The Lost Fox has a great atmosphere, and overall, the food and service were excellent. Our bartender was attentive and sociable, and most of the dishes we tried were well-executed. We ordered the Chicken Tinga fries, the BB Burger, and Chicken Wings. Everything was great with the exception of the wings. On their website, the picture makes them look really fantastic, but when ordered, that wasn't so at all. They were not broken down properly (they were served with the drumette, flat, and tip all intact), not crispy enough, and completely oversauced. All of these issues just ruined the dish . A little more attention to detail there would have made the experience perfect. That said, I'd still come back to try more of the menu, as everything else was really great. read more

Wanted a quick bite before baseball and found this little space. Walking in, the small patio is cute; they've done a good job of making a sidewalk in the city have a little charm. We decided to sit inside, since it was just a bit warm out. Got a few appetizers to share as our meal, and went with esquites corn fritters, jumbo wings, and pickled fried cauliflower. The corn fritters and cauliflower were excellent. The wings were ok. For my taste, I would have liked them a little crispy on the outside and a bit more sauce. Our server was very nice, but didn't check on us very often after our food came out. Food was also a little slow to come out, given the number of tables. They are also open for breakfast and lunch, do would love to come back to try some morning fare and some other things we saw on the menu. read more

Came here for dinner with my boyfriend- The vibe of the restaurant was very nice and there was an LGBTQ exhibit on the wall behind us which I thought was a cool addition to the space. We sat down around 7:45 and it took at least 15 minutes for a server to even acknowledge that we were there. Once the server came he put in our orders relatively quickly and was friendly, but the food ended up taking another 30 minutes to get to my boyfriend. They ended up making the wrong item for me and it took at least another 10 minutes to remake the item and get it over to us. Despite the circumstances, food was very good- my boyfriend got a Lost Fox Burger and I got the Beef-ziki burger. Both items were delicious, but ultimately not worth the time it took. After we finished, it took another 30 minutes to get the check to our table and when it finally arrived we were greeted with a 3% technology fee for using a card and had spent over $40 just for two burgers. I understand that it can be overwhelming when a lot of people are at the restaurant at a time- It seemed like a busy night and they were clearly understaffed for the amount of people there, but 30 minutes just to get the check is still a little ridiculous. Overall a cool place and a nice spot to grab a sandwich Downtown- I would just avoid going here when it gets busy. read more

Ambience: it's a cool hidden gem in Saint Paul. The front is along the light rail, and you can access the back from the alleyway. When you walk in through the back, you notice a swankier feeling restarting area and bar. Up front is a coffee bar, with a water stand, and cafe style seating. Lots of people on their laptops when I went to catch up with friends on a Saturday. Food: I ordered the Little Piggie which comes with egg, tomato, ham and bacon (opted for extra bacon instead of ham), arugula, garlic Mayo, on your choice of white, wheat, or croissant. My only gripe is the the croissant wasn't warmed up. Otherwise, it was perfect. Drink: I got a salted caramel latte w oat milk. I was impressed by how many syrup flavors they have. They have a dark roast from Mpls and a light from St. Paul. Very disappointed with our dinner at Lost Fox. We went on a Friday night, it was fairly busy, and our service was terrible. Drinks took at least 20 minutes to come out, food took forever, and then some of our orders were wrong. I ordered the "I'll be your Huckleberry" drink which had great flavor and then the rice bowl with sweet soy glaze. My entree was okay, pretty bland though. When our waitress came to bring the bills, the receipts were jumbled and incorrect. I would not recommend Lost Fox especially if you have after dinner plans. read more

Came in for a quick bite and cocktail before an event in the area. Lost Fox has a really cute ambiance and cozy vibe to it. They weren't really busy which was surprising on the weekend but I know they're also pretty knew and I'd heard about their coffee vs their dinner offerings. I had an old fashioned and house Lost Fox Burger with bacon added for my meal. The burger seemed a bit small but likely an appropriate serving size since I didn't feel overly full after consuming, but it was interesting that the bacon dominated. I got a bit of the garlic aioli that pulled through on what was otherwise a fine, but nothing surprising burger. I didn't get a ton of flavor that really stood out and based on the thickness of the patty relative the bun and bacon, it just seemed surprisingly lost. Nothing bad, just nothing to go tell anyone "you've got to try it". Fries were pretty standard as well. The old fashioned was made well and the server was super kind and attentive although it looked like she was covering the entire seating area. Maybe they recognized a slow night and sent the rest of the staff home? Overall a good experience, but sadly nothing memorable. We tried Lost Fox this winter when we were looking for a place to get appetizers and drinks before dinner. The ambiance was generally good, and the food was okay but could have been better. FOOD: We tried the fried brussel sprouts, fall hummus & baba ganoush, and corn fritters. The brussel sprouts were definitely the highlight, and were perfectly crispy and tasty. The hummus and baba ganoush were a bit underseasoned for my taste, and the veggies/pretzels served along with it could have been more interesting. The corn fritters also could have been more seasoned, and arrived to our table a little cold. The happy hour beers were well-priced though! SERVICE: Our server was very nice and helpful; the service was a little slow but it was pretty busy and there seemed to only be one server at the time, so it was understandable. We've visited Lost fox a few times over the past few months. Was there yesterday. I really love the feel and flow of their dining room and coffee bar area. I remember when it was different businesses over the past 20 years. Moved a few blocks from their establishment to St Paul in 2003. We think the Rose's have really elevated this location and a great replacement for coffee, drinkipoos or yum yums! ... since we lost the black dog coffee shop a few years ago. Sad face. Lost Fox. Friends and I stopped by for dinner to check out a new place. The ambiance when you walk sends a super calm and comfy vibe. Unlike a lot of restaurants the chairs were very comfy. Our server was kind, knowledgeable and seemed to be handling quite a few tables on her own. She did what she could to make sure our group was taken care of. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sano. I liked the overall flavor and thickness of the chicken the breading in it was the perfect amount. What really made the sandwich tasty was the combination of the ginger sesame slaw and the kimchi. I also appreciated that the bun wasn't overly large and that the toppings didn't make the bun soggy. The fries were pretty standard. I also tried a bit of a friends Brussel sprouts and the flavor of the sauce with the sprouts was pretty tasty. I'd love to check them out for their brunch and coffee menu at some point read more

I'm in a heavy chai phase right now, and Lost Fox is where I'm going to get my fix! I always get a large iced chai with oat milk which runs about $6 - definitely average price especially with oat milk substituted (otherwise a large iced chai is $5). The baristas are so friendly, they seriously are all always smiling every time I come in. I have also gotten an iced latte there but prefer their chai. They open at 8am, would love if they opened earlier! They also serve food which I haven't gotten a chance to try yet, and have a bar in the back with a happy hour. A great community spot! Lost Fox is in a huge historic space, filled with local artwork. It serves as a cafe by day and full restaurant + bar by night. I went to Lost Fox for the first time last week before we went to Glow. It was nice walking distance to CHS field so it was a great option for that. Lost Fox was busy for a Friday night when we were there but our drinks took over 25 minutes to get to the table even for a beer/cider. This was not acceptable. Our food also took awhile to come out once we ordered. I ordered a gluten free lost Fox hamburger and it was good but I didn't eat the fries because they were from a shared fryer. I got the in vino veritas cocktail that was okay, I wouldn't get it again. At the end of the night we asked for 2 bills and they completely swapped all of our food and we were late for the event we were going to. The inside of the restaurant was well decorated although it was quite loud. Service was very slow. Parking is street or ramp parking nearby so plan accordingly. read more

What a gem! I found the Lost Fox by chance, passing by the alley entrance from 5th street. I felt like it was a secret, until I realized the main entrance is just across the street from the Union Depot and Light Rail stop! Still, the service was friendly, the coffee was delicious and it is clearly a popular spot for the locals. Lots of folks working on laptops or having friendly chats. If you don't know this place is here you would miss it But that part of its charm I suppose. It's nestled at the end of lowertown, Just blocks from the Saints stadium a few steps from the light rail. It's a cute, quaint if you will coffee shop/dive bar feel. I went in on a Sunday early evening had a tasty glass of wine, an amazingly delicious homemade triple-decker club sandwich and a surprisingly great cup of chicken chili soup (excellently and perfectly seasoned*definitely not Minnesota nice spiced IYKYK). The seating arrangement was plentiful for those busy nights but also perfectly cozy for a chilly Sunday for a little solitude in public. Last but not least the playlist was beyond perfect... A mix of late '80s early '90s rock/pop classics. All of that with a reasonable price-point and pleasant service. For being my first time here I was thoroughly impressed as it hit all of the marks that one would hope when they visit a new restaurant. I will definitely be back and would recommend. The only complaint is there is no parking and I sat myself and was basically ignored for at least 10inutes while the staff visited with a regular... however when she did come by she was very Sweet knowledgeable about the menu and paid close attention. read more

Really wanted to like this place. Nice location and ambiance. This is specifically talking about lunch. Looks like it could be an OK evening cocktail place with more of a hot food menu. I got a roast beef sandwich and cappuccino. My wife got a BLT & mocha. Both sandwiches were disappointing. Meager portions on cheap store bread. My roast beef sandwich was supposed to have some blue cheese which I didn't taste until 2/3 the way through the sandwich. The BLT had just a couple slices of bacon and the toast was soggy when it came to the table. Both resembled sandwiches I have purchased at convenience stores for pure appetite appeasement. The espresso in the cappuccino was rather bitter (I used to be a barista), maybe it sat a while before making the drink. The mocha tasted like it was made with Swiss Miss or the generic blander equivalent. No particular complaints about the service, which was fine and fairly quick.
