Easter vibes and great steak We decided to spend Easter at Texas Roadhouse, and I'll give them this; they definitely leaned into the holiday spirit. Walking in, the floors were decorated with "Happy Easter" written in chalk, along with little eggs and chicks throughout the restaurant. Service-wise, our waitress was friendly and made sure we were taken care of, but overall things moved a bit slow. Not a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of. The manager also came by mid-meal to check on us, which I always appreciate. Now let's talk food... My 23oz porterhouse steak? AMAZING. Cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and didn't need any sauce at all. Definitely the star of the night. I also tried their "dirty soda" (strawberry coconut cream with Sprite), and it was actually really good. (well balanced and not overly sweet) The only miss for me was the loaded baked potato. I got a half block of unmelted cheddar cheese sitting on top I ended up scooping it out because I definitely prefer my cheese melted into the potato. I haven't been to a Texas Roadhouse in ages, but we were gifted a gift card and decided to go try the Cromwell location. It was already packed on a Friday at 5:45. Luckily they have an online waitlist so we joined as we were getting ready to go out. We only had to wait less than 10 minutes by the time we arrived while the waiting area was literally shoulder to shoulder. The hosts were friendly and our waiter Nick was pleasant and quick. He checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed and fresh glasses of water would always magically appear as they were getting low lol. The ambiance lives up to their name. I do miss the days of peanut shells all over the floor, but it still has the same roadhouse vibes. It's definitely loud when it's busy. Our food was very good and the kitchen was prompt. I'm sure we all know by now that their rolls are addictive. I tried to stop at one but completely failed and had three... I was basically full by the time my food came . I ordered chicken critters which are chicken tenders that are lightly dredged, delightfully crispy, and well seasoned. I had a baked potato and green beans as sides. The green beans are delicious, but they are also very salty. My husband ordered a NY strip medium rare hoping that way if it was a little overcooked that it wouldn't be too far over, since he prefers it closer to medium anyway. That worked out well because most of the steak was medium with the very thickest part being just about medium rare. It was well seasoned and tasty. This location renewed my faith in Texas Roadhouse. No wonder it was so crowded on a Tuesday. The food was on point, even the leftovers were good. Nice apps with the potato skins and fried pickles. My first onion blossom and it was awesome. Chili was good, loved the addition of fresh red onion. I usually dont eat steak out but they have perfected steak here. Nice quality and taste... And I almost forgot about the bread and butter to start. Dont know what that flavor is, but Yumm. Did not like that to fit us in they added a small table to the booth, so I felt kinda in the way with servers and guests walking by. It was also dark because the lighting was over the booth table and it was hard to hear people inside the booth. Customer service was pretty good tho just a little awkward passing food n drink to people inside the booth. This location was way better than the 1 that I live by so I will always take the drive. The service here was wonderful yesterday. Our Server Ryan was on Point! He made sure we had everything we needed from water refills literally as I took the last sip to helping out with my Free App coupon issue. The food came fast and was hot and delicious. The bread was literally hot to touch and it's always the best bread and butter around. I love their onion blossom as well. My go-to here is the filet medallions with rice and I usually get two side salads without tomatoes and ranch dressing instead, as my sides to go with it, With the mushroom sauce. Every single time I go I get that because it's just that good. My friends both got the chicken fried chicken. One with white gravy and one with brown gravy. Everything came so quick and we started eating right away so I didn't manage to get as many photos as I usually do. I like that they give you a bag of peanuts at the table now instead of just a bowl full of nuts that everyone else touched it's a lot better and I really like that they don't throw the shells on the floor anymore. It's always very crowded and there's usually a long wait. I recommend putting yourself on the waiting list through the app or website when you're on your way. Going to Texas roadhouse it's always a good time we love coming here for steak and margaritas ! Besides it always being busy and having to use the wait list . The atmosphere is very lively , the staff is lovely and the smell of fresh bread as soon as you walk in ! There's nothing like it ! The bar area also has plenty of TV if you wanted to watch a sports game . Obviously we started of with the fresh bread served with like cinnamon butter ( honestly my favourite bread and butter from any restaurant) Now they even brought back table side peanuts .. which we loved ! Next we ordered margaritas obviously ( usually we get the large 18oz ones ) but today being a Tuesday we got the smaller size for only $5 (+1 if you want it flavoured) Honestly I come back 1. For the bread and 2 for the margaritas they are always sooo good ! For our entree I got the herb chicken with mushrooms and mashed potatoes and a side salad . The side salad is a good portion with fresh vegetables , boiled egg and cheddar cheese on top . Always good in my opinion! The mashed potatoes are delicious nice and smooth consistency ! My favourite side personally ( you can get it loaded with cheese and bacon to ) The chicken was cooked perfectly I enjoyed it very much My husband got the steak with fries ! The great thing about Texas roadhouse is they always cook the steak however you want it ! ( if you want Medium rare that's what you get ) we personally never had to send a steak back ! Another great meal at Texas Roadhouse. I went on a Wednesday and they had 8 oz sirloin steak on special for $15.99 . Plus they had $5 Margaritas . The steak was cooked to perfection. Had the salad and baked potatoes. Both were very delicious. I added my name to the waitlist as I was driving there. It's worth the wait though...the rolls with the cinnamon sugar butter is literally to die for, and our waitress was kind enough to pack us up some to go! We tried the rattlesnake bites and for someone who doesn't like jalapeños, i was thoroughly impressed! We also tried their version of a "bloomin onion" which was also really good. Texas Roadhouse of Cromwell has been opened for a few months now. Tonight I went here with three others for dinner. I don't love stake as much as everyone else in my party, or as much as the average guest of Texas Roadhouse. It has always been a challenge for me to find a meal at this establishment. Before we get into the details of my meal, I would first like to acknowledge the young server. He was excellent, very patient, friendly, and quick. You never had to ask him anything twice. I cannot remember his name, but it started with a C. I'm not sure if I missed this at other Texas Roadhouse locations, or if it's new here, but on an each table there is a bag of peanuts. Along with those delicious, delicious rolls and that cinnamon butter, you could easily get fed on just those. I got the Porch Rocker Raspberry cocktail. This was just ok. A bit watered down, but not awful. Again, I'm not sure if I missed the salmon on my past trips to Texas Roadhouse. When I saw they offered grilled Salmon, I knew that's what I'd be getting. I selected the 5 oz salmon with corn and the mashed potatoes as the sides. Sadly when it arrived, it was very, very dry. I squeezed some lemon on to it, of course it didn't help. Our first time trying Texas Roadhouse - anywhere! Visited on a Sunday and had a great experience. We added our name to the waitlist before leaving home and the check-in was seamless, with a wait time at the restaurant of less than five minutes. It was very loud and busy, but the servers did a phenomenal job of organization and keeping the traffic flowing smoothly. Our server, Laila, was attentive and friendly, checking on us regularly, but we never felt rushed. Our meals (steak kabobs with rice, steak tips with mushrooms and onions, and a steak salad) were all fresh and tasty. This was my first experience at any Texas Roadhouse, and it wasn't mind-blowing by any means, but I'm sure I'll be back at some point. Because this location opened just last week, the wait times are INSANE. I came on a weekday; my group joined the waitlist online an hour in advance and still had to wait over 30 minutes when we arrived. The parking lot was also full. However, it was all worth it for the rolls and butter. I ate 5, and I am still craving more. The other food was only alright. My ribs were dry, the mac and cheese felt slightly undercooked, and the fried pickles were practically inedible with the amount of sodium in them. The steak and corn were fine, but I prefer my homemade steaks more. Our server was super sweet and personable and was constantly checking in on us to make sure everything was fine, which made up for the fact the kitchen lost our appetizers and had to remake them. read more

So here is my review from my one and only experience there: Pros: 1. If you get on the waitlist online, they are pretty accurate when you arrive at the restaurant. We showed up on time and waiting maybe 10 minutes until we were seated. The hosts are super friendly and helped guide you to where you need to be with ease 2. The waitstaff is amazing. So helpful, so quick, the really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and make sure you have a good experience. 3. Free bread! Their sweet dinner rolls and fluffy and delicious. But, fair warning, not everyone in my party liked them. If you don't like sweet bread, these aren't for you. 4. Entrees have an option for a side salad as a side. They are good sized salads and very tasty and fresh. 5. My son ordered a steak and it was cooked perfectly. So if you like steaks, you may like this place. Cons 1. Im used to spices and flavor in my food. TR relies mainly on just salt to season their food. Some black pepper on their fried fish. So, for me, food was kinda bland. 2. Mac and Cheese isn't very cheesy. I was told it tasted more like pasta and butter than mac and cheese. 3. My son ordered a burger medium and it came well done. He put lots of ketchup on it and ate it anyway. 4. fried pickle chips were the biggest disappointment. fried perfectly, nice and crispy, but LOADED with salt. I have a very high threshold for salty food, and it was too salty for me. All in all, if you like steak, give this place a try. For this genre (chain steakhouse), I consider Texas Roadhouse my favorite in my area. The pre-dinner rolls are the star of the show. They are so popular that I'm certain they'll sell them in the supermarket someday. Other great qualities: I really like the bar setup and the theme. And they do a good job of keeping it a casual vibe throughout the restaurant. It's more "fun" than its counterparts (Outback, Longhorn, Chuck's, etc.). Service was great, too. Overall food is good. Decent steaks, as expected. Good selection of appetizers. They do need to add and/or change some of the sides - particularly the green beans recipe which is terrible. I find myself wanting to go back regularly which is a very good sign for me, personally. I generally don't like going to the chain restaurants. I had the steak and shrimp combo and found it to be OK. I had ordered medium rare, but received medium. The Cesar salad was somewhat small but very good, I would say the same applies to the sweet potato. I think the issue with the steak was that it was a rather thin cut of meat, (1/2" cut) so getting medium rare may have been challenging. The steak was well seasoned and had a very pleasant taste, no gristle was in my steak. My wife had the chicken, but I took one for the Yelp team and tried it... . The chicken was better than the steak, the sauce was delicious, the potatoes were excellent. The corn was acceptable, not amazing but ok. I found the service and our server, Brady to be excellent as Brady was very personable. I later teased my daughter about him as he is a good looking kid who is a body builder. The ambiance is nice, I particularly like the tall seating, and the servers doing a line dance on the 1/2 hour. Well-planned front of the house and wait-list sign up. Family group; two from NY and one from Boston. so we got there and a table was ready in a dining room filled with hungry people. Service was amazing from the waitstaff explanations, hot baked rolls on the table to start, easily readable menu to the many runners and bussers. We started with a basket of boneless wings with two dipping sauces. These weren't the best I've had but with the size of the meals not really needed. I ordered the 10 ounce Ribeye medium-rare and it was perfection. No fooling around here. My two sides were a Caesar Salad with too, too much dressing; delicious but too wet. The other side was the Salt Baked Potato which was perfect with lots of butter. Right in the middle of the meal the music started and the entire wait-staff population started dancing in the aisles. They all were cheerful, exuberant and well trained not only in dance steps but how to really serve a table while enjoying your job. This is not something you find a lot these days. Bill was paid by kisok credit card with tax ovet $77.00. Her insistence to rush us, where there were many empty booths, was unnecessary. Also, had dissatisfaction with food order given and food received. Next time, I will seek another restaurant off of I-91. Think mgmt is to fault. When I tell you that I have visited just about every Texas Roadhouse in Connecticut and Massachusetts, believe me. It's not out of an abundance of love for Texas roadhouse but my job has required it at times. I've now been to the Cromwell location three or four times and I don't know what the problem is there but that place is just off. On my last visit, my friend's steak was overcooked and the mashed potatoes were lukewarm at best. The waitress seemed to have a bit of an attitude. Did she not like kids? Did she not like people of color? Was she just having a bad day? I don't know but every time I've been there it's just been a weird experience. I'm going to have to lay this at the feet of management because the tone starts at the top. Having said that, the manager that I interacted with on this last visit was very pleasant and attempted to make things right. But by the time you have to tell the manager that there's an issue, there's already a sour feeling about the whole undertaking. There's no reason to think this place couldn't be as good as any other Texas Roadhouse with a little effort. It is a formula after all, and I don't know where the real problem lies. read more

Mediocre food, terrible service. I ordered takeout. Ittook an hour and a half for the food to be ready. when we picked it up, we were told they were out of house salad. Instead of texting us and telling us we needed to make a substitution, they didn't make the order that had the salad. So after an hour and a half, we now had to wait for them to make the order. They made the substitution for the salad but still got the order wrong, forgetting the sautéed onions and mushrooms and including mashed potatoes instead of the ordered loaded baked potato. After all that, the food wasn't that good. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't somewhere I would ever eat again. The Mac and cheese had very little cheese.
