Stopped here while traveling and picked this place based on reviews. This will be a restaurant we will consider coming back to when we travel. It's a smaller diner with a moderate amount of seating. They were fast. Four of us were in and out in a little over 30m! Waitress was kind, helpful, and attentive. We ordered Mexican quesadillas, Jimmy Cunga, Bacon Bleu burger, and the Nest Burger. All were good. The burgers were well done but they didn't ask how we wanted it cooked. The chimichanga was good- lots of meat, cheese and sauce. Great breakfast! This place is super cute. This place has a small-town feel. The waitress was nice and welcoming without constantly being in your face. The food was great. The bacon was the real deal, not that thin flavorless bacon you get from your local chain grocery story. My boyfriend and I are in our 60's and eat at The Nest often. Always have good service, and good food. However, tonight, September, 7 2024, was exceptional! We went in, sat ourselves down at the booth we like best (right by the door), and our server, Jennifer, who serves us often with a pleasant smile and warm welcome, came to us to get our drinks. She recommended the special, Lobster Ravioli on a bed of Linguine and Garlic bread. She said how it was really good. I ordered it...............It was FANTASTIC!! Better by far then Red Lobster! I mean that too.. I am going to eat that every time they offer it. This place is always clean, food is always good, and they have the kindest, friendliest servers that work very hard and are very good at what they do. I'm basing this review on breakfast, but WOW it was too amazing to wait and try other meals! We live about 40 mins from Farwell, so when my son in law ordered breakfast for all of us from The Nest, I was cautious. I suggested a place closer, but he was adamant. BOY AM I GLAD HE INSISTED! I am VERY fussing about breakfast meals. I want my hash browns crispy and browned. I want care taken with egg preparation. The Nest exceeded my expectations. Although it is small and unassuming, the 40 minute ride did not detract from this hearty and perfectly prepared meal. We all had omelets - not even the best restaurant could render OE eggs still hot with that drive. I had the Western, and a side of has browns. Everything was STILL HOT, especially the insides of the omelet. The hash browns were perfect. The size of the omelet was mind blowing. All I can say is this will now be my go to place for carry out breakfast! I am anxiously awaiting my next meal from here! read more

After giving The Nest several more try's I am happy to report the service problem was fixed. They have consistently good quality food with nice portions. They have a family recipe Chili that is the best in Michigan. If you see BBQ Ribs as a daily special (usually Wed) get them. They are fall off the bone tender. They have a separate menu with 20 different burgers. Friday is fish fry with a selection of fish, clams or shrimp. The Wet Burrito is humongous and very tasty. The meat is perfectly seasoned. They have daily specials and breakfast specials. In an economy where everything is expensive The Nest is amazingly reasonable. It is hands down the best family/small town restaurant in Clare County! Plus the cute owl decor is welcoming. read more

Kids were super happy they could get breakfast at lunch time. One person in our party got the mushroom and Swiss burger and was really happy. Another got a Hawaiian flatbread and said it was outstanding. Another hot a hot dog and fries and he said it was huge and yummy. It is good diner food. In what was formerly the MAD Café, The Nest Diner has officially opened for business. We arrived on their first day at about 10 am as the am crowd was clearing out. There was just enough parking for us to park, so we headed on in. The interior is essentially the same minus the brick-a-brack on the walls. The wife ordered a cheese omelet with hash browns, I ordered the Country Fried Steak with Extra Crispy Hash Browns. As we waited for our order to arrive, I spied a bottle of Sriracha on another table, so a few points were scored there. Once the food arrived I could see that my hash browns were most definitely not crispy, let alone extra crispy. Minus points there (the wife said hers were ok, but a little less cooked than she'd like). The wifes omelet was good, especially enhanced with the aforementioned Sriracha. My Country Fried Steak was PERFECT. The breading was flavorful and crisp. The gravy was fresh and sausage laden. The steak was tenderized and sized fairly. Yum. I'm giving a 3 star to start due to the hash brown shortcomings, which could just be due to the fact that they had been in business for all of 5 hours. I know the owner and I'm confident she'll get that remedied ASAP. I'll sample more of the menu on follow up visits and adjust the rating as necessary. read more

On the day we visited, we each got a daily special -- a,BBQ pork sandwich for me, a turkey Reuben for my partner -- a and I also had a cup of hamburger vegetable soup. The Soup was...meh; needed morel seasoning and needed some fat skimmed off before serving. My sandwich, by contrast, was great -- tasty Mom- style BBQ on a toasted bun. Several years ago, my spouse and I stopped for lunch here. It was a typical "up north" diner with a rustic owl motif...uninteresting menu...just okay. Well, this morning we were in the area and thought we'd give it another chance...and we're glad we did! The owls are still there, but the place is about 300 percent cleaner and brighter, the menu greatly expanded, and the food delicious and generously portioned. Over two dozen hamburger variations...interesting entree specials...pie, milkshakes and sundaes. The breakfast menu was pretty standard, but I did notice that the veggie omelet included spinach -- not so common in these parts -- and that there were some breakfast wraps listed; so I got the omelet, and my spouse got the " ultimate" wrap. We were amazed by the lumberjack portions. My omelet was well made and loaded with vegetables. The wrap was a protein - packed behemoth of eggs, cheese and breakfast meats. We wound up making two meals out of our orders. Service was friendly. The place was packed; in fact, it's the number of vehicles we've regularly noticed on our drive-bys that convinced us to give this restaurant another try. The only -- only -- thing we found wanting was that the server failed to tell us about the breakfast chalkboard special, chorizo hash, which isn't on the regular menu; we'd somehow not noticed the specials board when we walked in. We would definitely recommend The Nest to any travelers down Old US 10. read more
