I've been wanting to try Los Dos for a while & my wife & I decided let's give it a go. Enchiladas are one of my favorite dishes so I ordered flat enchiladas with Xmas chile which means red & green chile and my wife ordered a bean tostada. My order came out & it was only green. I looked at the dish & it didn't resemble a typical flat enchilada. I tried it and the chile was bland and the tortilla had a weird texture. My wife's tostada was a soft tortilla with beans on top. A tostada is a hard shell corn tortilla with beans and lettuce and other veggies.I also ordered a soda and was never asked for a refill. Our sopapilla at the end of the meal was good. Our two meals and sopapillas came out to $41.00. read more

Some of the best NM style cuisine we have had in the Pheonix area. Red a Green sauces were on point. Next time I will need to remember to ask for "honey on the side" for the sopapllias which came drizzled but other than that were wonderful. Service was prompt and friendly. First and foremost, Los Dos Molinos was recommended to us by more than one friend. We personally are not fans, but respect the opinions of those that are. We were not aware that they are known for their spicy food either. We came here for our weekly Saturday date night in December, it is out of our way, but we were meeting friends in the area afterwards. Service was OK at best. The place wasn't too busy, and midway through our visit, associates began closing processes. The salsa was way too hot for my taste, and I absolutely LOVE spicy foods. For the first time at a Mexican restaraunt, I didn't enjoy chips and salsa. That speaks volumes, as I am usually the first to ask for a second round. The Mango margarita was good, but it ALSO came on the spicy side, which was disappointing with the spice overload, I did not finish drinking it. My husband and I usually order the same meals, cheese enchilada, beef taco, rice and beans, everywhere we go with Mexican food, unless we feel like switching it up. These rice and beans were spicy too, the enchilada was spicy, the taco was spicy. I love smothering everything in salsa, but knowing those were spicy too, I didn't. I couldn't finish my meal. There was just TOO MUCH SPICE for my taste. I will mention here that I make my own salsa at home, and use Jalapeno, Serrano, and habanero peppers, so I am used to spicy food. I should have been more observant and realized that the table coverings and room decor said all I needed to know. That is 100% on me, not them. read more

If you like really spicy mediocre Mexican food give it a try. I went there with my wife and daughter this weekend. We didn't realize that the food was so spicy without even putting anything on it. They do not offer mild salsa so the chips and salsa were not an option for my wife and daughter. My daughter almost drank a pitcher of water chasing down each spicy bite to tolerate it. My wifes taco salad had what looked like rotted bits of chicken in it and was dry. My pollo fundido also was dry and the lettuce looked like they hand shredded a leaf or two of lettuce and topped it with a half of a slice of tomato. I wouldn't recommend or go back. read more

We came in with our decorations to covert the room into a casino night. The staff was amazing at helping us make sure we had everything we needed and the servers where amazing all night! 08-23-22 We noticed the menu prices were different from what we looked up online and when we asked, our server could not explain why accurately. We also asked if there was a happy hour like we had seen mentioned online, and he came up with several different excuses and times it was there and reasons why they had not updated their in-store profile. When we received our bill, there was an up charge to use your credit card which was not mentioned or identified anywhere noticeably in the store until final arrangements for the bill. My Parents have been bringing me here since before I was even born, and there is a reason why. The staff is great and the food is even better! It is a little spicy but delicious. The paintings on the wall add to the atmosphere and make it feel fun and welcoming. I love the green adobada enchilada dinner with blue tortilla! INCREDIBLE! I've been to a few Los Dos Molinos locations but never this one in Mesa. Its decor and style vary from it's brother & sister sites in that this is the most modestly decorated and sized spot of the 3 I know of. As soon as my man and I got here, we were welcomed to pick any table we wanted and assured chips & salsa would find their way to us. They swiftly did and we perused the menu while waiting for our drinks. I got a house margarita (medium) and my fella got a brew (also medium). Both were ENORMOUS. They describe the large size as "a fishbowl" but I bet you a fish could have lived semi-comfortably in the medium glass, too. I ordered the adovada enchilada with red sauce. My guy ordered a taco and tamale combo with rice & beans. The adovada was out-of-this-world good. Beautifully tender, juicy, and flavorful. Cooked to absolute perfection. The red sauce on top was spicy... And I was warned ahead of time (kindly so, seeing as how I'm painfully caucasian and I'm sure they don't want to see stereotype Karens actually breaking down and crying, then graduating to whinging, moaning, and complaining for spicy food being spicy). I can handle spice pretty well (for a whitey/Karen) tho. Anyway, my meal was delicious and cleared my sinuses real good. Such a happy camper. When asked about his meal, my fella said "was good" I pushed him for a bit more detail and he said "was bussin". High praise from someone completely uninterested in critiquing such lovely establishments or their food. With so many Mexican restaurants in the proximity, it is easy to overlook Los Dos Molinos- don't! While the chips were average, the green salsa was IMMACULATE and - this coming from someone who is not a fan of green salsa! The red salsa was spicy as well; cleared my sinuses! After much deliberation, I decided on the carne adovada burro, enchilada style, with the green salsa. While it was flavorful and packed a punch, I preferred the shredded beef burro my bf ordered. The rice was good but nothing special, the beans were mashed with cheese, but again, not my favorite. There were a few other things on the menu I would come back to try! Great service and delicious menu! Plenty of parking out front and easily accessible. We saw the yelp reviews and couldn't resist coming here. Upon walking in we noticed how busy it was for a Wednesday. No worries because we got a booth to comfortably sit in. We had a view to a few TVs, since a basketball game was on, making the experience more enjoyable. I poured through the bountiful menu and couldn't decide. What was easy to order was a house margarita that was on sale. It was a jumbo and a good size margarita. A little on the sweet side for me but none the less, Tequila can't go wrong. I settled on the Shrimp Veracruz that was cooked on top of rice. Shrimp was cooked perfectly, not to tough or dry. The rice was sweet and savory that was cooked with a red sauce. They topped with a little cheese. I thought it was a little bland but shrimp is hard to kick up notch anyways. The portion was also less than stellar. The beans were my favorite. Favorite dish in Phoenix is their Adovado ribs. The staff is pleasant and attentive and I love the patio area, just wish it had a view of the mountain. The decor is eclectic, but back to the food. Start with free chips (always warm and fresh) and bomb red salsa. The red is much spicier than the green and I shovel on as much as the chip will hold. The rice that comes with the meal is the only part of the meal I could do without. The beans, however, are amazing and spicy like everything else. Now the trick with the ribs is to just pull off the most tender meat you've ever had, and mix it with the rice and beans and sauce that comes generously with the ribs. The sauce might be the best part of the meal and I soak the rib meat and beans in it. They also give you a smaller, thicker tortilla that I like to dip in the rib sauce. Top it off with super cold beer! WINNER!!! read more

Ordered 2 dozen "chicken" tamales to go because I used to love tamales from here. Not only have prices gone way up but quality has gone way down, what a great trade off. These tamales were frozen in blocks of ice with what appeared to be with normal filling but as soon as they were heated up they shrunk to show almost nothing but corn and green Chile. Los Dos Molinos makes pretty good Mexican food if you like spicy. I mean REALLY spicy. Spicy to just burn and burn. I recently had dinner at Los Dos. Because the salsa with the chips was spicy enough to burn my mouth, I opted for the Garlic Shrimp, which wasn't spicy at all. The shrimp were OK, but only five-six little bugs and not particularly filling. The big mugs of beer were nice, but overall, this place struck me as too expensive for what you get. The quality was OK, but I have had better and cheaper. I will probably come back because the friendly staff are nice and some friends just seem to love the place. It's OK. Los Dos Molinos is a gem. It is a perfect example of an unassuming building where the restaurant is unbelievably good. We had the empanadas which had their delicious pork tucked into a wonderful pastry. We all wanted more. Then table side guacamole was prepared quickly and with great expertise. The avocado was perfect, green, ripe but not overly ripe. Our main courses continued to exceed all reasonable expectations. The food was fresh, authentic, and had quality ingredients.
