Longtab Brewery is a welcomed addition to this area of San Antonio's culinary scene, they have excellent micro brewed beer crafted in house, and only beer crafted in their house, beer lover or not you have to appreciate the love they show to it. All in all this is an excellent place to hang and grab a couple of beers, with excellent snacks and sandwiches once that buzzed hunger monster strikes. I will say though not to treat this as a gastro pub, their focus is much more on the beer and less on the food. Not to say the food isn't good, my grilled ham and cheese was excellent! But It was simple, most people could've made it at home in about ten min. That's not a jab to the restaurant, it's simple and makes sense and I enjoyed it thoroughly! My dad had the brat and same theme, it's was very good but very simple, just something to tie you over with your brews. As far as negatives I did notice a few things but honestly they're more of observations. I would say a appreciate the small fresh menu but it's a little overly simple for my taste, at the very least give an option for fries as opposed to chips or some kinda interesting sides! Maybe some German themed beers ones to compliment the beer types even and entrées. A couple more menu items sure would be nice, especially something that wasn't hand held, I think that would really get them closer to a 5 start spot. Also pricing for the portion size I would say price if is flirting the line of being high, beer seems to be pretty average cost wise. Also service wasn't bad or anything but it was very laid back, almost a little too laid back if you know what I mean. And as much as I love the view of the awesome brewery vats and equipment without a glass dividing wall like most places similar to this place have, you get all those strong smells associated with it, it could be a little off-putting for some but not unbearable. All in all a great place to hangout and grab a few beers and maybe a snack or two, it's nice to see more places like this making their way to SA and sticking to their guns, this is not your sub par bar or ice house by far. read more

I've visited 3x in the last 8 months and the customer service is nonexistent. I feel like Im bothering the bartender for service. I don't like when places don't automatically give you an itemized receipt. On 6/17, the tab seemed high, so after annoying the server for asking for an itemized receipt, I was definitely overcharged. The food is hit or miss. Last visit, I got avocado toast with country potatoes. The thick toast was rock hard, I couldn't bite through it, so I just ate the avocado. My hubby ordered the blonde beer and didn't like it too much.. it tasted more like a Hefeweizen/bubble gum flavor than a blonde. I ordered the Marzen and it was delish. Wished the place offered flights like most facilities (I saw previous reviews of customers ordering flights, but our waitress said they don't offer them -- so not sure what's correct?); particularly, if you've never had their beers before and don't know what you like/dislike. We actually came for dinner and ended up eating elsewhere because they were out of pork belly, which is what we came for (and the beer). I wouldn't come back for the sheer fact that we can't do a flight and they have a very limited dinner menu. What started out as a Yelp search for pizza ended up bringing me to a new brew pub in my own backyard. Who woulda thunk! I was pleasantly surprised to find this place opened up in my old stomping grounds and I was none the wiser, shame on me. So, here I go to check it out and soon find Longtab in a commercial business park that I have driven by hundreds of times before. As I walk up, you'll notice the outside is painted in Army green and this is for a purpose. Come to find, this establishment is owned and operated by former Special Forces members and Green Berets. To all, thank you for your service! Upon entry, I was greeted with a friendly, "hello and you can sit wherever you like". The inside is super clean and neat. There is a front area with tables and a separate back area with sofa and more tables. After looking the menu over, I start of with the pulled pork sandwich and the Stilleto. The Stilleto is a Belgian brown that is dark but not super heavy and had notes of coffee and chocolate. Good bold taste. Next, the pulled pork sandwich came out and I was ready to sink my teeth into this bad boy. The meat was super tender, juicy and season well. The challah bread was soft and soaked up all the juicy goodness from the meat. The side of black pepper kettle chips paired well with the sandwich and completed the meal. I asked one of the managers about there selection of beers and he told me that they do rotate the offerings and will have seasonal offerings as they become available so I'll be sure to keep up to date on that. This was a super cool brewery just off of 410 in the northwest side of San Antonio. Not gonna lie, I was a little skeptical pulling up to the outside of a (seemingly unmarked - it actually is though) warehouse, but all doubts were shoved aside once inside the building! The brewery is veteran owned, and it definitely shows by the patriotism and military decor on the inside. All staff was very friendly and helpful when it came to seating, ordering, and checking out! In our experience, Long Tab could definitely be spot to spend several hours drinking amazing craft beers, or is a good spot for a timely german-cuisined dinner! I go here every time I am in San Antonio and I always have a good rime. The food is great and the service is fantastic. They occasionally add in new beers and I have enjoyed each one. This place has very nice ambience, and they've renovated since they first opened. The beer is fantastic. We got the pork nachos. The pork was delicious, but the chips were stale and dry, unmitigated by the very minimal cheese they top it with. We asked for more cheese and they brought another tiny cup to cover the sad, dry layer of stale chips at the bottom. They charged us three dollars for the extra cup of cheese. The beers were also more expensive on the receipt than they were on the menu. The staff was superficially friendly but undermanned and clearly counting down the hours until closing. You can find their beer on tap at more convivial locations, such as the Hoppy Monk. Maybe we'll try Longtab in another year or so in case things improve. Based on other reviews, it's very hit and miss. Our visit was a miss. read more

I cannot believe I waited so long to try this place. They have a wide selection of Belgian beers and the corresponding glassware. The beers are great! I had the Devil's Brigade and I have found a new favorite. The food is also delicious and don't forget about their coffee. The staff is very courteous and very helpful, they even ground my coffee. I really liked it. We ordered two of your sandwiches and they were really good. The beer was really good too. The waitress was nice all the time. Something that's a little bit of a con for me but could be kind of neat for somebody else is that you go get your own water. I loved the ambience, but it may not be for everybody since it is Military special operations decor. They have an area that looks like a living room with couches and TV and everything. I thought that was pretty cool. The bathroom was clean. They also have card games so you can wait for your food having fun with your company instead of on your phones. Great beer, delicious food, friendly staff. I've tried Longtab before through curbside but decided it was time to visit in person. It's located just off Bandera and was fairly easy to get to with plenty of parking spaces. While the outside appears industrial, the inside is inviting with plenty of tables and comfortable couches. The staff are incredibly friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. I decided on the Breacherbier, a bright and delicious wit beer, and the turkey and avocado panini. Having not tried their food before, I was pleasantly surprised that the sandwich was just as yummy as their pours, with a hint of chipotle Mayo and arugula. The staff were also happy to accommodate our request for splitting a half pour which was greatly appreciated. Talk about unexpected find... this place was the best discovery ever! We went for something close by not expecting much since location wise it is not the SA hot spot. We were so happy we went. All I know is I don't want too many people to find it because we love going when it's not too busy because their servers have time to hang out and give insight to the food and beers. So far we have not found anything we do not like about Longtab Brewing Co. What will keep taking us back is the Loaded Bavarian Pretzel and the cool playlist. As for wine I am in awe of their Admiral Nimitz Foundation Admiral's Reserve (Dessert). Also they are a coffee house and I've yet to try one but I will be soon. read more

If you want water it is is self-serve from a receptacle near the bar; never encountered that before. The pork belly nachos were a little salty and the chips were very thin and not very crunchy. Bratwurst and shrimp and pasta were good. The place has potential for a great atmosphere. I gave them 4 stars but they're probably closer to 3.5. Will return and try some other menu items. read more

Came to this place for a quick evening, bite and brew. The parking is pretty small for the area when you walk inside the environment it was clean. No one greeted us. However, we ended up just randomly shutting down and was waited on moments later. None of the staff offered any sort of advice or information about the place very few selection of beers. There's no sours. Unfortunately there was not a beer that I preferred. They all were on the same flavor profile unfortunately, however the pretzel with cheese and mustard was amazing by far the best pretzel I've ever had, the crunch to the fluff, the mustard was great and I don't know what they put in their cheese, but that was some of the best cheese for pretzels I've ever had. I just wish they would give us more of the cheese for the size of the pretzel the grown-up grilled cheese is literally 5 pounds of cheese, so make sure if you order it you go there on an empty stomach because that thing is intense, they didn't have much of side options either we ended up just getting chips the jam or chutney that was on the grilled cheese was definitely a secret star the show the cubano wasn't the greatest wasn't the worst it could've been elevated with either a little more meat or just something was missing again just plain old basic chips that were not housemaid you can tell they came from a bag inside is pretty nice. Can also appreciate the lemonade I was given I ordered lemonade, thinking I was gonna come out of the fountain and I got this bottle of some of the best lemonade I've ever had. Epic establishment!! The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the massive pretzel which was cooked perfectly. They need to give you more beer cheese dip because the one cup won't remotely take care of how big the pretzel is. The currywurst and bratwursts were so delicious. The beers were so smooth and we tried a variety. I did end up spending more money than I expected because the environment lended itself to a fun time. The servers and bartenders were so fun and friendly. They were attentive, talked to patrons and made the atmosphere lively. The crowd is diverse but primarily veterans since it's a veteran owned small business. They are only open till 10 pm during the week which was a bummer because I could have enjoyed that atmosphere much longer. Looks like I'll need to come back soon.
