We popped in after having coffee and breakfast around the corner. We didn't realize they would have a full kitchen and menu along with a variety of drink options. The place was busy with a number of bike riders stopping in after their rides. Seems like a pretty popular meet up spot. Even though we were stuffed from coffee and breakfast sandwiches, we ordered the tofu bites and they didn't disappoint. The tofu was perfectly crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The salsa verde served on the side was a delicious accompaniment. We also made friends because this is a very small world afternoon. Can't wait to return!

Wonderful experience and great beer. Met Chris, excellent human being! Would recommend to anyone looking for a great beer at a great price! Very laid back vibe.

Stopped by after taking photos at Landa Library with my partner. We grabbed beers and a quick bite to eat. I ordered the grilled cheese and my partner got the burger. The food was good, but not outstanding. The beer was great though and there was a wide variety to choose from. We also got a can of the sour to try at home which was balanced and refreshing. There's plenty of seating and the space has a good vibe. The staff were super friendly, welcoming, and gave us their recommendations. I'd recommend this brewery and would like to stop by here again.

I found this place just browsing on yelp for a lunch spot and I was so impressed. The area is under some serious construction but this place is absolutely awesome. The bartender was so friendly and conversational, the beers were DELICIOUS, and the space is so chill and relaxing--and CLEAN. And the food---wings were probably the crispiest, most flavorful wings I've ever had....so impressive. They do community events as well and support our San Antonio Wrestling ambassadors.....awesome establishment. Thank you for an awesome lunch. We will be back!

Amazing Food with fast friendly service. This is a great place lunch, not too crowded and you'll be in & out in less than 40 - unless you order a second beer. The place is casual, seating both inside and under a covered patio. Located on Greyson in the Government Hill area, Breakaway Brewery has an upbeat vibe. Give them a try. Headed into Breakaway for Restaurant Week. This was my first time and the food was delicious!!! We did have the Restaurant Week menu which was chips, a smash burger, and a cherry bread pudding. All were super yummy! The chips had a kick to them. And the burger came with a potato salad that was so fresh. We also ordered the Breakaway Breakfast Sandwich!! Wow!! The Biscuit! The thick cut bacon! The egg was cooked perfectly! And the hot honey...chef's kiss. The beers were also good and we were able to talk to the brewer and he gave a lot of background on the beers. I loved that you could tell all the food was made from scratch. I will definitely be back!

Run. Don't walk. I repeat, run don't walk. If you don't listen to me you have only yourself to blame. I don't recommend Breakaway. I am a doctor and I prescribe it. Chris made my very first visit impeccable. I will be back. There is no way I could not.

Outside seating area. Well lit in the evening.

Recommend: Yes! I'd been craving a beer for a few weeks and was looking for a place that had outside seating where I could read a book. I know what you're thinking..."who goes to a bar to get beer??" . This place was just what I was looking for to satisfy my craving. Service: The service was great and fast! I had questions about some of the beer and the bartender was great and patient at answering them. They also offered small tastes of the beer I was interested in to help me make my choice. Ambiance: I really enjoyed the ambiance. They had good music on that ranged from several genres and wasn't too loud. This allowed conversations to occur without having to yell. There were plenty of seating areas to choose from. Some seating was a little more private or others closer to the bar area. There was a whole wall of windows that allowed you to look outside, see the street and Fort Sam Houston. It was nice to see something outside vs a wall. There were TV's and bikes hung on the walls adding to the vibe (take a moment to read about the owners). There are several board games available if you come with a group of friends. They also hold games nights! Food: The beer def hit the spot. I ordered the "Forget me not" which had blueberry. It was enjoyable and part of the proceeds went to an Alzheimer's charity. I also had "The Texan." They offer various sizes to choose from and have tasting flights. The prices are reasonable. I only had the polenta fries, they were fresh and found them to be very crispy (yum!), the Gorgonzola dipping sauce complimented them very well. It was light, fresh, and just the right amount of tangy for the polenta fries. If you are looking for a spot to grab a beer on your own, hang out and to catch up with friends, play board games or simply relax, I highly recommend Breakaway Brewing.

Ambiance: Cycling themed brewery off Grayson Street with multiple seating areas and a kitchen. I enjoyed sitting at the bar and drinking one of their IPAs. Decent pricing, fast/friendly service, and pretty good beer! Cute theme, great for any cyclists or sports enthusiasts. Chill spot perfect for hanging out on the weekend or post-work day. Definitely got busier late afternoon/early evening. Parking onsite in a connecting lot. They take Apple Pay!

The vibe, the crispy pale ale..... Very excellent. I'm just a transient passing through but this place treated me like family. But the "Domestique" is A+++++

Delicious food and excellent service. The ambiance is quite nice. The restaurant offers a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes it perfect for a relaxing meal with friends or family. The staff is attentive and friendly, always making sure you feel well taken care of.

Bread pudding, cranberry and sour cream ice cream, and pineapple hard cider.

The guy who served us was awesome, and the food was just as amazing. The cider was super tasty, and the bread pudding-- which I don't usually go for--totally won me over. We had it à la mode with the flavor of the day: cranberry and sour cream ice cream. So good!

Beer flight! Had samples beforehand. OMG

Everything was so good.. but those wings you have to come here.. Bartender was very attentive!

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

I had the Lox eggs Benedict and in retrospect should have sent it back as it was stone cold! My husband and our friend got the biscuits and gravy and also reported that they were cold - it was also served in a bowl which was a bad idea as the biscuits completely soaked up the gravy and resembled oatmeal by the time it hit the table! We got one meal - waffles and chicken to go and the waffles were inedible- poorly mixed, gritty and so much hot sauce in the mixture that they burned the back of the throat - they had to be trashed ! The aioli instead of dressing, thicker slices, etc etc. But wow, did it taste good. It's as if a pastrami Reuben and a sliced smoked brisket sandwich had a love child who inherited the best from each parent. I also tried their salmon gravlax on an 'everything' bagel. This bagel was baked in-house, topped with the cured salmon, cream cheese, tomato, red onion, capers, and a sprig of dill. Rustic, beautiful, and delicious. Definite recommend! However, the last visit we had which was on 3/30/26 was quite a letdown. Of course, they were busy so I service was slow but we understood that. The drinks were still amazing and the same as we like. The huge change that was hard to miss was the quality and portions changed significantly. We always sashimi and ramen noodle every time we go there. This time we had to return one of two yellowtail sashimi (I wanted to return both but felt bad to do so). It looked like a scrap. It's really bad. I wish I had a picture of it. It basically looked like small pieces of yellowtail that they piled it up and called it sashimi. The one we kept wasn't much better but at least they were somewhat tolerable. The size of each piece of sashimi is roughly a quarter size and not thicker that 0.5cm. I won't call that sashimi. It's sad to say that I can get a better quality and amount of sashimi when I go to all-you-can-eat places. The ramen noodle size was cut in half. It used to come with nice chunks of pork belly, not anymore. They are small, bite size pieces of pork instead. It also doesn't come with Menma (Pickled Bamboo Shoots) which was used to be in there. However, it still tasted amazing though so we ended up ordering 2 orders of the ramen noodle bowls in order to get the same amount we used to get but now we had to pay double. It's sad when you go to the place often, order the same things all the time but receive something differently. It would be nice if they increased the prices but still keep the quality and portion as it was.
