it wasn't that good! Why charge $2 for an added very small portion of potatoes?! Maybe I'm being too critical because of the many places I've dined?? Me and my wife got there 7 minutes after breakfast ended. We ordered a soda. After deciding we were in the mood for breakfast we kindly let them know that we were going to go because we were in the mood for breakfast. Before we got out the door there was 3 ladies freaking out because I hadn't paid for the soda my wife hadn't even touched. I would have gladly came came another time but instead they wanted their 2 bucks. I guess they're desperate, we won't be coming back. I guess losing a repeat customer is worth their 2 dollars. Just don't order your steak medium. The cook doesn't seem to know the difference in that and well done! After the steak came out and I let the server know, he simply offered an apology. Did not offer to re-make the food correctly or take anything off my bill. I had to ask for a discount at the cashier and after much consideration they finally deducted a whopping $2 off! read more

I called ahead of time to ask at what time they stop serving breakfast, they said today labor day...all day. I come with a group of about 15 people and I am the only one that orders breakfast and I am told breakfast stopped at noon, it was 12:15. I told the waitress and the owner about my call and he didn't care. Do NOT believe these people if you call ahead for anything. I didn't order anything.
