Walked into this food shop randomly when I was at a work training nearby. They are located on the Main Street and you do need to pay for parking. The inside is very clean and has some seating options. I was instantly approached by the worker on staff. I asked for the Strawberry Feta Salad which was on special. You do get to add some things to the salad for extra. I decided on grilled chicken for an added $3. They have a lot of different options. I would say I walked out of there spending $20 on lunch which was a little shocking. BUT the quality and taste was 100% worth it !! I enjoyed my salad with a side of bread which I wish came with butter. I added a bubbly drink on the side. The taste was everything. I really ate my entire salad under 5 minutes. I would definitely go back! I just wish the service was a tad bit more patient with us newbies as you can tell there are a lot of regulars.

Rotten lettuce

Why would you give rotted lettuce to customers when they are paying high prices for simple salads. The lettuce was disgustingly rotten. This place's quality has nosedived and it is sad the owner doesn't care.

My wife and I were in the mood for a lighter dinner and decided to try the Salad Bar for takeout. For the most part, you could make the Salad Bar's salads at home if you had the time and the ingredients. In this way, I think the primary value of the Salad Bar is that they have more ingredients to cover different tastes in your household, they've done the prep work for you and there may be a greater degree of customization compared to some places. I ordered the large Chef Salad with a side of honey mustard and a side of Ranch (hedging my bets). My wife picked up our order and said the process was efficient. The Chef Salad had typical ingredients like lettuce, cut deli meat and bacon, sliced egg, grape tomatoes, and shredded cheddar. There was nothing wrong with the salad, except that the Ranch dressing wasn't my favorite. The honey mustard was better. The individual salad components were well cut, looked decent and tasted how I would expect. But there was nothing special about the salad either. For instance, if the Salad Bar had terrific house made dressings recommended for each salad rather than the Marzetti brand salad dressings they offer, that might take the salad next level. When I score a place like the Salad Bar, I think about similar things I could have ordered around the same price point. I believe the large Chef Salad at the Salad Bar cost $12. From a quick search of area websites, it appears I could have ordered the following salads in the area for a price between $11 and $14: a Toscana or Spring Salad from Max Fish; a Wedge, Chopped or Burrata Caprese salad from Carbone's Prime; a lettuce wedge or chopped salad from Ruth's Chris; a taco salad with choice of meat in a tortilla shell from Puerto Vallarta; a Mediterranean or Greek salad from Mykonos; and a Buffalo Chicken Wedge, Caprese Avocado, Cobb, Goat cheese, Meatball or Sicilian Orange salad from Joey Garlic's. I can't compare the size of these items to what I received from the Salad Bowl, but at least some of these salads seem to be meal-sized. Given these other options, I give the Salad Bar 3 Stars. However, I recognize that the Salad Bar may have more value for groups of people who can't agree where to go and for people who prize customization.

My wife and I decided to get a jump start on the New Year resolutions and get something healthy for dinner. We were looking at our options in the area and stumbled upon The Salad Bar. We took a quick peek at their menu and decided to give them a shot. Most of the restaurants in our area sell salads around the same price range, if not slightly more than here. What drew us in was the flavor combinations of their signature salads and the uniqueness of the seasonal specials. You can build your own salad here, which in theory you can also do at home, however the variety of options makes it worth doing it here. You can also have their signature salads swaddled up in a wrap or create your own. We ended up getting the buffalo chicken wrap and the seasonal Dan Dan noodle bowl. The Buffalo chicken wrap came with the standard accoutrements: lettuce, chicken breast tossed in hot sauce, crumbled blue cheese, and a few dashes of ranch. I was impressed with the freshness of the lettuce mix and the juiciness of the chicken. The Dan Dan noodle bowl consisted of refreshing soba noodles, bright crisp scallions, baby bok choy, and Dan Dan seasoned pork (a good balance of spicy and sweet). You can swap out the pork for Dan Dan flavored tofu for a vegetarian option. The prices for the two items were $8.00 and $10.00 respectively and the amount of food was filling. If you're looking for a quick healthy meal and the ability to create a salad without having to buy 20 things at the store, then this is the place for you!

I can't say enough good things about this place. I had gone sporadically since they opened, but I've been getting takeout from here regularly since late in the pandemic and I have never been disappointed. I usually build my own salad, but I've also gotten gluten free wraps a couple of times. There is always a variety of fresh ingredients, as well as proteins (like tofu!) and all kinds of sauces for proteins and dressings. I love that I can look up anything on their menu to make sure it's gluten free because there's nothing worse than having to guess. I also really love the five bean chili and a couple of the other seasonal soups. Unlike a lot of other places where you can build your own (insert food item here), they seem to always get my order right, which is amazing. I go to Giants football games regularly with my Dad and there aren't many options for someone like me who doesn't eat meat or gluten. So the day before every game this season, I've stopped in to grab a salad to eat at the game. They travel well, are reasonably priced and fill me up, so it's a huge win even when my team stinks. Keep up the great work!

What a great concept, I wish there was one closer to where I live! Great variety of toppings and bases for salads, good shielding/sneeze guard up above choices. My husband was super happy with the vegan options including the side of ciabatta with his salad. I would return in a heartbeat. I got iceberg, black beans, broccoli, feta, olives, fried onions, tomatoes, and chicken. I did a medium on the dressing, but I should have upped it for .50 to the extra dressing it would have made it perfection. Great place to pickup lunch.

Really great app with choices to order ahead and pick up. All ingredients were fresh and it was so delicious and healthy. I went in to pick up my order and it was waiting for me on the front counter area with my name. My only small detractor was that they had already put the soups away for the day so they didn't have any warm-ready-to-go for me at that moment. I love that I can make salad with all the things I want like, quinoa, goat cheese, sweet corn, edamame, black beans, etc on top of the usual salad favorites. It's not anymore expensive than getting a "meal" at fast food place too.

You expect, like the other establishments in the plaza, to find a small cafe style restaurant. When you walk in, you are surprised with fun decor and spacious dining area. Everyone who has gone with me says the same thing "I would never expect it to look like this based on the outside." As for food, they have the Best Reuben sandwich in Rocky Hill. Fries are crispy and price on point. Every meal I've had there has been great! The only downside is table service during lunch is very slow. So make sure you have a full hour to burn if you go for lunch.

Secondly, the latte, cocktail & mocktail options are amazing, along with the many many options of food. I've heard that food from restaurants with large menus are mediocre...this DOES NOT apply here. My party of 2 tried breakfast & lunch options. Both were fresh & so flavorful, especially that homemade syrup I had with the French Egg Holes & Cinnamon Roll Pancakes (3). The home fries came out & were seasoned to perfection. Also, not 1 hard potato to be found. The over medium egg in my thick french toast was actually medium! And they gave me the wholes that were cut from the center of the bread. The pancakes were so fluffy & the icing delish. Tasted exactly like a cinnamon roll. We also ordered 2 different mimosas. The cranberry & the classic. Both were made crispy cold, with quality juices & came garnished. The Salted Cinnamon Mocha Latte, was velvet. It wasn't overly sweet, it wasn't watery or overly bold. I was surprised about how tall the cup was...I drank all of it. It wasn't served scorching hot, so I could sip right away. The Greek Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup was lovely. Typically, soup is watery & looks like it was the last bits, but this had chunky meat, the broth had flavor with hints of lemon. You could see the herbs. This didn't scream, I'm from a can at all. The service was also nice & the waitresses didn't mind that we couldn't make our decisions right away. She & her counterpart offered suggestions & were very kind with checking on us. At the end of the meal, we couldn't help but order some take home from the lunch menu for later. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Parishes is a small Jamaican eatery in a business plaza near the Berlin movie theater. You'd expect…read moresome of what they serve. Beef Patties. Rasta Pasta. But they also serve some familiar things in different ways. For instance, the jerk chicken and shrimp wraps. They also offer rice bowls with your choice of proteins. The rice pics I saw looked like white rice, rather than the rice and peas I generally see at Jamaican restaurants. I always order a beef patty when I try a new Jamaican place. Parishes' had very good flavor and good texture. I also ordered a jerk chicken wrap. The chicken was cut into small bite size pieces and served in a thin wrap with shredded lettuce, tomato, onions, peppers cheese and dressing. The wrap worked fairly well as a whole, but it could have been served by any number of types of restaurants. Meaning, that I didn't really pick up much of Jerk or Jamaican flavor as it was served. Maybe because there was a good bit of lettuce and I'm usually eating jerk chicken off the bone. You could have told me it was a chicken Caesar Wrap and I would have believed it. Again, it was good. Just not quite what I expected. The eatery was cool, well decorated and had a friendly vibe. A few regulars came and went while I was there and the crew had a good rapport with them. I would definitely go back to try the Rasta Pasta or something like that. If you're in the area, Parishes is well worth checking out. Four Stars

The wrap itself, however, fell a little flat for me--the flavors were milder than I expected, and I was hoping for more of that bold, spicy jerk kick. That said, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the portion size was generous. Looking at photos of the restaurant, the space has a stylish, artisan vibe that I'd love to experience in person. While this dish didn't wow me, I'm open to giving them another try in-house--sometimes ambiance and fresh-off-the-grill food make all the difference.

You take it my way or you don't get the damn thing", you better be freaking phenomenal at what you do. Because you're announcing to the world that you don't really care about providing good service. Yeah. Yeah. It's meant to be a joke. But really, it's not. The person who would post that sign, really thinks they know better than you do. I basically get a slice of pizza from any restaurant I haven't been to that has a Slices sign. I was in the plaza for Giulia's Pizza and saw that slice sign. So I went in. I am only evaluating Giulia's based upon their Slice Selection and my slice of pepperoni. People who order a whole pizza may have a completely different experience. I have recently been to 4 other places that also feature pizza slices in the Newington, Berlin and Rocky Hill area and those visits establish a baseline for this review. Of the five places, Giulia's has the fewest choices. Cheese. Pepperoni. Veggie. In terms of display, Giulia's displayed the slices in the least appealing way. They were just kind of sitting there. No heated case. The cheese pizza seemed the most recently cooked, but the Veggie and Pepperoni had been sitting for a while. The tops were solid and the crust looked thicker than I would expect for a non-Greek Style pizza. I decided to try the pepperoni. It was brought to me more quickly than I would have expected after I ordered it. Not surprisingly, it was undercooked. It was OK, but the cheese was a bit of a mess texture-wise. The sauce didn't pop for me. The pepperoni could have been cooked more. The crust was chewy in a way that I didn't particularly enjoy. Of the places where I have recently had a slice, this was my least favorite. I've seen and heard this Burger King saying before. I don't think a business does itself any favors when it posts a sign like that. It's hard to root for the person who posts that sign. But you can get away with it . . . if you're great. At least with respect to the slice part of Giulia's business, Giulia's is not great. Two Stars

The veggie rolls were unremarkable (as most are) but the peanut sauce that came with them was quite tasty. The portion size of the pad thai noodles was enormous. The tofu was well flavoured and moist. The noodles themselves were a bit bland and needed more of a kick (something that one could accomplish with the Sriracha on the table). The eggplant dish was full of veggies, which I appreciated greatly, but was overly oily and underflavored. The rice that came with the stir fry was perfectly cooked. The ambiance was lovely, replete with "lush" vegetation and some bamboo ornaments. The restroom was also clean and well-maintained, sadly uncommon in this part of New England. Service was good. The waitress was pleasant and the food came out quite quickly. Overall, it is highly unlikely that I will return, because there are certainly better restaurants if one were to travel a bit further to Middletown. This is however a good option in the Rocky Hill area.
