Great customer service from DJ Richey! Really love all the options and flavors of the empanadas and they just celebrated 18 months here! Love the ambience and it is a smaller establishment which is great because there are only 6 tables. The agua frescas is absolutely 100% pure, my wife got the Sandia y Limón and it was fresh squeezed! The chicken empanadas and the flavor of the month spicy asada was the major winners for me, but all of the different flavors we ordered were delicious. This empanada place is so good. I tried another empanada place in Beverly Hills that was highly rated, but personally I liked Lord Empanadas better. The filling was delicious in every empanada and the outer crust was perfect. The filling was not overly greasy like other places I've been too. The cashier was the nicest person to ever. She was so sweet and helpful, and answered all my questions about the salsas. The "hot chimichurri" sauce was amazing. It was spicy but still had the original chimichurri taste. I ordered my food to-go but there is indoor dining with about 6-8 tables. Nice decor and some natural light from the big front windows. Parking is a little tricky. There are a couple of parking spots in the alleyway, but you can also park at the public lot across the street and walk the short distance to the restaurant. read more

For me, customer service is half the experience. I was disappointed. I called my order in to save time and I paid the moment I got there. I stood in the small customer area around 15 minutes while they served a number of walk in customers who had come and gone. At one point I was the only person standing there which is when they looked into my order. Im pretty upset because it took longer to call in my order than five walk in customers. read more

Glad I found this place. Went after the arboretum to grab some empanadas for dinner. My husband did the happy dance after eating the beef one. The place doesn't look like a restaurant from the street view, but once inside it's super clean and cute. Friendly employees. Nice selection of empanadas and craft beer in cans. There are also lots of desserts to oogle. Had the spinach and cheese, beef, and chicken. All were tasty. Sauces have a great flavor. Love how they package and label the order. Came here for lunch and sampled a bunch of the "New Year New Empanadas". Had the Birria, Spicy Asada, Al Pastor, Spring Roll, and Chicken Fajita as well as the two dessert empanadas. Birria was super flavorful and the dipping sauce was great. Al Pastor with the pineapple was another favorite. My girlfriend really liked the Spring Roll with the sweet chili sauce. Soyrizo and Al Pastor empanadas were ok. Also got an Alfajore cookie for desert it was a little dry for my liking. These were the best empanadas we've ever tried!!! Wow, wow, wow! I stopped in around lunch time to pick up empanadas to take home to my husband. It was actually about 1 pm and my initial impression was a bit turned off by their parking situation. I had to circle around several times to find a space, even though people were coming and going. I've seen some good things online from this place and while waiting for my car to get washed/waxed I ended up trying out this place today. Ambiance: low key, small welcoming space with seating for about 20 people max inside. Clean, bright with sunlight coming through the large front windows. Service: I was warmly greeted and the hostess was delightful and attentive. She recommended a few empanadas from the menu as this was my first time here. They quickly wiped down a table for me and after ordering, the food came out within five minutes. Food: I ordered the grilled chicken club sandwich and the spinach and cheese empanada. The empanada came out first. Hot, crispy on the outside. Melted cheese and spinach on the inside. The dough was crunchy and well cooked. The flavor was great and the sauces added extra yumminess. The sandwich came out next with a side salad. I chose the blue cheese dressing and the salad tasted fresh and was a good portion. The sandwich was well toasted on the inside and topped off with the usual club type condiments, lettuce, tomato, bacon, avocado, cheese and a light chimichurri aioli spread on the bread. Everything tasted good. And I will definitely be back to try the other empanadas. The place is on the higher end as for the price of sandwiches / empanadas, but you get a good quality meal for the price. read more

Exceptional food all around. A small establishment off Myrtle in Monrovia which offers great food options, service and a cozy eating area. The parking is very limited, but I'm telling you, it is worth it. Find parking on the side streets or in their back street. They have about 10 empanada options, my girlfriend and I love the beef empanada, and I'm very surprised with the breakfast one as well. I got the beef stroganoff which is one of my absolute favorite and my girlfriend got the caprese sandwich. It's not my go to, but the caprese was phenomenal. I recommend EVERYONE to try this place. Probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. The chimichurri aioli I what takes it to the next level. The parking is extremely limited, but it didn't phase me since I picked up my food. Just thought I'd let ya'll know. It's a small corner building. Inside it's cute, small and smells delicious once you open the door. I ordered 1 beef, 1 spicy black bean, and 1 spinach w cheese. They filled me up, and I could eat! The order comes with 2 servings of chimichurri dipping sauce and 1 serving of red salsa. The red salsa is yummy. Has a nice kick. The chimichurri, well, it's chimichurri. The beef with potato was not my fave. A little on the bland side for me. It's lacking flavor. It has a nice light sweetness to it, which is common in beef Empanadas. I don't typically review restaurants if I haven't actually tried a menu item. Since the restaurant facilities were the basis of my inability to enjoy empanada highness, this is an exception.... I found the spot on Yelp. Name is STRONG! I mean with a name like LORD Empanada, you better bring your royalty game. The food photos and reviews looked "right up my alley." I plugged in the address and headed that way, excited for empanadas. I arrived to find the location is quite literally, "Right Up An Alley." The storefront and door face S Myrtle Ave, but parking is in an alley on the south side of the building. There are about 4 riiiiidonkulously narrow parking spots/parking boxes painted on each side of the alley. The "parking alley" ends at a T intersection with another alley where "No Left Turn" is posted. The 2nd spot on the right and 4th spot on both sides were available. I drive a 4-door, long bed Tacoma. Not a full-size truck, but long. There was ZERO chance of parallel parking in the 2nd spot. I headed to the 4th spots. There's a casita attached to the back of the restaurant. A HUGE, decorative? tree trunk, lying horizontal in the yard of the casita protrudes into the 4th spot on the left......No go! I tried the 4th spot on the right. Even if I tapped the bumper of the car in the 3rd spot, the front of my truck extended out into the cross-alley juuuuuust enough to be THAT GUY. I have no doubt another customer, or any driver using the alleys, would clip the front driver's side of my truck while navigating the right turn only, T intersection. I'll try again one day......take out. read more

Empanadas!!! My 1st time here and I ordered 3 different ones. Birria, spinach & cheese and breakfast chorizo. It also came with sauces to dip in which was consome, chimichurri and salsa. Ooh these were lil pockets of deliciousness paired so well with the sauces. If you know me I'm a sauce addict and I really enjoyed it all. Ooh I'm so happy to have found this place. The service here is outstanding. The family and friends that work here clearly take pride in this small business and it shows in service and quality of food. The empanadas are made to order (or at least when I came) so there's a wait. I recommend calling it in since you might find yourself waiting as long as 45 minutes.. don't worry tho..it's worth the wait! We ordered the chicken, beef, spinach and birria. All were great but my fave was the spinach. There's something about mild cheese in fried dough, however, all of them were excellent.. ESP with their sauces. SO GOOD. The portions are pretty big, so plan to have leftovers if you buy more than 2/ person. These are obviously best fresh and hot, but air fried the next day is great too!
