I don't generally review fast food spots, but this is one of the most absurd drive thru experiences I've had in recent years. I used to like Long John Silver's when I was young and I haven't had it in years. I drove by this combo Long John Silvers and Taco Bell in Plainville and decided to hit the Drive Thru. There was no line to order and no cars between me and the pickup window. There was a fairly normal Taco Bell Menu and a separate low tech menu listing certain Long John Silvers combo meals. It didn't seem like it was a complete menu. I said "I'd like to get a Fish and Chips." The person taking my order said "what do you want?" I thought maybe they don't use the word "chips" at LSJ, so I said "a Fish and Fries." She accepted this order and said it would cost "$2.25", which seemed very low. I was in somewhat of a hurry, so I decided to just go with it, and I was curious about what they were going to give me for $2.25. I drove right to the window and paid. I didn't check my clock, but what seemed like about 10 minutes passed and a line started to form behind me. She asked me to drive around front and said she would bring my order there. I parked in front and waited about another 10 minutes without getting my food. Within those 10 minutes, another car appeared from the Drive Thru area and also parked out front. I had finally lost patience and time, and I started to drive away since I needed to be somewhere and didn't care that much about the $2.25. As I started, an employee came outside with a bag and gave it to the other car. I said "I've been waiting here for about 10 minutes for my food and about 20 minutes since I ordered. Do you have my food?" She said she didn't and that she doesn't "make the food". I told her I was leaving. So what would I have gotten for my $2.25 if I had had an indefinite amount of time to wait? I'm not necessarily proud of the fact that I'm writing a review for Long John Silver's but I can safely say this was probably the last time ill ever visit one. I visited this location last weekend while visiting Connecticut and ended up pulling in because I remember enjoying it when I was younger. Located pretty much inside of a Taco Bell, I went through the drive through and the employee was friendly enough. I ordered the fish and chicken combo which is served with French fries and hush puppies. The French fries were fairly standard although I do enjoy Long John Silver's fries for what they are. The chicken was alright but the fish was way too hard and required some real work just to bite through. The hush puppies were awful and were rock hard, so no good okay those. Overall, Long John Silver's is a dying chain in 2019 and overcooked food and a bland experience are part of that reason. Although the food was edible and not terrible, I don't see myself returning to this chain in the future. read more

Fish had been sitting for so long they were a shade of brown versus golden. Wrote to the customer service email and not only did they never respond to my follow up, they couldn't even spell correctly or adhere to professional writing etiquette. The food at this location was disgusting. I ordered two fish family meals for our Good Friday meal. Instead of two large sides we received two small coleslaw. This was supposed to feed 8 people but only served two. The French fries were so limp and soggy they looked like they had been boiled. The fish was a horrible greasy mess. The fillets were very thin and almost all soggy greasy batter. It was Good Friday and this is how they treat their customers who are trying to support them during this viral crisis. I paid $40 for this garbage and that's where it went. I tried to call them but even their number did not work because it was a fax. We had company and I was very embarrassed by this experience. Wow, How disappointing. I ordered the fish & shrimp combo with extra fish and hush puppies. I went through the drive thru. I put my bags in a thermal bag. I drove 10 minutes home. I open my food to find EVERYTHING was old, hard, and cold. It's like it sat around all day just waiting for me. Very inedible. I stopped by one evening after a Robotics event because I needed something for dinner besides pizza. My dear child does not like pizza. Everything I ordered that evening they did not have. After much frustrated I simply ordered fish and fries. Generally when food is served hot you can't taste the excessive salt - oh you can here! My son loves fish yet he didn't take more than a nibble of his fish. The fries were okay. For the money I would go elsewhere. Horrible food! Waited forever for food so long they gave me free taco coupons. They stated they were making me fresh LJS Chicken. I Receive three fresh pieces and 9 pieces that were over cooked dryer and obviously had been sitting in their bin forever. We ordered fish with shrimp dinner. The fish and shrimp were terrible. They were so greasy, I could not eat them, the fries were cold. I had about 3 bites and 10 minutes down the rode I had to go to the bathroom. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed. We went at 4:15 on a Sunday afternoon, the fries were cold, they left off my girlfriends coleslaw, when we asked for it after standing there trying in vain to get someone's attention they served her slaw that was so old it was grey. She had to bring it back to get something that was green. As we sat there eating we saw a gentleman come in to place an order, the cashier was cashing out the drawer at the counter, several employees went by him without as much as a be right with you. Their space is shared with a Taco Bell which dominates the menu. The shrimp were small and over cooked. The hush puppies were as hard as ping pong balls. I asked for cole slaw (which was creamy and excellent) in place of the fries and got both, which was fortuitous as the fries weren't bad. The staff acted like they which they were anywhere else and I can't say I blame them. There is no grilled fish here, and the fried fish was more coating than fish. My wife and I have enjoyed LJS for years but today may be the last time we eat there. The store in Plainville, Ct. has reduced their serving sizes to an embarrassingly tiny amount with only one side. My wife's chicken was no more than about 1 inch wide by about 2 1/2 to 3 inches long. The thickness of my fish was maybe 1/8 inch thick without the batter, but the price per meal was the same. Cold fries and flat soda completed the combo. Never again will we eat at Long John Silver! read more

This place has really gone down hill, ordered the chicken and shrimp, I've seen some really sad looking food but this made number 1. The food was pretty good haven't had it years how ever I went through the drive thru placed 2 orders and was told to pull around the front and my fools will be sent out to me so I do so and 10 minutes go by then 20 minutes go by so I go inside to see what was going on I didn't think I ordered that much food... Come to find out they forgot to fill my order which took them all about 5 minutes to get to me once inside but it's all good because they refunded me my money 21.00 and some change so I have some pretty decent food for free I'd definitely go back I'll probably go inside though lol.... I begrudgingly gave a one star rating because, in my opinion, they do not deserve even 1 star! Sunday a friend and I visited the restaurant in Plainville CT and it was the absolute WORSE meal we have ever eaten. My fish was so greasy that I took several napkins to press the oil out of it and the taste was terrible...definitely not fresh oil for sure! My fries were cold. My friend ordered chicken and slaw and received fish/fries. When she went to tell them that she'd received wrong meal they made her the chicken and fries. She told front person about not getting slaw and they walked away from her. The hush puppies weren't ready with our meal and we waited for some time after finishing our meal for them and they smelled horrible and tasted even worse than they smelled. Its obvious that they were fried in the fish oil and they also could have been wrung out with all the oil in them. Needless to say, even with a coupon, we will NEVER return to this restaurant. It was absolutely terrible. I tried emailing the individual store before writing this for all to see, but my email was returned stating that they are not receiving email at this time. Hence, the public review. My advice...........STAY AWAY. Not even worth the $4.24 we paid for each meal with coupons. We would have been better off spending a little more and going to McDonalds! I threw away my remaining coupons in their trash when I left because I certainly will never use them! read more
