The place was clean and bright, the service was ok...felt a little rushed...and the food was pretty nice. Their 1/2 order of queso is a silly little thing...don't bother with it. Food was just ok. Charged for extra salsa when only gave 1 for 4 people. Service was very slow. The other couple ask for 1 extra sour cream, didn't bring out until meal was finished then still charged for it. Bill was all messed up. No flavor in the beef. Would not recommend. read more

As usual friendly staff and great food! Have to try the Queso Fundito , creamy white cheese with spicy chorizo! Shredded beef and bean nachos, burritos (one with shredded beef the other with pork). Delish! They have the best pulled pork here. Ask for your taco, burrito, enchiladas..... any way you want. They are great about being flexible. I like pork in my of my items either alone or in combination with another meat. Love it when a Mexican restaurant allows me to be creative with their many delicious items. The most authentic Mexican food in the area. This has become our "go to" place. Everything is good, so I won't push any items, but my wife loves the Carnitas. The portions are large enough to share, or take home for a second day. They also have a nice covered outdoor eating area. The only downside is no alcohol, but we don't mind that. One of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to in a long time, and definitely the best in Mount Pleasant. We started off with their chips, salsa, and cheese dip and knew once we started eating that the food we were about to get was going to be delicious. The cheese dip and salsa are perfectly spiced. My husband had the Tacos de Carne Asada and I had the Chimichanga. Both were absolutely fantastic. Finished off our meal with Churros, and just like the rest of our meal they were amazing. Ate lunch at Los Amigos in Mt. Pleasant, Mt. recently. I spend 4 months a year in south east Texas, and have eaten a lot of Mexican food. None of it beats the food at Los Amigos in Mt. Pleasant. The sauces tasted authentic, the chicken in the chiminchunga was tender pulled breast meat. Taco beef was lean. The chips were excellent. Beans were perfect. Best Mexican in town already! Fresh hot chips served with fresh salsa. The service was fast and friendly and the food came out very quickly for being as busy as it was. I ordered an enchilada lunch special, it came with two enchiladas and rice and beans. The portion size was enough to fill me up and bring some home. I appreciated how they seasoned their food here, they applied it to add a spicy kick without being overwhelming unlike other restaurants in town. The prices were also very fair for what you got! Not bad, but working out some issues still. Overall the food was very good, with only a few small issues. The salsa had a good flavor, but was terminally salty. Hopefully, that is not a recurring thing. The enchilada sauce was pretty bland and could use improvement, but all else was good. The fajitas were prepared well, but beware, there was some serious heat! Since my mouth was aflame from the first couple bites I couldn't narrow down whether it was the fajita sauce, the jalapeño in the pico de gallo, or if there were strips of pepper in with the veggies on the fajita plate. I enjoyed it, but some might not. We all thought that it seemed to be vaguely similar to Rancheros in Midland and found out from our server that most of the staff came from there, which explained that. Hopefully they do well here, because variety is the spice of life, but Los Palominos is still my favorite (however, I do love the Tacos Al Pastor at Aztecas). read more

The Mt. Pleasant area has plenty of options for Mexican food----the best being Las Palominos and the worst being Aztecas. Los Amigos is near the upper edge of the middle. It is good, the restaurant is clean, and the staff is friendly. It is also convenient to the shopping areas located at the south end of town. Had the Burrito al Carbon. Dried chicken chunks inside a tortilla. Absolutely nothing else inside it. No mexican spices used whatsoever. A scoop of rice and salty refried beans for the sides. They also put a bit of watered down cheese sauce on top of the tortilla. Kinda strange. Definitely not worth the $11. A little sour cream, pico de gallo or guacamole would of gone a long way to making mine better. My wife had the Chicken Chimichanga which should be fried crispy. They put the cheese sauce on top of that which made it quite soggy. Both of our meals were on the small side. Service was good as was the warm chips and flavorful salsa but that was it for highlights. I've had better mexican food when I ordered it from a clowns head in the drive thru line. read more

Salsa was just right with spice and flavor for us. Cheese dip was also good. Taco salad with ground beef was flavorful with a great shell. Chicken fajitas were well prepared with a nice char on the meat and veggies. The only ding was on the Guacamole - it was bland. Needs more cilantro, lime and spices. Service was spot on.
