Taco boy hot sauce is my favorite. Love putting it on my taco. I also ordered a toastada but it got a lil saugy lol Perfect for $2.50 on wacky Wednesday read more

Taco Boy Restaurant - Mexican Near Me - Mount Pleasant, Michigan

Just an update, it all depends on whose working. Yesterday it was good, but not as good as the first time. The owners should spend a little more time helping staff understand what the meats are. A woman asked what birria was, I had to step in and describe it to her, even the guy at the register said I explained it better than he could have thought. read more

Taco Boy Restaurant - Pork carnitas, Birria, beans and rice All of it was good and the beans were fantastic! - Mexican Near Me - Mount Pleasant, Michigan

The food is "cheap" and the taste and quality represent that. I was watching the cooks microwave the tamales, the rice was dry and unseasoned, and the staff was unprofessional. Despite not enjoying it the first time I considered trying it again just in case it was a mistake. However, when I attempted to try again, the staff found it acceptable to leave a note about "parking in their lot" on my car while I was at a neighboring business. I was ordering their food while grabbing something at that neighboring business. read more

Love the wet burritos the most but I've never had a bad meal at Taco Boy. Every time my sister and brother-in-law come to Mt. Pleasant they swing by for a wet burrito. read more

I had been going here for 30+ years. I've moved out of state 10 years ago and it's the first place I eat when I come home to visit. Not anymore. I had my usual on this past Thursday and it was nasty. They changed it!!!! Gross rice in my burrito!!!! I will not be back. I'm devastated. The pic is BEFORE I tasted it. I was so happy to be there.... read more

Taco Boy Restaurant - Super wet veggie burrito - Mexican Near Me - Mount Pleasant, Michigan

The new owner changed how the burritos are made, less meat, a LOT more fillers. A lot less flavor, they are actually bland. They don't hold a candle to what they were like under the previous owner To add insult to injury, they raised the price to nearly $10. I've been a customer of Taco Boy since the 1980's, but I won't be back read more

First time in this restaurant and staff were very helpful. The owner was working along side his employees and gave us complementary chips and salsa. The food was delicious, authentic, and reasonably priced. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area. read more

The bartender at Soaring Eagle told me this place had above average tacos. He was right. I tried both, the soft shell corn and flour tacos, and they were pretty good...but their hard shell was fantastic! The shells were super crispy but a little thicker than the norm so they hold together really well. They also fill their tacos nicely here...no skimping on meat or cheese. I will say that the seasoning is a little weak so the meat can be a little bland but still great tacos. The chicken tamale was pretty solid while I'd pass on the beans next time. But their rice is KILLER and their hot sauce is homemade and it's awesome. Service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant was clean. Try the hard shells and the rice for sure 3.5 stars easy. read more

Taco Boy Restaurant - Mexican Near Me - Mount Pleasant, Michigan

You wouldn't know it to look at the place but TB is the best Mexican in Mt. Pleasant. It's a very ordinary looking little place; but the food is amazing and the staff is always nice. People make a big deal about their wet burritos, but their tacos and tostadas are better than you'll get anywhere around. And all of this is for about the same price you'll pay at that fast food place. They seem to actually pay attention to the ingredients and it shows. (The only place they don't shine is their tamales. They're just ok.) I particularly like their "drive through". You drive up to the window,. The guy asks "what do you want?" and you wait at the window until it's ready. No speakers. No double lines. Everyone just waits their turn. I've tried all the Mexican in the area and there's lots that's fancier but nothing as good. read more

Overall just horrible. Cashier looked annoyed and seemed pissed for no reason and took 13 minutes for 4 people to order w no line. asked for chicken in my quesadilla and i only got cheese. I even asked to eat in and they gave us shitty paper plates. when i want to eat in i at least want real plates. get a dishwasher or something broke business. read more

This Mexican restaurant is a Mt. Pleasant mainstay. I would eat here when I was a student at CMU in the late 70's and couldn't afford a whole lot but had a craving for Mexican food. The food is consistent, fresh and tasty. I try to stop in and pickup their lunch combination plates when I'm in or near Mt. Pleasant. I like the hot tortilla chips and fresh salsa. You can't go wrong if you're looking for tasty, fresh and affordable Mexican fare. Give it a try. read more

The best tacos in Mount Pleasant! They have a ton of options and they newly put in a drive through which is super convenient!

Food tasted very bland and had no flavor to it. Especially the individual tacos, and wet burritos. And the guac tasted like it was store bought and zero flavor as well. read more

Cheap eats! Fill you up. Good to see they are open again. Hard to contact via phone. Just stop by.

Because the meal's got smaller and now they charge for refills on pop.no other restaurants in Mt.Pleasant does that

3 words: Mini. Wet. Burrito. If you stop by Mount Pleasant, and are wondering where to go and get fast Mexican food, skip all the rest, and come to this place! This place has the best mini wet burritos you'll ever try, and for a price point that's insane! This place is well known among local mount pleasant residents, and to the CMU students that can appreciate quality Mexican food. They have many options to choose from- from taco, to burritos, to even their cinnamon twists! You won't be upset. They have quite a few vegetarian options, and also they have different tortillas (corn vs flour) depending on if you have gluten sensitivities. Their homemade hot sauces are very flavorful. I would recommend this place for lunch vs dinner. read more

This place looks like the kind of place anyone would have the best food experience...... That is until you pay $14 to watch your food be microwaved in front of you by an individual not wearing a mask in this COVID pandemic where ALL food service workers are mandated to do so. I was greatly disappointed by my experience. I would not ever recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

They never get an order right and it's always someone else's fault. I've tried for the last time to support this local business.

Anyone who has has written a positive review for Taco Boy either 1) was drunk as hell when they went there, or 2) has no idea what decent, or even MEDIOCRE mexican food is. I've been almost everywhere in Mt Pleasant, but I had sort of forgotten about Taco Boy. The girlfriend and I finally decided to head there. We walk into basically an empty knock off of Taco Bell. Their menu, which basically doesn't explain anything, was tough to work through and pretty tough to figure out what we wanted. Just no explanation of what was what or what things came with. Finally, I ordered the super wet burrito. Ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and sauce over the top. What I ended up with was probably the worst thing I've ever had. Ground beef was completely under-seasoned - it had literally no flavor. Anddd, that's about it, since the whole thing is based on the beef. Of course the lettuce and tomatoes and onions had nothing wrong with them - they're raw vegetables! The burrito is covered in some sort of canned tasting enchilada sauce, and the burrito was clearly microwaved. Once I got towards the center, it was hardly warm. My girlfriend ordered some sort of combo meal that came with a taco, tostada, and beans. What came out literally looked like wet cat food on a plate. The refried beans, clearly right out of a can. Again, the beef was bland and the cheese looked disgusting. So, a super wet burrito, a nasty combo, and a regular pop for nearly $17.00!!!!! I could have gotten just as much, if not more food, and BETTER food at Taco Bell. I will never, ever come back to this place. The fact that they're still in business and people go here is sad. Oh, and one other thing before I end my review - I understand this is supposed to be a "locally" owned version of mexican fast food, but come on!! What kind of mexican places doesn't have sour cream!?!?!?!?! No tubs of it, no sides of it - what I got was a plastic packet of it that you would get in the Middle School cafeteria. Anddddd they charged $0.35/packet. Unbelievably disappointing. read more

Best tacos in town! I've had them my whole life and will always love them. Every time I go to Taco Bell and get hard shell tacos they are either soggy or breaking apart but when I go to taco boy their shells are always crunchy and are never broken before I get to take a bite! Love this small business and hope their drive thru can stay open! read more

Heard they had the same menu as Mr. Taco. Unfortunately not the same food. The green all meat was very light on green chilies and included a sharp cheddar cheese and lettuce. I detected a hint of my much beloved Mr. Taco of my youth. However, the cheese overpowered the paltry amount of green chilies. The taco was much the same. I remain unimpressed and craving Mr. Taco even more. read more

Taco Boy Restaurant - Mexican Near Me - Mount Pleasant, Michigan

Middle school lunch room food tastes better. Extremely bland. Everything was cold. Taco bell bypasses this place by a mile.

Quick, authentic Mexican food. Very good hot salsa, huge quesadillas, and great wet burritos. Would be 4-star if they gave complimentary chips for dine-in. Best Mexican in town! read more

Taco Boy Restaurant - Mexican Near Me - Mount Pleasant, Michigan

My boyfriend and I wanted to support a local business but it turned out to be a mistake. We ordered via door dash and chose the pickup option. I don't eat meat so in the comments I asked for beans instead of meat on a single taco- I figured it didn't hurt to try and if they didn't do it no big deal since it was only one taco. When I got there they hadn't even started our food and a shorter middle aged man told me door dash needed to be contacted because they couldn't fulfill my request. I told them I placed the order and it was no big deal. He acted like he couldn't even make our food and couldn't explain why. They finally started to do so after he was pretty rude. I also ordered guac and they took a packet of green paste out of the freezer and thawed it in between their hands for 10 minutes. That was their "guac" and when I tried it at home it was disgusting- it tasted like a garlicky paste and I threw it away. My boyfriend said his tacos were dry and nothing special. Will not be going back. read more

Don't waste your time. Taco Bell tastes better. We literally just left after dumping half our order in the trash. My husband ordered a beef wet burrito that literally was tasteless and my dry chicken burrito was just that dry, no taste AT ALL. We ordered 2 quesadillas for my kids and it was terrible. How can you mess up a tortilla with melted cheese? Well I will tell you, not melt the cheese and then serve it. Sorry excuse for Mexican food. read more

The food here is reasonably priced, after all this is a college town. The mini wet burrito is plenty big and very good. Their tacos are delicious as well as their tamales. I highly recommend this place. They are very quick to prepare the food, and carry out is also an option. read more

Really tasteless food. Place was a mess. If you want tomato on your taco that's a "deluxe" taco and has to be ordered as such! Won't go back

My family and I were here on Monday and had a good lunch. Their hot chips are great with the salsa. Kids just wanted beans and chips. We got the special tacos. Very full tacos plenty of meat and cheese, minimal lettuce. Place was clean. Lots of to go orders while we dined in. read more

My sister and I went here once years ago out of sheer curiosity. We had passed it so many times and wanted to know what all the fuss was about. After going I really have no idea how it is still open. I never really see people there, and when we went there was no one else there during the middle of dinner. And what we got was not impressive at all. It just tasted very cheap and processed. And I think I remember being sick the rest of the night from food poisoning! My stomach still hurts just thinking about it. We never went back. read more

Aye that wet burrito slapped, it was most definetly wet with all the sauce it came with. The wet burrito is a great selection for a work break. Oh also great service, nice people with great attitudes. read more

Waitstaff was extremely nice. Bathrooms were clean. Tamales are huge, filling and have great flavor. Came for the tacos, both their hard and soft corn tacos were amazing and filling. I will def be back read more

Meh. It's food for college kids. Flavors are mostly tolerable, but out of the 6 "Mexican" places in town, it probably ties for last place. Service was OK, other than the fact that none of the employees working seemed able to describe anything. There was also a pea sized bone shard in my burrito, that could very easily have resulted in a broken tooth. Go to Los Palominos or Aztecas if you want something resembling proper Mexican food. read more

I found the food to be utterly disgusting and vomit inducing. When ordering nachos be aware that off-brand tortilla chips are plucked from a plastic bag and discarded on a styrofoam plate then drizzled in shredded Walmart cheese and microwaved on high. read more

Authentic? No. Right along the lines of Taco Bell but the bell has more flavor. Ordered a soft taco. Ground beef, little lettuce and bagged cheese. Bland at best. The hot sauce more of a mild to most folks that like Mexican food. It's cheap and fast. That's the best thing it has going for it. read more

Great cheap tacos from homemade recipes. Regarding the reviews that compare it to Taco Bell, I question your culinary exposure. Maybe you have been raised on Taco Bell and consider that food, but to knock other people and tell them they don't know what good food is when you are eating Taco Bell's 35% meat should demonstrate your culinary expertise; or that the "meat tastes funny" maybe because its real, and not oats and soy? Taco Boy makes cheap, great food. They have a menu different from the other taco chains (thankfully) so don't expect the same. It is not authentic Mexican food; it is the American version. I have had just about one of everything on the menu, and I enjoyed everything so far. It is a bargain for good food. Try it on one of their deal days (Mondays and Wednesdays) where many items (tacos, tostadas, small drinks, beans, rice, chips, and cinnamon snaps) are $1.05. read more

We ordered take out here on our way back from the lake. I ordered the chicken quesadilla with spicy green sauce...what a mistake! I was expecting a crispy flour tortilla with a nice melted cheese and chunks of chicken with some sort of green spicy sauce (figure it would be the green tamatillo sauce). What I got was a warm flour tortilla, soft, filled with bland cheese and somewhere swimming in that mess was a few pieces of chicken. Nothing else. Maybe it was a cheese burrito? Either way, couldn't eat it after 2 bites. My wife liked the hard shell beef tacos though. She said they were flavorful and fresh. read more

I can't say I'd try this place again. The tables were dirty. The price point was a bit high for what the food was. I've never had a more bland wet burrito. The prices aren't even accurate from what they advertise. The sour cream was extra and was advertised at 35 cents, but they charge 60 at the register. We asked for water along with the sodas we ordered, and it turns out they charge you for it. The food was cold, even after asking to have it reheated, it came back cold a second time. You get a mystery charge for using a debit card as debit. read more

On the advice of a local, I decided to stop here for dinner when I was in town. It was a Saturday and they had a "Saturday Wet Burrito Special" so that's what I ordered. The ground beef inside the burrito had a weird texture and tasted like it was hardly seasoned. I was grateful for the onions inside because they were the only real flavor going on here. The burrito was ginormous but mediocre. The sauce they smother it in was canned enchilada sauce and actually had a sugary flavor to it. Yuck-o! Should have gone to Taco Bell instead of Taco Boy! read more

Taco Boy is an institution for long time Mt P locals. Great spot for non-meat items too - love the bean and cheese burrito and the veggie wet burrito. Love the homemade hot sauce. read more

Oh how I miss your wet burritos even living in NYC. Taco Boy and Stan's in Mt Pleasant are two of my must go to restaurants when I am back in town. I like their wet burrito with both beef and beans and black olives on top. Put a little hot sauce on that and I am in heaven :) read more
