After moving to MP a few days ago, I tried out the Diner. Ordered french toast, bacon & coffee. Toast was excellent! $11 out the door, about the same as I paid in Arkansas for the same meal. More fluffy than crispy, so tasty! Coffee was hot & strong, just like I like it. Bacon was crispy & delicious, too. Service was very fast & friendly, even at their busiest time of day. Another reviewer was correct, appears to be a social gathering place for us old folks. So, $$ for price, abd FIVE STARS for quality and service. read more

Typical small diner, old time feel. Had omelette and hash browns with toast. Loved the hash browns, crispy on outside, hot and tender on inside. The omelette moist, not dry like other places. Um, um good. Any place that has the little packets of blackberry jelly is a positive for me. Service very good. They only take cash, but they do have a ATM inside the restaurant. This place is everything you want in a breakfast spot. The total bill for two people to eat way more than they could ever want was only $36. The bacon was crispy and salty The eggs were dark yellow which tells you that they were raised properly The biscuit was light and flaky definitely homemade The sausage gravy had plenty of sausage in it and didn't taste like flour The corned beef hash had a nice crisp on it and a warm mushy center. The food was absolutely fabulous. It seems like it's a little out of the way as far as location but it's definitely worth it. It has plenty of parking there is a small bathroom for women and a small bathroom for men right near the dining room which I didn't like but that's sort of the old school design. The wait staff is really fast they know their stuff and they're very friendly. They seem to run specials and they have take out menu. It's a MUST!! We were in from out of town for the special Olympics event and I would definitely come back anytime. They say "Home cooking at its best" and I concur. read more

Classic diner food! First time here and would come back if I'm the area again. We were there around 10:30am. My cousin ordered an omelette and enjoyed it. I ordered a club sandwich off the lunch menu and it was huge! Unlike other places that use turkey lunchmeat, this was actual turkey slices and was flavored well. There was a bit too much mayo on the sandwich for my personal preference but that's easy to just scrape off a little bit. My only complaint was that the waitress never came back to see if we needed anything - sandwich was messy and I could have used another napkin. But other than that, great experience. read more

It was a very busy Sunday morning but our server, Crystal, was on top of it! In fact, our coffee cups were never empty because the whole server team tag teamed coffee refills. Our food came out in a timely way and it was all tasty! It was my first time there but I was told it was the best around. :) I have to say it was very good! The place is small, but always full. Booths and tables sorta close together. So if you're a bigger person make sure you get a table or you'll hang over the booth table. It's a nice location- north on mission. I Ordered a grilled ham and cheese with egg to-go on one day and a BLT with egg to-go the next day. Hands down the grilled ham and cheese with scrambled egg was the winner. I think the big difference was the bread was only toasted in the BLT. The griddle sealed the deal For me. The coffee was fresh and tasty, on the weak side for my tastes, but flavorful enough to ask for a refill! The wait staff was very nice and accommodating with special order, even asked questions to be sure we were on the same page. Also very easy going with each other which made the atmosphere light hearted. It seems clean and organized and things seemed to run smoothly considering how busy they were on Sunday morning. Which leads me to why I didn't give it five stars. The place was packed, there were no empty tables, people were face to face and back to back. There was absolutely zero social distancing going on here. Two of the girls were wearing reverse face shields from their chin just past the tip of their nose. These are not masks and do not inhibit their breathe nor do they offer themselves any protection. It was honestly a ridiculous attempt to play by the covid rules expected in Michigan. So yeah, I would do takeout from here but I would not recommend dining in if you care about stopping the spread of covid. read more

They don't accept credit cards. They have inside the restaurant a ATM machine to get cash which is a complete scam. it say $4 fees to get the cash but instead the machine charged me $4 fees plus $2.50 from the diner another $2.50. I paid $9 to get $100 cash to pay for the breakfast. read more

The Diner is a local breakfast and lunch restaurant that has a country style atmosphere with 16 or so tables. We walked in with another couple and right away they knew patrons who were already eating there. The server greeted us and gave us options were to sit I like that welcome relaxed feeling you get. The prices are reasonable and the portions are big. Today we ordered the country fried steak and olive burger with onion rings. The best part is they had sour dough bread not a lot of places in the Detroit area offer sour dough or at least the ones I go to. We sure enjoyed our breakfast and lunch. read more

Our travels have taken us to an overnight stay in Mount Peasant, Michigan. We needed breakfast, brunch or lunch, depending on who you asked, so to Yelp we went and found The Diner. Thirty two reviews and 4.5 stars? We were in. I order breakfast. Two eggs over medium, hash browns and dry rye toast. The eggs were interesting in that one yolk was a strong over medium and one was over hard. Still tasted good, but would have liked a touch more runny yolk. My wife ordered the same with bacon. She said her order was spot on and tasty. She also liked the efficient and fast service. Number 1 ordered the same with corned beef hash. He was a bit bummed. His eggs were over cooked, the hash browns were soggy and the corned beef hash reminded him of canned corned beef hash he eats. He was disappointed. Number 2 got a stack of chocolate chip pancakes and hash browns. He said it was great. He liked the chip to pancake area ratio. And they were huge cakes. Number 3 ordered the He Man Breakfast: two eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and toast. She said it was really good. The eggs were cooked how she ordered them, but the hash browns were a little soggy. And, the Texas Toast was super good. She ate it all and it was a pile of food. Number 4 got a burger and fries. He liked them as they are one of the food groups he actually eats. Our waitress was great. She came at the right times with more coffee, etc., but not too much. So The Diner was a mixed bag with five of us liking it and number 1 being disappointed. Our rating came out to an average of 3.5 stars, but we are rounding up because most of us liked it and the great service. read more

I had high hopes for my second time going to this cute place! My first visit was great, but yesterday when I went in for breakfast, the food and service were both sub par. I had the country fried steak, which sounded great on the menu, but unfortunately the steak had an unpleasant texture, and the portion of gravy to fried steak was terrible uneven. My boyfriend had the three meat and cheese omelette, but it was more like scramble eggs with lots of cheese on one side and lots of big meat on the other. Although our service wasn't bad, there were many tables about not enough wait staff for them to comfortably keep up. I will more think likely give this place another shot because I'm a breakfast junkie, maybe there's a gem on the menu i just haven't found yet. read more
