The atmosphere here is your classic bar that serves food. It does seem clean though, so at least not a grunge bar. They have lots of TV's so you can watch the game. I ordered the Rodeo Burger ($13), a 7oz patty with cheddar cheese, onion rings, and bbq sauce. The burger was very good. Good quality beef cooked perfectly to my requested medium. I devoured it. I got potato wedges with it. They were huge and hotter than the sun. They barely cooled down by the time my burger was finished. Besides burning my tongue, lol, they were very good. I would definitely get both again. The service was very good and friendly. Overall a 4 star review. Would I return? Yes. This may not fall into my favorite best burgers it is very good and if I lived in the area it would definitely be in my rotation of burgers read more

Great local bar feel and the staff was friendly. The place had all the amenities of a country bar. The place was patriotic and welcoming. The weight staff was friendly and diligently working. Our orders were filled correctly and without any issues. The waitress was friendly, but not overbearing. The food was good. The special was the bourbon, glazed burger, and it did not disappoint. The burger was cooked well, and the caramelized onions and mushroom were delicious. The glaze covering it all just added to the flavor and taste. My daughter wanted a burger for dinner and this place was ranked 4th on the top burgers in Mr. Pleasant- the top 3 were closed on a Sunday evening. I should have went to #5.... We ordered the mozzarella sticks and a Chicago Burger- blue cheese and Swiss to share. The mozzarella sticks were good. The burger as bland. We both LOVE blue cheese. You can tell they used blue cheese dressing instead of using anything fresh. It didn't have any taste at all. Then the kicker.... I noticed a white/black hair on the basket. Ugh. I turned and looked at the kitchen, one of the cooks had a FULL beard and it wasn't covered. This was clearly a beard hair and not a hair from someone's head. I will never be back. It is common practice for full beards to be covered in the food industry. Go somewhere else- Mt P has lots of other restaurants. read more

Freddies used to have the best burgers in town, I don't know what happened but I've had three bad burgers in a row. Absolutely burnt and crunchy on the outside, tough and basically inedible. I think I learned my lesson now. Avoid the burger but the chili is pretty good. read more

Freddie's was my favorite place to eat when I lived in Mount Pleasant and I always make it a stop when I am in town. Don't pass up the broccoli cheese bites! Awesome burgers with homemade buns and juicy breasted chicken are my recommendations. read more

Stopped here with my cousin to watch the end of the football game last weekend. Very expensive so a hole in the wall place with sub par food. I got the taco salad which was finely shredded iceberg lettuce ugh a few pieces of taco meat. Not good at all. We had 3 drinks and two entrees for 53 dollars. I am happy to pay that much for quality meals but sheesh. Save your money and stick to the cocktails. read more

For a town that lacks good seafood, Freddies has possibly the best fish fry around. Aside from that, their burgers are amazing and overall food selection is really good. Most college student's don't even know about this place, but once I moved off campus and ended up living down the road from it, it's always been a place I go to for dinner every few months. Good pizza, burgers, fish - basically anything I've seen anyone order off the menu looked and tasted good, and was reasonably priced. It's not in the main commercial districts, but the area is not sketchy (as described elsewhere). I had the broasted chicken which was good although I was surprised there was a $2.19 up-charge to have all dark meat (even more for all white meat). My caesar salad was large & side of cole slaw was the biggest I've ever had anywhere. Also, Blue Moon Peach was among the variety of beers available. Server was prompt & friendly. Freddie's is a classic dive bar with great food. The burgers were perfectly cooked and seemed to be a blend of beef that had a very satisfying taste. The chili was piping hot and flavorful. The service was fast and friendly. The night we visited the Chippewa D line was dining. Bonus! read more

Noon and the doors aren't open .. 4 cars in the parking lot and everyone went somewhere else not to mention sat In the parking lot for 10 minutes as the cook worked out with with the oil before he threw it in the trash .. On 7/28/2018 at approximately 5:00 myself and a female friend came into Freddies for the first time and sat down at a table near the pool tables as we had 3 more customers coming. After sitting here for over 5 minutes the bartender walked over and said, I have a big group coming in so you will have to move so we moved and then walked behind the bar and got on her phone. I waited a few minutes and asked her if she had time to take an order and she snickered and mumbled something I didn't catch. A great little hidden gem. Most students will never find this little local bar & grill during their stay in Mt Pleasant and that's a shame...but it's also what makes Freddie's great. Awesome burgers and fantastic chili Freddies is a great place if you like the blue collar bar type atmosphere. We always stop in there to warm up after playing some pond hockey. First, I will say the food is fantastic! Probably the best burger in town. My reason for 2 stars is the staff is unbelievably rude. There were 4 of us and right off the bat we asked if we could split the bill in half. She said we could but we would have to wait until we were ready to cash out to split it. That was ok with us. She took our friends drink order and then my friend asked if she could order an appetizer and the waitress snapped at her and said she needed to wait until the drink orders were complete to order any appetizers - it was only chips and salsa. So then it's time to make our food order. My friend has a gluten free diet so she asked for the grilled chicken sandwich without the bun. Nothing else special, just no bun. Then my husband ordered wings and asked for an extra side of hot sauce. The waitress said "you guys are really making this difficult". We were in awe! I could see getting a little testy if we had ordered all of this "special order" food but really? No bun and an extra side of hot sauce was making her life difficult?! Service was really slow but it was busy so we were ok with that and understand. So when we ordered drinks we ordered two at a time just to make it easier on her but she still would only bring us one at a time. When I mentioned that we had ordered two each, she said we didn't need two because the first drinks were still half full. I tried to explain that for most of the night we had no drinks for a good 15 minutes in between and that is why we wanted two but she stomped away. Pretty much the rest of the night we had to go to the bar and order because we were definitely not getting service from her. So then it comes time to pay our bill, which she said before we ever ordered anything that she could separate at the end. NOPE - she said we would just have to figure it out ourselves because we made things so difficult with our orders and how was she supposed to know who ordered what? Wow! That is why we asked to have it separates in the beginning! We still had a good time because of our company but our waitress made us never want to go there again. read more

We were in the area, feeling in the mood for a good bar burger, and based on the advice of our fellow Yelpers we headed to Freddie's. The bar isn't near the CMU campus; it's not downtown; it's in a rather sketchy neighborhood just north of High St., in an outright ugly building topped by several apartments. It doesn't look like a promising place for either food or drink. But we were pleasantly surprised to walk in and find a very clean, if dark and nondescript, establishment. We were also surprised to see home-smoked ribs on the specials menu. We were ALSO surprised to note, on this weekend afternoon, the number of takeout food orders going out the door as we waited for our meal; that should tell you something about the quality of the food. We had excellent burgers -- there are about a half dozen variations on the menu; we had the Chicago burger, which features bleu cheese as a topping, and it was great. The french fries were nice and crisp, not the limp afterthoughts we're unfortunately used to experiencing in such places. Prices were reasonable. The only negative, for us, was the limited beer selection; we were hoping for more Michigan beers; but we did get a kick out of seeing someone at the bar enjoying a Hamm's -- whaaaat? They still brew that? We're definitely adding this place to our Mt. Pleasant queue. read more
