I'm shocked I have not rated this place sooner because I literally live 35 minutes away yet every time I'm in Uvalde we eat here. The outside is deceiving because it looks deceptive but it's a clean beautiful decor inside. Always hopping with great service. Now for the food. I think it has the best variety, value and great tasting food in Uvalde. There is something for everyone. Our favorites are the Monday green chili enchiladas. I've eaten hundreds of green enchiladas over the past 50 years. These are the BEST! Other favorites are stuffed pepper steak which we get the home fries ( delicious) with the small upcharge of queso . This also comes with a side salad to start. Again- one of the best we have ever had. The description of Julio's says barbecue which we only had once and it was great on the tacos. I've never had their breakfast tacos but the drive thru is always busy with the take out tacos. The sandwhiches, chicken fried chicken and big salads are great too because the salad dressings taste home made. The only thing I had that was basic was the cheese enchiladas but everything is usually great. Great service, great food, great variety and great prices. read more

Their barbacoa by the pound is amazing! Not too fatty but not too lean. The fresh corn tortillas miiiiiiight be better than La Reina!

Service is quick and fast which is a huge plus for the area. I get tacos in the AM for my kids and I sneak in a couple every once in a while for myself. The tortilla is too thick for my liking but the fillings are on point. Haven't tried lunch or dinner. read more

Arrived at Julio's Mexican Grill, 5801 S Getty St., Uvalde, Texas 78801, 1-830/594-2099, early morning for breakfast on 9-22-2020. There were several cars in this parking lot, usually an indication that this place might have a good menu. When we went in we noticed the place had many customers. There was only one waitress (Ashley) that morning and she was very efficient and was able to provide excellent customer service to all the customers. She was at every table serving the breakfast plates and pouring coffee. There had to be 20-25 customers there and she never missed a beat. I was impressed! I ordered one Chorizo and egg taco and it was huge with plenty of eggs and chorizo. It was very good! I also did something I've never done before at a Mexican Restaurant, I ordered coffee. Every Mexican restaurant I've ever been to has exceptionally lousy coffee. I was pleasantly surprised as the coffee was great! I queried my table mates and they agreed the coffee was very good! Great place you all might want to try. My qualifications as an Expert and Experienced Food and Service Critic; I have a BS in Management and have been trained in two Culinary Schools, to include on the job training at other venues. I've managed full service as well as fast food restaurants and have had my own successful Catering business. As a Culinary Trainer, I have trained personnel on how to provide superb cuisine and expert customer service. At the age of 73, I am now retired and enjoy being on the other side of the Apron. read more

The best Tampiqueñia I've ever had. They use a real steak! Lots of food. My wife had the pollo con queso. Very unique. She loved it. The staff is friendly and do a good job. They now have a buffet. Great place. read more

We have been going to Julio's for as long as I can remember! Their breakfast tacos are always tasty and made fresh. The owners take so much pride in good service and fresh food and it shows! Some of my favorite items are the bean and cheese tacos, Migas, and chorizo and egg for breakfast. And for lunch and dinner I LOVE their cheese enchiladas, chicken fried chicken, Portuguese tortillas, or fajitas! You can't go wrong with Julios no matter what you get. Very good food! I ordered a chicken sandwich and it was HUGE! And delicious and fresh! Very good place to eat. The staff was friendly and the have monster energy drinks! Which was a huge plus because i really enjoy energy drinks with my meal. read more

Holy Crap. Where is there to start with Julio's? I grew up in Uvalde, and we've always had great Mexican food. In my opinion, Julios just raised the bar. Julio is the son of the owners of Los Alamos, which is another good local restaraunt, so he has worked in the business a while. The enchiladas are the best i've ever had. Occasionally there is a weak batch that doesn't hit the level they are capable of, but it's never bad. I haven't lived in Uvalde for about 6 years, and I am always craving Julios. Whenever I visit, it is not uncommon to visit anywhere from 3-6 times during the week stay. Aside from the mexican food, they have an excellent burger and great bar-b-q. I haven't heard of anything being bad. The decor is a little weak - yellow walls with a random assortment of framed paintings and such, but not much different from any Uvalde restaraunt. I personally like the vibe, i feel like they aren't trying to over compensate. read more

This was my second visit to Julio's & I was disappointed to see that the salad bar was removed. I wanted yo try another menu item, so I ordered a combination plate the had one enchilada, a portion of carne guisada, charro beans & rice. The enchilada was good, but needed more chicken. The carne guisada had more sauce than meat, but had a good taste & the 3 small chunks of meat served was lean. The charro beans were good & flavorful, but the container it was served in was too shallow & small. In fact, the beans had more bacon than beans! Lol. I am not a big eater & don't like big portions, but I felt my serving size over all was inadequate. One thing that is very good here are the home made desserts. I've heard the burgers & hand battered onion rings are good here. I might try it next time? read more

Very good. The picadillo was excellent (after I removed the fresh tomato and jalapeno) and the beef fajitas had a great flavor. The only let down was that they do not have the glass Mexican Cokes like other traditional Mexican restaurants. read more

Can't complain! Stopped here for lunch while we had our oil changed next door. The waitress was friendly, and we had time to take in the rustic cowboy decor before our orders came out less than 10 minutes later. My California Turkey Club sandwich was a very tasty option, heathy and filling, without making one overly stuffed. My boyfriend said his taco salad was kind of on the small side and a little bland, but that the salsa made up for it. Throughout the meal, we continuously had our drinks topped off (lots of coffee refills!), and we both left totally satisfied with the great service, and good meal. read more

Me and my husband and in-laws had dinner here this week. The food was good and the waitstaff was very nice. We ordered the combo fajitas and there was quite a bit of meat. More than enough for me and my husband. When our food was delivered to the table she only brought flour tortillas so I requested corn as well. We were halfway through eating before I received my tortillas and the restaurant was not very busy at all. The flour and corn tortillas were very good though. My sister-in-law ordered cheese enchiladas that were covered in queso sauce. They were kind of disappointing. The cheese on the inside of the enchiladas was not even melted. We also had to pay for our chips and salsa. Usually at Mexican food restaurants in Texas they are free so that was a little disappointing as well. Highly disappointed with the food here. Ordered two bbq sandwiches (one with fries, one with onion rings) and an order of nachos. There was 7 chips in the nachos order. It was mostly just melted cheese. The onion rings were more batter than paper thin onion. Will not be returning. For $30, this was pretty terrible. read more

Comfortable , clean setting. Service was good. Chips and salsa were decent. My friend got the chicken Fajitas and I got cheese enchiladas - both of our entrees were extremely bland/tasteless. The irony of that is that apparently there was a tremendous amount of salt put into our meals - but we didn't realize it until about 2 hours later when our hands and swelled up from all the sodium. A co-worker that I was dining with that day brought Julio's leftovers to my house for the pooch as the small portion he was able to choke down was causing him great abdominal distress. I suggested he try baking soda and water, and three rolaids but the malicious infirmity in his solar plexus persisted. Mind you, my esteemed colleague was born here and has the constitution of a Sasquatch. The 2000 calorie a day eating behemoth canine ran away faster than if I had the Veterinarian with me and the bathtub was running. And this mutt will eat out of the kitty litter box! Wow!!! This is exactly what we were looking for-couldn't decide between steak, BBQ and Mexican. Score! All three! BBQ sauce is homemade and yummmm... Brisket tender. Our family came here because we had read some good reviews. We had been driving for three hours and we were hungry which we'd probably be very happy with anything. However, I left just as hungry because my brisket dinner was very disappointing. The potato salad was probably store brought, my slice of bread was dry and thin & the actual brisket was very difficult to chew. My children had kid's meals and I didn't expect them to be spectacular but the chicken strip meal was like micro waved rubber. I hate complaining about food but our entire bill was over $50 for two adults and two children & it just didn't match the food quality. read more

I ordered a Mexican plate from there once and got mystery meat inside my enchiladas. The best way to explain it was it had the texture of potted meat with chili seasonings. It wasn't very good at all. The carne guisada was mushy with a bland taste to it. The side of rice was small as usual and hard. Beans were also small in portion and so so in taste. Nothing to brag about. Price at this restaurant is high consider the quality and small portions. This restaurant is really no different to the restaurant his brother runs across town Los Alamos. read more

We love to try salsa and chips every we go and this is the best!! The service was friendly and helpful. The fajitas were so moist, tender and full of flavor. We were truly impressed with this place in Uvalde. I eat here about twice a month and I think the food is wonderful! The service is always very personable and friendly and the prices are reasonable. I have had numerous different items off the list from chicken fajita tacos, crispy tacos, enchiladas, brisket tacos, Portuguese salad and even the hamburger. All were excellent. Hunting season gets very busy and you can expect a wait. The one time I received less than excellent food they were apparently short a cook and had every seat in the place full. Since then they have expanded and updated the decor. My only suggestion would be an update to the restrooms and parking lot. I've lived in Uvalde for approximately two years and have tried various restaurant's here and this is one that has always kept me coming back with delicious food. read more
