Great food and cute waitresses. We always have breakfast here when visiting our Clare family. Try the loaded avocado toast. Can't go wrong!

We have been coming to 505 cafe for a very long time. We even stayed in a suite on the upper floor one wkend. Last month we came in on a Saturday morning and the service was poor. We were ignored when we sat down. I had to ask someone to come take our drink order. I chalked it up to new helper. We came back this past Saturday and experienced the same thing. This time, the staff blatantly ignored us, even looked directly at us and still did not come over to bring silverware or take our drink order. We finally got up and left after watching the staff help people that came in after us. We will not return. The staff working there have no clue regarding customer service. We would spend on average $70 each visit on food and drinks. We found another place in town. read more

Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. My wife had a blueberry muffin that was incredibly fresh and loaded with blueberries. The yogurt parfait had fresh fruit and granola. The biscuits and gravy with the eggs alongside were just like I eat regularly in the south. And unlike most places that serve biscuits and gravy, there were chunks of sausage in the gravy. Love the decor, friendly and helpful staff when you walk in, great coffee! I am from out of town and drove around trying to find a quality cup of coffee. Thankfully this place popped up on my map. I don't care for overly sweet coffee so the girl helping me suggested the raspberry white chocolate flavored latte half sweet, which is perfect. I actually gave 5 stars but edited my post and knocking off stars for my sad to go breakfast I got.. I ended up waiting a while for my croissant breakfast sandwich and after I got in my car and saw it knew why.. It sat there in the back a while. Everything was cold (potatoes and sandwich), sandwich was soggy.. .Had potential but was a fail. I needed to get on the road so didnt have time for a pic or to go back. I was excited about this place, but with a breakfast like that it ruins a perfect rating. The staff should never let that go out the door like that. Not for 21.60 for a sandwich, coffee and tip. *Editing my post again and adding back a star for the heartfelt response I received from Morgan concerning my meal, including some things on their end to improve my experience. It's unexpected and unsolicited responses from a business sometimes that show they truly care about their customers and that deserves recognition. The gluten free "chicken club" and "bella italia" flatbread pizzas were perfectly done and extremely tasty. We arrived about 35 mins before closing time and felt like we were inconveniencing them (but if our server was the "Victoria" on our bill, she was great). Even if they closed at 10pm and not 3pm, it's never pleasant to feel that way. Also a little mix up over phone about them being pet friendly - only on patio. Will try them much earlier for coffee next time. read more

Who knew that there could be a better burger? Clare's 505 Cafe, apparently! Had lunch there a week ago and the server suggested a Beer Cheese Hamburger. While I had my eye on something else, that suggestion won me over. I like hamburger. I like beer cheese. Surely, the combo would be good. The combo was GREAT! The beef was tender. Parking is all parallel parking so be prepared . It can get busy in this street so you might have to look around for a spot Cost is pretty average for breakfast. $26 for two. I ordered the breakfast flatbread pizza, sausage...yummy!! I'm taking a couple pieces home to reheat tomorrow and I believe it will be just as delicious. Hubby order the croissant breakfast sandwich and the pesto aioli made the sandwich (he ordered extra bacon on it). The potatoes with it could have been a bit more crispy but we also didn't specify that. They'll crisp up when I reheat them tomorrow. I just got regular coffee but it's a darn good cup of (endless) coffee. Hubby got an iced tea, also endless. Service was friendly. Food came out a bit slow but we enjoyed the atmosphere here so not a big deal. Great place for breakfast and the cocktail menu and other food items will certainly bring me back this way. read more

My husband and I visited this location on a particularly traumatic day of our lives. I can't explain here but this was a little oasis in our hell that day. The service was kind and truly attentive. We both enjoyed our brunch which consisted of a veggie flat bread and veggie skillet with gluten free toast. Each of the dishes were perfectly executed, fresh, and flavorful. The establishment was clean and the ambiance was very comfortable and classy. I have nothing constructive to add. I just want to say thank you for your service and for brightening our day even a little. Five stars in all categories. read more

Stopped by for carry out lunch while driving through town on way downstate. Super cute cafe and great menu offerings. We ordered sandwiches and iced coffees, which were tasty. I was a bit surprised, however, to receive a BLT that was mostly bread and bacon with a small single tomato slice and piece of lettuce. Quite sad about this discovery actually and too late to go back. More B than BLT. Order extra L&T unless this ratio happens to suit you better! Upon walking in this nice place. Myself and my famIly were impressed with the size of it. It's very countryish and clean. The floors are crickety wooden. The tables are solid and some are huge for large families such as mine. There's soft music of pop culture on the JBL speakers that's on the wall. This place has a Very Relaxed Atmosphere and has specialty items on the menu. The server takes all orders on an iPad for accuracy. My son sitting at our table pulled out a drawer that was in our table. And found a note that read " if found? Call this number" so, he texted a picture of the note and sent it to the phone number they responded saying that note has been in the drawer for over 4 years and was asked to please put it back. And he was the third person to respond to the note. Come here and checK this place out. You won't be disappointed. read more

We stayed in Clare for a couple days and stopped at this place a couple of times. The coffee and sodas were really good! It is also a cute and friendly environment! I told one of the girls there that I wanted a sticker that said Clare Michigan on it and if she knew where I could find one. She told me the name of the store and then later came up to me and told me she had a gift card she hadn't used for the store! She gave me the gift card! I thought that was so sweet and yes I did find the sticker and used it! read more

First time to Clare and this is a must for your morning jolt of caffeine. Hubby and I loved it and cannot wait to visit again.

Covid update: if you're in or going through Clare, MI eat here. We ran out of packed meals while on the road and needed to find a place for lunch. We stopped at 505 Cafe for takeout on 6/13/2020. They are doing well in keeping up safety protocols. Staff wore masks; limited seating for dine-in. I would've like to see gloves on staff, but here's hoping that hand washing is happening between handling items that customers touched and the next customer. Food: Very high quality ingredients. My spouse had the Honey Ham Club, our daughter had the grilled cheese sandwich with applesauce side, I had the Sunshine Salad. Everything was fantastic. I would give 5 stars if they hadn't forgotten our fries. But, my husband said the default chips were really good. (We didn't check the order before leaving or go back to fix this, so obviously not a big enough issue to us, since we were on the road.) read more

My sister and I go here as a treat to each other about every other week. Unfortunately, we are finding the staff more absorbed in gossiping with each other while our meal sits. We ordered fries with our sandwich. When brought out it appeared it was the bottom of the frozen bag of waffle fries? Nothing that resembled a waffle, just pieces and bits. They tasted like they were not cooked! We sent back..got the same thing back in return. Think it's time to find another place to enjoy :( read more

I have only been here once, but once is all it took. This place is so quaint & cozy. Feels very homey with home cooked food. The staff is warm and welcoming. They offer Amish baked goods which I LOVE because (I assume) they are supporting local and acknowledging the diverse community. The Staff was Friendly and the Place is Cute but unfortunately the Food was not Good. Fries were clearly undercooked remicrowaved Frozen Waffle Fries. Decided to venture our, and try a new place for lunch and I was not disappoint. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap which comes with kettle chips and a pickle. The wrap was amazing, lightly toasted, and had buffalo sauce along with homemade ranch. The wrap was delish, and actually spicy!! I love spicy foods, and most of the time when I order buffalo anything it has a mild spice, but nothing that makes my nose run. This did not disappoint!! The wrap also had a generous amount of sauce which is a huge plus for me! I walked here to grab my food, and the inside of the cafe was adorable, and had a nice atmosphere. Very nice place to go have breakfast or lunch! Would deffinetly recomend trying!! Next time I plan to snag a muffin as they were huge, and looked amazing!! This place is amazing. We were passing through the area around lunch time and were looking for a nice quiet place. We didn't know what to expect when we walked in. It is an old building that has been rehabbed into a very nice restaurant. We heard that the coffee was very good here so when our server, Morgan, came over we each ordered a cup. She told us that they spent a long time looking for just the right roast and blend of beans for their brew. They certainly have a hit as it was very good and had a great flavor. They serve breakfast all day so I chose the Meat Lovers Skillet. It had potatoes, peppers, onions, sausage and bacon covered with cheese and two eggs cooked the way you like. It was very filling and absolutely delicious. My wife got the Flatbread Chicken & Pesto pizza. Flatbread filled with vegetables, chicken and pesto. Had a wonderful smoky flavor. We were stuffed when we finished but, we saved room for a doughnut that we planned to get from the shop next door. The front is somewhat hard to find so you might pass it by but, look hard it is two stores down from the Cops & doughnuts store. You'll get a great meal and coffee. read more

Look forward to stopping by on the weekend to grab brunch. However today they didn't seem to busy. Walked in and after waiting by the door for a min finally asked a waitress if it was seat yourself which she replied yes. Picked a booth by the coffee station and waited for over 10 min. Waitress were looking at us but not one did one motion they would be over in a min, asked for our drink order etc. With places short staffed learned to be patient but continued to wait with no service. Finally got up and walked out with no one saying a word to us. Shocking as this place was at the top of my list whenever in Clare. read more

Gave this place a second try and results were the same. Loooove the coffee drinks and ambiance, super cute space, friendly staff. Maybe the breakfast food is just subpar and the lunch is good? Got a veggie omelette and the eggs were hella spongy and hard to even cut, maybe microwaved, the veggies plopped inside the fold were hardly cooked. I couldn't eat even half. Same for my brother's meat omelette. The mini 505 was good, simple, safe bet. Brother said his burger was tasty. Got the veggie skillet last time and it was okay. I recommend the coffee drinks and ordering from the lunch menu. Def worth a visit. read more

Great Space. Lackluster Coffee. While we loved the aesthetic of the shop, unfortunately the coffee came up short. I had the "cold brew" which I feel like was just old coffee that they stuck in the fridge. Wife had the "Caramel Kiss" which was so sweet it was reminiscent of cereal milk. read more

Update Ok we are back for a 4th time in two weeks. Much better this time around. Coffee was flavored well and they dealt with our crazy weird coffee. Not bad. We came for coffee. Was alright for a small town. Wish they had more decaffeinated tea options. Did not try the food. Nicely decorated. Going a second time today. We like coffee. See if the rest of the family likes it.
