Went here for Sunday birthday. Excellent service. I had the 3 corn tacos with chicken, chorizo, and steak. They were delicious with salsa. They kept the chips and salsa flowing also for no extra charge. The wife had the Chimichangas Vallarta with chicken, shrimp and steak with rice, salad, and black beans. It was also very good. Prices are moderate and decor was also good. We will be back! read more

This is no longer our favorite Mexican restaurant. What happened in the last two months?? We didn't see any of our regular servers. We had to ask three times for Chips and salsa - and for the check! My meal was very salty. Yuk. And the prices went way up! On our way to the cashier desk, we passed two servers and the hostess -- all sitting down, scrolling through their phones. Sad. read more

Great service, HORRIBLE FOOD. Tacos de barbacoa were the most flavorless tacos I've had at Mexican restaurant. The corn tortillas were the only flavor the tacos had. Of a plate of 3 tacos I had 2 bites of the first one, I sent it back. Wife had tacos de carnitas, which were of the same flavor., NONE EXCEPT THE CORN TORTILLA. the mozzarella sticks were some frozen garbage while though hot, the cheese was rubbery, the beans tasted like they were out of a can, and the rice tasted and looked like reheated leftovers from the Chinese place around the corner. read more

If I was rating solely on food/price, I would give this restaurant 5 stars. However, the service is what brought my rating down. I stopped by for lunch and was one of only a handful of people there. The aesthetics are beautiful, with brightly colored pictures carved into each booth... a very bright and welcoming atmosphere. They also had a small outdoor seating area to the side. I was seated quickly and immediately brought a complimentary bowl of tortilla chips and salsa. The menu was very extensive, even including an American section with hot dogs and burgers. I decided on lunch combination #4, chile relleno, taco, rice, and beans... all for only 6 bucks! I was surprised by the large portion size, as I was expecting much less for a lunch portion. I was completely stuffed but managed to eat everything because it was so good! The service, however, was not as good as the food. The server took awhile to take my order and never came back after he dropped off my food... no water refills, no extra napkins, and no checking in to see if everything was okay. read more

I have to confess that this place was a pleasant surprise here in Mt. Pleasant. I know there are Mexican restaurants everywhere now, however, most of them are still a Tex-Mex type of restaurant. Well, not this place, yes, they will have your Tex-Mex options, but they also have dishes for the authentic Mexican taste. I have tried here the mixed tacos, the shrimp tacos, and the chipotle shrimp. I have to confess that my favorites so far have been the mixed street tacos. The servers ALL are super friendly and make their recommendations of their favorite options, none of their recommendations have disappointed at all. This is definitely one of my to go restaurants when I'm in Mt. Pleasant for business and now with Uber Eats, is even better! read more

As with almost all restaurants right now, they were clearly short on help when three of us stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. But every employee was working urgently to keep up with the customers and they were succeeding admirably. While at the same time serving delicious, well cooked food. For lunch we ordered chimichangas, fajitas and tamales. Nothing really exciting, but the food arrived hot and was freshly made. The tamales came already taken out of the corn husk, and the meat, especially the chicken was moist and tender. The chimichangas and fajitas were similarly prepared with care. Kudos to the staff of Aztecas for working so hard and delivering great results. Next time for me in MP, I will be stopping at Aztecas again. read more

Food was obviously microwaved. $40 for a small burrito and a thin piece of chicken and some uncle bens Spanish rice. Half way through our meal employees walk across the street with Walmart bags full of groceries and set them in the table right next to us. $5 for a small sauce pan of guacamole. The prices here are outrageous and the food isn't anything special. I got the shrimp tacos and it was literally three flour tortillas with and few overcooked bits of shrimp in them. Nothing else. Wasn't always such a bad value but this place has headed downhill. read more

I went to this establishment on April 21, 2024. I ordered a takeout with an order of a large salsa with chips. After receiving my food I took it to my vehicle and secured it so it would not tip over. I drove 20 minutes to my house in Rosebush and when I went to take the bag out of my vehicle the salsa was tipped upside down and it was all over everything, the chips and the food were all ruined. Salsa was not properly contained. The lid was totally off. It had leaked through the bag and was all over the floor of my car too. After spending $50 for dinner I felt that this was not my fault and I was going back to the restaurant to show them. So I drove back to Mt Pleasant and asked to speak to the restaurant manager. A man came out from the back who hardly spoke English and kept telling me that I dropped it. I asked if my food could be remade. He goes back into the kitchen and about 15 minutes later I asked how my food was coming along. Then a woman comes out from the restaurant's kitchen and tells me that they are not going to remake my food. Why was I standing there waiting for 15 minutes to be told this after all that time had lapsed. I demanded my money back and an argument pursued. I was not leaving until I received a credit on my charge card. After several minutes of arguing she credited my account. This was the first time I've been to this restaurant and it will be my last time. So now I have to spend another 45 minutes driving to another restaurant ordering food and waiting. In the meantime my spouse who is a diabetic and has to take insulin at certain times of the day is now 2 hours late for medication. This restaurant does not know how to package food or treat their customers with respect. They should have put the salsa in a plastic bag with a zip tie or taped the lid down. They accused me of being a liar. Too much stress trying to get a carry out. read more

My partner and I walked into Atecas and the manager told me that I need to have a mask on. Thats fine accept I replied by telling him that we're medically unable to wear a mask. He told us that we need to prove it, that we look fine. Its against the law for a business to ask you what your medical conditions are and told us that we have to prove it. Then told us that we weren't going to be able to get in anywhere with out a mask but the thing is we do because other business know that when you inform them that you are medically unable that by law they can't ask questions. So I will be reporting this establishment and it is up to a 75,000 fine for a violation. I'm a local and I'll never go back! Doubt they'll make it through this pandemic turning away customers who are medically unable to wear a mask. read more

Started off with bringing us chips and salsa. Chips stale and the sauce right out of a can. Watery and bland. Had lunch special of taco, enchilada and rice. The chicken has zero seasoning. Nothing inside the enchilada but unseasoned chicken. Canned red sauce soaked the outside. No cheese, nothing. The taco shell was out of a box or bag. Certainly not freshly made. Bag lettuce and bag cheese. Waiter had the personality of a turnip. Dropped off the plates of food and walked away. Never saw him again until he dropped off the check. No checking in with us to see if we needed anything. Taco Bell would've been a better choice. read more

Just, awful in every way. And it's like this every time (I am only going here because they can take our 12-person party fairly easily. Here is a list of ongoing issues we've had every time: 1. Meat is always dry, overcooked, and tough. Yesterday my burrito wouldn't even cut open with the knife or fork. 2. It takes forever to get something you request. We asked for water three times before we received it, about 45 minutes into our time there. Given that they provide you with tons of chips and salsa, water should be automatically given to each guest. 3. I don't trust their receipts. They only list the numbers and not the actual dish. 4. Every time they bring out the food, they have no idea who ordered what dish. So we spend a good amount of time trying to figure out who had what. It's especially difficult when we can't hear the server because it's so loud in there. We ONLY go here because we have no choice. read more

My in-laws come up every few months and refuse to eat anywhere else but here. My partner and I found this restaurant in college. The restaurant is a good place to try out here in Mount Pleasant. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff was very friendly. The chips were quickly served fresh and warm. The salsa (though was good) is not spicy. I ordered a small side of guacamole however it tasted a little off and didn't taste as well as I though it would (would not recommend). For the meal, I ordered Pablo's burrito, which is a really big size for a meal on its own. The rice I ordered with it was also very good. All of my food came out fresh out of the kitchen. Overall, if your in the area I would still give this place a try, the restaurant is well kept and the service is good. read more

I liked the Mexican food for the most part. The only thing I didn't care for was the rice as I thought it was too mushy. I got the lunch fajitas for $8.50. The steak was well seasoned and the pico de Gallo was good as well. I can't comment on the rice due to the fact I never get it. The chips were warm when they were brought with the salsa. We arrived an hour before closing time. Located inside a retail center I thought the restaurant was super clean and colorful, so clean you can smell the cleaning supplies. Now the reason I am giving this restaurant 3 stars is not because of the food the food tasted fine we ordered a few quesadillas steak and chicken and an order of their tortilla soup which was hot and very tasty. But the service and the lack there of was the main problem. Mind you it was a week night so it wasn't busy at all but it seemed that the staff was too busy closing the restaurant they forgot to take care of the guests inside. When you have to wait and wait and ask and ask to be served it's a problem. At one point one of us had to stand and find the server to give them the check and ask for a container to go. For a nice clean restaurant with good Mexican food they really need to pay attention even if they are about to close for the night. read more

Very good Mexican food! New restaurant has colorful atmosphere and the service was good. The food was excellent. I had the Chimi with beef, chicken and shrimp. This was a first for me (I usually stay with just beef) and it went very good together. I washed it down with a Dos Equis too. The wife had the enchilada and tamale combo and cleaned her plate. I visited this restaurant for the first time the other night. I must say I was quite pleased with every aspect of this place. The food was fresh and flavorful. I loved the chips and salsa. Their daily specials are a real bargain. I went on Friday night so they had $2 off Quesadillas. I ended up getting the Quesadilla with the chicken and chorizo. I absolutely loved it. My girlfriend ordered the chimichangas which were absolutely delicious. I could not ask for better service. This place has only been open a little under a year, but if they can continue to deliver fresh, flavorful tex mex cuisine along with good service, I think they will be there for many more years. I, for one, will definitely revisit this wonderful, local establishment. read more

I love Mexican food so I'm not easy to please since I grew up with the best. But the chimichanga I had at Los Aztecs was amazing. Unfortunately the service was lackluster. We waited 15 minutes just to place our order. We very seriously considered leaving but felt guilty about having already ordered drinks. The food is good, the service could use some work. read more
