This is my favorite New Mexican restaurant. If you like spicy...this is your place to be. If you can not handle spicy, order from the kids menu or stay home. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Mesa. It is unbelievably good. The food is delicious. The enchiladas, stuffed sopapillas, pozole. Every single thing I've tried has been incredible. This might seem like a weird thing to put in a review but their sour cream? ??? Is so good? I don't know what they put in it but I could buy a gallon of it. Their margaritas are top notch as well. We've had nothing but good service when we go. In fact, the reason I'm leaving a review finally is because I ordered delivery through an App™ because I have a friend in from out of town and she has small children, so wrangling them for a 25 minute drive after a day in the pool was not going to work. The App™ screwed up and canceled our order out of nowhere and when I called the restaurant, they were so helpful. I replaced the order and not only was it incredibly fast and fresh, the manager included a dessert for us. It was totally unexpected and just a wonderful surprise. My friend raved about the food from start to finish and demanded that we come back when she's back in town. This was sadly a huge disappointment on every level and I'm embarrassed I picked this place for date night. First of all, the service was absolutely awful. Our waitress was not friendly and she took ages to take care of us. We had to ask her twice to bring us a to-go box and we had to flag her down to order or ask for the bill. She was also extremely unfriendly and unhospitable, and acted annoyed with me. She made me feel bad for eating there. Second, the food was pretty bad. It's just not worth it. The chips and salsa they bring are not good; the chips are cold and the salsa sucks. I got the machaca beef enchilada and my fiancé got the beef enchilada. Both were drowning in spice and salt, so much so that I questioned whether there was any meat in my meal at all. We did the check-in for the cheese crisp, and it's not even crispy... it's just tortilla with melted cheese. We got sopapillas for dessert, and it looks way bigger than it actually is; the majority of it is just air, covered with a ton of sugar and whipped cream; it's worth like $2. It was so overpriced for what you actually get. We get $60 for all of this, when it should've been a third of this. read more

We were very nice giving the plate back and asked for our check, and no apology and nothing offered to make it right, didn't offer a remake of the dish or anything. Spicy! If you like spicy food, this place is for you. Not only is it spicy, it has a great fresh flavor. Both the red and green salsas were delicious, the green salsa being less spicy than the red. The staff is super friendly, so much that I felt like I was at a family reunion! It was a very lively atmosphere. They made recommendations and we decided on two beef tacos combo (not spicy at all) and the crispy beef taco and cheese enchilada with red sauce (spicy) combo. I also got a margarita. First time at Los Dos and we will be back, there are so many items I want to have that you can't do it one visit. Best seasoned Mexican food we've had ever! That is saying something, you see my wife can eat Mexican food like I can eat pizza, any time. So, we have it a lot! We have been searching for a great one here in AZ. la Ristra in Gilbert was one of our other favs and come to find out it's all in he family! I had the adovada pork ribs, they had wonderful flavor but the meat was a bit dry, not in a super negative way. Steff had the machaca pork burrito, chips and salsa were very good. Why is salsa free? The red here offers a complex flavor explosion, pushing you to the brink with spice and pulling you back with just the tiniest hint of sweetness. The green is great, also, with a spice level of approximately 8.13. (U.S. scale as calibrated under the Pepper Allocation Paradigm). I took the light rail from Tempe twice during a two-day trip since I accidentally got the green chili PLATE instead of the green chili STEW. DID NOT KNOW THEY WERE KNOWN FOR SPICY FOOD At least 4 of my hubby's coworkers recommended this place. So when we both wanted mexican food on a Friday night, we decided to give this place a go! I looked at the yelp photos and thought everything looked really good. What I didn't do was read the goddamn menu or their website because they make it pretty clear that they are known for their food being very spicy So we got our chips and salsa and both the red and green salsas were really hot but we just thought, cool spicy salsa. Again, didn't pay attention to the logo, or freaking pepper fabric on the table, but found our dishes of choice and ordered. We didn't realize that the red and green sauce they use for on the entrees is the same as the red and green salsa. We both have a pretty good spice tolerance, my husband even moreso than myself. Both of us were gasping for air trying to eat our meals . I will say that they were both extremely flavorful and very delicious, if you can tolerate the heat. Cannot express enough love for this place. Although the other locations can do an ok job of filling a craving in a pinch, there's just nothing like this location. Phenomenal service that truly makes you feel like you're part of the family. Primary warning is it's spicy, like not a little, a lot. I've taken people that said they "liked spicy" that then retracted saying they didn't like it "that spicy". But if you do like it spicy, this is that deep flavor that builds complexity to the dish. It's amazing. You can't go wrong with Adovada Ribs or the Enchiladas with Adovada, although either way I suggest getting a fried egg on top. Posole is also awesome. If I could pick this place up and move it to Goodyear I'd be eating there probably once per week, but even all the way across town we make it a point to visit. ABOUT 70% AUTHENTIC MEXICAN We visited @losdosmolinosmesa during a business trip because one of our coworkers had been before and was impressed (I'm from Mexico and always skeptical of non-Mexican people having a good impression of Mexican food). Waitress and cooks are from Mexico, so we're off to a good start. Then I look at the menu and I find "Machaca Pizza" and I'm pretty sure that I made a funny face... Anyways, I try to give them the benefit of the doubt and decide to order something authentic, so I ordered "Queso Fundido" and "Guacamole". Pretty standard stuff. The "Queso Fundido" was something I've never seen in my life, but open to try. Fried chips with american and mozzarella cheese on top were not a good sign, then the "QUESO" was really more like a FONDUE. When I asked the waitress about this, she mentioned that even herself did not know that as "Queso Fundido" where she's from, but maybe it was the way the owners knew "Queso Fundido". GUACAMOLE with AMERICAN and MOZZARELLA CHEESE on top is also NOT AUTHENTIC, but hey... you can take that off and eat the good stuff. I ordered the "Mar y Tierra" ($15.95) which was expensive for the amount of pork and shrimp included in the plate (About 3 shrimps and 3 bites of pork). Taste was decent, but the amount of food seemed not enough. It was also frustrating to find out that they only gave me 1 SINGLE TORTILLA! My Mexican HEART was SAD! Went to the Mesa one for the first time and was thoroughly impressed with the service the food and the awesome margaritas

Los Dos Molino's in Mesa really came through for my Mom's 60th wedding anniversary. She had planned months ago to have them cater but things happened and she had to cancel but Cristina from the restaurant still provided her the services that she requested at no cost to her. The family and I were so appreciative that she did this for our Mom which relieved the stress she had. The guest did give us feed back on the food and the tamales were a hit and had spice to them. Overall the food was delicious and we recommended our family and friends to visit the restaurant. This restaurant is sure a dime a dozen and you can't find places like Los Dos Molino's. read more

I'm from New Mexico so my New Mexican food expectations are super high! I got the stuffed sopapilla with beef and red chili, I liked it however the chili both red and green is super saturated with oregano which I did not like. I can't believe that literally everything on the menu is spicy but 4 or 5 items. I have never been to such a place. The sourcream tastes like blue cheese dressing. It is awful. I always enjoy this place. The green salsa with the chips is HOT and has a great flavor, too. When they say, "hot," they mean it, which can be good or bad, depending on whether that's your thing. I've had a few things on the menu over the years, but the green chili stew is my favorite. This time, I had the adovada pork shanks (it was the daily special), and it was fall-off-the-bone tender with a little bit of red chili sauce, spicy beans and rice. I put some green salsa on the rice and left sweating. It was a good day :) The place is not inexpensive, but, in my experience, it is unique in the valley and worth a visit if you like spicy Mexican food. read more

Los Dos is our favvvv! We grew up in the small town where the restaurant was invented, and since moving to the valley, it's the only place that we can still find REAL, AUTHENTIC New Mexican food! We are here at least once a week, and tonight we heard a couple try it for the first time and say the meanest thing about their meal :( I realized we have never wrote a review to balance out all the valley people bashing Los Dos for not being chipotle, Taco Bell, or some drive thru in their neighborhood that they think is "real" New Mexican food lol! So here is all the reasons we LOVE Los Dos, and maybe a few reasons why you might NOT love Los Dos: - Actual Spice!! They have everything from hatch chilis to creamy red and green chilis sauce - If you ask for a modification on your plate, they are more than happy to accommodate! But please keep in mind that it's not going to be as fluent of a meal as the way the cooks know how to do it up regularly. - The entire staff is family! And they run the joint like all waking hours ‍ so please be kind when they aren't able to take you in close to closing or before operating hours. - If you have a chance to meet the owner or chat with the staff, they are seriously so cool! They really do welcome guests as family. Our fav dishes are: Queso Fundido, The Chimichanga Dinner (shredded beef + Christmas style), The Fajitas, Tamales, and pretty much everything else on the menu! So, in short, you should try it!! Deceptive business practices... 1. I was charged $77.41 when the bill should have been approximately $34 (for two combo platters and two lemonades). The bill did seem high at the time, but as I was with company and treating, I did not want to contest it and make a scene. I did ask for a receipt--which is not itemized and proves nothing. 2. I was presented with an electronic payment device by the waitress who served me and which coerced me into paying an 18% tip. The lowest tip I could select on the screen was 18%--and it went up from there. The food was OK (the spices had more heat than flavor). It was certainly not worth what they charged me! If you decide to give them your business, make sure you ask for an itemized receipt. If only I had been misbilled, then I might accept what happened as a mistake. But the 18% tip coercion demonstrates a pattern of unfair and deceptive business practices. I hope they pull this on a county inspector and get fined. read more

I had not been to Los Dos Molinos in many years (they still had a restaurant in NYC), and it was time for my fix of New Mexican Chile. Companion and I arrived at 5:45 to an almost packed restaurant on a Tuesday night. We were seated immediately, and a bowl of beautifully thin tortilla chips was set on the table along with red and green bowls of salsa. Warning: This isn't the tame salsa you get in other places. This has character and tons of flavor along with some decent but not overbearing heat. Companion enjoyed the green salsa, but ordered a taco salad because of fear of heat. A huge taco salad with excellent guacamole and crema was brought out. For myself, I ordered the Pollo Fundido which is a huge amount of white meat chicken, wrapped in a tortilla, in a pool of green chile with rice and beans. This was the best Pollo Fundido I have ever eaten. Full of flavor, not too spicy, and a huge portion. While I did not eat the rice, the frijoles were wonderful. The meal reminded me of eating in a place in Lordsburg, New Mexico that was my previous best Pollo Fundido. In spite of the crowd, service was excellent, the food was hot, and the place was clean. 5 stars read more
