We wanted lunch nearby so turned to Yelp. We found Sweetwater Juice Bar & Deli, quick drive and great reviews. We were lucky to meet the owner Mark Schand who told us the back story of all the creatively named smoothies on the chalkboard. We ordered smoothies with great add-on options and some had salad while others had wraps. All 6 of us loved it so much we ordered smoothies to go for later or to share with family. I tried the salmon patty and a tuna sandwich. The sandwich was solid--simple, homemade-style food. The salmon patty was spicy and flavorful, though I'm not sure if it's made in-house. Either way, both dishes hit the spot. It's always great to support a local business owner chasing their dream. So was in the area and decided to make the trek to give them a try. Inside is well decorated. Very festive and open. The menu is a little limited. Chicken and steak for the proteins and rice or salad for the base. I got their high protein bowl to try the most from this location. The trouble with lean proteins is that there's not a lot of buffer when it comes to texture and flavor. The chicken and beef were a little tough and dry. They needed a different prep method to keep things tender (thin cuts, cooked on order), but they are not built to do that method. The other ingredients did help in bringing the flavor. Tzatziki was light, pickled onions were sweet and funky, feta was salty, and rice was cooked in what I think is chicken stock. So the components were solid but the star proteins dragged the dish down. Staff were very friendly. The price was high at about 18 bucks for the bowl, good amount of protein though. If the proteins were done well then it could justify the pricepoint. Given its location next to a very large gym, this place will probably do well. Needs to vary itself from bowls a little bit. There's a lot of restaurants on this area, and bowls are very common.

The delay was because they did a heavy burned cheese layer on the tortilla. The avocado creama, creamy eggs, spicy homemade chorizo, and pickled onion lead to a very well balanced and well seasoned bite. Plus they were huge in size but every bite offered a similar experience. If I had to be a stickler, there was a lot of potatoes on each taco. Filler is fine, but I did notice the amount. As a taco, it's a very solid contender to one of the better tacos I've had in ct. the quality is there, the quantity is plentiful, and the price is right. But it's not clear for whom. They finish the drinks and they don't call people's names. Maybe they're for to go orders? I understand that restaurants need to make choices about how they run things. All I can say is, that it's not a good experience to get all of your food and you have to wait for a black iced coffee (a drink that takes very minimal effort) for 10 minutes. A simple explanation like "you can choose up to three from this section, anything extra costs more" would have made a big difference--especially for a first-time customer. When I got to the register, the total came to $40, which was honestly shocking for a salad. The food may be good, but the lack of communication and customer service really took away from the experience. First impressions matter, and this one definitely missed the mark. I have always passed by that road and wanted to try chopt. The salad was okay liked the falafel and the options they had.
