Food was just not impressive. Crispy ribs were ok, just seems lacking in flavor and all I could really taste was the smoke. I was thinking they would be dripping in sauce, but they weren't. Not really falling off the bone or anything as far as tender. 6.2.10 Brussel sprouts were not great. Very bland and a little mushy. 3/10 Salmon was pretty good, feel like this dish really hit the Asian fusion theme. Nice apricot sauce or something similar with seaweed and pickles. 7.1/10. The food quality was good, but the portions were smaller than expected. Unfortunately, the service model really took away from the experience. We ended up sitting at the bar since there were no floor or wait staff in sight. If you're dining in, you have to order food and drinks at the bar and tip upfront. You also have to get your own drinks, refills, and silverware from a separate area after ordering. The staff only brings the food to the table or bar and never checks back. Our bartender, Lanay, was nice, but she spent a lot of time chatting with coworkers and doing closing duties at the opposite end of the bar. This was my second time at Loro. We went for lunch and planned our arrival for opening time. There is a hostess stand and we waited for a minute before someone came out and got us. You seat yourself and can sit anywhere inside or out. Place your order at the bar and they will bring you food. We got a buzzer but didn't need one because the food was ready very quickly. It didn't all come out at once but that was fine. We were pleasantly surprised food was ready so fast. My second time was much better than the first but that's not a bad thing, I just got different stuff. My friends had never been but they will be back. We got a variety of things : edamame, corn, queso with brisket for starters. For our meal I got the crispy chicken sandwich, my friends got smash burger and the pork belly bowl. My chicken sandwich was very good. Nice sized chicken, little kick to it and soft bun. It had a slaw on top that was good too. The chicken was crispy and juicy. The brisket queso was amazing, smoky flavor and the chips they served were perfectly crunchy and thick enough to hold the queso. The brisket was flavorful. It was small but hit the spot for an appetizer. Meant to share but I suggest each person get their own. The edamame was ok. It wasn't something I had to have. My friend said the corn was good. The smash burger was good and the pork belly bowl good but more rice should have been added since it was a pork belly bowl. Our bill was decent and parking was easy in the lot since we arrived early. Visited on a Sat just after lunch. We were able to get seated inside at the bar top tables without a wait, but shortly after a rush came in. They do have an outside patio area, drinks only, while you wait, but would recommend calling in advance. We started with a few of the drinks, before ordering an array of shareable bites. We like to try a lot so we opted to start with the following items: pickled veggies, crunchy corn fritters, curried brisket rice, and the char siew pork belly. The kraft box had a scoop of meat, a little container of coleslaw with no lid, and a few slices of tart pickles for the bottom layer, then, a parchment paper layer with the bun on top. The coleslaw's dressing has a lime/tart flavor profile, which I'm not a fan of. The fried corn fritters are mostly corn held together with soft cornbread batter. If you follow my reviews and try dishes I rave about, then you will better understand my palate. The Mango shake was good and not as sweet as I imagined from its description. Had such a great experience at Loro Kitchen in the Heights! I frequent this restaurant quite often because the vibes and food are immaculate for any occasion. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We went on a day when the chicken karaage was half off, and it ended up being my favorite dish of the night--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We also tried the baby back pork ribs, which were incredibly tender and fell right off the bone. The seasoning was on point--smoky, savory, and satisfying. The ordering setup is casual; you place your order at the counter and they bring it out to you. This time, I got the Killer Colada, smoked wings, and my absolute favorite the crunchy sweet corn fritters (they are a must every time I come here). Now the guy who took my order today clearly didn't want to be at work, not rude, just gave I'm here so I won't get fined energy. BUT shoutout to Dragon, the server who brought out my food; super polite, upbeat, and actually checked in to make sure everything was good. I came a little too early for happy hour which is Mon-Fri, 2-6 PM, but honestly, there wasn't anything I really wanted on the happy hour menu anyway, so nothing lost. I sat outside since there was a nice breeze and they had patio fans going, which made it super comfortable. The wings were crispy with just the right amount of kick, enough to make me reach for some water but not overwhelming. As many have said, the parking situation is pretty tough, with only a small lot available for self-parking. Happy hour goes until 6:00 and they have some great deals! Particularly their apps and $5 boozy slushes. This time I also tried the $5 two trick pony combo of a tiny miller high life and a mini order of any of their slushes - I went with the mango sake and was obsessed. We got the smoked salmon dip as well as the smoked wings and I was a big fan of both. However, my friend felt like the wings and the chips were both way too salty, so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to saltiness! Went on a Saturday evening. The service was insanely odd and rude. We waited quite a while for a table outside and the host was not communicating with us about the hold up. There were plenty large tables in view and available. The food was alright. I also tried the strawberry Thai margarita mocktail and the spicy cucumber mocktail. These mocktails were both fine. I wouldn't recommend this mostly because the service was weird. I would say that most dishes are not large, but if you order a few and share they seem to go along way. The drink selection is not exhaustive but it has a good mix and you should be able to find something you like. Chicken Karaage, $12. The batter was closer to an sweet and sour type beer batter that a crispy panko or flour. It was cooked nicely and the dipping sauce was good. Good app to share at the table or for the kids to eat. Char Siew Pork Belly, $16.25: Nicely cooked. The fat was rendered properly and the sauce was good. In general, the dish was good, however for $17 it is a bit pricey. It would have been better with some bread or other carb of some sort to help balance the fattiness. Curry Marinated Shrimp, $15.5: The shrimp had a great flavor. It was a curry dry rub. The rice was also flavored very nicely, however was a bit dry and seemed not %100 fully cooked, not sure if that was by design or not. The pickled cabbage was very good. Mandarin Margarita, $10.5: Good cocktail. However if you do not like smoked salt ask them to not put it on the rim. I was pleasantly suspired with the smoked salt and i felt it made the cocktail stand out a bit. If you like a drink with a touch of smoke I would suggest this one. Nothing I had at Loro was bad and the restaurant was clean and had a friendly vibe. I think the drinks are priced right. The dishes I tried are all good, but from a value perspective only the Chicken Karaage makes the cut. I would recommend for a snack and drink with friends. Loro is a concept born from the minds of Uchi and Franklin's BBQ, taking barbecue dishes and adding an Asian flare. They often offer seasonal, as well as daily, specials. As an example, they have ramen two nights a week currently. Past offerings included their version of bossam and a duroc ribs. Both were fantastic! Personally, the best part of Loro is their happy hour menu, which is offered every weekday from 2pm to 6pm. The menu can change seasonally as well, but the mainstay is their cheeseburger. I can't seem to order anything else! It's a great deal for 8.50, normally 13.95. I also love their salmon dip, served with housemade wonton chips. The best part of the dining experience is the interior. It's a beautiful building with high ceilings and exposed beams throughout. There's plenty of bar seats as well as booths. You'll also see communal tables, both inside and outside on their covered patio. The outside areas are pet friendly, and great for conversations with boozy drinks. I've been to Loro twice. The first time was for a Yelp event, the second was with a group of friends. The parking situation was atrocious. They offer complimentary valet, however the line to valet was long and caused a bottleneck on the side street. It would be best to take a ride share or be prepared to walk a ways if you can find street parking. If you get there for happy hour, you may be able to find a spot in their tiny parking lot. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait, but we only had to wait about 15 minutes before our party was called. While we waited, we were able to order drinks at the bar in the private room. For the event, food was catered for us, so it was a bit of a different experience. When I went back, I didn't realize it was counter service. The employee asked about food allergies when we ordered which I appreciated. Once you order, you're given a number to bring to your table. As for the food and drinks, some of my favorites were the Oak Smoked Beef Back Ribs, Oak Grilled Zucchini, and the Chicken Karaage. I really enjoyed the frozen G+T. It was so refreshing on a warm summer evening. The Blood Orange Blossum and the Kyuri Mule were very good as well! The drinks are made in batches, but they are very good and the flavors are balanced. The food dishes are definitely in the shareable form factor, so you'll want to get a couple of things if you come in a group. I got: Smoked shishito queso with brisket - no shishitos, tiny portion. Chips lacked any salt or flavor. Sweet corn fritters - soggy, missing dipping sauce. I originally thought my salad dressing was the sauce & dunked them in that. Char siew pork belly - DRY and needed salt. TINY portion. Coconut rice - no coconut flavor whatsoever, just lime. Didn't end up needing this since the pork belly was a microscopic portion. Crunchy cabbage salad - nice flavors & portion. Wish I hadn't wasted some of my dressing on the corn fritters. It looked to be a church in it's fomer life. There were a covered and uncovered outside eating areas. The interior was spacious. Our party of ten ordered just about every appetizers on the menu and all tasted really good.
