Just stopped by here for the first time , really enjoyed the ambiance of little small town bar b Q restaurant. The service was really good and quick . The prices were spot on not to expensive and won't break the wallet like other bar b q spots . The food was good , brisket could of been a little more juicer but still good . My Sausage Wrap was perfectly smoked, not spicy (so I could taste the smoky goodness), and was "wrapped" in a slice of white bread. The others all decided on Brisket and the Sandwiches were moist, smokey, tender, and oh so delicious. This place friggin blows. I dont mess around with my BBQ. I had the option to eat at either Rudys or here, I shouldve went to McDonalds AND then go to Rudys. I had the 2 meat plate w/ribs (came with Pinto beans and potato salad). The portion of the meats were stingy. My total came out to like $25. They had barely any sauces on the meats, and whatever sauce that was already on it was just flavorless. The ribs were the only "good" thing about my plate. It was chewy...thats my only positive feedback. The flavor of my potato salad was bland and it just didnt taste fresh at all. For the pinto beans, it just tastes like they opened a can of beans and dropped it on my plate. Nothing original or unique about this place. Do NOT let the 4 stars fool you. Nice location and it feels very Texas but the food lacks any smoke flavor for some reason. I didn't see the smoker so I don't know what was being used. We had the sausage wrap (good), and two brisket sandwiches along with some ribs. The ribs were very good and perfectly cooked. The brisket was the real disappointment. This place is amazing! I get to Uvalde a few times a year, and this place is always high on my list to stop at! The brisket sandwich platter comes with two sides + drink and is reasonably priced. What I love about the meat is that it is never dry, always fresh and hot off the grill. If you get down to Uvalde, skip the Oasis or the Bill Millers and enjoy a real brisket place! read more

Being that we were just traveling through Uvalde, at first we drove right by and missed it. Turned around and we were very happy that we did. Arrived at 5:57, sign said they closed at 6:00, however, we were able to order and eat there. Thank you to the staff! The food was delicious! This bbq spot was recommended by some locals so I dropped in on my way through town. The server told me this place has been open since the 1960's which tells me they are doing something right, and that something is probably the beef brisket. I ordered the brisket plate with potato salad and the cole slaw. The brisket was tender, juicy and delicious. The potato salad was very sweet and very good. Cole slaw was also great. Very good chopped brisket sandwiches in town , I think! We are not from the area but it's a place my husband would go as a young kid and it's been around for many years. Easy menu, ordering was a breeze and when we got our food it was delish! We both ordered chopped brisket sandwiches with pickles and bbq sauce. Meat was so tender, full of flavor, & very fresh! Friendly staff & made you feel comfortable. We went during lunch and started to get packed but honestly the staff moves fast and they are delighted to serve you, Not like other places in town. Truly good BBQ. I went here Friday and got the rib plate (Thursday and Friday is rib days). The meal was as good as always. I think they went up on their prices, though. The two rib plates w/ a drink came out to $21; which I thought was a little excessive for lunch. That also might explain why we had the place to ourselves. And instead of putting the jars of pickled jalepeno's on each table, they keep them at the counter and charge 25cents each (rip off). Aside from the food (which is always good), the other good thing about our visit Friday is that the owner's wife wasn't working the register. She's got to be the rudest/unfriendliest person I've ever met. After we sat down, I saw that she was in the dining room on her lunch break. If she had been working the register, I'm sure I would only be giving this place 1 star instead of 3. And I'm only giving them 3 instead of 5 due to the price hike and charging for the jalepenos.
