What a wonderful place to celebrate our 40 anniversary, wonderful meal , good waitress and the seafood soup was delicious wife has a ribeye that was amazing.

Crab curry fries
Shernell H.

Let's first start off with they have THE BEST strawberry cheesecake and sweet potato fries that I have ever had! Muy deliciouso! The sweet potato fries were fried to perfection and seasoned with sooo much love. And the CHEESECAKE... lol I initially said I didn't want desert but had a spoonful of someone else's strawberry cheesecake and immediately, I had to order my own. I was supposed to take it to the hotel and eat it lol but I ate it in a to go container with a knife . It's not too thick, super moist, and a joy to one's tastebuds. Essentially, everything I had here with the exception of the salmon sandwich (whatever it was called on the menu) was super good. I'm used to a creamier lobster bisque and usually, when it's heavier on the tomato base, I tend not to be fan, which definitely was not the case here. They have definitely changed my perspective for all lobster bisque lol that tends not to taste remotely similar to Pappadeauxs' lobster bisque. The crab curry fries initially sounded like it could be a hit OR a major miss based off of the reading of the menu, but it definitely was a hit. A very unique dish in my opinion. But sadly, the salmon sandwich was very underwhelming. I was disappointed in my selection with this, however, the side of sweet potato french fries compensated for this. Our waitress was definitely ON her job! Food came out quick and service was great. Overall, great experience.

We had a wonderful special birthday dinner here before a concert at Soaring Eagle. Our waitress was so sweet and food and drink's incredible!

Oysters

One of the better places to eat in Mount pleasant (only a 5 star for the area). Went for happy hour to get 1/2 off oysters. The oysters were small but fresh. Bread is great! Often times I think they scrimp on the alcohol in their drinks. Service and ambiance is always great.

Looking for a really nice experience & cool atmosphere in Mount Pleasant--somewhere that's NOT a casino? Give The Brass a try. Great waiter helped us-food is really tasty & fresh. I had the salad with an add-on of shrimp. It was delish! One suggestion (not limited to The Brass) is to please cut lettuce into more bite-sized pieces. A pet peeve are these mile-long ribbons of lettuce. So, if that's the worst thing, I'm good;) Iced tea is fresh-brewed, unsweetened and wonderful. The decor is 'fancy lounge, sort of 1950's/60's' and very nicely done. Looks like the kind of place that knows how to make a mean martini, if that's your thing. There is an outdoor deck area as well, for times the weather cooperates. All in all, I'd love to try additional dishes on the menu, as everything my group ordered was great. Prices are reasonable, though reflective of using quality ingredients.

Soup du jour (Dill Pickle Bisque) yum!

Hidden gem! We found this cute little spot on Yelp on our way from Mackinac Island to Nashville as we were looking for a place to have dinner before staying overnight in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. We called in advance to make a reservation. Etta assured us that we made the perfect restaurant choice and boy, was she right! When we arrived, we decided to eat at the bar instead of the dining area. Our bartender (Lizzie) was awesome! She offered to let us try the soup du jour which was Dill Pickle Bisque - it was surprisingly outstanding, so we ordered a cup, as well as a bread basket. For dinner, we enjoyed a nice Cabernet Sauvignon and shared Za'atar Herb Rack of Ribs which were full of flavor! Delicious food, great service, cute restaurant! If we ever find ourselves in Mt. Pleasant again, this will be our restaurant of choice!

Bar area at The Brass.

To start off with my husband and I have eaten at some really high end and low end restaurants all over the US. We always order different entrees and share so that we can enjoy more than one. This is the first restaurant that my husband has not even touched the salt and pepper shaker. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and seasoned to perfection!! The order came out rather quickly and there was not a long wait in between orders. I can't say enough about the deliciousness of every item we ordered. The owners of this restaurant better hold tight to this chef as he is one in a million. I would give this chef 10 thumbs up if I had them. The young girl that waited on us was sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. Before we left home we were undecided of where to eat...Thai, Sushi or The Brass. We are so glad we chose The Brass. Heck we can't stopped telling each other how good the food was. I love the bar in the restaurant. It was beautiful that I even took a picture of it. Keep up the great work as we will be back with friends. Thank you for a delicious night out!!

Ribeye steak and pork shank

My wife and I went out to celebrate our anniversary. This was the best meal we've had at a restaurant in years! The appetizers came out immediately and the food was ready when we were finishing the appetizers. My steak was a perfect medium rare (which it seems is a lost art) and my wife's pork shank was beautiful and tender. The service was excellent all around and we will be back again!

One of the three crab cakes in my appetizer.

First time here and will definitely go again if in the area (just hear for a long weekend to see a concert). I ordered a wedge salad and crab cake appetizer for my meal. Wedge salad was classic wedge salad - pretty darn good. HOWEVER the crab cakes were superb! Three crab cakes sat on a nicely herbed remoulade and were topped off with the most delightful tomato ginger jam - so good that I contemplating asking to buy some of the jam to take home. There was a little heat in the jam - quite possibly from red pepper.

Duck L'orange

Every time i'm here it's an absolutely amazing experience with amazing food and drinks!! Love everything about it here.

In town visiting family and so glad we gave this place a try. I had the salmon and my husband had beef stroganoff. Drinks were delicious and so was the food. Great service. I highly recommend stopping in. Dont let the outside fool you this place is top notch.

The menu is severely limited. Not a place for kids food wise, especially if they're picky. Staff is cordial, but the kitchen is slow.

Ask the Community - The Brass

How awful would it be to bring kids here for a family dinner?

I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world, but it's definitely has a nice bar-vibe. It doesn't have that "bar and grill" feeling that's amenable to kids.

Are there many gluten free items?

Yes, the lunch bowls were gluten free.

The aioli and sweet soy was a great complement to the perfectly cooked, juicy bites of fried chicken. Meals: YES, there was just two of us and YES we got three meals, soup and an app. The menu is outstandingly elevated, packed with creativity and flavor profiles. We chose the Venison Chili to start and wow, it was amazing. Our meals were 1. Southern Mac 9/10: not our favorite due to the cheese sauce, but the flavors overall were spot on, noodles perfect, spicy jalapeños and the pickled onion was a perfect touch. 2. Steak Dinner: this is the meal that made me ask who the Chef here is! 100000/10! Most amazing, juicy, tender and flavorful steak I've ever had. I asked for a side of the truffle garlic aioli because I wanted to try it, the steak didn't need a darn thing (although I did take the horseradish aioli home to try and replicate!) The sides were perfect, the veggies and the potatoes - yum. The house made sauces were amazing but for only dunkin' those potatoes - don't ruin a good steak with sauce. Seriously, it's that good. 3. Gyro Lamb Burger: 10/10! The lamb was juicy, the homemade tzatziki was so darn flavorful and the cucumbers were crisp and fresh. Dessert: leftovers, and our delicious drinks from the bar - we didn't have a bite to spare in our stomach's. Hats off to the chef and team who created this menu! We drove almost an hour to come here based on your Google reviews alone and it was worth every second of the long rainy drive! We will absolutely be back. This is a level of service and food you need to tell your friends about.

They were also doing a deal on their mocktails for dry January, which I thought was cool. The menu is pretty varied with lots of options for meat-eaters--I wouldn't come here if you're vegan or vegetarian. Entrees get a bit pricey (their steak frites is $49), but sandwiches are around $15-$18 and come with fries. I ordered the pesto chicken wrap with a side of mac and cheese instead of fries. My friend got the chicken and chorizo nachos and we decided to split them half and half. Our food came out quickly and looked really good! The wrap was tasty but I couldn't really taste the pistachio pesto. The mac and cheese was incredible--super cheesy, perfectly cooked cavatappi noodles, and very flavorful. I'm really glad I upgraded to that and would even consider getting the full entree size in the future. The nachos were pretty loaded, and a generous portion. I liked all the toppings but didn't really taste much chorizo. These would be a good starter for a group. Overall a very good experience and I would come back.

Our server was really sweet and gave us plenty of time to catch up and browse the menu. We started with an order of cabin sticks, which are cheese filled breadsticks. Their ranch is famous apparently (you can get a giant container of it to take home), and it was pretty tasty. I liked that the cabin sticks were cut into chunks so it was easy to share with the group. Nate and I got the classic pizza, with pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, onions, black olives, and mushrooms. Our food came out quickly and the pizza was completely covered with toppings! The crust was thicker than I typically prefer, but it was needed to hold up all those toppings. The sauce wasn't too sweet and the medium size was perfect for us to have some left over for the next day. If you're craving pizza, definitely check out The Cabin!

A pretty good overall experience, perhaps a few things could be improved for next time…read more I was pleased with the quality of our appetizer, as well as the creativity. We went with a fried goat chase appetizer, which I've never had before, and never even seen on another menu before. The cook clearly enjoys using balsamic glaze as this was used on both the appetizer and later on my entrée as well. Balsamic glaze is certainly delicious, but I'm not sure if it goes well on quite as many things as the cook seems to think it does. My entrée was a dish of mushroom ravioli prepared in a purée made with green peas. I noted that the chef used a variety of spices in preparing the purée, to very good effect. My wife ordered the New York strip, and what was brought out looked very good. We both had cocktails, and in both cases the cocktails or well-made. I ordered a Mojito type drink made with tequila. My wife ordered a strawberry Mamosa. I noted the care that was taken in preparing both drinks which tells me there's a professional bartender on staff. About the only thing that needs to be improved is the service. We waited just a bit too long for certain aspects of the meal in a restaurant that was nearly empty. The server was certainly polite and well mannered, but I think he was the only one working that evening. Perhaps on weekends they're better staffed?
