Horrible customer service!! I heard good things about this place. I drove 25 minutes to try it out, when I was a few minutes away I figured I'd call the order in so it would be ready when I got there. The lady picked up the phone and I said id like to place an order, she said no they won't take my order because they close in 15 minutes! Wtf?! Alright let's get into it shall we? this is a very nice little place right in the down town area of Mt pleasant. This little place has amazing dogs, they use Dearborn brand with natural casing, they had the perfect snap and were juicy along with many topping options. The Dc cheese curds were hand cut and beer battered, also amazing. Fries beer battered fresh fast and affordable! A family size tray is $7.45 if my memory serves correctly. My Daughter (who has barely ever done food challenges) got the DC challenge. Three 1ft long coney dogs with your choice of toppings on a bed of fries and topped with a volcano of onion rings, this challenge was covered by man vs. food a time back, neither my daughter nor him could finish but they both got close, my daughter was 2 dogs down and half the fries and man Vs. food (Casie) had a handful of fries left. Service was fast and very friendly (shocked at my daughter's appetite as well) you can tell that their personalities come alive at night. Bathrooms were spotless, smelled good and even had flowers! Oh, dog central your fries were absolutely delicious but your dogs were average!! A ton of options to add to your hot dog but what good is that when the hot dog doesn't stand out. Ordered the popper dog and the toppings were pretty decent but the hot dog itself was cold and bland. I was quite dissatisfied to say the least. Service was poor. The location is amazing, the atmosphere is perfect for hot dogs and beer. I'm not sure what I expected going in, but I did expect to walk away finishing a meal. I went with a friend and neither of us ended up finishing. I ordered the hot dog with Fritos, which I thought came with chili but I seemed to have a gotten a hot dog drowned in nacho cheese. My friend went along about her coleslaw on her hot dog being very sour and ruining the whole entree. The beer battered fries are the best I've had in a long time, which is the only reason they got 2 stars. Maybe I will try again, but highly doubt it. Update: As the owner tried to reply to my review, this is an update as I feel if I order food I expect for it to be given to me. This place not only problem was nacho cheese, it was overall not good to me. It's a plain cheap hot dog, with a variety of toppings to cover it up. That's why this place received 2 stars, awful. I was initially a confounded (so many options). I almost wasn't going to get anything but was suggested a "surprise" dog, basically chef's choice. Of course I was nervous but indeed told them I have faith in their experience. When I found my surprise it was a "Kraut" never had tried or even seen it. Staff was real friendly and helpful as well. Im from Southwest Michigan and was in the area for the first time for the day. It was my first time there and I was going to get the cowboy dog but I saw the board closest to the counter and saw the Cuban dog had an asterisk next to it. I asked if that was the best and the guy taking my order said not necessarily and recommended I try the new item which was the po' boy. Great recommendation. Glad I got it. Their fries are good as well. They won best fries in Central Michigan in 2013. Not so recent but they weren't disappointing. Ordered a small size and it turned out to be a lot so that was awesome. Went in with a friend. We tried to order and the cook threw a fit when we wanted 12 hotdogs. The guy at the register was equally as an impressive and rude. There was no one in front of us in line and no one behind us. My friend politely told the guy at the register that he was happy to wait, as long as it would take. How does a restaurant that specializes in hotdogs, not have 12 hotdogs available within a reasonable amount of time? I was recently taken to this place for lunch. Their hot dogs are fantastic with interesting combinations. I think they prices are a little high, but it is a local place... so it might be why. Fries are decent and service was really good. The actual eating area could use some work, but it is a local college type place, so I am good with it. Jeff, I believe you had a bad dog or you just are one. Dog central is not only a great place to eat but also shows CMU students that anything is possible after graduating( the owner Paul McFall opened Dog Central quickly after graduating). They don't just have beef hot dogs but they also carry veggie dogs. The buns are steamed and can be substituted for a poppy seed bun. I have gone in several times and they have even offered pretzels buns as an option. Dog central not only carries your every day hot dogs such as ketchup, mustard and onion but they also carry gourmet dogs. My favorite gourmet dog would be the goober which consist of shredded pickle, chili, crushed fritos, and peanut butter. The odd combination makes this hot dog number one on my list as well as many others, I guess you just have to try it. but as far as Jeff goes, Im not sure what the University of Michigan has to do with hot dogs or Dog central. Last time I checked Lafayette was over 2 hours away and the baseball parks don't carry gourmet hot dogs. I hope everyone gives dog central a shot! read more

We enjoyed the standard grilled dogs -- nice and snappy - in Chicago and " mega" versions - and also a special bleu cheese dip for the fries. Very friendly counter staff. Lots of outlets for elwctronics. The only negative we have about the place is location; it's on a busy street, with only a tiny lot. (There's a puic lot kitty- corner, but requires a trek.)
