The food quality was good, but the portions were smaller than expected. Unfortunately, the service model really took away from the experience. We ended up sitting at the bar since there were no floor or wait staff in sight. If you're dining in, you have to order food and drinks at the bar and tip upfront. You also have to get your own drinks, refills, and silverware from a separate area after ordering. The staff only brings the food to the table or bar and never checks back. Our bartender, Lanay, was nice, but she spent a lot of time chatting with coworkers and doing closing duties at the opposite end of the bar. Overall, the food was good, but the service model and smaller portions were disappointing.

Not every restaurant is going to be a hit every time....and that's OK. The atmosphere was awesome here, but the food just didn't hit this time. I'd come back and try different items. This is what we ordered and how we liked it: -kyuri mule 7/10. A standard mule. Nothing crazy. -mandarin margarita 7/10. Just a typical margarita....without salted rims :( -char siew pork belly rice bowl 3/10. Pork was very overcooked and the pickled veggies were too pungent for the dish. The fish sauce dip it came with would've worked if the pork belly was fatty and indulgent like you'd expect. Instead, the fat was past rendered out and it didn't even taste like pork belly. :( Husband didn't finish it and I couldn't help either. Just...not it. -Malaysian chicken curry rice bowl 7/10. Standard rice and curry in my opinion. Too many pickled veggies made it hard to enjoy the curry. The chicken was tender, so that was a plus. Wish it was more chicken and rice and less filler (onions, cabbage, carrots). I'd come back but definitely order different items! :/

I absolutely love Loro's happy hour! It's one of our go-to spots, and we find ourselves coming back frequently. It's consistently great, affordable, and such an easy place to take friends or family who've never been before -- everyone always leaves impressed. Some of our happy hour favorites are the $5 smashburger paired with the $5 cabbage salad. The salad is citrusy and light, and it balances the richness of the burger perfectly -- honestly the ideal combo. We also love the chicken karaage and corn fritters (not pictured), which are always crispy, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. At this point, we've tried probably everything on the menu and have never had a bad experience. The food is always consistent, the pricing is approachable, and the shareable plates make it such a fun, relaxed dining experience. Loro is truly a staple for us and a place we'll continue recommending to everyone.

This was my second time at Loro. We went for lunch and planned our arrival for opening time. There is a hostess stand and we waited for a minute before someone came out and got us. You seat yourself and can sit anywhere inside or out. Place your order at the bar and they will bring you food. We got a buzzer but didn't need one because the food was ready very quickly. It didn't all come out at once but that was fine. We were pleasantly surprised food was ready so fast. My second time was much better than the first but that's not a bad thing, I just got different stuff. My friends had never been but they will be back. We got a variety of things : edamame, corn, queso with brisket for starters. For our meal I got the crispy chicken sandwich, my friends got smash burger and the pork belly bowl. My chicken sandwich was very good. Nice sized chicken, little kick to it and soft bun. It had a slaw on top that was good too. The chicken was crispy and juicy. The brisket queso was amazing, smoky flavor and the chips they served were perfectly crunchy and thick enough to hold the queso. The brisket was flavorful. It was small but hit the spot for an appetizer. Meant to share but I suggest each person get their own. The edamame was ok. It wasn't something I had to have. My friend said the corn was good. The smash burger was good and the pork belly bowl good but more rice should have been added since it was a pork belly bowl. Our bill was decent and parking was easy in the lot since we arrived early. By time we finished the lot was full. I definitely recommend this place and will return.

Visited on a Sat just after lunch. We were able to get seated inside at the bar top tables without a wait, but shortly after a rush came in. They do have an outside patio area, drinks only, while you wait, but would recommend calling in advance. We started with a few of the drinks, before ordering an array of shareable bites. We like to try a lot so we opted to start with the following items: pickled veggies, crunchy corn fritters, curried brisket rice, and the char siew pork belly. Restaurant also brought us a complimentary bowl of sesame noodles on the house. House pickles included an array of cauliflower, beets, radish and cucumbers pickled via restaurant recipe. Definitely a great concept and I'm a sucker for a good fusion place. Will be coming back and also visiting their other locations.

The service was really friendly and there are a lot of seating options. You do usually order at the bar but they came and took our order at the table. I love their rice bowls and the dressings they use are super tasty. Overall a good place for big groups and to be with friends!

I asked for the Pulled pork sandwich, which has a light BBQ sauce, to be packaged with the bun separately for takeout. It was a nice setup. The kraft box had a scoop of meat, a little container of coleslaw with no lid, and a few slices of tart pickles for the bottom layer, then, a parchment paper layer with the bun on top. The coleslaw's dressing has a lime/tart flavor profile, which I'm not a fan of. The fried corn fritters are mostly corn held together with soft cornbread batter. The aioli and sprig of cilantro adds a bit of flavor.

The queso served to me was identical to the pictured advertisement, this is a first for me. The queso was excellent the smoke was noticeable and added to the dish-10/10! I liked the Killer Colada it was a bit sweet, but then it is a pina colada . The spicy Watermelon margarita I didn't care for. This is NOT to suggest it was bad, I want you to know it wasn't for me. If you follow my reviews and try dishes I rave about, then you will better understand my palate. The Mango shake was good and not as sweet as I imagined from its description. It haas a nice mango flavor and slight bitter bite that I feel compliments the flavors. The waitress Crystal suggested the Chicken Karaage and the chicken was on point. Crystal said the chicken was seasoned, marinated then deep fried. It was served with sliced garlic. I apologize for my picture I had packed my leftovers and placed the chicken back on the table for a picture. If you like chicken bites, and fried food try this! Crunchy sweet corn fritters and the Vietnamese Coffee. The coffee s great they lightly sprinkle coffee grounds on top for presentation. The coffee was really good and for a moment or so I thought it had chocolate inside. This was a really nice experience and I will do again. GN3

Happy hour is the time to go!! Bar tender that name that starts with a y was fantastic! very helpful and kind! would recommend the slushi flight for your first time to see which one you like better. I loved that espresso one as it had flaked of ground coffee which i thought was a really nice touch. Also loved the gin and tonic one as well , very summer drink by the pool sipper! I also tried the burger at the end and for $5 it was a very good deal as it was a huge burger ! Parking is hard unless you go before 5 for what i've heard since the rush starters at 5! Bathrooms were clean and big . I liked the place too as it's an old church which is super cool.

Have been to this location twice now! Once at the bar seat and once on the patio for Happy Hour. Happy hour pricing is good and includes great apps and drinks-- well worth it $5-10. However, sitting outside they forgot us a few times and it wasn't a huge deal but definitely sitting inside gave better service. Food and drinks are always great, I LIVE for the salmon dip and the espresso martini!

All recommendations from the staff were excellent! We got a mixed plate with brisket, pulled pork, and also pork belly. They pork belly was excellent, the brisket was very flavorful and delicate, but the pulled pork was just okay. I enjoyed the mix of flavors and they have ample seating both inside and outside! The staff was friendly and it has nice ambience.

Had such a great experience at Loro Kitchen in the Heights! I frequent this restaurant quite often because the vibes and food are immaculate for any occasion. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We went on a day when the chicken karaage was half off, and it ended up being my favorite dish of the night--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We also tried the baby back pork ribs, which were incredibly tender and fell right off the bone. The seasoning was on point--smoky, savory, and satisfying. The crispy chicken sandwich is definitely a staple here--packed with flavor and stacked high. As you can see, it's a very tall sandwich, so come hungry! The Houston weather was perfect that evening, so we sat out on the patio, which was beautifully lit with warm, inviting lights that made for a super cozy dinner atmosphere. Parking was also a breeze with a free lot available and plenty of street parking around. Highly recommend checking this spot out!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too packed. There's plenty of tables/seats available for all party sizes. My friends and I chose to sit outdoors. I ordered the crispy Thai pork ribs and the crispy potatoes. The pork ribs had a good texture and flavor. I would definitely recommend trying this. I wasn't too keen on the crispy potatoes though, nothing too special about them.

The pork tonkatsu is flame seared and has an excellent charred flavor, very different than normal tonkatsu pork but still melts in your mouth. The broth is flavorful and ginger-forward, but not too salty to where it's overpowering. Great portions of noodles that makes for a satisfying lunch. I had one sesame chicken from another restaurant that was literally like trying to eat a rock! It was so over cooked (Cooking Girl). Terrible! Another restaurant (Montrose Chinese) was bland and only God knows how old the chicken was! Yuck! The Crab puff was so bad I could squeeze out the grease! Change your oil people! Even the fortune cookies were probably ten years old or more. Tasted like cardboard. Cafe Ginger may be a dollar or two more for their entrees but your gut will thank you later. I am pretty easily pleased when it comes to sushi, but this sushi was displeasing to our taste buds. The service was also glaringly bad. Our plates with various discarded shells and other trash were not taken until the very end. I kept pushing it closer to the edge of the table, and they kept ignoring it. It ended up being $70 total (with happy hour discounts) for two people for the worst sushi I've had at a restaurant. This is what we got: Citrussy maki: had to order it because of the funny name. They had large pieces of lemon and lime on the sushi, which was so upsetting and unexpected to get a mouthful of. After we realized this and picked them off, the sushi was okay to me. I thought the creamy mango yogurt was interesting and alright, while my friend did not like it. Crunch maki: this one was relatively normal and tasted fine. There was way too much tempura for the amount of sushi though. Chilango maki: definitely my favourite out of all the maki we ordered. The strawberries added a nice taste. We had to remove the jalapenos though because they did not compliment the sweetness well. Rainforest maki: this one was atrocious. The ingredients listed on the menu sounded pretty normal, but we discovered the sauce tasted awful. I don't know what kind of sauce it was, and I still forced myself to eat it, but my friend took one bite and gagged. Crab meat puff: the outer fried shell was too hard and didn't taste good, while the inside was way too creamy. Mango martini: this was really good and sweet.
