We checked this place out on Sunday evening for dinner. It was packed. Smaller place but lots of character and charm. We got the last table when we walked in. Service was fast and very nice Our waitress was a jack of all trades, she not only took our orders but also made our drinks and offered us cookies. Never been to a restaurant that did that before. Food: we shared a pound of boneless wings. Best boneless wings I have had in a long time. Better than wing stop and better than Buffalo Wild Wings. If you're gonna get a sauce.. you gotta try the cherry bomb sauce.. was soo good. I could taste the cherry in it and had a little kick We also got the Texas egg rolls I believe they were called. Brisket, cheddar and street corn in fried wonton... you can't go wrong. They are warm, a little spice and so delicious. We will definitely come back here. We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon and were seated immediately at the last low-top table available. From order to eating, it was 45 minutes, which the owner said in other review responses was the normal turnaround time when they are busy. My brother had the talking turkey, and I enjoyed the barn burger with an up-charge to add mustard. An open setting with a bar, booth, and low-top seating, 8 Craft beers are on tap with many other can and bottle options. Competitive prices. Different food up charges. The restroom is clean. I lived in the area for the past 5 years and my first time in there I knew it would become my go-to spot. The staff are absolutely incredible and give you shit but will never forget your name. You go in there once a month and they remember everything about you,ask about your life and are some of the best people you will meet! Cathy is an incredible owner, looks out for her staff and runs an exceptional business. The food is all local and amazing, you may pay a bit of a premium but because of the location and the neighborhood vibes it is 100% worth it. Hands down my favorite bar anywhere I've been, and it's sad to have moved away. But seriously stop by, give everyone shit and say it's from me. As a strong supporter of small businesses, I was eager to get to this local owned business. Upon walking through the door, 3 staff members were standing behind the bar, at least one of them eating. We were not greeted at all, which was disheartening. Our server arrived, still chewing what she was eating from behind the bar. Not super friendly, but asked us what we would like to drink. Never a mention of anything they had on tap or local brews. My husband got up and went to the bar to see what the choices were. We ordered the homemade jalapeño poppers which were very good. I ordered chicken wings-$13.50 per pound (11 wings) which would have been tolerable had they been fresh wings, maybe grilled?!? Nope the smallest wings I have ever seen and not fresh. They appeared to be the same wings you can buy at the local grocery store, pre cooked and seasoned. Like the "anytizer" brand in the freezer section. My husbands fish looked a lot like the Gortens fisherman's planks. Both of our fries were fried so much that it was like eating fried air, no potato at all in the center. Our server became a little more sociable as it became time for the tip. Reviews have said friendly staff and great food but unfortunately we didn't get to experience either of those qualities during our visit. Not even a friendly goodbye as we exited, passing by our server. They may have good burgers but I surely won't be wasting another $51 to find out! read more

My spouse and I tried the Barn Door a couple of weeks ago based on positive online reviews, and we were not disappointed at all. This little bar, in what looks like maybe an old schoolhouse, is pretty modest on the outside but packs a memorable flavor punch on the inside. The bar served a variety of hamburgers -- an unusual but tasty one has Old Bay sauce and provolone ( the sauce is a good dipper for fries too) , sandwiches, wings and entrees. The Cherry Bomb wings are terrific -- a spicy Michigan cherry sauce that has some sweet heat but isn't overwhelming, and also doesn't have a fake cherry flavor like some cherry products. Good sides like onion rings and tots. They offer whiteboard specials and soups of the day. The bar atmosphere is light, bright and very clean. It feels like a pleasant neighborhood hangout, and the times we've been there it's been fairly busy but not overly loud or crowded. Darts seems to be a popular pastime. The bar serves some interesting craft beers in addition to the usual, and the liquor shelves have a more interesting selection than a lot of rural bars -- some regional spirits and better brands. Service was excellent and friendly -- also not a given in some rural areas when new visitors show up. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a casual, relaxed bar atmosphere but not a dive, and with exceptional food and friendly service. Our one pro tip is to keep and eye out when driving there the first time, because the building is set back slightly from the highway and is easy to miss. read more

A+ service and yummy food! But the jalapeño poppers are hot...just too warn you. They are made fresh, definitely not the typical bar fare food. They take sanitation seriously out front so to me that means a lot for what's going on in the back of house. My wife and I had the smothered chicken and mash potatoes, they were good. The staff was very friendly.

My wife and i stopped by based on the reviews. The homemade jalapeño poppers were outstanding. This is where it ended. The fish and chips are no better than the fish sticks purchased at the local dollar general and fryed or microwaved. My wife ordered wings, anyone who thinks pre-cooked frozen wings that are dropped in hot grease should evaluate their taste buds. The fry's were way over cooked. Disgusting quality, and i wouldn't even attempt to try anything else on the menu. read more

We tried to support them for a few years ordering every other month and the food was just so greasy, the fish fry on Friday was filled with a lot of hot grease which melted the styrofoam box. I ordered a chicken sandwich and it was not cooked through and when mentioned to the owner Cathy she basically laughed it off and we never ate there again. read more

Food, isn't horrible, just average dive bar stuff. Beer selection is tolerable for a place that's in middle-of-nowhere-Bud-Light-country. When B-Dubs remodeled, this place bought all the booths, tables, and seats so they all have the Flying Buffalo logo carved into them, which I find amusing and a little indicative of the mindset. I mean, hey, how hard would it be to have some small pieces of wood with YOUR logo engraved on them whipped up and screwed over the OTHER places logo. This (and the rest of the décor) tells me that, "Eh, ain't nobody got time for trying.", which also shines through in their cooking. read more

I don't usually frequent smaller bars off the beaten path but man o man is this place awesome. I use to come here in college when i wanted to get away from the "big city" of Mt. Pleasant and enjoy some local feel. They place a lot of sporting events and have amazing food and service. Make sure to get the chilli and try the hot one just for the experience. It's been awhile since I've been and I have since moved away so please visit this place for me. read more

Love this locally owned bar/restaurant! We go for a burger and to watch sports on tv whenever we are up at our house in lake isabella. Right down the street from the pines golf course. The Barn Door is a family oriented business, involved in the community, hosts fundraisers for local families. On top of all of that they serve wonderful food, great beer selection by choosing Michigan craft beer, and the most welcoming people around.
