I was at the Soaring Eagle for a couple of days event. Tried this place and was sadly disappointed. I don't remember eating at a place in years that was this disappointing. Upon entering you can quickly see the furnishing have been there a while so they are definitely dated. Lots of locals out for dinner. A real homey place. Server was fairly prompt and courteous. I ordered their restaurant named dish which came out in a timely manner. The issue was when I dug into the food. I'm normally pretty easy to make happy with food but this dinner stands out. The refried beans were plain and one step thicker than soup. The rice, the rice I can't put my finger on it but like the beans I refused to eat more than two forks worth. OK, the burrito will be good. Well, guess what, the meat (burger) tasted like there was no seasoning at all. OK, the chips were good and the dipping salsa was passable. Would I go back? No way. The staff was friendly and no pressure or hassle ordering or delivering the food but the food was just plain bad. read more

I enjoyed my meal from Los Palominos after spending time at the casino. I was promptly greeted, given a menu for my to-go order. Ordered happy hour beer and margaritas while waiting for the meal. Neatly packaged and easy to carry-out. Ordered the "Pollo a la Diabla" chicken platter, "Tamales Dinner", ground beef enchiladas served with seasoned rice and refried beans. Chips and salsa included in the to-go order. Very pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste of the food. Great price. I found the interior environment to be comfortable. Family friendly. order tacos realized the hamburger meat was reheated with a microwave. when I brought it to the front of the house attention they denied it was microwaved. seriously hamburger has a very distinct taste and texture when reheated .not sure what happened to the quality of this place. I was a patron of the place for 15 years. I will never go back and it's not just the food but the reaction from the front of the house when I told him about it . NOT acceptable !!! read more

Shooting down the old 127 Interstate, we get the hankering for some Mexican food. We started searching for some restaurants near Mt Pleasant when this place popped up. Not far off the highway and pretty good Yelp reviews, so we stop for dinner. Los Palominos is tucked away in a plaza along with a few other businesses. The place looks rather small from the outside, but it really opens up after walking in. The place is clean and decently decorated, and we are greeted and seated immediately. Staff were prompt and seemed very nice. As a side note, I don't care for paper place mats that really don't serve any purpose. The menu is huge, and we had to ask for a drink menu. We settled on the combination fajitas with steak, chicken, and shrimp all together (forgot the name), and the new Tacos Birria which came with beans and rice. Modelos in a frosty glass is nice on a hot summer day like today. Our meal came out fairly quickly, and looked pretty good. Flavor was standard though. Even the birria. Actually we both commented it was even on the salty side. The complimentary chips and salsa were good. The meal served its purpose, but that's it. Unfortunately, this restaurant tastes like the last 100 Mexican restaurants I can remember going to. Nothing stood out here except the frosty mug for the Modelo. A quick trip to the bathroom before heading out. That was pretty clean. Not spotless, but acceptable. Our meal dialed in around $35 for food and a beer, which is ok. I finally made it here! Pretty good Mexican restaurant in Mt Pleasant that my friend and I had for lunch yesterday. I had the chicken, steak and shrimp fajitas and my friend had the beef chimichanga. My fajitas were good too. He said it was bland but yet the beef and shell were really good. Good chips and salsa too. I'd definitely go back and explore the menu! Let's start with ambiance. Place had one table seated in the whole restaurant at 3:50 pm on a Friday. I was walking around looking for a booth with a plug near to charge my phone while we ate. I look through the kitchen doors and see and hear a lady yell at me. "Did you see the sign!" Is she serious. Did she think we were going to eat there after the obviously did that. Thanks. Nope. They literally fraudulently charged me for food and then couldn't refund me because the "manager wasn't in" she had "stepped out" for hours and then returned and called me telling me I had 20 minutes before she left for the day to get my refund back.... I couldn't come in her time frame so she said I had to be credited. I go back to this trash establishment to receive my credit and they have no record of it and to call back days later. The owner then says he's been here for 20 years and he's not going anywhere and hangs up the phone. They legit ripped me off for fake ass nasty Mexican food. This place and trash, it's dirty and the owners have bad hygiene. If you want a stink burrito and horrible service so check this place out! read more

The lunch fajitas were flavorful and well portioned as well. Do yourself a favor and order a side of their house made hot sauce, it was amazing. The tamales were kind of awful, but everything else was great so it made up for it. I would recommend dining here. read more

Tried this place today. I had tacos Al pastor. My husband had huevos rancheros, which were not on the menu but they made it for us, and my son had a burrito. Overall, authentic food, with lots of choices (maybe too many). My husband liked the huevos rancheros! Chicken was a bit dry in my son's food, and the guacamole was not so fresh. I gave it five because we were hungry, in a hurry, had our dog in the car, and this place did the trick. We ordered carry out and ate in car. It was 4:30 on Wednesday. Very large restaurant, only three tables had seated customers. Waitress and bus boy very friendly. Fish taco for $2.99 was huge piece of grilled fish and was delicious. Also had steak taco, chicken taco, and pork taco. Side of guacamole and chips. All very good. Chips not my fav. Hard and not fresh enough tasting. But everything else top notch inexpensive but delicious. Guacamole was nice and smooth. If you like cilantro, which I do, ask for extra. Just not enough cilantro and lime flavor. Ask for a lime, too. Now we know and we will definitely be back here. The shady looking mall it is in kind of put us off. Don't let it stop you from going in. read more

This is the kind of Mexican restaurant I wish I could find in my neighborhood. Leave it to a college town to have just what you need. Mexican restaurants typically do a very good job working with thinly sliced chicken. Most of the time you'll find five or six different varieties of preparation. My personal favorite is to simply order it covered with Mexican cheese. Sounds like the easiest thing in the world to find, right? Unbelievably I haven't been able to have this dish for a couple of years because no one in my neighborhood offers it. This place not only offered it, they did a wonderful job of putting it together! 2 because it is a basic strip mall Mexican restaurant without much independence on their decor, meaning it is a typical, basic style and unfortunately they seem to put more effort into their appearance than they do their food. And again, not much effort was put into the decor. The taco salad was all ground beef and shredded lettuce in a bland tortilla shell bowl. The tacos had no flavor whatsoever. Probably one of the better Mexican places to go to. Out of all the times I went there I don't think I have been disappointed thus far. They make their own chips and salsa which is quite nice. Their fajita burrito is quite good. Rarely the chips overcooked once out of the 10 years I have been there. The menu is creative with the food they will make for you. This is the only place in town that has gotten Mexican food correct. It has a small town diner feel. This is okay I guess. The two improvements that will make this place shine even greater is to improve the hospitality of the establishment, service is good. Last improvement I would suggest is to renovate a bar or other interior improvements. Other than that this place is rock solid. I give it a 9/10 or 4.5/5. This place is one of the best places in town and was worthy of me eating there several times. Good work. read more

My wife and I love good Mexican food, we have probably eaten in 250 Mexican restaurants accross America. We ate here recently and I ordered the 2 Chile Relleno dinner. The Poblanos came with some dark brown burnt casing around them, the meat was not in the peppers but sprinkled on top of the whole meal, the cheese also was not in the Poblano Peppers but was a pool of watery liquid mixed with what appeared to be cheese at one time swimming around the entire plate. The side dish on the same plate was a single bed of spanish rice, floating in the watery cheese. My wife ordered an Enchilada dinner, they were tastless, and the plate was full of shredded lettuce but no rice or beans for the sides. Needless to say we will not eat here again. read more

Hey, there IS good mexican food to be had in Mt. Pleasant! You wouldn't guess it from the storefront in an otherwise nondescript strip mall, but this place has the best quality mexican fare in the area. You won't find anything gourmet or out of the ordinary, but you will find standard mexican dishes made with quality ingredients and prepared in an authentic style. Fajitas, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, chile relleno... plus freshly made salsa and chips (don't ask for seconds, a sign warns on the way in!)... and the lunch menu features one of my favs for Mexican breakfast: huevos rancheros. Great vegetarian options, too. The veggie fajitas came with grilled fresh zucchini, mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers and onions, with plentiful condiments of rice and beans, guac, sour cream, pico de gallo and lettuce. read more

My favorite thing to order here is the beef tostadas. Can't get enough of these! And so cheap! A close runner-up: Fajitas Caribe (with pineapple, veggies, several meats). Please do yourself a favor and go HERE instead of that place everyone bafflingly refers to as "La's." Seriously?? No. For the people who docked them on cheese, they use queso blanco, Mexican white cheese that is a bit subtler than what Americans typically use, but it is a perfect compliment to the food. read more

Not horrible, but not authentic as it portrays. They didn't have horchata, they didn't have a decent salsa picante. Usually when I see dishes with "ground beef" (carne molida) instead of carne asada (pieces of cut steak), I know it is targeted more towards people who are accustomed to American cuisine.
