Stopped in for lunch while driving through. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food, helping size, and kindness of the manager. My husband and I shared the chicken fried steak and both were stuffed afterward. Someone else with us had the Southwest chicken salad with homemade Jalapeño Ranch dressing and said it was "sooo good". Definitely worth a stop. Friday morning, July 31st. No leadership in the morning when the place was busy, Manager works a swing shift and does not return calls. Asked the server if I could get a single slice of French Toast as a side, server said they can do that. When we were ready to go, I couldn't get a hold of our server as she was laser focused on what she was doing as she walked by us a couple of times. I was able to get the attention of a different person and asked for the check. They don't do checks/bills. Went to pay and the bill and the cashier was busy trying to seat people, so we waited for a while. When she returned we were informed of the total due, it was higher than expected. There was a line of people waiting to be seated, so I didn't want to cause a scene. When I got my digital receipt, I saw that they charged me for a full meal and not a side slice of French Toast. I called and asked to speak to the Manager, was informed that she does not go in until 2 or so. Left my contact information, the manage did not return my call. I called back again Saturday, still no manager, I left my information again, still no call. I am surprosed that they do not offer customers a chance to see their bill before paying. Since I ended up paying for something I did not order or get, I can only wonder if this is a common issue and of a possible concern. I called again on the 5th of Aug, time will tell if I get a call back. read more

Cute place the waitress was extremely friendly and got my order right away. The food was eeehh not that great but overall an ok place. The bread was not toasted and the avocado was not smashed. Our group of 6 was there on Sunday, Nov 9, 2025. We alm ordered something different from my veggie omelette, to pancakes and other. My omelette was loaded with mushrooms, onions, peppers and other and was so filling and delicious that I could not finish it. The cafe was busy but the waitresses tending to every table were cheerful and courteous. Our waitress kept up with every table and came back to check up on us and refill our coffee several times. The customer service, the friendly and attentive waitresses and family friendly atmosphere was great and they deserve a 5-star rating and more! read more

Mill Creek has unapologetically made a revival since my last review of this place. Sugar...spice...and everything nice can be found here! Maybe Dartanian will allow for Mill Creek to return once more since Dartanian ran them out of town five years prior. Dartanian ordered the breakfast tacos and I THANKED MY LORD JESUS, COUNTED MY BLESSINGS & WENT ON MY KNEES for the good food in front of me! COVID-19 review - I actually prefer Mill Creek Cafe over the other biker branded Bent Rim Grill when visiting the Leakey area. The staffers over at BR are gruff and whiny about the tiniest bullsh*t. Recap here folks, I usually show up with 10-50 friends with me. That said, I read online that Mill Creek had changed hands. I called ahead a few days before knowing the restrictions the governor had placed on all the restaurants in Texas. I was told they were open for togo and to check out the current menu on social media. GF and I arrived just after 1. Staffers were friendly and took our order at the door. Drinks were quickly brought outside to the patio. Drinks refills were plentiful and appreciated. We weren't the only diners; families arrived ordering 5 or more entrees. Couple of motorcycle peeps too. She ordered a hamburger with fries (she liked it). I chose the club sandwich and requested soft bacon. Nice lady said she would relay that to the kitchen. If I had one of those NFL yellow flags I woulda thrown it. Ruling - You should honor a customer's request instead of grabbing the precooked stuff. I lead a car club on dozens of adventures every year. I pick a restaurant where a good meal is GUARANTEED. I'd like Mill Creek's new owners to think about this after all this virus BS blows over. Eaten here several times and have been happy with everything so far (omelets, catfish, southwest eggrolls, burgers, CFS). Food is always hot and fresh. Stopped by with my husband the day after Christmas for lunch. Both of us ordered the hamburger steak, which was very good. However, the mashed potatoes & rice were cold. We both tried the green beans and they tasted like they had just poured them out of the can and warmed them up. We let the kitchen know upon checkout (as nobody checked back in on us after our food was delivered) about the food temp. Our server did let the kitchen know, and they said somebody had turned the warmer down too low. They thanked us for letting them know, but offered no compensation. read more

Awful service. Waited 20 minutes to be waited on with hardly anyone in the place. She takes my order. I wait 20 minutes. She tells me my foods almost ready. I wait 5 more minutes. The manager walks over and tells me at 11:25 telling me that breakfast stopped at 11 sharp and they were not going to make my food. Because of their lack of service... A three is being generous. The wait staff was friendly. The food mediocre but the worst part of the experience was the large amounts of nat flies at the salad bar. I don't think our experience was the normal for this place, but we came right as they were transitioning from breakfast to lunch. Our server was very distracted and never brought half of one of our orders. We never got drink refills. The biscuits were over cooked and my sausage was really dry. My kids were not pleased with their meals either. The French toast however, was amazing! read more

Mill Creek Cafe is conveniently located between Lost Maples SP and Garner SP, and it's perfect for that between hikes meal! We came after lunch time and there was only a couple other tables occupied. They had a salad bar at the back. It only had one type of salad (lettuce with some mixed greens), but there were a variety of toppings and dressing, as well as some cut and canned fruits. They also had this tuna salad, which was amazing by the way. You can opt for unlimited salad bar for about $11, but some of the entrees also includes one trip to the salad bar. Their special on the day we came was catfish platter. Now, I'm picky with my catfish. After making sure it would be breaded with cornmeal, I decided to give it a try. The catfish came out just a tad dry but the flavors were all there. The rest of our meal was great. Service was also super friendly and fairly quick. Highly recommend! read more

Southern style buffet. This is not your open a can, dump and go type place. The food was fresh. The potatoes were real red skins and the green beans tasted home grown. The cabbage was served with bacon as it should be and the Mac and cheese reminded me of grandma. I also want to complement the use of pepper. Being from Kentucky, I know southern food and it ain't southern without pepper. Classic salad bar too. My husband and I joke that it reminds of us the 1980s, but I mean that in the best way. O! M! G! We're back home now and wish we could have another one of their INCREDIBLE BURGERS!!! We've been coming here for eight years. To be honest, last year we decided we probably wouldn't go back because it wasn't that good since the new owners. Well, we tried it again, and it was like night and day. We asked, and sure enough the original owners' daughters came back to run it. YAY!!!! Hubby LOVES the quesadillas. Breakfast is great...the hot sausage is the way to go! So I read a few reviews while visiting Leakey and Concan and Mill Creek Cafe popped up. My youngest son wanted to go have breakfast with dad this week and this place was right on the money. The pancakes were awesome. The Frio breakfast was very well prepared. You get the sense that this place is a local favorite. Very friendly local people enjoying coffee, breakfast, and conversation with friends. The staff did a great job and were also very friendly. I definitely will be coming back! read more
